January 8th 2025, I was briefly in London (live in the Netherlands) and met with childhood friends from all over the world, that I haven't seen for years, at Bluebird (was a referral from my sister). I am very sorry that we met there as in short we had HORRIBLE, RUDE AND SARCASTIC ATTUTUDE AND SERVICE FROM MARION (who served us with a long face and rude comments) and the food quality was not aligned with the prices and definitely not the service. HE RUINED OUR NIGHT & VIBE. The trigger for him was that when 2 friends came, 1 chair was missing and in my haste, I didn't see anyone around, I pulled a chair from the next table which was empty (the whole night there were max 3-4 table in the grand salon) and he did not like that! I apologized to him (he can also apologize for not being there but I did and he didn't') and he was not happy still. Then he posed a question to the whole table: "Would you like to move somewhere else? so we said, we are fine here, "Would YOU like us to move?" He said no. We were already 8 people at the table and as I said it was quite empty in the salon-we did not understand his reasoning and he did not explain it. Then he said: "YOU MAY GET BAD SERVİCE HERE," with a long face and left-kind of threatening us with bad service. Well he gave us bad service as he said so! He was so rude and made us so uncomfortable that his mean attitude along with the super high bill is the only thing we all remember from Bluebird. High bill, bad service, average food.

We sat upstairs. Service was awful. Waited for 10 minutes for someone to take our order. In the end we had to go to the bar. Very disappointed.

Went for afternoon tea and topped up with a cocktail each. Afternoon tea was £38pp and a cocktail was £15pp. There’s a 14.5% service charge which is fine and we kept on as there was nothing egregious about the service: service was just fine. Afternoon tea is fine but I would generally look for another location in future. Overall I would class this price category as a mid tier option for afternoon tea at about £40 including service charge. I think the most annoying thing was that you get a choice of four teas (we did earl grey and english breakfast) or coffee but we weren’t told if they were refillable and were never offered a refill (hence why we just ended up on a cocktail). However, these teas were teabags (Brew Co Company) which is a bit of a shame for the price. On the food, there were some pros absolutely, the scones were delicious and warm and had a softness to them and some of the pastries were really good (enjoyed the victoria sponge and the macaron). The cocktails are good here too, this is a separate purchase to our afternoon tea but they are STRONG and for £15 (cosmo and hugo spritz) we felt we got our moneys worth? However, and i WISH i got a photo, there are quite a few cons to the food. Finger sandwiches are smaller than the standard finger sandwich which is completely fine but the filling was also completely lacking, I think the cucumber and egg sandwiches quite literally had a smearing of filling (probably because we attended at 4pm and were maybe on the leftovers of the day) but still a shame. On the timing though, the bread on three of our sandwiches was quite stale and since we were never asked how everything was, we never really got the chance to flag this. Atmosphere was fine, really lovely location, just be mindful a lot of people come here to look cool so we were suffering from a LOT of other tables taking constant flash photography and one table with a barking dog that never got addressed but that’s sometimes what you expect and pay for with these mid tier options.

Overall, a bit pricey for what it offers. However, their £23 voucher for a three-course meal and a glass of prosecco is a good deal if you wanna try this restaurant.

Horrible! Terrible. I was there with a service dog and they wouldn't let me in. A service dog is not a pet. They said dogs are only allowed until 9pm.

Had a great afternoon tea experience during our visit in August 2024!! The staff, especially Patricia was very accommodating - and even made sure we get the afternoon tea, even though we were a couple of hours earlier than the tea start time. The tea itself and the snacks were delicious - and the ambience was fabulous! Highly recommend as a must have experience when you visit London.

Bluebird is definitely DOG FRIENDLY. My dog was pretty chill in the restaurant. She felt welcome by the friendly staff. There was a whippet as well. The restaurant is listed in the Dog-Friendly Chelsea Map which shows the shops and restaurants welcoming dogs. I possibly had the best Sunday Roast ever. Yes, it's more expensive than ordinary pubs. The rump steak was so tender, moist and flavourful. A generous portion of roast vegetables accompanied the rump steak and a giant crispy Yorkshire pudding. The roast potatoes were so delicious and crispy. (Forget about the calories 😀). My dog also liked the seasonal vegetables 😀 After finishing the whole plate, my tummy had no room for dessert. I will go back to try the roast pork next time.

Excellent Service and Good Food, the staff are lovely and the atmosphere holds a good balance between ambiance and liveliness. I really expected more from the food as it wasn’t in any way anything to shout about. Would recommend coming here for brunch or dinner but if you’re coming specifically for the food there are some top spots in the area.

We were very much looking forward to dining here but left quite disappointed. The staff were disinterested and unfriendly, and the food was just average. It was the end of the night on Boxing Day, but that shouldn’t matter.

Went to the Bluebird in November for an afternoon tea as a treat from my daughter for my birthday. The food was fine but the service appalling! I found a hair in my plate and when I made the waitress aware of the situation, her response was “beurk!”, said sorry and removed the plate. During the whole time we were in, especially after what happened, not once did she come and check on us if we were fine or even asked if we wanted more drinks but she seemed to give all her attention to the couple behind us whom I suppose were having lunch and might probably be regular customers. This is not the point, people should be receiving the same attention, regardless of what they are consuming, being regulars or not. This situation reminded me of the Titanic and made me feel like a third class citizen! We didn’t expect such poor customer service especially from a place like yours!

So disappointing. Just paid £160 per person for the fixed Christmas menu and I almost feel ill at the amount we paid for the horrendous food that was served up. First, the good aspects: beautiful restaurant and good service. Amuse bouche was lovely. For the starters, 2 of us had the rigatoni which was ok. Pasta was overcooked and the sauce was bland and watery with a couple of slivers of truffle to try to add flavour: 3/10. Smoked salmon: How can you get that wrong? Well they did and 2/3 was left on the plate. The stale bread roll accompanied it nicely. Mains: well, that’s what sucked the Christmas life out of me. Rib eye beef - the choices we were told were pink and well done. Really? Pink translated to sinewy, rubbery, chewy, uncooked and unseasoned. The poor cow would be ashamed of its sacrifice. Well done, I mean what the? Did they boil it and leave it outside a few days in the sun? Is that a new method of cooking meat? The gnocchi sounded amazing. Sadly, the ‘chilli’ was loads of capsicum. Yes, capsicum, a flavour that overwhelms everything else around it. 0/10 for each. My wife had the turkey to get into the spirit. Apparently it was ok, 5/10. Still, she ate maybe half. Finally, dessert: creme brulee was ok, slightly bland but at least not eggy. The black forrest mousse was sad but edible. I know it’s Christmas and I know it’s Chelsea but come on people, this goes beyond taking the you know what. Even the stagg seemed apologetic at what was being served. The homeless would have eaten better than us today. If you’re stuck for somewhere to dine on Christmas lunch, just find your local pub or make some toast.

Just several points to mention: - obvious last call from the bar would be very useful - no sitting options for the whole evening is not very comfortable - some rational music volume control is needed, as sometimes people went talking to the wardrobe area just to hear each other.

We booked an afternoon tea at Bluebird with specific dietary requests (one regular, one vegetarian, and one for a vegetarian/coeliac). Upon arrival, it seemed our pre-arranged details had been overlooked, as all three of us ended up with vegetarian spreads. The option meant for the coeliac guest was noticeably lacking, especially in the sandwich selection, and instead of the usual scones, my wife received bread rolls served with jam and cream (very strange!) Our visit must've coincided with a shift change to evening service, which may explain the lacklustre service, including a noticeable lack of attention from the staff. We found ourselves asking multiple times just for some water, and there were no spoons provided for our tea. The overall experience felt rushed and disappointing, compounded by rather bland offerings. Additionally, an automatic 14.5% service charge was added to our bill. While I understand the necessity of these charges for the staff’s livelihood, it felt unmerited on this occasion. It appears that management may need to tighten their grip on the restaurant’s operations, a sentiment echoed by other reviewers. Overall, a regrettable experience at a place we had high hopes for.

I used to love Bluebird but haven’t been in a couple of years. I booked it for a special lunch with my daughter and when we got there, I was told we didn’t have a reservation. After a long back and forth, they realised they had booked us for the wrong day (I called in). We were told there was room but it unfolded like a bad comedy once we were walked to a tiny table in their work space by the bar. I won’t bore you with every detail of the hostesses’ lack of consideration, professionalism, and in some cases, awareness (who sits a 4.5 year old child in a low chair with the table up to her forehead?), but it was enough for me to decide to go back out into the freezing cold and walk my now very hungry child to The Ivy, hoping I could get us in at 12:45 on a Saturday. They were slammed but made room for us. Unsurprisingly, the service and food were both impeccable and it turned out to be a perfect lunch. That’s why I’ll just be booking there straightaway from now on.
