We went here for breakfast on the recommendation of a family member who is local. We got a friendly welcome and we all ordered a full english breakfast. Our food was freshly cooked, well presented, tasted great and really good value. Tea comes in a china teapot with china cup and saucer and they serve proper coffee too. I couldn’t resist the cakes on display either and bought some to takeaway, chocolate fudge cake slices and a Victoria Sponge slice. If we are ever in the area again, we would definitely visit again.

Went for lunch and found new owners - however the new owners continues the Jennies Kitchen tradition of great food with excellent service. The setting is nice but the food is poor to average. I took my family for breakfast there is a 10% service charge which has to be paid upfront when you order so wether you are pleased with the service or not is neither here nor there, I know lots of places charge that now but it’s usually put on the bill at the end of the meal so if the service or food is poor you can challenge it. The fried eggs had been put under the grill to keep warm so were dry ,I asked if instead of a egg and bacon bap we could just have the egg and bacon and no bap but was told they couldn’t deviate from the menu ,not much of a deveat

We came here on the basis that the website states- WE SPECIALISE IN GLUTEN FREE & VEGAN FOOD. The signs on the road nearby also stated gluten free food was available there. However, there was no gluten free bread available and the gluten free cakes were out on display alongside regular cakes suggesting no understanding of the risk of cross contamination for those with coeliac disease. And besides, who wants chocolate cake for brunch?? We had some drinks and left with two very disappointed children. As a family dealing with coeliac, we always carefully research where to eat out when travelling, and go out of our way for places which genuinely specialise in gluten free catering. When I questioned the person serving us, she was defensive and frosty. Should’ve read the other reviews before we came. It’s also one of these places with rules plastered everywhere which is usually a good sign that customer service is going to be poor.

We were a party of 4 and they seated us indoors, we requested if we could sit outside as it was nice weather and more spacious but they said they couldn’t accomodate that. After being seated, they brought two pots of tea to us, then we were left for 30 minutes. Nobody came to the table. After 30 minutes a plate of sandwiches arrived. A member of the kitchen staff apologised for the wait and told us they hadn’t been informed we had arrived and that they were still plating up the scones and cakes. However, we had to wait a further 25 minutes for them. The scones were small and very dry, as if they were old and had been reheated twice. The rest was okay but nothing amazing, presentation left a lot to be desired. The experience could have been made a lot better if they had bothered attending to our table. On exit, even though the till is right next to the door and we were the last to leave, the women who appeared to be the manager behind the till didn’t even have the decency to say goodbye. To summarise, a very average afternoon tea with rude and unfriendly service. We definitely won’t be visiting again.

We won’t be returning, lovely garden but food is ridiculously overpriced, our fault for not checking before ordering, we just assumed it would be normal cafe prices as that is all Jennies is - jacket potato with a salad garnish £9.95, quiche £12.95! Quiche wasn’t actually quiche but a tart case with a small amount of filling. We also waited 1 hour for food and it wasn’t that busy.. This place has potential as is on a popular cyclist route but we should have realised it wouldn’t be good value by the lack of cyclists.! When the food did arrive the jacket potato was cold but my husband was too hungry to complain, the rest was quite nice but nothing special - we left feeling totally ripped off to be honest. Save yourself some money and some time and go to one of the better value options in the area.

Having checked the website for the opening hours (where it says it’s open until 4pm) we (2 adults, 2 kids) set off on a bike ride, planning a late lunch at the cafe. We got there just before 2.30 but foolishly decided to say hello to the alpacas and donkey before going in. When we went in, we and the family of 4 in front of us discovered that they stopped serving sandwiches etc at 2.30 so we could only have sausage rolls/cake/tea/cold drinks. We went for sausage rolls followed by cake as really wanted something savoury. The cake came out 5 mins before the sausage rolls (apparently there was a log jam on heating up the sausage rolls - highly technical process I guess), the waitresses were completely muddled with our order and the other family’s and someone else’s order and one of them was very sour-faced and surly. The sausage rolls were very average (according to the kids mine are far better!) The 2.30 cut off for lunches is only mentioned within the menu page of the website, not on the “opening hours” part of the website or the home page which would have been much more helpful, but in any case seems silly for a place that’s only open until 4pm - most cafes can manage to do sandwiches and teas in the afternoon! Very pretty setting but won’t be returning

Coffee and tea was great. So were the cakes , but a bit on the pricey side. Prices were available ofcourse before purchase , but only if you asked! You now ask Jennie for the name of the" exception" ; I don't know, She certainly did not introduce herself ,but from the manner in which she strutted around as if she owned the place , we assumed she was infact the owner. Either way she was most "exceptional" when compared to the rest of your staff. Nevertheless she certainly made a lasting impression , but I'm afraid I cannot provide you with a name.

Came here as I had seen on their website that they offered Gluten free & Vegan options, however when visiting the menu didn't have options that were both Gluten free & dairy free/vegan combined, it was either/or, despite this the chef took the liberty of personally ensuring I was able to eat something and asked what I could have and liked, we then settled on a mushroom omelet, it arrived with a side salad (which had a gluten free dressing) and was lovely although slightly undercooked for my personal liking (not a negative, I just didn't specify how I liked my eggs) I also had one of the smoothies which was also lovely. The food was a little on the pricier side considering I paid £7+ for an omelet, however it's usually a price you have to pay when suffering from intolerances and probably due to the area and upkeep of the Llamas. The staff were extremely helpful upon email when I requested a full ingredients list of what was in my meal due to having an allergy later that day (I discovered it was most likely from fish in a different restaurant).I would visit again when in the area however would love to see more gluten free & dairy free/vegan options combined.

Booked a table for lunch but left after only having a drink, the table we were seated at was tired and dirty, tea stained tablecloth had been covered in a clear plastic which was sticky and did not feel clean, a placemat which was on the table was filthy and the floor was covered in dog hairs, crumbs and general dust. We were given a completely different menu to what is on the website in terms of options and price. The menu online states a jacket potato is £7.50 so we were staggered to see that the actual price was £12.95. We checked out the sandwiches for more variety but the same result and at a cost of £9.95 to then see this was EITHER with a salad garnish OR crisps (Not both) we thought the place was far too expensive for what was offered. There was also a very small selection of everything compared to the online menu , i think it was 2 choices of each item (Soup, Jacket, Sandwich/Wrap) all with quite uninspriring fillings/flavours for the price. We ordered a drink (prices on counter board did not match prices on the printed menus so we ended up paying more that we thought). Young girl on counter was polite and friendly, older staff member was abrupt. I was impressed with the website but not the reality and will definately not return or recommend.

The café looks out onto a gorgeous garden absolutely teeming with birds, which we watched while we had lunch. The food was lovely, I had the vegetarian option, which was good. The cakes are amazing! Would definitely visit again if we were in the area. We were lucky to get a table though - pre-book if you can.

Amazing Cakes, but although they say doggy friendly, you have to sit in the garden.

Passable Cafe Converted farm building. Rather fussy decoration and table service (over staffed). Coffee was good. cakes poor. (lemon drizzle too dry, courgette OK but butter icing granular). Two coffees and two cakes £12.

The best roast around the area by an mile. Our second visit, but certainly not the last. We brought our family here and they were equally impressed. 10/10

I went in for some dinner, and was treated to a nice atmosphere by some friendly staff. That was bettered by the food, which was absolutely gorgeous stuff. I want to go again, and soon.

Excellent service and good menu. Well labelled for GF etc. Portion size generous. Struggled to finish my pudding! Nice to see a restaurant busy on a Wednesday night
