Best restaurants for vegitarian food in the city. Must try jeera rice Bhindi yellow dal. 🍨 Icecream was also served which was nice.

Buzzing friendly fun experience with delicious vegetarian and vegan food

I live in France and although we have Indian restaurant, this was a different level. Yes it’s frantic due to its popularity however this adds to the evenings experience. It was worth the wait as the standard of the food was exceptional. I haven’t tasted food this authentic since traveling in India. Well done. 👍

Quality value for money. Special Thali was fantastic and lots of great food for a very reasonable price.

I will certainly come back, the Dosa was the best I've had outside of India. What a treat. Prices are great too However, menu too large, which means I think a lot of the curry aren't cooked fresh and are sitting in too much oil (probs to preserve them a bit longer)

We have been coming to this place for 17 years and the food is really delicious. We love the relaxed vibe and the fact you can write your own menu and bring your own booze is great. Certain dishes are delicious, like the potato dishes and the masala dosa are amazing. It is hugely popular now and busy, it used to be quieter which we kind of miss a bit as it can be noisy and hot, but very glad they are doing so well. We never want it to change.

It’s quite an odd set up. We were given a piece of paper and a pen but I thought it was for the waiter. We sat there for a good 20min without being served so flagged the waitress who said we have to write our own orders down and hand it back to her. The menu items aren’t numbered, so you have to literally write out every starter, curry, side dish and drinks you want by hand. Needlessly time consuming. The food was pretty good but came out bit by bit and fairly slow. Especially as there were only 2 tables occupied. At the end, we were given our paper back with the amounts written down. It didn’t seem correct but I had to leave. I got my card out and was told cash only. They advised me where the local cash point was so I walked down the street but one of the numbers didn’t work on the machine so I couldn’t take money out. Had to walk back to the restaurant and get my wife to go out and get the money. So much hassle. Can’t believe a business that’s been around for 30-40 years has cash only and requires you to write out your own tickets for the kitchen staff. Seems kind of dodgy… Food is pretty good though and it’s always rammed.

Amazing place and authentic food! They have a relatively big menu to choose from and vegan options for those dairy free. The servers were helpful and the restaurant was full and buzzing. Some favourites were the rajma, parathas, Chanda aloo and paneer tikka !

I love this place! A much-prized, affordable local eating spot. The masala dosa is delicious and filling, and we really enjoyed the chilli paneer, aubergine curry and exceptional coconut rice. Lovely staff too. Cash only and BYOB.

Food packaging was unhygienic. They simply packed stale cold chapatis ( definitely not freshly cooked) in a poly bag without any foil or napkin. Kheer was packed in a foiled box with paper covering it. It was spilt when received. Only Dal makhni was packed in a proper box with a lid and tasted good! I've never experienced such a packaging fail. No idea about dine-in. Would not recommend delivery from this restaurant.

Food is great here..I would definitely return to try more items on the menu. We waited a lot for the food to arrive but it was a Saturday night and they said they were short of staff on that day. I take one star off all cash-only places...sorry . This is 2024,, we are in London, you need to take cards. I try to avoid cash-only places, as it seems dodgy to me.

I am seriously impressed by this place - absolutely some of the best Indian food I've had, at incredibly reasonable prices. It's all vegetarian and there are a lot of vegan options.

Amazing vegetarian food from southern India ..love the dosa and every dish I have eaten so flavoursome. The service is good too . Bring your own drink if you want alcohol..very good prices

Awful. I have no idea why this place seems to be so popular. I thought they were joking when we asked for a bigger table for three - and they said they would be full later (on a Tuesday Evening) but sure enough by 8 the place was packed. The good bits - you can bring your own booze as they do not have their own alcohol licence. It's veggie only (which may be a good or a bad thing depending on your preference. Given that you bring your own drinks, if you do go there, I advise you to take your own glasses too - because the ones they reluctantly provide are about the size of the ones that you get given a free limoncello in at your favourite italian. Then the food itself Patra were soggy and greasy. The bhajis were ok but otherwise all the food was bland and utterly lacking in texture. There was no crunch, there was no crispness there was nothing to chew. Most dishes seemed to be mid brown and semi-liquid. The service - well, I'd be being polite if I said it was mediocre. As I am not polite I'll just say that it too was awful. You may feel lucky if they ignore you (as they did us). The friend we went there with goes their regularly - I'm completely mystified as to why, since they treated them with the same disdain that they treated us. I didn't go to the loo, apparently you no longer actually have to leave the restaurant to find it but it was described by another diner as "squalid". Given that the ingredients were all cheap and there was no alcohol the bill was higher than you'd expect. I will not be going back.

No frills place with very tasty food at a good price. We ordered mixed vegetable curry, sambar, papri chaat and paratha - all delicious. It’s a cash only spot!

I don’t like to give bad reviews but I had a terrible experience here. I wanted to order something for my lunch, takeaway. I walked in, there was someone (a waiter?) behind the counter, facing the wall, writing? reading?. I said hi, the person looked at me and said nothing. I didn’t want to disturb so I waited maybe for five minutes. Finally I asked if they were open. I heard yes, but the person didn’t even look at me. So I asked “can I order something”? The waiter gave me a piece of paper and a pen to write down the order. I asked the person if I can have some advice, “I’m vegan and I’m kind of in a rush, choose something easy to prepare”. The waiter started reading the menu and chose one dish. I looked at the dish in the menu and it was clearly written “non vegan”. I lost my words and I walked away.

I’ve been going here for 20 years and the food is consistently great - and very reasonably priced/byob. Personal favourites are the jeera aloo, lemon & cashew rice, bengan bhartha and the chana masala.

What can I say - an institution

Amazing Flavourful and filling food. A little loud but overall great atmosphere. The food was relatively fast at being prepared. Would 100% recommend. Definitely the best Indian food I’ve had.

The food was absolutely delicious, full of flavours. Absolutely beautiful. The service was above expectations , I will definitely go there again. Although this is a vegetarian restaurant, I would highly recommend going there even if you’re a meat eater!

We had a group of 9 celebrating our last dinner all together before our friend travelled home! It was a really lovely meal and all the food was great! I carry an epi pen because I actually have a rare but very serious food allergy and the staff were fantastic about it !! They checked everything over told me all the things I could and couldn’t have and she kept checking everything was okay with the food ! They took it really seriously and I’m so thankful as it can be a huge anxiety eating out with a serious allergy so thank you to all the staff ! :) Will deffo be back ! Saz

It's very rarely that I leave a review- buy this place is the real deal! Amazing Indian food! So tasty. Reminds me of food I ate in India. Loved dishes that you can not find anywhere else. The portions aren't huge but we'll worth the money. My new favorite! Amendment to my original review- I actually ordered a big selection from their menu on uber eats and it was very bad. Food was extremity oily. I binned most of it. What a disappointment.

Delicious food, great service and excellent value and BYOB!

Amazing authentic South Indian food that caters to everyone! Most of the menu is vegan and non-vegan options are labeled as such on the menu. The food is heavenly (I highly recommend their saag, dosa, and bhel puri) and the people were very welcoming. It is a casual dining spot with affordable prices and great food, meaning it’s usually packed. Added bonus is that the place is BYOB with a bare minimum corkage charge. Bring wine to share with friends and you’re good to go!

My parents and I went. We are mix of veg and nonveg but we all had a wonderful experience. Its a real hidden gem of a restaurant (though when we went we were glad we booked as we would have struggled to get a table). It has been there for a while, and seems popular with the locals who know which is always a great sign. The best value affordable food (compared to anywhere but especially London), and everything is great quality, clearly fresh ingredients and tasty. Obviously as a veggie or vegan you can be absolutely sure of what you are getting; but there's such a variety of food to try, non-veggies were delighted too. The portions were a surprise and really generous (initially I thought the order had doubled everything by accident!). Must try and not to be missed as individuals, couples, families and/or groups. You can really treat yourself and experiment here, but you'll get full and wonder about the other dishes! For some dishes they seem to put a signature spin on it - the paneer dosa which was presented as a delicious wrap, which made it easier to eat than normal. And finally it was so wonderful having such a welcoming and homely feel. You can see the people here are genuinely interested in, feel a sense of responsibility to, and care about each and everyone of the guests here; whilst also giving them space to just relax and enjoy themselves. If only more restaurants were like this - we certainly need more of this type. It was a very unique and positive experience, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone of any dietary persuasion. Quite an informal place to eat but with plenty on the menu to offer that will cater pretty much everyone. I would say this is one of those places that is best enjoyed as a group as you can order almost infinite dished to share and try. The only downside is that it gets pretty cramped and perhaps a bit too loud so not a place for a romantic date. They take only cash so remember to withdraw money beforehand

I had Chana Massala with 1/2 rice + 1/2 garlic naan. Taste was good, but naan could be better. One of cons could be not possible to pay by card.

Great food, friendly service. All the dishes were authentic- the dosas, bhel puri, paneer, spinach, potatoes, rice AND deserts.

Popular, lively, some unusual dishes, but I've had better dosa elsewhere. Good value.

It is always busy because of how nice the food is so the atmosphere is noisy. However I normally get a takeaway when I order and the food is delicious. This is the nicest Indian food I have ever eaten so far in my life. Jeera aloo is amazing. Pooris are the nicest Indian bread I have had. All paneer dishes are great

Says it’s open till 2 for lunch. But the staff decided they close at 1 when we came in at 1:30. Completely pointless and apathetic.

I have been coming to this establishment for years and there is a good reason for that. It is phenomenal! Jai Krishna doesn’t pretend to be something that it’s not, it’s very basic in terms of decor and it’s pretty rustic but the food and the atmosphere combined make this a solid choice for anyone! The flavours are spot on and you always enter happy and leave even happier. That should be the mark of a good restaurant! The staff are always great and attentive, the food is affordable and you can byob!

Really delicious food and lovely staff. Loved the noisy, vibey atmosphere! If you’re looking for somewhere quiet and candlelit, might not be for you.

Was a bit disappointed with my recent visit to Jai Krishna, having visited before a few months ago. I’d definitely recommend going in the week rather than a Friday or Saturday as it gets so busy and I think the staff get a little overwhelmed. The curries were very nice but the mixed starter was all deep fried and not the best

Best indian i have ever been, by far

A really great, cheap, no-frills vegetarian Indian restaurant with a nice relaxed atmosphere. The dishes are extremely cheap and well worth the money and their bring your own bottle policy means you can have a nice meal out for a really reasonable price. Don't go here expecting fine dining however!

We had a very good meal, but the restaurant is VERY NOISY. I suggest you get someone in to help you to improve the acoustics so you can speak rather than shout to each other.

I started with the Pani pori and didn't feel like trying the rest.

Food was good. Restaurant was clean and tidy. Service was good.

Great food, fast service only thing. Was the building was cold. They could have put the heating on. Good thing I had layers on. Apart from that excellent would highly recommend.

Jai Krishna is loud , noisy , no frills and very cramped . So why would you want to eat here ? Because it is a good honest low cost curry , probably the cheapest in london . And you can byob for a very small corkerage fee . Staff are very busy but friendly and you don’t have to wait too long . I have no complaints .

Note*** No Card Payment Option*** Very very noisy when it gets busy. Not a place for romantic or quiet dining. Tables are really close together so does not have a feeling of privacy. No home delivery. You have to write down your own order on paper which is a positive in some ways avoiding orders being wrong or a waiter/tress waiting at your table to take down a long list of orders. However food tastes absolutely amazing. If the above is an issue they can still do take always. Helpful and polite staff. Very affordable and not expressive. You can cover the entire table with plates of food for a good price.

Poorest of the poor services. Had to wait 40 mins for the food to arrive. Even waited 10 mins for the tap water. Basically, no one attends you even if you need anything extra. The lady present there was extremely rude and seems to have “don’t care” attitude towards customers who are unhappy with anything. On top of all these, they altered the price of the items we ordered while billing them. Ridiculous way of making money. Funny that these guys are doing all these in the name of Krishna.

With 470 reviews, this might be superfluous but this remains my favourite Indian restaurant in Finsbury Park.

Unfortunately the food was served on a metal tray, which led it to cool down fast. And room temperature indian food is not great. The price and amount were good however.

A restaurant I hope never changes. The thali and dosas are 👌

Jai is one of those places where I will crave to have dinner for a while and when I do go it never ever never ever ever, disappoints. Jai!
