Javits Takeaway Gilmerton in Edinburgh, City of

Was driving past and seen Gilmerton branch finally open again! Stopped and bought couple of pizzas and kids meals for children, food was freshly repaired didn’t wait long, big boss gave us some doner meat to try which was banging!! Keep up the hard work guys! Definitely worth the £££!!

Yesterday we ordered really big order. Everything was so fresh and delicious. For sure it's the best fast food whitch I ate in edinburgh

The staff are super friendly, food is fresh. Good selection of kebabs, burgers and wraps.

Best takeaway in the area so far, bought a javits special with the wife yesterday and it was delicious quality of the food was 💯! Won't regret going back prices are reasonable for the amount and quality of food.

Just left javits gilmerton have to say the full refurbishment is beautiful new shop and very clean! Staff are highly highenic and very welcoming; the atmosphere in the shop is amazing had a great laugh with Rachael! Bought couple of pizzas and wraps have to say It was delicious we all enjoyed it glad that javits is back! My only spot for takeaways thank you guys all the best guys yous are wonderful ❤

Placed a order via the javits Gilmerton app yesterday ordered a house special Turkish layered lasagna and pizza, food was amazing! Honestly can tell the standards are back to javits! Staff are also very friendly and polite! All the best guys my favourite local takeaway from now 💯

Very nice restaurant, we were greeted with a “goodbye”. Because we came from the Netherlands we received 2 salads and a bottle of Irn Bru on the house! When we arrived at the campsite, the pizzas turned out to be very tasty.

Wasn’t aware that they had changed hands. Too expensive now and so too has the quality of the kebabs went down with the change of hands. Our order arrived very late. We ordered cheese & tomato pizza which was absolutely tasteless and the bottom was burnt. The kebabs one the other hand were no better, too salty and sour (was probably old and out of date, luckily no food poisoning). Only good thing was the driver was polite and apologetic. Unfortunately they won’t be getting anymore business from me. Goodbye

First kebab In couple months and safe to say won't be back absolutely tasteless and it certainly wasn't lamb shish and yogurt chicken kebab with absolute freezing yogurt on top with very little chicken wasn't the same as last order. Waste of £26

Didn't know ownership had changed, made order via phone call, turned up to pick and saw new faces. I must say these people have no businesses preparing Kebabs and wraps, it even tasted bitter at a point. It is the worst food I have ever had in Edinburgh. The owners of Javits franchise better save their name than make money off it because this people will drag the brand down the gutter. If anyone knows where the former owner is, please share in the review section so that we can keep patronizing him.

WARNING STAY CLEAR Worst kebab I’ve ever had! I used to love a Javits kebab … especially the donner wrap. Since the owner has changed, unfortunately the food has too. I would not serve the donner meat to a dog, and the wraps are supermarket bought and the chilli sauce , well that’s another story. Tasteless meat, horrible wraps, and to add insult they charge you £10 To sum it up disgusting and disgraceful.

Got 2 lamb shish kebabs They were like a dogs dinner I wouldn't even give them to the dog the bin got them I phoned the shop to tell them and they said what do you want me to do .

Food has really gone downhill since change of owner. Would give n0 stars if possible. Meat cold chillisauce horrible, done kebab cold. Came with what looked like a flat bread no pitta. Bone dry. Definitely won't be back .very disappointed

Decent delivery but probably the worst hoggie wrap I’ve ever had. Came with cheddar cheese on it which is seriously overpowering and no sauce even though I ordered it. Wrap is soggy aswell.

kebab arrived barely warm drowned in sauce salad missing,the meat allegedly lamd tasted of nothing maybe that why they drown it in sauce, what an utter joke il refund it through my card provider

This place catches a few bad reviews, but we actually enjoyed it. Ordered a kebab and pizza and both were really nice. Kebab meat fresh unlike some other places and the pizza was lovely, and their chilli sauce is gorgeous has a nice kick to it.

Worst! We very rarely have kebabs but fancied it tonight the last time we ate from here there was no issue but tonight!! both kebabs came swimming in grease, there was actually a little puddle of grease in the bottom of the containers, the pittas were soggy the donner meat was actually a questionable colour never have I had a kebab where the meat is so light in colour and different colours of meat in one kebab, needless to say waste of money went in the bin and won’t be back

Food was good last time but on this occasion we ordered two Kebabs, both of which came without salad. I think the issue here lies with their ordering system.

I am not used to right reviews but i felt that this is the least that i could do to warn other people. I passed by the restaurant yesterday while having a walk and thought to check if they have got Halal meat or chicken, as the location is close to home and i can order delivery sometime. The response of the cook was surprising, he basically told me "if you are a Muslim then cook and eat at home, this is Britania...." (in a Russian like accent). Such a racist behaviour.... please be aware of such behaviour, be careful and stay safe.

IM RAGING!!! THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE they're cheese tastes exactly like glue, they're shop has junkies everywhere and the staff is rude and extremely unhelpful, if I could id give them 0 STARS!!! please NEVER GO THERE they're floors are greasier than Arthur Alexander Pearce. I'm ashamed

First time I've had a complaint about this shop and all the guy said was we are busy and might have other people trying to call I will not be ordering from here again as I ordered a chicken doner kebab and I get a mix of meat to which I was told not that can't be when I clearly had a piece of lamb doner meat mixed in to it plus the chicken I did get was dry and burnt not happy with their attitude the driver was nice tho

Best kebab meat I've tasted for a while

Javit's used to be amazing but something has happened over the last few months. The pizzas are terrible. They are almost always burnt. The cheese is burnt to a crisp, they are smaller than they used to be. The toppings are not as generous as they were. I really cannot get over how Javit's has gone downhill. Guys were super.

Possibly the worst experience I’ve had ordering a take away. Used Uber Eats. Order is an hour late so I phoned them and was told we’re just going to cancel your order! Guy was rude and not interested. Place seems to be a shambles. Avoid like the plague.

Ordered a pizza on uber eats and phoned after waiting 2 hours as hadn't received order yet.they said to my wife that we did not have an order.then I phoned back 5 mins later saying we had ordered and he said oh yes have u not received your pizza yet.well no mate I have not .otherwise I wouldn't be phoning.clearly in stead of lying just be a man and say u forgot to put our order on.so pizza finally arrives over cooked and burnt and a bleak apology fro m driver.any decent person would chuck in a bottle of juice to compensate.last time I ordered here the pizza was delicious nice and soft.not burnt and hard.never ever again will I order from here again.#worst pizza in edinburgh.

Since change of management, its not been the same ,portion sizes have definitely got smaller about half the size as before, looks like we have find new place which is a shame 🤔

We are loyal customers for many years . Loving the food, staff are very friendly and helpful . Unfortunately, portions got very small recently . We ordered chefs special kebab and it was half size then before :( price got up too. We will look for another take away if it continues

Went right down hill since our mate left to open his own place. This evening, kebabs delivered without salad or sauces. Expected to wait for the delivery driver to come back and food has long since gone cold. Not the first time somethings been forgotten or a burnt pizza been delivered. No mention of a refund or fresh food been sent out. Prices gone up too so would expect a decent service. Not happy with this place anymore.

Joke, ordered online it says delivery in 30mins & paid through PayPal, an hour later call the shop the guy can’t tell me how long my delivery will be? He knows exactly how long it will be but doesn’t want to tell me as he knows it’s going to take ages still, shouldn’t be telling customers it will be 30mins when placing order if u can’t do it.

Not the best if I'm honest. Ordered 2 items 1 was so greasy it was running down my fingers when I ate it. However the burger was brilliant. There was staff eating hanging over a counter while talking on the phone every time it rang which wasn't the best thing to look at. The owner needs to spend more time talking to all his customers and not just the ones he knows, would make a better atmosphere for all. All in all I wouldn't rush back to est again but if you decide to eat here I recomend the burgers.

Found this place by chance while I was heading to Edinburgh royal infirmary and I'm glad I had! If you like kebabs this is a must go to place! Service was great, with the two guys serving very friendly and chatty even though they were obviously busy. The kebab itselfnwas honestly the best I think I've ever had in Scotland and miles better than the usual "dug" meat served in most places. Was a bit more expensive than what u might expect however for what you got I would say well worth it. We only got a kebab and chicken pakora so I can't comment on anything else the pakora was kind of standard stuff but the kebab was excellent.

Great place, awesome staff, good delivery time and the food tastes good. I don't order take aways much, but I like this place so I'll be a regular there.

Just got a donor kebab delivered!! What little meat was on it was freezing for 6.50. I remember when you got loads on a kebab from this shop,pitta bread freezing and little bit salad,£8.50 ?? Aye right then !! Never again.

Ordered because we heard it was award winning. We ordered two kebabs, chips and pizza meal deal. It was a mediocre kebab and the pizza tasted like it was a frozen effort from farmfoods. Sorry, but really disappointing. Won't order from there again.

Food good but service is rubbish. I've placed the order and 40 min later it arrived. Food was ok. But my soft drink was missing. I called them back saying that the drink is missing. The guy said they will send someone straight away. No one ever showed up. Disappointing.

Pizza is lovely. Chips taste like they are from iceland and not fresh they are also not chippy chips. Asked for a little bit of sauce and they were drowned. The javits at wester hailes is much better! I will not be returning.

I grudge even giving this 1 star! The pizza is undercooked and a bit bland. The "chips" are not really chippy chips, they're French fries, probably purchased from the local Iceland! They are rank! And they were also completely swimming in sauce. The staff were also highly unorganised, running about like headless chickens! I will not return to this Javits. It's such a shame because the Javits in Granton is really good.
