Jamaya in Solihull

Superb. The Staff are really friendly and service is great good for families or adult dining.

We have been going to Jamaya (Touchwood, Solihull) since it opened. I wanted to let the daughter try something 'Caribbean' inspired. I am Trini🇹🇹 born & bred. Obviously, it cannot compare to what your mammy used to cook!. But Jamaya is the next best thing around here😋. We love it. We visit when we can afford to splash out a little. Daughter now prefers Jamaya instead of the other Chicken shop across the way!🤣. The mocktails are lovely. Have yet to try the cocktails but they sound yum! The food is scrumptious - I always order more than I can eat, cause then I can have a 'takeaway'( eyes always bigger than my belly!😆😂. Highly recommend the Bob Marley burger- extra hot( but if you're from the Caribbean, you would probably like it hotter- I do!). Festivals we always take home. Fried wings with jerk gravy😋😋😋😋😋 jerk cheesy fries😋😋😋😋😋, rice & peas😋😋😋😋😋, Mac & cheese 😋😋😋😋😋. We visited on mommy's day- the only negative was- the rum & raisin ice cream portion was very small & just looked like it had been the end of the tub🤷🏻‍♀️- but small issue. Staff always friendly, always helpful, even though they are busy. Atmosphere lovely. Decor lovely. It was good to see how busy it was on mommy's day. I hope to try the roast dinners- it looks scrummy😋 Overall- 10* £71.75 for 2 people

Went for the wife’s birthday at 2pm. Staff were friendly and efficient. Food were marvellous and cocktails spot on. Sana especially helpfully and friendly. Food was fantastic, thanks to Panashe the chef.

It’s a shame to write this because I’ve been here several times. I came 16th March and ordered the stew chicken. When It came it was luke warm so I sent it back. When the waiter brought it back to me (4 mins later) it was piping hot… clearly microwaved However the following day, turns out I have food poisoning… only you can explain why this happened? I will not be returning as there is clearly a poor practice with the preparing and cooking of food. I am so annoyed and dissapointed!

Absolutely fantastic! From start to finish the service was 10/10! The food was flavourful! I’m a black guy with Jamaican parents and I can say this 100% lived up to expectations! None of this frozen food business or reheated food or even so called jerk. This is the proper stuff! Jerk was beautiful and flavourful! Wings banging! Fried chicken very nice! I went to Jamaya a couple of weeks ago and couldn’t have had a better experience. Not only was the food great, but I was served by a lovely lady called Maise. This girl is a huge credit to your team, she made us feel so welcome and comfortable the second she approached us. Plus , if it wasn’t for her I’d probably still be there choosing what to have !!

Incredible food every time I come here. Service is always outstanding. Price point for lunch is fantastic value for money. If you live in Solihull, you need to get to this place.

Won’t be returning, food was a big let down. The hottest jerk level was mild and sweet, the portions were insufficient and the chicken was dry, the kids burger could’ve been finished in three bites it was so small. It wouldn’t be so much of an issue if the prices weren’t so high. If you want authentic Caribbean this isn’t the place to go.

I was disappointed with the meal, it was lukewarm and the rice and peas side dish was very dry and I needed to ask for some gravy. The soft drinks are overpriced and limited choice.

I am surprised I never tried this place before, even though I come to touchwood a million times a month. It has amazing food and lovely cocktails. The star of the show were the staff. They were so lovely. We had a great time. Will definitely be going there again!

Ordered with a few of my mates and the customer service of the waitress that served us and took the order was good. Food was nice, hearty portion and tasted nice. Would defo visit again and try something new purely because of the food, customer service and atmosphere.

Amazing relaxing place with great food. I actually finished all of what I ordered and I don't normally finish food in restaurants lol jamaya was introduced to me by my friends 9yr old son & we were extremely impressed with the food, staff & over all atmosphere of the restaurant. I'm hesitant to share this review, as I've been a patron of this restaurant for years and previously had positive experiences. Unfortunately, over the past two months, the quality has declined. During my last visit, I struggled to grab the waitress's attention, and my daughter and I completed our meal without satisfaction. When questioned about our experience, I mentioned that the Brown Stew and Chicken wrap fell short of the usual standard—scanty chicken and excessively dry. The waitress explained they had a new chef, apologized, and extended a 10% discount.

Food was great ! Just shocked when bill came and my son had 2 large glasses of coke @£6 a glass !!! It used to be unlimited soft drinks but now £12 for 2 cokes ! Such a shame as food and service was great but will be my last visit due to outrageous price for kids soft drink ( pint of red stripe is £5.50 )

The food was tasty but I hoped for a little more spice. When I asked if there was a hotter sauce I could have for my meal the server looked at my plate (I'd more than half finished my meal before anyone asked if our meal was ok) and said ' it's a bit late now isn't it' before walking away. Poor attitude.

Not great service at all. Turned up just now at 9:05pm to be told “we’re closing at 9:30” when I asked isn’t it 10? I was told they want to be cleaned and out by 10. Not great service and missed out on £50-£60 worth of custom. Young white blonde woman. 9pm today. Shameful service. Just to add, there were 0 customers in there with at least 4 members of staff. Refused to go in after those comments. Usually great but with service like that, principle wins.

Jamaya's grilled jerk chicken wrap has been a staple of my diet for a long time now. It really is my go-to comfort food. I must admit I'm rather bad and order the same meal (grilled jerk chicken wrap, fries, jamayo) 2-3 times a week usually. Absolutely love this restaurant! However the last 3 times I've ordered, the wrap has been very disappointing. The type of wrap used changed recently? And the 3 times I've ordered sunce that change, the new wraps have been tough, appear burnt, and genuinely do taste like cardboard - they spoil the wrap entirely. The last time I ate I threw most of the wrap in the bin and I haven't ordered again. Where did the nice tortillas go? EDITED after reply from restaurant: Thank you for the quick response! I appreciate things change and I definitely appreciate you taking the time to respond. I still love Jamaya - even with the change to the wrap, the fried chicken etc is just incredible. I'mma change from 4 stars to 5 stars because I think I was way too harsh removing a whole star just for the type of wrap used a few times.

The first time I've ever tried Jamaican food and I was not disappointed. The staff are very welcoming, friendly and informative and the food was amazing! They forgot one of our dishes but once I made them aware, it was served within 5 mins. The member who sat us to our table came over to offer us an additional portion to take home but we were absolutely stuffed so said thanks but no thanks. When the bill came, they'd taken the item off. Even with the mistake, I was happily going to tip but totally forgot 🤦‍♀️ I can't wait to go back!!

What a lovely little surprise this place is! Visiting Solihull fir the afternoon to do some shopping and when the hunger hit we thought we were going to have to succumb to the usual chain hum drum food but nestled in a far corner of the shopping center we found Jamaya. Not sure how many of these restaurant are around but BOOM boy you guys have got it right. We came (I presume) just after the lunchtime rush and the team were hard at at clearing down but fully attentive of service too. The decor is fabulous with a choice of rum to die for - If we were staying the night I'm sure I would tasted a few! The food was awesome 👌 👏. Chicken tenders, wrap, loaded fries and coleslaw. I have tried Jamaya in the restaurant and delivered. I won’t be returning. Unfortunately the hottest level of spice was super mild, and the flavour of the jerk suffered. 🌶 🚫 . The cook on the dark meat was good, but the breast both grilled and fried on the burger was dry. Experienced this both from delivery order and in the restaurant. The cassava chips are nice to see on menu but need salt/ flavour 🍟 The service in the restaurant was lacking, sticky tables and even though we went when is wasn’t busy service wasn’t good. Unfortunately Jamaya was style and branding over substance overall and not as authentic or dynamic flavour wise as I’d hoped for. 😞

I was flying from Birmingham airport and needed somewhere to eat quickly so googled Caribbean food (I'm from the Caribbean) and cam across this place. The food was lovely and come out quickly. (which is not the usual for Caribbean restaurants) I would definitely recommend and sad that there is not one of these closer to home as I'd be a frequent visitor. (I'm based in London)

The experience was brilliant. The staff is pleasant and welcoming. If you visit regularly, they will give you discount. The food is much better compared to the old Nandos across the corridor. The size of chicken is big and the price are reasonable. It's fulfilling size meals are freshly made. Post Edit: 19/10/2023 My recent visit to Jamaya to treat myself with the previously yummy experience of their Wings, turned out to be not as good as I did the first time. The wings were not fresh and hard to chew, seemed like reheated leftovers from previous day or something. You can see from the pictures I posted from my first day of trying their wings and to the ones I tried recently. Not happy Alas I won't be going back here again.

Jamaya is like a taste of holidays. Their Jam chicken and rice is a delicious bowl of tasty spicy chicken, rice and pea, and jerk gravy. Also plantain, max n cheese all good.

Starting off on a good note, the place is lovely and the staff are very friendly but the main reason for the visit (the food) was a massive let down. The chicken tenders were great, but i would say are too hot to be on a childrens menu! We waited over 20 minutes for a fruit shoot, even thought we were sat right next to the bar, We ordered chicken skewers, and i understand that they are probably good on a bbq/grill but the chicken smelt of pure gasoline! Before id even taken a piece off the skewer/plate, all i could smell was what i would describe as lighter fluid!!! Didnt put a piece in my mouth as the smell was so off-putting. No-one checked on our food throughout so we didnt have the opportunity to say there was an issue. Very disappointed and wouldn't recommend to anyone to be honest. Wont be a returning customer unfortunately!

First of all the food was pretty good! Not as spicy as expected but good. Unfortunately the service was quite bad. Our table was very sticky and wobbly and I had to ask multiple times for someone to give it a wipe. It wasn't much better after a 2sec clean but I gave up. The team was very unattentive, we were sitting in front of empty glasses multiple times and always had to call a waitress for another order. Most of the rums we wanted to try were unavailable. They confused our drinks as well. Even though we made a reservation more than a week before we sat at the most horribly located table where you get pushed constantly by the service team passing through the narrow gap. I am very disappointed as I was really looking forward to having a nice evening.

Started out great, lovely food etc. Last 4 times I've been trying to get in there's been the worst excuses. From limited menus, not enough workers, can't be bothered to stay open today because we aren't getting enough business. Never a manager there, and the stories don't match up when you ask to see managers etc. Shambles of a management apart from one girl who's always been very kind and great to talk to. . Drive all the way into touchwood, pay for parking, just to get refused service or some silly excuse. Would give it 0 stars now if they carry on like this. Went from being a go to for me and the lads to a complete boycott of the place now. They don't care about the regulars now that they're opening another branch in the city centre. Edit : I done an edit where they had improved, but once again it's gonna down the drain again. Food is great of course hence why I've always been going, but the service is abysmal. Every month they have a new rule in place, went today and I'm told they don't take walk ins of over 6 people on weekends. Actually exhausting to drive 25mins to be let down like that, I know it won't mean much to them, but actually boycotting the place now. I'll find somewhere else. Sick of it.

I rarely put reviews but I just wanted to say how lovely and kind everyone at Jamaya Solihull was, they're customer services is honestly so genuine and it made us feel looked after from start to finish. Cannot go wrong with this place, food is lovely, decor, drinks.. its such a great option and I would highly recommend even just for the good vibes (and food :P) haha!
