Arrived at just after one thirty pm. On a Saturday. Pretty normal time for lunch we thought. We were told that they had stopped serving food. Some people just have no idea about running a business.

What a great place for locals and visitors alike to meet up and have food and/or beverages. Jen and her staff are very welcoming as are the regulars. The breakfast is hearty and coffee good. There’s a good range of herbal teas too. For a small cafe it offers a good range of food which is always freshly prepared with most of the ingredients locally sourced. Highly recommend Jen’s 👍🏽

Friendly, clean and delicious food! I live here now - one of the reasons I decided to live here is the very good fish n chips shop!!

Terrible service, 20 minutes or more to be served. The soup was frozen, and it was in a supermarket container, I saw it when they took it out of the freezer along with other food. It seems that nothing is fresh. They catered to people who came after us before us. The soup was served with hot dog bread, it seems that in that town nobody cooks homemade bread. I do not recommend it in any way

We arrived and there were 3 free tables, all dirty. Only 1 table with customers. They didn't clean our table before serving us. When they cleared the other tables, they threw all the crumbs on the floor. The floor littered with breadcrumbs, the tables with breadcrumbs and marks from dirty cups. So much dirt that there were flies everywhere. They didn't even disinfect my table before we ate because of Covid care

Great afternoon tea yesterday. Our choice of sandwiches from the board sausage rolls ( I’m sure we’re home made ) lots of tea fresh scones and two pieces of cake each ( and not small ones at that ) absolutely scrumptious. Fun cafe dog friendly ( Izzie even had a treat ) if your in the area make time to visit best afternoon tea for the best price.

Wonderful, friendly service, fanastic food and all at a very reasonable price. I can't wait to go back again and try some more of their delicious homemade goodies. Couldn't ask for more or better.

This has top class food from , "A Proper Job Breakfast" to a Vegan Breakfast on request, both of which are top notch!! Jen is great and creates a friendly atmosphere welcoming to all. We have been going there since moving to Devon in 2018 and would recommend it to all. Just drop in and enjoy!!!

Slightly by accident we found ourselves in North Tawton whilst on holiday in Devon and decided to stop for a break. Had a really good value Devon cream tea in Jens. Home made scones and jam, lovely. Top up on the tea. Lovely owner. Could not have asked for more.

Unfortunately this restaurant did not live up to expectation. It was very local to us but unfortunate ly we were not tempted to return there. The establishment has now closed and become a private residence.

Looking at these reviews, I must’ve gone in on a really bad day! I was literally there is the door opened at noon and the first customer in the door. It took around 10 minutes to get my portion of chips so I assume they were freshly cooked. I considered that the prices were extremely expensive so I was expecting half decent at least but I can honestly say, despite the lovely cheerfulness of the owner, these were the worst chips I’ve ever had in my life from a takeaway I might as well have pulled out a packet of walkers crisps onto my plate. They were all refried crispy nothings. There was a little that resemble potato anywhere. I also ordered a pickled onion, which I didn’t actually get, the curry sauce was bland, the sausages were liked by the dogs and extremely overpriced for the size. In fact, the only good thing about this meal was the mushy peas. As I say, maybe I caught them on a bad day, but I would certainly never be returning

Normally it's very good - both food and service. Basic pub food but very tasty and good value. Unfortunately, I couldn't say the same this time. The service was poor (unless you were a local); the staff spent all their time socialising rather than serving. No one asked us if everything was OK - it wasn't - , checked if we needed more drinks or wanted desserts etc.
