Jamacablue in Cambridge

First ever visit. First impression on walking in, very smokey and greasy smell in the air, like a greasy spoon, no idea why, my eyes were stinging after a while as were my sons, although it looked clean enough and plenty of seats. Service fast. Midway through ordering the female staff member stopped and spoke to another staff member, when she looked back to me she couldn’t remember where we had got to so I had to repeat it all. No apology, no excuse, I find this attitude so rude. Anywhere. Food wise, in my opinion quite a fancy take on normal breakfast food. Just wanted slice of toast but they only serve sourdough which is not pleasant, so left it. Very expensive too for what you get. Not for me. There are much nicer and much better value places to eat there.

We wanted coffee and cake. The restaurant was busy but no one was in the queue. My husband was told it was 40 minutes for cake... he asked why and was told only the chefs can serve the cake and they were busy cooking.. REALLY....The cake is portioned ready to go. All they need to do was put a piece of cake on a plate. Absolutely ridiculous and so sad as their coffee and cake is good but not worth a 40 minute wait. Come on Jamaica Blu surely your staff can serve a piece of cake!!!

Don’t waste your money on this place. I came to this cafe with my family and was so disappointed. Firstly, our eggs were cold and overdone, both poached and fried. The toast was cold, the beans were luke warm and the sausages and bacon were cold. In fact, the only thing that was warm was the cherry tomatoes. It all tasted average but definitely not worth the money we paid. The hash browns were underdone and soggy. We ordered kids pancakes also, which tasted lovely but were absolutely swimming in syrup! Im not exaggerating, they were soaked. We couldn’t finish them as they were too sickly after just one small pancake! The coffee’s were nice and the gingerbread hot chocolate was nice but I’ve honestly left feeling robbed. Will never return sadly.

Ordered coffee and food. 20 minutes later reminded them. Sorry we lost your order! 15 minutes later coffee arrives. 10 minutes later again food. There are so many staff, but clearly they lack experience and direction. Miss it.

Jamaica Blue is now located at Kingsway Golf centre, Melbourn. Unfortunately, it appears a lot of the same bad practices have moved with the business. Its new location has a huge captive market with loads of potential customers playing golf or going to the driving range. There is no front of house service so new customers have absolutely no idea how service operates, this should be made clearer. Certain items on the menu weren't available at the time but no one was notified of this prior to ordering. Following ordering we waited 30 minutes for our food to be served. My wife ordered pancakes - underdone in the center and topped with dangerously volcanic blueberries. The steak stack sack was acceptable. Clearly, nothing was done with the order for 25 mins and then it was rushed out in the last 5 minutes. There appeared to be a lot of staff, but no evidence of management. A great pity. Fortunately, the surrounding area has many great eateries, so, boycotting Jamaica Blue will be extra easy. Happy to return once you've fixed your food and service.

Called in and obeyed the Covid instructions. The assistant in front of me would not even acknowledge me. I find that an incredibly poor attitude . I gave her every chance. Walked out and got adequately served elsewhere and will never return.

So when I arrived no staff greeted me at the door to take me to a table It felt rude to just walk in I couldn’t take a seat because there were piles of plates on each table Tables were not clean I ordered Odd system The layout needs to be changed I don’t appreciate having a table near the toilets it’s disgusting and unhealthy Food was cold no wonder it took 10mins I ordered the vegan breakfast containing sour dough toast avocado cooked tomatoes one mushroom and very small hash browns As soon as I ate the mushrooms and avocado I spat it out it had the taste of vinegar It wasn’t fresh When I got home i felt very nauseas and I’ve had vomiting and stomach pains all night since They claimed it was mixed with lemon juice I didn’t taste lemon … I tasted vinegar I’m still unsure how it made me vomit but I was perfectly fine before I ate here As a waitress myself else where I’m very fast paced, I felt like i had to get up and do their job for them or tell them to clear tables because the mess bugged me that much and many others complained too Short staffed or not it won’t take 5 mins to clear all tables busy or not You see it clean it To avoid complaints be polite and create a welcoming environment keep busy keep clean All staff looked miserable which drives customers away Thankfully I got a refund on my meal But it won’t change my health and a sorry isn’t good enough for me

Definitely the best coffee in cambridge!!! Been coming weekly without fail for years! The lockdown period we truly missed their gorgeous coffee and friendly service!! So happy to be sipping on their delicious blends again! Eggs benny is the best in town!! Truly cannot get over how lovely they are every time! Always have to leave room for a cake (or two) but what makes this cafe stand out is the truly lovely and caring staff! They go above and beyond and have always been such a pleasure to be served by! This miserable excuse of a cafe was a disaster. Staff were not only rude to the adults but the one quiet young lad we had with us was treated the same. The young female waitress who served us was blunt and her attitude and language to us as well as other customers was disgusting. The food/sandwich was rock solid and the hot drinks were luke warm at best. We will never bother to come here again and I advise you not to waste your time or money either.

From the table service right the way through to the quality of the food, this was a faultless experience at Jamaica Blue. The pancakes with chopped banana was sweet and quite substantial in terms of portion size. Extra syrup was provided to us without fuss and delay too. The pancakes themselves were fluffy and stuffed full of blueberries and the hot chocolate (salted caramel tones, for me) was right on the money. The coffee house itself is very warm and welcoming. COVID secure measures were followed to the letter of the law and, all in all, it was the perfect, leisurely experience you’d want.

Popped in for a quick cup of coffee earlier this week. One cup turned into a stack of delicous pancakes (and a few extra cups of coffee). The signature blend really is a worthwhile choice. The only thing better than the coffee, was the warm, friendly, and attentive service , particularly from Nicola. I'll be coming back whenever I get the chance.

Food quality has gone down hill. Avocado smash had only feta on one slice - sourdough toast was not toasted and soggy. We asked for boiled eggs and when we got poached we got told they don’t do boiled but no alternative or refund was offered. One hot chocolate had marshmallows the other didn’t. Used to love it here but would be wary of revisiting

Came in the middle of a busy day. Stopped for a quick coffee but was tempted by an open flatbread and a cake! Food was delicious but service was absolutely fantastic! Bubbly young lady who despite being rushed off her feet gave wonderful service and recommended the artichoke open sandwich! Truly to die for, will be back soon!

They do not clean the table after each customer - they clean the tables next to the entrance, but the tables inside - it’s a different story. Just to be clear here - the tables were not dirty, but a good practice in current times...

Really enjoyed the steak stack (beautifully cooked poached egg, composition of flavours and presentation was excellent) and blueberry smoothie.
