Visited this and their other restaurant in Stroud Green many times over the years - still amazing! May not have the frills of posher restaurants but food is made with skill and love. The owner is one of the humblest, most hardworking men you are ever likely to meet - the consistently low prices show that profit is certainly not the driver for this amazing man who has fed countless people on a budget for many years. I understand he has a big birthday coming up and we'd like to wish him an incredibly happy birthday. South Indian cuisine at its very best - the Bhel Poori, Patra, Jeera Aloo and Red Cabbage with Apple curry have always been a joy.

Came here with a friend and we had a lovely meal. It's lo-fi, simple dining, but we loved the warm charm of the service. The dishes are small so get around 2 to 2 and a half each, priced at around 4 pounds. This allowed 2 of us to get 4 different dishes and share which gives a lot of variety. The food is very authentic and some might not be all tailored to the British palette. The aubergine curry was reasonable but not outstanding, but the malai kofta was excellent. The gajar halwa dessert was lovely too. The service was very friendly and we felt so welcome, we will come back whenever we can.

This is Guajarati home cooking at its best. The restaurant is calm and on a Wednesday night there are just a few couples eating. Take a menu to your table and note your order on a slip of paper. The menu runs to 6 A4 pages so there should be something for everybody. This is a bring your own so once you've ordered, crack open a beer and wait for the feast to arrive. We started with a mix of cauliflower and aubergine bhajia - hot and succulent with sour tamarind sauce on the side and a masala dosa. Then as mains we had aubergine curry, mixed veg korma, spinach curry and a selection of poori (fried pillows of wheat flour that puff-up into air filled cushions), stuffed paratha and rice. The currys are delicately spiced and a great combination with the various breads and rice being used to mop-up the succulent sauces. We finished with kulfi ice creams and a bill of well under £40 for four of us - outstanding value in London for food of this quality

This place is objectively terrible. Avoid it in any case! The foods are not particularly disgusting but they are very oily and horribly salty. You can see that they use a lot of spice and because of that the foods could've been nice but the amount of salt covers any interesting taste and the oiliness stops you from even trying to enjoy the food. In general I'd say a week of eating the food served here can give you a fatal heart attack. But the quality of food is not the main problem with Jai Shri Krishna. The service here is ridiculous. We walked in and immediately felt kind of claustrophobic due to lack of any air conditioning. There was a fan set for a table and another which was broken. We asked whether they can set the functioning fan to turn so we can have a bit of breath as well and instead they went and turn the fan towards us without even asking the people at the other table whether they mind (because the fan didn't have rotation function). Of course they minded and we decided not to ruin their lunch Then a waiter came to take our orders which was giving us a piece of paper to write our orders and passing it to them. I assume they try every thing to not talk to their customers in general. They also don't accept debit/credit cards, which might not be a big problem but it certainly is a minus point. And at the end I should mention that the place is not the cleanest and thus not pleasant to eat at. Overall, in the name of human's dignity, I think nobody deserves to eat at such a place.

First impressions: piles of junk stacked up en route the the dirty and uncleaned toilets. I don't mind a restaurant being more of an informal cafe, in fact I prefer it, but i do object to piles random mess that could easily be tidied up. The food was mediocre: lemon rice without lemon flavour or urid dal, dosa filled with flavourless mash and dal without character. To cap it all I was supposed to write down my menu choices on a piece of paper! This place might have been trendy in the late 60s but London has infinitely better indian veg cooking on offer in the Indian heartlands of Wembley, East Ham or Southall.

All dishes I tried were tasty although tending more towards North Indian recipes. There is a strange system whereby you have to write your order in a notepad with a pencil and paper and give to the waiter. No one explains this to you, you are supposed to somehow work this out.Service can be indifferent. A single waiter who never smiles or makes any attempt at interaction is what one often finds.I am told that this place is BYO ( bring your own alcohol) although I haven't tried it myself.I might try it occasionally if I want to have some good value Indian vegetarian food but there is room for improvement on several fronts

The restaurant is a Bring Your Own, which means you can take the alcohol or soft drinks of your choice, (there is a small corkage fee but this is minimal) and really does keep the cost down of a meal out.The only thing left to say is go on give it a try !!

Indians' excel when it comes to vegetarian food and this place demonstrates it beautifully. I always try something different each time i visit and it's never disappointing. The thali lunches are obscenely good value and seem to change on a daily basis which makes it all the more exciting to visit. I love this place!

Very handy for groups as you can BYOB to this restaurant run by Babu and his family. It is a real bargain, and they do a £3 (ish) lunchtime thali. Downside is that it is vegetarian and the decor is not great.

The best vegetarian restaurant in London. It's got excellent value for money, the best curries (huge selection) and just everything from everything excluding meat (our favorites are pumpkin paneer and Malai Matar mushrooms). U won't see advertising for this restaurant, nor tourists. It's a little local secret. The busiest time is Friday night, but there is never music there. Could have been perfect with a bit more atmosphere but the food is SO good everything is forgiven. Service is excellent, the owners are very modest and kind, the food tastes like love. We will always go back.

Had lunch here,They do a lunch time menu, Three specials, 1/Potato Curry with 4 poori's £3.25. 2/Masala Dosa £3.50. and a Thali at £4.00. I had the Thali. First up was a spiced popadom with a small tub of mango chutney, Then the Thali, It looked really nice, but let down by the taste! It was a bit bland, but very nice very good value for money, next time I will try the potato Curry Opens Tues to Sunday No cards, b.y.o. drinks

Our son took us to this place, which is opposite Turnpike Lane tube station. What a find it is, a vegetarian Indian and I have to say the food was delicious and such good value for money. it is family run and such nice people. We were given the menu and then a small "dish of the day" piece of paper. We all decided to order the Thali as it was a selection. Can you believe this was £4?! A cup of tea was 80p! I am just surprised to see that no one has written a review, I guess they are all keeping quiet about this little gem. Do give it a try. Their opening hours are 12 - 2pm and 5.30-11pm. They also do take away.

Lovely vibe and cool decor. One staff member gave us a friendly welcome. The food was also very nice x However, the service was chronically slow. We arrived at 10:35 on a Sunday morning for breakfast.
