Day Of The Raj Express in Barnet

Disappointing first and last order from a place conveniently located nearby which I really hoped I’d like. Positives: Delivery very prompt. Negatives: Ordered three dishes - lamb biryani, lamb bhuna and chicken tikka masala. The biyani rice was undercooked and had no flavor. The lamb in the bhuna was over cooked and chewy, again not flavoursome. The chicken tikka masala (pictured) was sickly sweet to the point I thought it was a korma gone wrong. When I called to say I thought the wrong item had been delivered the response was that the menu specifically said this was a sweet dish. The menu makes no such mention. Overall very dissatisfied with the food and the response. Not what one would expect for an order costing 40 pounds.

We just had our first takeaway from here. What can I tell you,... it will be the first of many more for sure. The chicken pathia and lamb bhuna were succulent!!

Ran out of LAMB on a Sunday at 6 pm....still makes me pay before telling me......It's like a pub that runs out of lager during an england world cup football game....do me a favour!!!!

This evening, we ordered from Day of the Raj first time...it was one of the most delicious and quality food we have ever eaten...we had lamb dansak , which was cooked to perfection , very tender meat with nice tick sauce...and also ordered prawn biryani which was absolutely delicious...thank you Day of the Raj...it is great to have an amazing local restaurant nearby.

Food was delicious. Tazz was very helpful and welcoming. He was more than happy to accommodate my request for an item not on the regular menu. Service was quick and friendly and deserving of 5*. It’s Nice to see that the legacy of day of the raj Mill Hill is still going after many years. I look forward to my next takeaway from the restaurant. Thanks again.

Definitely the best Indian takeaway in the area. Food arrived hot and very quick delivery. Flavourful and not at all greasy. Reasonable prices, highly recommended.

Ordered a chicken tikka masala, lamb biryani and chicken wings. Wings were fantastic, tender and well spiced. The chicken tikka masala was sickly sweet and tasted like a desert. The chicken in it was chewy and dry. Very dissatisfied. The lamb biryani was below average. The rice was over cooked and a bit dry, but lamb was wonderful and tender. Overall my second disappointing experience. I have had an over sweet lamb dish before, this really needs to be fixed!!

Very disappointed with my chicken tikka masala. Too sweet, not enough chicken for a dish that costs £12, the chicken itself was dry and over cooked. Lamb biryani is below average but just about bearable. This is not what Indian food should taste like! Avoid this restaurant as it is over priced and massively underwhelming.

Best in the business - food is always great and the service to match. They never fail to deliver on all fronts and will continue to use them for my Takeaway fix!

Never too much of an issue with this place. The gent who I spoke to on the phone (on every occasion I’ve ordered) is polite courteous and nothing is ever too much to ask. Honestly will go out of my way to recommend these guys. Food is also FANTASTIC! Thanks! Aimee Grenville Plc :)

The food here was beautifully presented, freshly cooked to order and tasted out of this world.. It was definitely worth the 1-hour round trip to pick it up and the Pan-Asian Kitchen has a large range of items to tickle every taste bud. Long term customer dissappointed. Price was higher than expected but figured that prices must just have risen (Were higer than i'd worked out using the menu). Turns out these were for a Delivery charge (Was not told about this, just added to my bill) , and a 30p Bag charge i also was not told about, but also silently added to my bill. Onto the food , The Curry was good, so was the rice, the naan bread however was very chewy. No idea why as it hasn't been before. Will i be back? Honestly doubtful now, i feel something has changed here , nothing is forever right?

Have been visiting day of the Raj since they were on the Broadway. They are now based in Mill Hill East, still family owned for over 30 years! The food is always amazing! On my last visit I tried the chicken wings, bengal fish special with tarka dhaal and garlic naan and I was blown away with the flavours! Absolutely amazing and I can’t wait to be back! Keep up the great work and food! Highly recommend Tazz

Recommended to try this family business , Indian take away in Mill Hill East, and I can say I am very happy I made the drive from St Albans to try out their food. From the moment I called, the service I had received and the food we devoured, it was Absolutely brilliant. I cannot recommend the Bengal fish and the home made veg samosas enough! What a treat! I had just ordered from this takeaway for the first time. I have to say I had one of the best biriyani's I have ever had. It was absolutely exquisite. I had also ordered vegetable samosas as a recommendation and that came out perfect. Thier delivery time was quick and efficient. Definitely coming back.

Ordered Chicken Madras Chicken Curry Chicken Curry was awful, tasted like a jar sauce. So disappointed, used to go there a couple of years ago and was very happy. Chicken Madras sooo hot, it was tasteless. Was looking forward to an Indian meal with a few beers. Such a shame. Would not order there again. Indian curry, don't think so. I have made this Curry with a jar sauce many times. It is called Balti made by Sharwoods!! My opinion of course, but I love Indian food At the same time, very polite customer service.

Decent and generous sized curries, we appreciated the free nan bread. The only downside was that the tikka masala was very sweet.

What can I say?it is not the first time, it won’t be the last time. The food is really well cooked. The quality of the ingredients is great. Looks like the meals are prepared by a family member! Just try it out. It will be worthy!

First time ordering from this restaurant and I have to say we were very impressed with the quality and taste (and service) of the food. The chicken and the lamb was of the highest calibre. We ordered the lamb tikka which was succulent but not chewy - perfectly cooked. We also ordered the chicken phall which is definitely not for the faint hearted! Wow wow wow it was hot but that was expected! Beautiful flavours and extremely satisfying. The rice and naan bread were also spot on. Delivered with a smile and extreme courtesy. Would DEFINITELY RECOMMEND and we will be ordering from the day of the raj express again. Thank you to the team at the restaurant.

The chicken korma was nice and creamy and the chicken very tasty. Sheek kebab was lovely. Rice portions are perfect. Something that a lot of restaurants either send to much or too little this was bang on. There was a dark dip included with the meal I’m unsure what it was but it was very enjoyable. Will certainly order from here again.

The Lobster Sizzler a complete con and certainly not worth 16.50! Not ONE prawn. Just potatoes and a few carrots and onions. Not even worth 3 pounds. A huge disappointment. Also, chicken rubbery and tepid. I will never order from Day of the Raj Express again. Will also warn others not to.

Very disappointed with this meal. Prawn Sizzler has NO PRAWNS just potatoes, carrots and onions! Yet they charged £16.50!This dish hardly worth £3! Certainly not worth £16.50. This is a swizz. Also, chicken dry. We wont be ordering from them again. They used to be much better. Gone downhill.

A delicious curry from really nice people. The driver accidentally left my drink in his car and without me having to ask, within 10 minutes he drove back and gave me a free drink as an apology. Excellent service and great food!

We had visited the restaurant many times over the years when it was based on Mill Hill Broadway. The Day of the Raj Express is takeaway and delivery only. The same quality of food is available. I have always appreciated the courtesy of the staff and the quality of the food. It is good value for money and well worth giving it a try. We live within the delivery area so do ask if this is more convenient for you.

Only 1 popadom and no yoghurt with the 3 onion bhajis - otherwise delicious

This is my new favourite breakfast spot! I made an order online and then realised the delivery time would make me late for my plans that day. I called the cafe and asked if there was any way the delivery time could be sooner otherwise I would have to cancel my order. they could not have been more helpful and the food arrived so so quickly. I was so grateful for their help but not only that, the food was such good quality and so fresh. The sausages and tomatoes especially tasted and looked really high quality. we will be frequent customers!

Food is always good. It says 45 for delivery when ordering then immediately you finish the order it adds another 1/2 hour. Very annoying

always use day of the raj now after some very dodgy experiments with cheaper restaurants. last night we got some of the best onion bhajis ever. always on time!

Delivery incorrect for the second time in a row. Restaurant not answering phone which is simply unacceptable. Have given up trying to call and have to simply make do.

Delivered quickly but food was very disappointing. Curry had no flavour and was very watery, meat was over cooked, rice was underdone. Very disappointed.

Really good! Got the lamb madras, was tasty, however sauce was a little watery. Had keema naan which was really good. Ordered lime pickle and mango chutney with my takeaway, didn't get a lot of it for what I paid for the small pots though. Overall pretty good
