I hadn't prebooked a room but one was available, and I was so glad! My visit to Barrow to help a family member with a move was extremely stressful! My room was warm, comfortable and the shower was fab! Breakfast was perfect too! A big thank you to Rick and Jackie! You went out of your way to help me and it is very much appreciated. I will be back!

Been here to eat since I was a kid a d still do to this day this is definitely the best place to eat in barrow food is delicious a great portion of food and staff are so friendly I can never fault this place 😋

We popped in whilst having a walk with our 2yr old as we wanted a relaxing quiet drink and to get out the wind. First impressions were great we were greeted with a smile and a friendly welcome from the young lady behind the bar. Beers were very reasonably priced and the staff were great with our little boy who loved having a chat with them. We would definitely come back again. We were in there from around 15:15pm Saturday 14th the young lady working behind the bar during this time was a credit to the business. She was so friendly and made great conversation with ourselves and our little boy really making us feel welcome.

It's a shame because the staff were friendly and the restaurant is nice, however it's a pub, contractors accommodation, be ready for rowdy drinkers hitting on the bar maids who don't appreciate it, we had to approach drinkers and ask to keep the swearing down, we had children with us! Also the food was an unbearable hour to arrive, il be back if I'm out with mates for a drink but not for a meal!!

Woman bar manager absolutely appalling service rude, bad mannered and left not welcome. Table wasn’t sorted when we arrived, she was rude from the beginning. We had to hand our own food plates out and cake for ones that stayed long enough for desert!!! Feel bad for the blonde lady she was lovely! When it came to paying my daughter would have done a better job of adding it up, took longer to pay than to eat my cold meal. Absolutely appalling service from the “bar manager, Steph” absolutely Won’t be returning. Gutted because I love the place! Bar manager need replacing asap.

Myself & a friend went for lunch today, and was quite busy but we found a nice little booth in corner and were just about to sit down when waitress shouts table for 2, we said yes and she said can you go through there, (pointing to main area) and sit on left, so we had to sit between 2 other lots of people, and when we looked around there were loads of 2s that were sat in booths or tables for 4, her attitude was appalling, then asked for 2 halfs of cokes and got 2 pints, her whole demeanor was very poor, very abrupt, (what happened to people skills) the food itself was lovely, and the guy that worked there was very nice (not sure if manager), wont be rushing back though.

Really friendly and welcoming staff. Good breakfast at a good rate - £4.95 for a full English with a drink! Good quality food. We were visiting for a wedding but if we were local we would definitely be going back.

What an excellent meal we had at jeffersons. Plenty of choice and excellent specials. The starters are good, the mains are brilliant and the sweets are very good. It has very good table service and very reasonable prices. This is not the first time we have been there and it's the same every time we go.

Will never go again! I have social anxiety and find it hard going out. Arranged to meet friends for lunch. I have a newborn baby so have to take a pram and was told they don't have anywhere for a pram to go . My friends had to pay for their drinks as they had got there before me and we left.

Well the aweful waitresses that were on last time thankfully not served us today (Hopefully they have gone) - 2 guys were on and they were friendly effecient and polite Food was excellent (although my carrots weer cold when they arrived) reasonable prices too.

Myself and my wife went for lunch recently. The food is ok. The service is poor. There were several tables eating. None of us were asked if we wanted extra drinks when there was a lot of empty glasses. No checkback on meals at all. Plates not cleared on any tables in the dining room. It looked a mess to be honest. I cant even say its because they were busy. Two waitresses just stood talking about how "dead" it was. No interest in the customers really. Seems they just shove your food at you and thats the end of any service you get. Not even cheap like it used to be so I think Id rather go elsewhere you get looked after. Not sure whether now they are making a killing on rooms they arent bothered about food service anymore.

My wife and I have been to jeffersons many times and stopped going due to increase prices and the plate that was just too much food, but the lesson has been learnt and today we went and they have introduced smaller plates, at a reasonable price, well done, big meals for hungry people and a good average plate of food for the rest. Excellent food and good service and atmosphere. Will go back again very soon.

Well..... I couldn’t be happier! I had the pleasure of staying here for a lengthy stop, while waiting for my current house to be ready. I was really looked after here by the friendly staff, my room was smart and the food was a high standard. Thank you all. Sam

Nice joint which has the look and feel of a typical English pub. During the World Cup it is very attractive place as they have TVs displaying live matches from Sky sports. The drinks are good and they have a wide variety of food choices. Good place to be.

Un amigo mío reservó para nosotros y para que comiéramos aquí antes de un evento musical al que asistíamos. Compramos bebidas en el bar y un miembro del personal tomó el pedido de comida de nuestra mesa. Mi esposa pidió el pescado y las papas fritas y se le preguntó si prefería el abadejo o el bacalao, ella eligió el abadejo. No había decidido lo que quería y le pedí su recomendación entre gammon, scampi, bacalao o eglefino, ella respondió que no le gustaba el pescado, así que solo se lo comería. Así que decidí que iría por el fish & chips pero que tendría bacalao. Cuando llegó la comida tuve lo que podría describir mejor como una porción de niños, lo cuestioné con el servidor y me dijeron que el bacalao era una "porción más pequeña". Para ser honesto, obviamente era una cantidad muy pequeña de pescado dentro de una gran cantidad de masa directamente del congelador.

Good food however be nice if did home made chips rather than frozen espically for prices they charge.

The Sunday lunch was okay however the service wasn't the best the waitress with the black hair I found to be rather rude and as if she dosent care not one of the tables had a checkback either.

Me, the wife and our 6 year old son decided to visit for lunch on Sunday. Sat at a booth with its own TV, although it was football it wasn't a problem as the sound wasn't on. Staff were friendly and efficient, took drinks order then came back in good time for food order. 1 Jefferson's beef baguette, 1 Fudstock burger (a percentage of the sale going to Start Mary's Hospice) and 1 kids chicken and chips. Food came in good time, the beef baguette was as nice as ever so said the wife, my burger was really good especially the Monterey Jack onion rings. Checked on in good time and asked again when clearing away, seriously couldn't fault a thing! Haven't been for a while but the new decor is really nice, definitely be returning for more.

Twice they were rude asked for the menu as we went in and she said “I was going to bring it to you in a minute” and then I politely said could we have dessert menu and she said “ when it’s your turn. We just paid and went didnt have desserts. It was the way it was said too. Food was ok although Cumberland sausage was a bit burnt and pink on inside. Beef baguette was gorgeous lots to eat. Children’s dippers were nice too.

Estaba bastante ocupado cuando fuimos a almorzar hoy. Nos llevaron a una mesa en la habitación trasera que ha sido recientemente reformada. Nuestra orden de bebidas fue tomada rápidamente y pedimos nuestra comida cuando las bebidas fueron entregadas. Comí una hamburguesa especial de 1/4 lb de Jefferson, salchichas, huevos, frijoles, aros de cebolla y papas fritas, y mi compañero tenía una envoltura de chile / queso con papas fritas, ambas comidas estaban bien. Lo único negativo sería que el personal no recoge sus platos / tazas / vasos usados ​​de la mesa cuando entregan su comida. Good hotel, great food and large portions, great choices of beer, superb location and very pleasant staff especially the girl who served us our breakfast. Has free parking and is perfect for the local bard and pubs.

Popped in on a Saturday night for a family meal and found it to be excellent as always . Really good pub meals with large portions and good taste and quality . Excellent value and would recommend it .

Went here for a family Sunday tea with my elderly grandma. A lad seated us and he was lovely and polite. Took ages to take our order and when the lass took our order she barely said a word just mumbled! Then the other lass with dark hair my god talk about miserable! My gran asked for the bill and she just ignored her, either she was having a bad day or The world owes her somet! I’m sorry but if you don’t enjoy your job change it! Also was a load of yobs in there swearing which nobody would say anything to! And to top it off food was crap roast potatoes rock hard and just overall not a good day! Won’t be going again. Staff need sorting out hundred percent!

Visited Sunday afternoon for tea after a friend had told me about the refurb. Hadn't booked and went to the bar and asked if they had a booth free to which the girl behind the bar sad "err there's none free as you can see" well as this was my first visit since the refurb I didn't know where the booths where, found her quite rude. we found a table and picked from the menu and was then offered a specials menu by a different waitress to who I had spoke to at the bar. I picked the gammon from the main menu and my other 1/2 picked the steak and black pudding pie off the specials menu. We then placed our orders only to be told they had run out of the pie off the specials!! well that surely would have been a good thing to have told us when you handed us the specials menu 5 minutes earlier!!!

I called in here Saturday for a quick bite to eat. The place has been revamped and looks nice. I always go for the tuna melt baguette and curly fries, this was at 1pm so I didn't need to eat again for this rest of the day. The staff are always friendly and welcoming.

Only dropped in for a drink during our anniversary weekend. Busy bar with a lively crowd. Noticed some of the food going out and the portion size was incredible. Eat for a week on that. Couple of nicely served drinks and we were on our way. Right in the middle near the shops and Wilkinsons.

Stayed here good Friday to Easter Sunday, room immaculate and bed very comfortable. Staff very friendly and breakfast was amazing!! Very good value for money and not a far walk from bars and restaurants

Despite the menu price rises. the meals here are hugely satisfying, even though I am usually unable to finish them because of their immense size.

Another visit here and its still the same , large portions of good quality pub food . None of us could finish our meals as the portions are so large. I had the gammon and egg and it was lovely . No complaints , staff are friendly and efficient, all in all a good experience.

Called into jeffersons for a bite to eat before the football on a Saturday really varied menu I had the burger really nice not to mention massive a proper sized portion my better half had the chilli that was really nice and very hot the staff are really friendly had a great bit of banter would definitely recommend this place for some nice pub lunch

Ordered gammon and egg and my other 1/2 ordered sweet chilli panini Portions were massive and reasonably priced although chips and veg clearly were frozen which is a shame

Call in quite often for a quick lunch, drinks and food are good value for money and service is always quick and efficient. Menu doesn't seem to change but I always have the same thing anyway - hot beef baguette!

I've been coming to you for many years. Will not be returning. Today i have never felt so embarrassed in my life. All because one women couldn't understand my order and made sarcastic comments. Then when the food came, a young girl (long brown hair) came over passed it to me. And made another sarcastic comment. I usually round the bill up to give you a tip But with the terrible service and how they both made me felt, i thought 'why should i?'

Jefferson es un lugar estupendo para toda la familia para ir y relajarse. A menudo ir allí y es nuestro lugar favorito para comer en Barrow. El menú es variado y muy razonable. Encontramos por pura casualidad. . Y volvería. Agradable. el personal es muy agradable y muy rápido servicial en ordenar y dio tiempo suficiente para servirlo y no te molesta una vez que tenía la orden. La primera cosa que tengo que decir es que no vayas en sentir hambre si sólo como las comidas son bastante grandes y se obtiene lo que se pide y lo que parece recién hecha para ti. . Buena calidad y fresca y sin duda no con hambre en general, lo recomendaría para familias individuales parejas de cualquier tipo de personas. .

Fui con mi marido para almorzar temprano el lunes pasado. Pedimos un café con leche, una taza de té Earl Grey, champiñones con ajo, seguido de un desayuno inglés completo por él y una lasaña vegetariana para mí.

Jeffersons es conocido por ser un restaurante para hambre diners. Las raciones son enormes, pero también de alta calidad. Los precios son bastante razonables, a pesar de un par de aumentos el año pasado. Sensación de hambre? Prueba Jeffersons, ¡no te arrepentirás!

He estado aquí muchas veces, específicamente para el increíble de las porciones de cada comida y la relación calidad-precio. Siempre estupendo. El lugar siempre está muy limpio y me encanta el hecho de que las noticias en la televisión, es como que te da algo para ver y hablar sobre mientras espera su comida (a veces tarda un poco, pero merece la pena la espera).

Ate here many times for lunch & usually have the same, a hot baguette, stick to what I know. Always lovely & always stuffed afterwards. My husband chose the chilli, which was awful - he hardly ate any of it & it looked like quorn not minced beef at all. Nobody came to check if were ok except for when we paid we were asked, to which he replied it wasn't very nice, the girl didn't know what to say to us so ignored the comment & just took our money - no customer service skills whatsoever !!! Safe to say he won't be going back in a hurry, me on the other hand enjoyed my lunch.

Lovely food.great service huge portions. Value for money. Came to barrow for couple days came here for lunch on first day it then became our local. Nothing was to much trouble. Local to our hotel. Definitely recommend.thanks to all the staff they work hard and always seem happy with what they do. Thanks to all the staff it's been lovely

Went in December 2016, had to wait almost an hour for someone to take our order, almost as long for the food to arrive. Had pork baguette with chips, extremely large portion but the meat itself had lots of gristle and one part which didn't really look like meat at all, more like offal or very fatty connective tissue. The stuffing was clearly out of a box and the gravy was tasteless. Won't be back in a hurry.

the scampi is my favourite, but also like the hot baguettes staff very polite and look smart and the place is spotless, enjoyed the friendly surroundings, will come again soon

Visited here with not knowing what to have for tea at home! Oh my are we glad we did! This is a great spot for pub food and the portion sizes are BIG!!!! The jeffersons burger is really tasty and can go large for extra £2! My partner had the hot beef baguette with curly fries!, which I think are by far the best fries going! The staff that was working that night were all friendly and very helpful! Really enjoy coming here for a good home cooked pub meal!!!! Will have to try there breakfast in the near future as well though!

We ate here for lunch one day OMG is all i can say about the size of the Burgers we had. They were huge portions, really juciy and the chips well again huge portions and so nice and good value for money.

Go here on a regular basis with both my partner and friends and other family members. The Manager and staff are always nice and pleasant and welcome us every time.This is a place to go to when you are hungry as you get a big plateful. The pies here are always homemade and delicious. The sunday dinner is worth the price and the prosecco is extremely good value - not over priced like some eating places charge.We will carry on eating here on a regular basis.

Went for a family meal this evening as it is child friendly and we had my 12 month old grandson with us. There are a good few high chairs available at a good quality. They serve absolutely ginormous portions here so you need to be hungry or there will be a LOT of waste. The food was nice enough; the gravy was delicious. The staff are always really nice and friendly. One small improvement could be done to the menus the children's options are all things like sausage, chicken nuggets and chips, we wanted a filled baked potato for the little one and we had to order that from the adults menu. Not all children like beans and chips etc though I accept that lots do, just a little more choice please

Have been a few times, the staff are very friendly. Menu is varied with good selection of choices from sandwiches to dinners. The Sunday dinner is the best around, choices from one course to three. Food is delishous!!! Prices are good, not cheap but mid range, but then you get what you pay for. Great little pub/restaurant!!

Visit nearly every week for evening meal. Very good & tasty food. Plenty to choose from and always come out full. The staff are very friendly and helpful when requesting a change to order.We also go for breakfast and again have never had reason to find fault. Good quality food and again pleasant staff.

Went with my wife a couple of weeks ago when in town. Fish and chips and a coffee. All decent cooked fish we both enjoyed, very friendly staff and reasonal prices.

Enjoyed a lovely evening meal with 20 friends at Jefferson's. Amazingly, we were all served our meals within 3 minutes with all orders correct and piping hot. Good range of meals - although more limited for true vegetarians - wider choice if you are pescatarian. Bar and waiting staff are very friendly and helpful. Portion sizes are very generous. Went into Jeffersons for Sunday lunch, was fairly busy but we were seated straight away. Many tables had reservations so this is a popular pub for dining.Waiter service at the table, we chose roast baguettes and soft drinks. The food was of very good quality, tasted lovely and for the price, the portion sizes were excellent. Soft drinks are very inexpensive, less than £2 for a latte is incredibly unusual. The decor of Jeffersons is clean, dated but to good taste. Will certainly be returning for more dining. Beautiful food at a very reasonable price.

Recently visited a weekday lunchtime. The staff were friendly and helpful as usual. We couldnt fault the food, it was hot, tasty and good sized portions. Visited with my daughter and was pleased to see lots of clean highchairs and a variety of designs. 3/5 rating given though as there are no baby change facilities!! Its 2016, how hard it is to put a pull down change table in the disabled toilet! Had to leave a distressed and dirty baby in an uncomfortable nappy until we had finished to change her at another venue up the street (forum 28) Not acceptable!!

Been here many times always nice pub grub pleasant atmosphere very good value for money I always order the gammon at under £9 I don't think you could find better ( just wish they would cook the peas and carrots a bit less)

Went here on a Saturday night and it was very busy , but managed to find a table and were attended to within a few minutes . Food was excellent and plentiful , good old fashioned pub grub ! Service great as usual , definitely recommend to anyone who is content with good quality pub food at very reasonable prices .

we havent been for a while so thought we would pop in for lunch while doing our shopping, managed to get a table on a very busy saturday, took our orders for drinks, then gave us some time to peruse the menu, hubby had cumberland sausage, i had scampi, both were delicious, but neither of us could finish, friendly service, and prompt delivery of food,

Visited today and was told (after my BBQ chicken melt came) there's no BBQ sauce with a BBQ chicken melt (I'd asked for it to be on the side, not all over it). So I asked for a little pot (as we were asked if we wanted sauces) to be told 'there's no need to speak to me like that'. I wasn't aware asking for sauce is nasty? So I told the girl (Lucy?) I wasn't speaking to her nastily. I would just like some BBQ sauce for my BBQ CHICKEN MELT! She got some and slammed it on the table. Food came and was nice as usual. At the end I was asked how it was. Lovely as per, but the girl has a bit of an attitude. Of course the girl in question came over and fought her corner. But again, told me I spoke to her like crap. And she now believed I was making stuff up about her. No apology for speaking to me unfairly. So I told her her customer service was shocking. To which, she dug her feet in and told me I spoke to her like crap again. I've never been spoken to like this and was shocked. I think this girl needs a lesson in customer service. Even if she thinks she's right, know when to quit. Don't stand at the bar blaming me for your lack of customer skills! Was then asked to leave. ASKED TO LEAVE!!! Been going there since I was a little girl, with my family. We won't be returning. I've never been so shocked with the way a waitress has spoken down to me. Complete lack of customer service skills. And to blame me.... When I simply asked for a pot of sauce? Disgusting behaviour. Maybe if she was seeing people and not chatting to her friends in the corner she'd have got the next tables order right too!

Reading the reviews on here it seems once again "massive portions "are most people's idea of a good reason to visit places fine if it's decent food my meal was made up more of crockery than anything edible, putting bookers own label products into ramakins isn't my idea of a decent meal,I would rather have half a dozen freshly made dishes on the menu changed once run out than frozen 3663 or brake bros shoved into 6 tiny bowls!

Once again we had a great value family meal with good tasty food and big portions . Excellent value for the money you pay . Nice staff ,who were attentive and friendly .

The surroundings aren't the nicest. The food is enjoyable, however nothing amazing. I would go again but there are other restaurants I would prefer to dine at.

Staff are friendly and efficient. Plenty of choices and staff accommodate different needs veggie/veganand lots of seating available. Toilets are modern and spotless.

Typical pub food ok for a cheap meal, good portions, it was handy for us as we were staying at the "Hotel Imperial".

What takes your fancyThey have in recent months put tables on footpaths to have your pint outside but bye laws limit your enjoyment in this area to which I agree on safety reasons being on a main road and traffic lights but it's a bit of comfort for smokers

Came for a meal yesterday and I don't think I have had such a quick service anywhere else. Waitress took our drink order as soona s we sat down and gave us extra time after brining the drink back to take our food order. 2 of the meals we ordered were not on the menu and they complied with the request. The food came quickly and was lovely. The waitresses do bring the bill to the table before the food is brought to you but if you are wanting dessert then they will amend your bill accordingly. Overall it was a great experience.

A nice little restaurant section attached to a pub, not quite a gastropub but in that direction.The food is very well priced and excellent quality, my personal favourite being the Masala, which I'll happily go back for again and again.

I have to say the food is nice the portion sizes are very generous I would defiantly recommend to anyone who likes good pub grub and great portion sizes

Went here on Boxing Day and wasn't disappointed , I haven't been in for a few years , but my wife and daughter have been in occasionally and have always enjoyed it . When the meals arrived I was amazed at the size of the portions ! It's good quality pub grub and the value for money won't be bettered anywhere locally . I couldn't even finish my meal it was that big ! Fast service and the staff were pleasant and helpful , all in all a good experience which I hope to repeat .

I had the Gammon egg and chips and I wasn't disappointed. very large potions and the food was very hot and arrived soon after ordering. Very reasonably priced.

I have been in three times now for a meal and enjoy the atmosphere for the cost of the meals. The service could be a little better and the red wine needs to add a little more quality. Position in town and tyhe fact that a competitor in Yates has now closed means it has a great future ahead of it.

Food was Ok nothing special, portion size was enormous, and had to leave some on the plate. Veg was a little uninspiring but on saying that was good value for the money. Would try again if in the area.

I've been a few times, determined to give it a chance because it is a very popular restaurant in the area. I've tried the gammon on various occasions, and the gammon itself is very nice. However, I really feel that if the company were to reduce their portions and improve the quality of the sides for example, the veg, etc. the restaurant would greatly improve, in my opinion. At the moment, the food is quite clearly cooked frozen which I think the managers compensate for by having mountains of food which is fine, but looking at competing restaurants in the area, food is quite often locally sourced and fresh which is a huge selling point. Extras like mayonnaise are also really poor quality which does reflect in the taste of the food, it would really be worth investing some more money into your products- the prices are really quite low so a slight increase in price alongside an improvement in quality would not be so bad?In addition, the waitress service is a bit hit and miss, sometimes the waitresses are very pleasant and other times very disinterested, and even rude. I also think that the policy of leaving the bill on the table before the customer has even seen their meal is a bit rude and for this reason alone my boyfriend and I went elsewhere for desserts/coffees whereas had we been approached by the waitress trying to upsell us desserts/coffees we would have definitely stayed and consequently the business would have made more money from our visit- missing a trick maybe?Overall I think I've given the place enough time to prove itself and unfortunately I just don't feel its very good, definitely needs a great deal of improvement.

This place was recommended to me for having good, honest food. Nothing pretentious. Unfortunately the Combo I had was very poor indeed. Everything tasted like it had been fried in old oil and beans were the cheapest of the cheap and over cooked. I've been feeling ill since eating and may yet be sick. My daughter had the gammon steak and the veg was cheap tinned carrots and peas. She only ate the gammon and a few frozen chips. I will not be returning. Having said all that I have no complaints about the service except that I found it rude to be presented with the bill prior to receiving our food.

a great place to have some lunch! the portions are absolutely massive and the food is delicious.. in a great spot in town too so great place to pop in for a drink or food while you're out and about

My partner and I visited Jeffersons for the first time and I've got to say we were both impressed with the friendly staff, great prices and brilliant portion sizes. In fact, they are the largest portion sizes I've seen for a long time!The food was of excellent standard, freshly prepared and presented very well.......oh did I mention the portion sizes!!? If, like us you are a family on a budget, I highly recommend a meal here.

I went with my husband on a week day after work. Its a busy place with a good menu. The food is good and well cooked. The only issue with it is you get so much. It over faced me and put me off abit really.The price is great 20 pound for two people including drinks.Gteat place if your in the town centre shopping

Called in for lunch. The food Was excellent. The largest portions I have had for many a day. Even the childs meal was huge. The menu had a good selection. If you feel like a hearty meal this is the place to eat. Will not break the bank, prices are good. Give it a try. I know you will be well pleased.

Went to the Custom House for a quick bite to eat, ended up having the 8oz Steak Burger, the wife had Soup and a filled baguette. Both were, as usual, great. Everything was tasty and hot and served with a smile. The staff could not do more for you....well done to all concerned.

Food lovely, ate here every night of our stay. Staff very pleasant, relaxed atmosphere, very reasonably priced aswell.

The food here is always great. massive portions for your money. Staff and service is great. My mother was coughing, a member of staff approached her and offered to get her some water, I thought this was very thoughtful. I Will be visiting again. There was a great atmosphere, not too loud but also not deserted.

Went on a family visit, tried to get attention of staff to order but they just carried away chatting, kids were moaning because they were hungry, food was nice enough. But after we'd finished plates sat there for ages until we left, was contemplating on having a dessert but the staff were too busy chatting about what they did at the weekend, there were only us and one other table in with 3 staff so it's not as if they were busy, the waitress saw me looking trying to catch her attention she carried on finishing her conversation then came over,
