We had a lovely Indonesian food here. Although I chose the hottest fish dish, it wasn't spicy enough for me. It's a nice, small place with a few Indonesian wood carvings mounted on the walls and displayed everywhere. I was disappointed to get a tea bag when I asked for a Jasmin Tea. The staff members were very helpful.

Love the food and come here once a month, the laksa is amazing, the chef does not skim on the ingredients and it is very tasteful. Even my 7 year old eats it as she loves it so much and the price is unbeatable.

Friend and I had an excellent lunch - great value and good choice from a really interesting menu. Would say vegetarian spring rolls crispiest I have ever had, and left some of my delicious (chicken in sweet soy sauce with rice) main course only because the portion was so very generous. Pleasant waitress, attractive decor and good food at a great price hence five stars.

I had dinner here today with my girlfriends, I have been wanting to come here for a long time as I walk in front of the restaurant every week. And OMG, it did not disappoint. The food was amazing, the place is very nicely decorated and cozy, and the customer service was great too. My friends said we need to come more times so that we can taste all the other items in the menu, maybe it's going to become our new regular place!

I once worked there. The woman that gave me the job (the co-owner of this place) told me all tips I would get must be put into a jar, from which she later shares them between everybody. She lied to me. I found out from another waitress that she actually gave that money to her, but she skipped me. She also quietly got rid of me as an employee, when suggesting she would call, and I didn't do anything wrong as an employee apart from being slightly inexperienced. So that's that. The woman there is a cheater and I find it's really important that people know how she treats her employees. Edit: No one told me that I wouldn't receive any share of the tips I rightfully got from customers as a trainee. Your response: 'probably not a very good one that’s why your writing this totally unfounded review at this time' sounds rude and tells me more about you. I wrote this review because I was badly removed from the position without having any sincerity being offered to me and unfortunately, this behaviour brought some slight trauma when it came to dealing with other employers. You have no right to be devaluing my experience. It was your guys' fault you treated me like some trash, with lack of appreciation for the work that I did for you. By the way, I worked there in 2016 and realized just now that I still had some resentment towards being mistreated.

Absolutely phenomenal. Ordered from here for the first time just now and even before trying the amazing looking food I was so surprised to find not one but TWO free starters all of which including the mains taste amazing! Thank you guys not only for the starters but for the all round great tasting food and amazing service! DEFINITELY recommend just based on the food itself !! 💯 💯💯💯😍😍😍

went there for dinner wasnt busy. staf welcomed venue. after that had to flag their attention couple of times. nasi goreng did not have the combination of light sweetness combined with heat and slight tang. Same with fried tofu in peanut sauce doesnt have flavour seemed bland. seasoning was missing only thectom yum was ok. coconut ice not good at all. only had 2 spoons of nasi goreng. when paying bill mentioned these to waitress told her what nasi goreng is about. she said she will chef know. would not recommend at all

THIRD VISIT Visited this place again, for dinner this time on Friday. Food was not at all tasty, no seasoning at all. Felt like it was made in a hurry. Tried chicken spring rolls, special Nasi Goreng, golden bags. Didn’t like the taste of anything this time. Gave the feedback to staff and he said that it might be because we are busy at this time. But, being a customer, l don’t think that being busy gives someone a privilege to serve low quality food. After my this visit, I am updating my review to 2 stars from 4 stars. NOT RECOMMENDED 👎 FIRST & SECOND VISIT Visited Jakarta recently on a Sunday afternoon, and tasted dishes from their lunch menu. Dishes tasted good and specially were worth the money I paid for them. Quantity was also generous. Tried chicken satay, prawn curry and egg fried rice. Fried rice were my favourite, satay was good but I think the curry in prawn curry could have been better. It was tomato puree only as a paste. This could have been better to make it more tasty. Other than this, fast service, good interiors and value for money especially with their lunch menu😊

I've been here twice now, and both times what stuck out to me was how calm, approachable, and friendly the staff were. The food was delicious, especially the egg fried rice. It's definitely a place I will visit many more times.

i have been to this restaurant a few times previous;y and have always found it good value for money, the service has been good and the staff have always been very good and friendly. I visited last week and the experience started with the pre meal drinks and the ordering of food but after that everything went down hill. We were a table of 8 with only another table occupied by 3 people and they were on the finish of the their meal and another table of 2 came into eat after. We had the same starters which was a mixed platter and after the first two arrived there was a long gap before the other two starters arrived. When it came to the main course, most of us had noodles which arrived very spaced out with some of the dishes arriving before all the noodles had arrived of which some of us were able to eat before others. I wonder what it had been like if they were busy? My noodles arrived but chicken dish had not and when I asked where it was, I was told that it was on its way. After 15-20 minutes when most of our party were near to finishing their meals, I enquired yet again and the waitress said that she did not know if my dish was ready and she would check which was not a satisfactory answer. She should had been checking. By this time I was very annoyed and made my presence known. I did not get one apology and they did not care when I finally said that I would cancel the rest of my meal and go without. I was told that they were once chef short and only had two. In all seriousness, I cannot see that they would had required a third chef in an empty restaurant. Apparently one of the waitresses was very upset, but if she had done her job properly and paid attention to the diners, this would not had got this far and i would had been giving a recommendation. There did not seem to be any managers present Our party would had stayed longer and had deserts and coffees but we wanted to go due to the lack of service. We certainly will not be returning which is a shame as our experiences have always been a lot better.

My first visit since Covid to Jakarta, I feel the quality has gone down ever so slightly The pre-food snack crackers had no flavour I ordered a set a chicken and the peanut sauce again was very bland and not up to the usual high standards. They have even the main meal. The pad Thai didn’t seem how I knew it as is there may be a new chef that has come a new style of cooking I don’t know it’s not a place that I wouldn’t disown but I shall go back

Overall, the food was decent. Service is really really good. Unfortunately, the roast duck was frozen. Horrible. It really let the place down in a big way. I hope this improves with time, other places are better.

We've been coming here since it first opened nearly 20 years ago. The food is still amazing. The lunch menu is great value and the staff are lovely. We've moved away now, so don't get to visit often enough. Jakata is about the only we do miss in Colindale and is definitely worth going back for a visit

It's an ok local Thai spot with friendly service. The Malaysian curry was really good but I think they need a smaller menu as we found other dishes to be a bit hit-and-miss.

All the food was delicious, fully cooked, presented well and served.

I ordered some crab cakes, and they were literally like rubber. So tough over cooked or stale and microwaved. When I spoke to the manager, at first, she was in denial and said, " they are meant to be like that!!" Eventually, she took it away. No apology or offer to get something else. Other stuff was ok. Nothing tasted fresh. But to be honest, it left a sour taste, and I definitely won't be returning.

Very nice food in Nice decor, and the price is good. We liked the Kuzy Ayam, Adam Pangan Pakac, Udang Asam Manis and Pad Thai, among others. And the different flavoured ice creams were interesting.

Jakarta is a well established Indonesian/ Thai restaurant on the Edgware Road, Colindale NW London. It serves variable delicious Pan South East Asian food at very reasonable prices. The lunch menu is brilliant value & £12.99 weekdays or £13.99 Saturday’s for two substantial courses. The food is very good. Friendly service in a lovely charming Indonesian Bali styled restaurant.

Rendang was good. I dont think the satay was grilled, it looked fried. The laksa was a bit bland and did not really taste authentic. Thats just my personal view. Am no food expert. - The service was very good from the 2 ladies and items fairly priced.

Nice greeting on arrival, friendly & helpful staff. Prices are very good, portion sizes are generous & food tasty, it's a mix of cuisines so this is especially good. Thai fishcakes are full of flavour but slightly over done as were the grilled prawns, the fried rice was too salty for us, the satay is great & the set menu is really good if you want a mixture of dishes. We will definitely return.

Lovely and delicious food. For starters we ordered the vegetable lumpia which is like a spring roll with potato and carrot filling and satay sayur. For mains we got vegetarian pad thai and Tahu goreng salad. The peanut sauce that comes with the food is amazing. Good size portion and decent prices. The interior of the restaurant is really nice and the staff are very friendly. I definitely recommend it and I'll definitely be going back. Update: I went back to Jakarta after a long time and ordered the vegetable lumpia again. The filling inside the spring rolls have changed and now consists of shredded cabbage and carrot. I did like them but I preferred the other filling. Ordered some coconut rice which was really nice. Lots of coconut flavouring in it. Great service.

Disappointing. I ordered the pad Thai and some spring rolls and it was tasteless. The food is nothing special and I fact over priced considering how tasteless and basic it was. It Gave me a bit of a stomach ache after too. Portions are good it was full of chicken but no greens no peanuts it lacked so much. The prawns where cold and soggy and weren’t cleaned properly. Did not hit the spot at all in terms of flavour!! Had to pour in the sweet and sour dipping sauce which came with the spring rolls and some soya sauce to taste anything. Funny enough it had good reviews that’s why I ordered! Won’t be ordering from them again waste of money.

Came here for my Dad's birthday as the reviews looked good. The food was quite tasty but the service was poor. There was one waitress, a small black lady who was serving all of the 4 tables that were occupied. Another guy who looks like the manager was oriental and mostly spent his time behind the counter. He wears a traditional robe and just stands and watches over the diners. None of the two staff made much effort to talk to us and the waitress laughed and scoffed when we said we needed more time to order our mains. When there are no orders to take, she sits on a restaurant table flicking through her phone. She also pops over to newsagent next door and I'm not sure if she washed her hands when she got back. For our starters we ordered the Vegetarian sate and the golden bags (thung thong). The vegetarian dish is awful and the meat alternative they use is so soggy and has no substance to it. The meat eaters at our table found the golden bags starter as being okay but not hugely tasty because the pastry of the wontons were quite dry. Our main dishes did taste better though. They give large portions of the curries and they are full of traditional and authentic flavour. Vegetarian dishes are priced at £8.95, chicken dishes are £1 more and lamb and prawn dishes range from £10.95 to £13.95. Another downside is the portions of rice they give. It's not a good amount and you have to keep ordering more because the size of the curries is better. Something they could also implement into their menu is having vegetarian pad Thai. Normally in oriental restaurants this is always there however they only had the meat and seafood version at Jakarta. We definitely would have ordered it if they had it on their menu and I think they're missing a trick. All in all, the food is pretty good and the decor inside makes it feel like a really cosy oriental restaurant but it lets itself down with the poor service from their staff. The staff need to interact more with their diners otherwise they will lose first time customers. Not sure if I would come back, maybe for a takeaway but they've left me with a bad taste in my mouth.

The place is an absolute gem. The food is great and the service is second to none, you will definitely enjoy this place for sure if you like your food.

We’re glad that we found this little gem, with nice decor and very clean. Food was delicious and made with fresh ingredients. Staff were attentive and caring. The price was very reasonable with good portion sizes. We also liked the iced fruit tea that was served with warm honey. Have added this place to our favourite list and will be back again for sure.

Visited Jakarta restaurant today. We were greeted on arrival and taken to our table. We decided to go for the set menu for 2 which was £50 . Overall we loved the variety of starters and the mains were amazing. Quality of food was very high and very tasty. Our host was always attentive and very helpful when we needed something. We had a pleasant evening and I highly recommend a visit to this beautiful restaurant. Great value for money, as well as being halal. Huge portions and very filling. Homemade ice cream was amazing as well as the coffee and tea options. 5 Stars will be back again. Thank you !! ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We just finished an absolutely spectacular supper at this restaurant. We found it by chance using Google to look for restaurants in the area we were in. The service is very friendly and attentive, the interior decor is very interesting, and the food quality and value is absolutely spectacular! If you get here early enough for the early bird special of a starter and a main you will not go away hungry. The chicken satay is highly recommended

Great Thai/Malaysian, lovely and friendly service with great tasting food.

I was really excited to visit Jakarta restaurant with my partner after seeing the number of reviews rating this establishment a staggering 4.4 out of 5 (as of April 14th 2022). Unfortunately, I honestly have no idea after visiting last night, where these reviews have come from. I am even disappointed that I have to write such a review as I normally only write positive reviews. But I didn’t want anyone else to waste their money and get food poisoning that then ruins their upcoming holiday, like I have suffered. To start, the service and waiters/waitresses were the only pleasant aspect of our visit. We were greeted and served with smiles on their faces; and frequently (but not over the top) checking if everything was okay. I wish I could give 0 stars but since I cannot, the one star goes to them. The atmosphere is a bit stale (like their food) and outdated. The prawn crackers (complimentary) were old, oily and plain. Literally the faintest taste of shellfish was all you could detect. We ordered chicken saté for starters. This was OK (?) - the portion size was generous, sure, but it lacked A LOT of flavour, and the meat was too tough for a saté. The accompanying peanut sauce, well, it may as well have not been there. Then we had the 72. “special” nasi goreng and the 42. Kuzy Ayam with the egg fried rice. Again, portion sizes were generous. The kuzy ayam was way too heavy and greasy after a couple of spoonfuls. The chicken was not of great quality and definitely not “battered” well at all. The nasi goreng was the worst part of it all. I sensed that the chicken in it was not fresh. The portion size was far too large and I could tell that the whole thing was clearly made far too long ago. I don’t know if food is actually made fresh here, but I honestly doubt it. My chicken tasted old and the whole thing was flavourless. It tasted like it had been made a very long time ago, was frozen and reheated. I know what a nasi goreng should taste like, and sure every restaurant/chef have their own take on it but you’re better off just going elsewhere. This dish gave me food poisoning - and I have never suffered from issues like this- I am incredibly certain it was the chicken in my dish. They have a food hygiene rating of 4 out of 5; where they were rated “generally satisfactory” for “Hygienic handling of food including preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage” (By the way, achieving a 5 out of 5 is really not that hard). Now, we know why. It was a cheap meal, totalling about £33 ish with our orange juices, but I wish I spent it elsewhere. TLDR: Not authentic food at all, please save your money and go elsewhere unless you want to risk it.

North London's best kept culinary secret, a seriously excellent standard of Indonesian Malaysian cuisine, would recommend to anyone who loves Asian food, favorite was the Indonesian fish, they also make their own ice cream, Durian for the adventurous.

Beautiful place with amazing food and wonderful staff.

The menus here are very good and the food is well cooked. There has been a slight change as they only offer a 2 course lunch. In addition the vegetarian spring rolls are different as they are filled with shredded vegetables instead of chopped vegetables, I prefer the old version.

Been coming here on and off for years since it first opened. Never disappointed and I feel it has actually improved in food choice over the years. Décor has remained timeless with a few tweaks like better more comfortable seating.

My absolute pleasure to write a review for this lovely Thai restaurant. It was my first time to try Thai and I was unsure if the flavour will agree with me. I took a picture of the starters but forgot to take on of the main meal. The starters were lovely and a very generous portion of the chicken sate. I asked the staff to recommend something for me since I haven't had Thai before. She recommended the green Thai curry and couldn't have been happier. I asked for a spicy curry and the spice was perfect and not overpowering. The first bite felt like an explosion of flavour in my mouth and I suddenly had the biggest smile. Just thinking about it is making my mouth watering :) I loved the coconut flavour as well and the creaminess really complemented the spices perfectly. My better half ordered the mee goreng with prawns and vegetables only and that too was delicious. She preferred a milder touch of spice as opposed to my curry. The mee goreng had a smokey flavour which was nice. Oh and we loved the decorations which gave it a really nice and authentic vibe. The chicken is halal which was perfect for us. Definitely recommend this place and can't wait to to back soon. Thank you

Like others said in the review the green Thai curry... Wow absolutely lovly. I've had green curry before and was put off but this time I will have green Thai curry all the time. The soup was amazing. My Husband and I went for a meal on Saturday and the food was amazing. We are both big eaters and the portion sizes were great, we left feeling full. Wonderful service and the staff were very friendly. Would definitely recommend!

Really hard working staff and good service and good menu with great lunchtime offer but food is middle of the row given the competition down the road and could do with a little lift from using better sourced ingredients. But still good for a quick lunch.

We often get takeaway from Jakarta and have decided to finally visit the restaurant and I must say it’s so lovely! The food is great as always, I would recommend the Gang Kiew Hed and the Gado Gado to everyone. The staff are lovely and the chocolates with the bill were super tasty, hehe. Thank you!

I ordered takeaway this evening and it’s made us all violently ill and I’ve thrown up - Terrible. Used to come here years ago and it was great not the same anymore. Really unfortunate and now feel so unwell too. Ruined a night between friends for a takeout dinner.

I placed an order with Jakarta using the Just Eat app and they accepted the order. Thirty minutes later Jakarta cancelled the order and wasted my time. I won't be ordering food from them again.
