Jamaica Blue in Cambridge

I have been coming here for a good couple of years and always enjoy a coffee with friends after our round of golf. During this time, there has been a huge staff turnover. Really disappointed to see more recently though that the one young lady who always greeted us with a friendly smile and made the best coffee has gone off to university I believe . Now left with very young staff and some older but not as competent Barista’s! Food overpriced but generally Ok. Nice surrounding and spacious to meet with friends.

The staff were friendly. However, the food was very poor. I had the special. The bread was rock hard, and the chicken was some sort of I can't really explain. Half way through the plate, I found a hair and could face eating any more of it. There were a lit of fruit flies , around our table. The glass the water was in was not clean and the milk for the tea was presented in a cup which was stained. The tea pot was also pretty stained. Used the toilet before I left, the floor in the one working loo was filthy and the loo brush holder , which was clear plastic had brown liquid in it. Left feeling pretty unwell. Will not use again.

Nice orange chocolate cake, but no GF cakes available for my wife, who is coeliac ;-( Service was quick and coffee was good though

First ever visit. First impression on walking in, very smokey and greasy smell in the air, like a greasy spoon, no idea why, my eyes were stinging after a while as were my sons, although it looked clean enough and plenty of seats. Service fast. Midway through ordering the female staff member stopped and spoke to another staff member, when she looked back to me she couldn’t remember where we had got to so I had to repeat it all. No apology, no excuse, I find this attitude so rude. Anywhere. Food wise, in my opinion quite a fancy take on normal breakfast food. Just wanted slice of toast but they only serve sourdough which is not pleasant, so left it. Very expensive too for what you get. Not for me. There are much nicer and much better value places to eat there.

We wanted coffee and cake. The restaurant was busy but no one was in the queue. My husband was told it was 40 minutes for cake... he asked why and was told only the chefs can serve the cake and they were busy cooking.. REALLY....The cake is portioned ready to go. All they need to do was put a piece of cake on a plate. Absolutely ridiculous and so sad as their coffee and cake is good but not worth a 40 minute wait. Come on Jamaica Blu surely your staff can serve a piece of cake!!!

El menú aquí parece buena, pero ten cuidado del pan de masa agria es como comer una roca, no muy agradable. El servicio está bien, pero no siempre dan los pedidos correctos en más de una ocasión he tenido que pedir cosas no entregados. Como un croissant con mi café, no tan difícil. Muchos asientos normalmente puedes conseguir una mesa. Los precios son un poco altos para lo que ofrece.

Arrived and read the sign as we entered, take a seat and we will be with you shortly. We were sat near the till and staff were backwards and forwards to the till frequently however they excelled in completely ignoring us. We were quite fair but in the end we tired of our invisibility and went elsewhere where our custom was appreciated.

So glad we came across Jamaica Blue early on in our trip. Nice, airy space in a great location: sit quietly in the back or people watch in the front. Friendly staff (though, slight quibble, a few too many tables per server, it seems). Most of all: fabulous, fresh, healthy food, inventively and carefully prepared. We lunched here several times during our trip and have since worked on recreating one of the recipes at home, namely the Vegetarian Breakfast Roll with poached egg, avocado and caramelized onion. Highly recommend this place to travelers looking to add some well-prepared healthy, veggie meals to their Cambridge visit diets.

La preocupación encantadora comida pero la Chia Bowl nada a un valor de £6. 90. Básicamente un cereal cantidad bowl sirve en un recipiente grande para que parezca que se estaban poniendo relación calidad-precio. Valió la pena, no más de 4 libras. 50 también muy soso. Caro y no pedir de nuevo

Stopped here for late breakfast the other day. They were no very busy, the service was ok but the food came up my wife's eggs were nearly cold and my scrambled eggs were barely warm. The food presentation was a bit sloppy. Overall a very average breakfast. Plenty of seating here you don't need to book. The menu is quite good just wish they would not pre prepare food and leave it standing around.

When this place first opened it was great.On my last couple of visits the service has been terrible. Such long waits, drinks coming then food not for another 30 mins. Stone cold plates with hot food. Full English breakfast with them forgetting to put bacon on plate. Will not be visiting this place again!

I have visited Jamaica Blue 2 days ago and all I can say about the place is lovely. Amazing staff, girl at the counter was hilarious. Everyone was so nice and polite just as it should be in a restaurant. I had a vegetarian breakfast roll and a Flat white. Spot on. Will visit every time I get the chance.

I have visited this coffee shop many times and will note going back. I had a girl serve me, as I can only describe her as rude. Not a smile, thank you or any type of communication.

Love coming here as coffee and food are so good . Just need to up their game with the service as you sit down and get ignored. Went up to counter and they said someone will be over and still no one came. Had to get up again to get them to take my order. Food and coffee worth the wait though.

Good coffee and snacks, friendly, efficient service. A bit pricey and tables a bit close together (difficult to manoeuvre a wheelchair but there are chairs outside). I'm a local so I've tried lots of Cambridge coffee shops and I like it here - its one of my go to coffee places when out shopping.

Great Latte!! Deffo be returning for more. Make many big coffee brands seem pretty average. Badass bean 😊

As normal the other half was unsure on where to go to eat, so we popped into Jamaica Blue. I went for the big breakfast with scrambled eggs and she had the eggs bene with salmon, and they were both cooked perfectly!! The drinks were also spot on, great tasting coffee. The staff were very friendly and a really good vibe to the place. What was a spontaneous impulse choice of somewhere to eat will definitely become a regular for us both.

Jamaica Blue was highly recommended to me via friends, and I can see why. The atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable, and the food was delicious. They offer a great range of food from lighter lunches to snacks to bigger meals. Staff were helpful, and the store was lovely and clean. Will definitely be returning.

Perfect spot in Cambridge for a brunch, lunch or coffee and cake. We had lovely staff who greeted us and the store felt very friendly. We ordered coffee and cake which was served promptly. Coffee was amazing. See you again next week Jamaica Blue

When ever we find ourselves in Cambridge which is at least 8 times a month we go for a coffee at Jamaicablue Sadly as time has passed the standard has dropped I have had occasions where I couldn’t get a seat outside because passing shoppers where allowed to use the seating without making a purchaseThis in turn meant when we did get a seat no one came to take our order and sadly unless you go into the shop and tell them you would like service you are left Today order coffee and cake as usual having checked first that is was available unfortunately the waitress for got and when I asked for the cake no longer available Will go somewhere else from now on as no notice is taken of issues raised

Hemos usado Jamaica Blue, ya que es abierto y siempre he tenido buenas experiencias. Nuestra visita el sábado 14 de abril a las 11. 30 fue bastante decepcionante. El suelo en la esquina al lado del inodoro claramente no la habían limpiado en mucho tiempo, el asiento del inodoro estaba rota, no había papel higiénico en los dispensadores y no había jabón. Papel higiénico estaba disponible, pero el hecho de que ambos rodillos en el dosificador estaban vacíos sugiere que el inodoro no se ha limpiado en mucho tiempo y había una botella vacía de jabón como el dispensador de jabón estaba roto.Es una pena, ya que el café sabe muy bien, pero no regresaré ya que hay un montón de alternativas en Cambridge.

Cuando este lugar abrió fue precioso, pero no les ha ido mal. Llegamos y hay un cartel que dice "Tome asiento y le venga y tome su pedido". Cogimos un asiento y esperó. . Y esperamos.. Y esperamos.. Era bastante tranquilo y muchas mesas libres. Colmo fue cuando llegó una camarera y aclaro una mesa que obviamente era de suma importancia, especialmente cuando había muchas mesas para los clientes para elegir en lugar de tomar nuestro pedido. Nos rendimos a la izquierda, y fuimos a cerca de John Lewis donde nos dieron un servicio de primera clase y el desayuno era más barato.

Yo era un visitante frecuente de Jamaica Blue y han sido siempre un ventilador, sin embargo visité esta rama en el 15 de abril de 2018 y cuando ordenar mi comida, uno de los empleados me notificó que la comida es preparada en el mismo aceite. Yo soy un musulmán y al oír esto yo estaba indignado y decepcionado de que no se dijo que anteriormente me dijeron que eran salchichas y bacon cocinado en que el aceite también. Creo que eso debería ser claramente visible o dijeron a los clientes que tienen alergias a los alimentos o preferencias, ya que puede causar un poco de sufrimiento.

Popped in here for coffee and cake with friends. Place was about half full and we sat at the back so we could chat quietly, but the tables were tiny, and so had to move the large clip folder (for a tiny menu) onto a different table along with the salt and pepper pots. (You would eat a meal on one of these??). Maybe designed ore for peple having coffee on their own. I don't know why, but found it extremely irritating that the prices were displayed as 2.7 rather than £2.70, and the cake variety was a little disappointing so did not bother with one. Waitress was lovely though.

Popped in for lunch, were lucky to get a table as very busy. However quick service. We both had the pea and halloumi fritters with crispy bacon, delicious! Will definitely visit again when in Cambridge.

Stopped for a quick coffee which was enjoyable and must say the place was packed and food looked great which we could see being served so will definitely be back.

We had just collected our son from Christ's collage, for his Easter break and were feeling hungry after driving up from West Sussex, so we decided to have breakfast and a blue mountain cappuccino each. I have to say it was the best cappuccino I have had in Cambridge along with their full English breakfast well done team Jamaica blue, we will be back again soon.

Tried a coconut berry smoothie, it does taste like coconut water and banana, but unable to taste any of the remaining ingredients (blueberries, almond meal, honey), so a bit disappointed. Also, some of the dishes we wanted to order were no longer available.

Been here twice. I had eggs on bagel or eggs Benedict. Both times, eggs were cooked pretty fine. But the portions are not that generous. I mean, you don't get very excited when you see your plate. Anyway, the taste was also average. Tea is ok. Prices are tiny bit higher wheb compared the quality of the food. I dont think I'll give it a third chance.

Stopped here today for a quick breakfast, greeted by friendly staff, nice menu plenty of options really nice coffee and teas, everything was prepared fresh, plenty of seating. Worth a stop off portion sizes were also very good.

This is one of the very few places that can make poached eggs just how I like them at home. yes I am fussy, but if a place can do a good poached egg then they win in my book. The downside of visiting here is the wait for staff to take your order, and a while for your coffee to finally arrive at your table and yet today on my visit I had only just sat down at a table for 2 seconds when one of the waiting staff was asking what I would like to order. The coffee took a little while to come to the table, and I had to flag someone down to take my food order, and then it seemed to take ages for someone to take my payment. However this hasn't stopped my visiting as my niece always asked me to take her there for lunch during the school holidays.

I've been to Jamaica Blue twice now and the hot chocolate is one of the best in town and a really decent price too. However, both times I've been there, there's been little flies (the ones you get around dustbins) flying about the café. It's really off putting; I saw children on one table trying to squash them and by the end of my drink, three of them had gone into my mug. Very unpleasant indeed! If they don't do something about it, I don't think I'll be able to go back there sadly.

Always seemed packed and on this shopping trip we decided to see what the fuss was about. Managed to sit down and waited to be served. All staff very welcoming and with smiles on their face. The mountain blue coffee was really nice and very tasty. Would I return: yeah defiantly

Nice surroundings and variety of drinks and food with nearby plugs to recharge your mobile.A good place to relax after shopping in the Mall. Coffee and cakes were very nice.

Popped in today for a quick coffee and a cake before meeting friends elsewhere. Tried to order at the counter - was told to sit down as there was table service. Sat down at a table indicated by the server and... waited. The cafe was very quiet but the waiter just ambled about completely ignoring us despite having to walk right past us to get to the kitchen. After 10 - 15 minutes we gave up and went elsewhere. Might have just been a poor waiter and the menu looked nice but won't be returning!

Not often I can be bothered to write a review at the table, but honestly have difficult can it be for a pasty to come with a coffee?

Came in early one morning, had a lovely cup of coffee and a VERY good breakfast. Was quite busy for so early in the morning but my waiter Josh was very good, fast and very polite. I would recommend this this cafe a lot, maybe stay clear later in the day as I have seen it very busy at times.
