Jak's Bar in Kensington and Chelsea

I’ve been coming to jaks for quite a number of years. Tonight I had someone start on me in the bar completely unnecessarily. When I was leaving he followed me out and stood outside saying he wanted to take me around the corner and deck me and my friend who were trying to leave. He then asked the bouncer what he should do, who replied ‘don’t worry I won’t say anything just take them around the corner so the cctv can’t see’. The bouncer had no idea who I was or what had happened. I’m reporting this to my local councillor Rachel Robarhan as well as the local police. Do not go here. It’s a dangerous place, the bouncers are crooked.

Julia’s service was outstanding, greeted me at the door and was extremely attentive and professional. I have come to jaks many times and the staff have always been exceptional with the customer service and care.

Went there on my day off to try a new bar in London and enjoyed the attentive service and nice drinks. Paola, the bartender, was so nice and very professional! Will go back ;)

A nice living room styled space but overly expensive pizza, £17.00 for the special with chicken and peppers? Anyhow good sofas and random TV and radios playing in the bathrooms!

Very good place, would recommend especially if your looking for a chilled weekday relaxing evening. The ambients and atmosphere was excellent and the staff were very good.

What to say about this place without being offensive? First, I'm struggling to find any positives about this place. I guess the location is probably the only positive point. Terrible atmosphere! The music is far too loud; the decoration is just pretentious and screams a lack of taste! It honestly looks like a bad Russian sex bar; but without the sex (thank God!) There is too much furniture! Pretentious service and far from friendly! Extremely overpriced! The gins were OK.

Maybe one of the best cocktail bars in London! Well-finished, neat, stylish. Their cocktails are fantastic. Nice atmosphere, good dj-set, very accurate bartenders. Staff's amazing! One of the girls in particular, Paola, is so nice, she's very careful and kind. Highly recommended 👌

By far the worst experience I’ve had in a 2023 £54 for 3 tequila shots had to ask for salt took about 10 mins. I used to love this place but it’s the least welcoming place now.

Overpriced cocktails for the quality and atmosphere.

An ok bar with a lively, boozy atmosphere. But cocktails were quite mediocre and stupidly overpriced, must have better quality if charging top price

I'm not gonna spend too much time on a review here. If it was expensive but the food was great I wouldn't be leaving a review. If it was cheap and the food and drinks were bad I wouldn't be leaving a review. Unfortunately, it was eye wateringly expensive and everything was terrible. The food was frozen pub grub, the drinks were bad and served in plastics glasses, the service was impersonal. I have genuinely never been somewhere where the difference between quality and price were so apparent. Please don't waste your money. There are so many nice places in this area - go somewhere else.

Casual space. Great salads Nice soups but £6.50 for a side plate size of poorly cooked chips is not the best advert. Whilst overpriced the other items we had were tasty great variety of salads. The design has not allowed for a "Sense of arrival". Entry is a little tricky as there are tables right up to both main doors.

The evening and service was great inside until we left. The bouncer Mike was very rude, as soon as we left we gathered further down the road (4 houses down) to discuss where to go to next and Mike approached us and very disrespectfully told us we were bothering the neighbors and had to move along, we were extremely quiet and definitely were not bothering neighbors and we were nowhere near Jaks at this point. He then became more aggressive and ruder until we moved away. Not what you’d expect from Bouncers of a bar you’ve just exited from.

Walton Street is going through something of a renaissance. The Brompton Rd end has, in recent years, seen several new, high end shops mingle with independent specialists and when combined with a similar flurry of activity in Draycott Ave it has created a mini-quarter of some merit. Jak's have not only a cocktail bar but a delicatessen on Walton. But this review is about the bar. The decor is a mix of 70s style low tables, pinball memorabilia and some rather clunky barstool, high tables nearer the entrance. The music forms a rather unimaginative soundtrack (although there are a set of DJ tables so some nights it might improve?) and when we visited a large TV screen played an old Tom Hanks film silently. If you were interested, subtitles had been switched on 🤔. Prices are what you might expect in this part of London £17-21 for a cocktail and slightly less for a glass of wine. The cocktail list is extensive enough. My party visited on a Saturday night around 9pm. Yes, not quite the cocktail hour but surely a popular time?? The crowd was eclectic, looking like a party in search of a venue. The service was quick and helpful. The cocktails though were very average. Loaded with ice and those useless paper straws which made drinking them an effort (that this reviewer would have happily foregone). We stayed for 2 rounds but switched to wine for the second and the bill for 4 people was £117. Jak's bar certainly adds to the aesthetic of Walton St but doesn't serve up a memorable experience.

Stellar ambiance. Had comfy couches and chairs to make it feel like hanging in living room. Friendly and prompt service. Came back to check on the drinks Had a DJ that was spinning fantastic tunes. Overall good experience highly recommend!!

This place is amazing but very expensive. The choices of tequilas is the reason I would go back again, but watch price per shot. Staff is very knowledgeable and I assume they work here for the love of the bar not just salary. I could be wrong. I hope not

Work event on Friday night. Good vibe and quick service. The shared platters were nice, always not enough but I can't complain. Dj was there after dinner until late night.

Came with friends and having been here before I was looking forward to it. Friendly staff sat us down and as before I checked out the fish on offer in the hot plates. I’ve had the salmon and cod before and enjoyed them however, the fish looked dry and unappetising..shame. I went for pizza like my friends and chose the Regina Parma ham, it looked good when it arrived but we all felt that it was undercooked making it soft and stodgy in the middle. So unfortunately we didn’t enjoy this experience, we will return but next time I will ask for a freshly cooked fish or we’ll cooked pizza.

RACIST Bouncer took one look at us at the door and said verbatim "you're at the wrong place". Would not listen when we said we had a reservation until we named a friend who worked here. Then he checked and found our res and let us in without an apology. If you're black STAY AWAY

Absolutely love this place! All of the staff are very attentive and friendly. It’s great ambience, wide range of cocktails and cool DJs ensure a memorable time.

Only went in for drinks to the basment bar. A bit of a tourist trap, very overpriced for a low quality of drink. 3 gin and tonics cam to £52 and this was standard gin and not even nice tonic. Would say this bar is a rip off, would no recommend this place and would avoid this for drinks.

Good place to go for a cocktail !!!

I love this place , it's one of my fav cocktails bar , i always go with my friends , and the atmosphere is amazing , i usually been served by Paola , she's amazing with her customers, however every member of the staff is super friendly and the cocktails are fantastic. Thanks for making me feel always welcomed . I will highly recommend Jak's bar .

Drinks were hideously overpriced - £10 for a 330ml bottle of Asahi! Understand this is in Chelsea but this is ridiculous. Food was very very average and overpriced for what it was. Service was slow but staff were friendly. Don’t go if you want to talk while eating your meal. Jaks was very nicely decorated and the lighting was very pretty.

Scam. Don’t ever go there. They rip you off by charging extremely high prices for drinks. They charge me 35 pounds for one gin tonic and gin beefeater. Crazy

Hi popped in for lunch on Monday and we were the only dinners. We ordered a lasagna and Parmigianino. Waitress had zero personality. Food came up within minutes and we had to send both dishes back. They are only just warm. How can you get it so wrong? Only dinners and cold food. £66.00 and out within 30 mins. Top. Very disappointing. I should have taken heed. Never easy in an empty restaurant.

This place has gone way down hill. There were flies in the toilet, the seats are stained and fraying, the cocktails are terrible and everything is over priced. It’s embarrassing.

Ordered two different gin & tonics, but got two gin and soda water. They both tasted awful! As if the gin was severely watered down even before you had put the tonic (soda water in) . The atmosphere is awful, then they charged 46 pounds for 2 gins and tonics. Do not go this place avoid Like the plaque!!!

Quick Sunday night supper. The staff were charming, cocktails good. Pizza fine, salads good. Mushroom risotto and 4 cheese risottos were over cooked and tasteless. Rice must have been cooked in water, not broth. Chef left out the mushrooms and the cheese. No salt. Dreadful!! Worst risottos we have ever tasted (because there was no taste).

Normally a big fan of Jak’s (I always go to the one on Kings Road). The staff were okay until an hour later when we headed to our car which was parked right outside and saw that it had been broken into and a lot of our stuff was stolen. The security apparently didn’t see anything and the response from the Jak’s staff was that things like this happen all the time. And that was that.

whilst walking towards South Kensington tube station we stumbled upon this bar on a friday night, it was empty on arrival but very quickly more customers walked in. We had the best bramble I have tasted, Would love to return,

Great decor, very very very good and attentive service and tasty cocktails. Plus dog friendly! It’s on the more expensive side, but it’s South Kensington- a cheap drink comes in a form of a vodka bottle in your own flat. Worth every penny, will be coming back.

Nice bar - kind and attentive staff with a good selection of drinks. There was a strong eggy smell in the place, and the drinks were expensive - but this is perhaps to be expected considering the area (price not egg). The crowd on a Saturday night is largely international students, and had a good atmosphere.

Amazing atmosphere and DJ on sat night, however experience was sadly ruined by a power hungry bouncer who was determined to ruin our night after we left and swore at me and cursed my mum?! Out of nowhere when we were quietly waiting for a taxi home. Extremely unprofessional and rude. I have video evidence of this and subsequent police report of this aggressive individual.

It used to be affordable since covid the prices are so high I paid £72,00 for salad and microwave chicken for that price I would have rather go to a proper restaurant not a microwave one and on the top they give you very small portions ( rat portions ) what a joke I will put my foot in that place ever again

Waited 1h30 for our booked table of 11. Finally got half of the table served whilst the others had not been served yet and got given the bill before finishing our meals. The manager was was horribly disrespectful and did not compensante for the outrageous service. The waiters were very nice but horrible management. We got told to leave before we could finish our below average meals. Overall horrible experience.

I have been going to Jak's for many years. I simply love this place. A huge credit to Managers, People and Staff working there. Outstanding service and attention. The place buzzes in the evenings with great crowds. Even during very busy weekends, staff makes sure you are happy. Big fan of their fresh fruit Cocktails. Watermelon and Green Apple Martini is a MUST try. Being a Vegetarian myself, I find their Italian and Mediterranean dishes truly satisfying and tasty. I have taken many friends there and every single one enjoyed their time and keeps going back. Their basement bar takes you into a trance. Wishing them the very best!

It's an alright place food food and drink. The atmosphere is good and service is friendly, but the drinks are very pricey and seemed a bit weak. Pizza was okay but overloaded with cheese which made it quite soggy.

Cesar made us feel very welcome and his cocktails were absolutely gorgeous! I look forward to coming back to the neighbourhood bar :)

Very nice place to take some drinks with friends. Really comfortable and very good staff. The bartenders are so good!! One of them, Cesar, made this amazing cocktail and his service was excellent. 100% recommended.

First time at Jak's bar. Staff were all fantastic at recommending drinks (I personally love the Bitter Spice) and lovely. Great selection of spirits. Will definitely be back.
