Jaffs Bar & Restaurant in Aberdeenshire

Popped in for lunch with my wife. Lovely fish and chips. Service excellent. Not been in for a few years but will be back much quicker.

Jesus, went into toilets and urine all over toilet seat , was disgusting knowing that it’s a free for all toilets , shared , I ordered chicken conjoins and friend had fish , undercooked and fish had soggy batter, woman that served us had a face on , felt we were just in way , place used to be out the door But only 2 tables in at that time . Such a shame as was a great place , but This family haven’t a care in the world whether it succeeds or not

Nice meal starter and main. But a 20 minute wait between the two was a wee bit slow..Apart from that both coarse were well presented and well cooked ..we used a Iterson voucher that we received as a Christmas gift from daughter and family ,,no problems booking no problem using.. Definitely be back ..thanks to all staff concerned.

What happened to the ladies bathroom? Now a cleaning cupboard. And no disabled toilet. They have changed the bathrooms, destroyed the ladies bathroom and you can only use the “unisex” bathroom, which was the Mens’ toilets. Even my husband thought this was ridiculous. In addition, There is NO Disabled toilet for anyone who might need to use it. Food was okay but the fact that we are now forced to use a communal bathroom space for the toilet has put me right off. I wouldn’t have a problem if they had kept the perfectly ok ladies loos and said that trans people could use it (how many? Probably nae a lot ken).

This was the worst experience I’ve had in a restaurant! The waitress’s had only 3 tables to deal with and were constantly hiding and then coming through and ignoring everyone. People had questions for their dietary restrictions and these were not taken seriously at all! There was honestly not silver lining about driving all the way here to eat. Don’t go here! Spend your money in places that value the customers and don’t treat everyone like they are a burden at their job!

Went in one wet Saturday for lunch. Soup and sandwich combo which was fully home made. Choice of bread for sandwich too. Menu has good selection of meals

Sadly, the first time I’ve ever left a negative review. Visited recently with family. When we arrived we were pointed to our table and after sitting for 25 minutes, we didn’t even have a drink in front of us and still waiting for the kids menu. Only 2/3 other tables there. decided to get up and leave. Won’t be back.

Cold food and had to ask the waitress (who never came back apart from to clear plates and with bill) to ask the chef why to be told hot lamp wasn’t working with no offer of hot food just bill as per normal had it been up to standard surely a hot meal isn’t much to expect fish goujons cold just are not nice for the two of us or anyone. It’s such a shame as a lovely menu with a little communication and customer care this could be a great place to dine.

Cold restaurant, half cooked dried up food, put back to the kitchen, to be told chef forgot sauce for one meal. Would take it off the bill!! Awful, second time there and first time wasn’t much better. Definitely will not be back

Nice relaxing atmosphere, great menu at competitive price, would recommend pork belly or cod risotto Staff where professional, one of the best meals I’ve had and pleasantly surprised when bill arrived.

Great little place right on the doorstep of Westhill. Really friendly staff. Had a lovely lunch and also had a look at the evening menu which was very varied with some tempting options. Would totally recommend. We will visit again.

A friend & I went here for lunch as it had been recommended - never again. I ordered the battered chicken goujons. When the plate arrived the batter was dark brown (not golden) due to the fact they had been fried far too long. Due to this I could barely cut them & the chicken meat was tough & dry. My friend ordered panko breaded haddock & fared slightly better but the fish was overcooked. As the restaurant was not very busy there was no excuse for the poor overcooked food. Certainly not a pleasant meal - we will not be returning.

Jaffs used to be excellent with great food and efficient service but sadly it seems to have gone downhill. We visited for a family meal, the first time we’ve visited for some time. Starters took a very long time to come out and we got our main courses 1.5 hours after first arriving. Food was OK but was not worth the extremely long wait. I can only assume there is only one person cooking the meals. Waitress was very friendly but the issue seems to be in the kitchen. Unfortunately we won’t be back.

I came here Saturday night for dinner. The service was first class. The food was delicious and everything was freshly made. I had the chilli bowl and it was amazingly good. The prices are very reasonable, and we will definitely be coming back again soon.

We decided to go to Jaff's for a nice family meal, we have been here a good few times over the years and never been disappointed, but this time was absolutely shocking, we ordered 2 kids garlic bread with cheese and another garlic bread to share, to which this took 30 minutes to come out, it was clearly frozen garlic bread, it came out and wasn't even hot, so we decided to tell them to leave our mains as we had already waited long enough. The table next to us had informed us they had waited 40 minutes for their mains. I could understand this happening if it was busy but there was 4 tables including ourselves. I asked the waitress if there was a manager on duty to which she replied no there wasn't, all the staff there are quite young, and to have no manager or supervisor on duty shouldn't be allowed. Be very surprised if we will even return to Jaff's, the overall experience was a disgrace!!!

Roast beef and all the trimmings, absolutely delicious, gravy was outstanding and we are fussy 🤣 Will definitely be back . Friendly staff

Really disappointing family meal for Easter lunch. Non existent atmosphere, minimal staff acknowledge and food that was served either cold, burnt or in the case of the chicken, tough. The operation appeared rudderless with no management visible. Hard to blame the young staff as it appeared they were unsupported. The owners need to take a long hard look at themselves if they wish to continue trading.

We'd been walking and walked in without reservation. We were lucky and there was a table for two. A lovely room, well lit. We had soup and roast beef. Both were excellent and good sized portions. So far, the best place to eat lunch near Kemnay.

We met up with family here for a meal. The food was good, and there were a few vegetarian/vegan options to choose from. I had messaged ahead for a particular request - vegan wine, and although they did not stock what I wanted, they got some before my visit, so it is worth asking ahead of time. Everyone in the party enjoyed the evening.

We had an excellent evening meal here. I had vegetable curry which came with rice, a poppadom and mango chutney. It was spicy but not too hot spicewise. To follow I chose the apple and pineapple crumble, a delicious and unusual combination which worked well. This was my first visit and I would definitely recommend it.

The food service was first class, will certainly be back very soon. What a superb place, the staff were so friendly and very welcoming

2nd time I've been in the area and 2nd time I've been there. I have to have gluten free food and this place does it amazingly. They use a separate frier and are very aware. The food was outstanding. I had the honey chilli chicken with rice and chips and prawn crackers (don't judge I'm on holiday lol) the taste was amazing the portion size just right, I couldn't finish it. Husband had the fish. Never spoke to me except to say it was outstanding until he finished it lol. Going back tomorrow

I organised a surprise 50th Garden Party for my sister and Jaffs supplied all the food.This was a huge success and the food was absolutely fantastic. Included was a whole poached salmon (lovely decorated and presented)/cold meats/salad/coleslaw/tattie salad/pate/oatcakes/biscuits/quiche/sandwiches/prawns/smoked salmon/homemade cheesecake @ £20 a head - ordered for uplift on a Sunday morning and all fresh and beautifully packed in cool packs for easy transportation. Highly recommended.

I ate here on Sunday 23rd May. The place was busy with other customers. There was a great selection on the menu. We went for two Roast Beef main courses which were £10.95 each. The portion size was excellent - very big, but not too big. The beef was nice, maybe a little bit chewy for my liking, but still very tasty and definitely enjoyable. The meal came with trimmings, Yorkshire pudding, vegetables and potatoes which were all fresh and tasty. The service was excellent - the waitresses very friendly and knew a lot about the food on offer. They also checked on us during the meal.Overall, we had a very enjoyable experience here, and we would definitely recommend this place to others.

We have been to Jaffs many times over the years and have loved their food but had not been since the start of covid, so since we noticed they had started doing breakfasts on a Sunday morning we decided to give it a try but what a major disappointment that was! Now i know its only £6.99 for the breakfast with toast and coffee but it tasted like £2.99 and i would rather pay more and receive good quality ingredients, as what we received was cheap bland tasteless items and the breakfast was not even hot, and there was no excuse for this as we were more or less the only ones in the place apart from one other table. Wetherspoons I am sure would provide a tastier breakfast. I have attached 2 photos, one is a photo advert of their breakfast which is taken from Jaffs FB page, and the other is what we received so an idea of expectation versus reality. Yes we could have complained at the time but the only girl serving was rushed off her feet answering the phone and didn't have time to ask if everything was okay until we were finished, also because of this we didn't managed to get another coffee. Sorry but we won't be back, very disappointed indeed :(

We went for lunch on Saturday with friends who had booked the table. A very welcoming restaurant, great staff, great service, and good food - nothing fancy just a a very good meal out and great value. We had fish and chips (good to see breaded fish for a change), chicken and rice.

Firstly the place was freezing so I had to eat my lunch with my coat on! A heater was plugged in and we were told not to touch it! The waitress had a cold and coughed into the menu. She should not have been anywhere near food. I was looking forward to a “Sunday Roast” as advertised on the billboard out on the street but it was gammon - not my idea of a Sunday roast - so I opted for fish and chips. I was served a large square plate, covered in pale, hard, ‘cardboard’ chips with a fish plonked on top and a small cardboard tub of tartare sauce- not a vegetable in sight! I had asked for breaded fish but the coating, whatever it was, was as thick as batter. The fish was dry and tasteless. When I pointed out the lack of vegetables the waitress said, “It doesn’t come with vegetables.”! There was a slice of lemon but it was rotten and I fished a whole, black gherkin out of the tartare sauce. The waitress who came to clear the plates was hostile when I pointed out all the faults and didn’t even say goodbye when we left! For that, I paid £13.95! It was disgusting! How I wish I’d stayed at home! If you can’t do it right, don’t do it all! I will never be back!

Great dog friendly pub with some fantastic food. Service was A+, even though our mains came with a slight delay.

We visited last night for a birthday meal for my wife. All the food that we received was first class. I have been to this restaurant a few time over the years. I am always tempted by there haddock as it is always of excellent quality. However last night I decided to go for the double venison burger with Brie and spicy chips etc, and I wasn’t disappointed as it was so tasty. My wife and her sisters son both had turkey and the trimmings. And her sister had the beetroot and goats cheese risotto. Not something I would every dream of picking. !!! However I did have a taste of it and could have quite easily have eaten it for my meal. I am including some photo’s so you can judge for yourself .

Lovely meal out at Jaffs. Never been before but really enjoyed it. The staff were friendly, the food delicious and good value for money. Will be back.

Went there for a family meal. Myself and my husband had the fillet steaks. I asked if they could do a red wine jus or mushroom sauce as I didn’t like any of the sauces that were on the menu. The waitress said either or I could have. I said just whatever’s the chef decides. The meals came and my mushroom sauce looked more like fried mushrooms with the majority being onions and no sauce. I asked if they could take the sauce back and take the onions out as I didn’t like onions and make it more a sauce. The waitress said I would need to wait as the chef was on his break! I couldn’t believe she said that. The manager came over and asked if everything was ok and I said no it wasn’t. I mentioned about the sauce and the fact what the waitress had said, she said that wasn’t correct. The chef wasn’t on his break. She also said if they took the onions out the sauce would be bland.... I said it was my decision about the sauce as I didn’t like onions and I only asked for mushroom sauce or red wine jus. She said they didn’t have the ingredients for the red wine jus and the mushroom sauce would be bland without the onions.... I said all I wanted was a sauce for my steak (which by this time was getting cold). The manager then turned to me and said I was rude! I don’t feel I was rude, I was annoyed at what the waitress said to me and the length of time it was taking before I could actually eat my meal. After this incident, I found the server wasn’t interested in our table. It was pretty much taking the plates away and putting the bill in front of us.I certainly will not be back to this restaurant as I didn’t feel the service was poor and lacking in customer service. I certainly do not appreciate being told I am rude when all I asked for was if they could make a mushroom sauce..... if anything the waitress was rude by saying I would have to wait as the chef was on a break!

Went for Sunday lunch. Ordered the pork belly and ham 'carvery'. Unfortunately the pork was poorly cooked for pork belly. The ham was pretty tough to cut. I do better mash and veg at home. Both meals were left half eaten. Overall, underwhelmed by the meal. Will give it a miss in the future.

Ate here on Sunday 8th September with my mother-in-law. It was her choice of eatery as I have never been before.The layout and decor of the restaurant was very pleasant and the tables spaced out well rather than sitting on top of the table next to you.The menu had some lovely dishes on it which I think I would have rather had for an evening meal not lunch. However, there was a list of additional dishes so we both took the chicken fillets and as my MIL is elderly and doesn't eat huge portions, we asked for a half portion. Her portion was still very generous but she managed it.The fillets were lovely however, the chips were very brown, over done and dry. I think they were frozen chips and definitely not homemade.I also had a bowl of Cullen Skink before my main meal which was delicious.I will return to try out other dishes on the menu however, will mention for them not to overcook the chips!Our waitress was very pleasant and helpful.4 stars however, if the chips had been better it would have been 5 stars.

This is our local pub/restaurant and we eat here most weekends. Food is amazing and there are different specials on every week. Homemade food. Brilliant.

We have been meaning to come here for a while now and were not disappointed. Staff were very friendly and the food was delicious, we both had the chicken fillets and chips which were great. There was a large party of guests in who were very noisey and one elderly couple did leave as it became too much for them. Not much you can do really if your running a business and rely on their custom, staff were very apologetic due to the high noise level but it didn’t really spoil it too much for us. Would return.

JAFFS RESTAURANT AND BAR set in the lovely village of dunecht jaffs truly is a hidden gem! taken over two years ago by Sarah and Sandy Cowie you walk into jaffs and you just feel at home with the warm décor and welcome you receive thankyou to the lovely Sam for our welcome it just feels nice! Karen the manager is an absolute joy of a lady whose knowledege and welcoming skills are second to none you just feel the heart of the owners and the people working there so much.So my guest and i entered to be met with a lovely welcome and were seated at a lovely table facing the window menus were placed,then Sarah the owner came and spoke with us and offered to show us around the kitchen and store areas which were immaculate and we had a chance to meet our chefs for the evening Sandy the owner the lovely Samual head chef and the even lovlier Jade who makes all the fantastic cakes on offer at jaffs but ill get to that,so having met the crew we sat down to peruse the menu and choose our food and what can i say the menu is excellant with the familiar dishes you might expect and other dishes which really show an intuitiveness from the chefs we were hungry! THE FOOD for starter i ordered the stornaway black pudding and fillet steak medalions served with a red wine jus and it was just perfect cooked exactly as ordered this was truely a wonderful starter just lovely my friend ordered the cullin skink which was also to a very high standard it was looking good! THE MAINS i opted for the king prawns and plaice pieces which came atop a bed of leek infused rissotto with a red pepper reduction and i knew as soon as it was served it was going to be good and it was fresh tasty delicious only fault i could find was the rissoto was a little under seasoned for my taste but i feel its better to have something underseasoned than overly so it gives you the option i tucked in my friend had the pork belly which again was excellant it looked wonderful on the plate and he enjoyed it very much so mains were fab we sat after our mains and i was full but i simply had to try Jades cakes so i opted for the lemon cake which was served with local icecream wow i had my first bite and i was speechless the flavours were intense with a soft buttery pastry it was heavenly very very good everything that came to our table was cooked with care precision and love you could simply tell this a truely wonderful meal. After our meal the lovely Sarah came and sat with us and explained more about what they do which was so interesting as i said jaffs is a family business Sandy is also on hand in the kitchen keeping everything running smoothly and you really get that feeling when your in there its a family thing which i love Sarah informed me that they cater for vegans lactose intolerant gluten free any intolerance is catered for which i think is great combine this with the fact they supply local businesses with their foods weddings partys outdoor events you really can see that these good folks are really reaching out and making themselves known add to that they use nearly all locally sourced ingredients and your certainly on to a winner they are simply lovely people whose hearts are in what they are doing its that good dogs are welcome not in the restaurant! bowls of water outside to keep your pooches happy and all in all its just a lovely vibe and also theres the well stocked bar if you fancy a pre or after dinner drink so good folks i cannot reccomend jaffs highly enough in my humble opinion five star well worth an unforgetable visit so if your around the area or passing through visit jaffs for a truely memorable experience you will not be dissapointed love to all see you real soon regards Barry....

We called into this place for lunch as we had not visited it for quite a few years now. The welcome we got from Karen, the manager was very special. She was extremely friendly and helpful and a credit to her employers. The food was outstanding and we were both very satisfied with our choices.The decor and ambiance reflected the best of old fashioned Scottish Hospitality. Any visitors to Jaff's Bar will be very impressed. We will definitely return to Jaff's at the first opportunity.

service was excellent, friendly and attentive. however both venison and fish were very dry and over cooked although veg/black pudding risotto rice/mash were very flavoursome. fajita pasta went down well with my daughter. cleanliness could be improved- sticky table and filthy mirror. but the reason we will not be returning is the lack of soundproofing between restaurant and bar- we asked to be moved as were initially seated right next to the glass divide, however even after moving the bar music was louder than the more muted restaurant music, not at all relaxing or conducive to chatting.

We visited Jaffs and were very disappointed that they have stopped serving Real Ale, however I was offered a bottled Real Ale!! A contradiction in terms!

Stopped in past after work as an off chance with my husband, somewhere we’ve regularly eaten at in the past. My husband opted for the burger and I had the pork belly. My husbands burger was dry and my pork belly was not at all melt in the mouth, more chewy and tough to cut through and it was laden with gravy that the mash was swimming in, with very all dente/ undercooked carrots floating at the side.

Had dinner for two here on a Saturday night. Shown straight to our seats in a packed restaurant. Order for drinks and food taken promptly with a bit of chat with the Manager, very friendly. We had perfectly cooked scallops, beautiful pink duck breast then a totally unnecessary but delicious banoffee pie.

Came for a birthday meal. First the positives-staff friendly and attentive, nice table in sunny room, not rushed through our meal. Most of the meals were good quality and nicely presented with generous helpings.

Lovely family lunch at Jaffs Bar and Restaurant for Mother’s Day. Menu was excellent and lots of choice for a set menu. Also thanks to Karen and her staff who always go above and beyond with customer service. Vegan granddaughter absolutely thrilled at being able to choose off the menu. Never disappointed at Jaffs’s.

My sister goes here regularly and raves about this place, so we were excited to go! Mum raved about her chicken strips, bro-in-law & his 3 year old son loved their fish and chips, my husband really enjoyed his fajitas and my twin girls enjoyed their chicken burgers! My dad and I had a lovely steak & caramelised onion ciabatta....but the sweet potato fries were sludgy and oily..... my sister ordered a noodle salad, evidently the kitchen ran out of most of the ingredients ....and she had a very bland, oily meal she couldn’t eat....which the staff were only made aware of as they cleared the table. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Fish dried and burnt. Chips burnt . Potatoes over cooked. Not a good experience at all. Very slow service. Wrong drinks brought . Ran out of prawns 4 people. None of us enjoyed the food

Good menu with plenty of choice and fair prices. Excellent food and good portion sizes. Friendly waitress, nothing was too much trouble. Cosy atmosphere despite it being a Wednesday evening on a cold winters night. Would definitely recommend and will continue to return.

For the third time we lunched at Jaffs, and again were rewarded with excellent service and very tasty food. Very reasonably priced, good quality, good choices and ....lots of it. Will happily return to this very amenable restaurant.

Great value food for the size and quality of what’s on offer! The macaroni and chicken goujons were 10/10 and the service was great - no complaints and wouldn’t hesitate in coming back!

A nice restaurant - lovely staff. I found it a bit noisy, due to the wooden floors and a large party being in on the night we were there. More vegetarian options available than some restaurants, although some of it was a bit bland. They should mark their desserts and sides as suitable for vegetarians though, as this is not clear. Overall, quite a nice restaurant.

Jaffs is hard to beat. The menu has plenty of good choice and there’s always something interesting on the specials menu. Everything we had was delicious and well presented. Portions were perfect and prices were reasonable. Staff are friendly and service was faultless. Will continue to recommend and will definitely return.

Visited recently for a celebration with good friends who had just gotten engaged. We had such a lovely night! Good food, super service - cheery local banter, and excellent drinks. We had a terrific night - really tasty food with a good range of veggie options on the menu, and were bowled over with the complimentary round of drinks to help us celebrate. We’ll definitely be back!

We had a great night at Jaffs, service was a bit hit & miss but they adjusted our bill to accommodate that. Food was delicious & such a great choice there was something for everyone. We will definitely be back.

far to noisy not what I had remembered, the food was ok our table was beside the kitchen with waitresses coming and going, I felt that they were cramming as many people in as possible , its been a long time since we have been to Jaffs shant bother again

Came here for dinner for the first time with the family after numerous recommendations and it held up to it's quality !

Dined here tonight but had a disappointing meal. Pompadom totally uncooked in the middle; tasty fish and batter spoilt by the fact that it was so greasy. Obviously fat for both items not hot enough? Chicken Korma - chicken was not as tender as it should have been.

Had a lovely family meal in this place on Saturday night. There was a lot of us in so they had to try to cater for us all at the same time. This isn’t easy and I could see them struggle with this but this isn’t a criticism as there was 47 of us.

I had the pleasure of hosting a workshop at Jaff's last Thursday morning, not somewhere I would of thought hosting but a real pleasant surprise. We had the whole restaurant to ourselves for the morning and Sandy & the team provided tea/coffee/water and best of all a lovely selection of home bakes, myself and a friend even stayed on for lunch afterwards.

We arrived and the first thing we noticed was smeared veranda doors. You could clearly see this but obviously no attempt was to try and remove. This was a tell tell sign. Cob webs spotted on the shelves..... Very dusty. Staff clearly couldn't be bothered. No politeness on arrival or leaving.. Table was booked for 1730, finally got fed at 1815. Meal was just thrown on the table. My niece's meal (chicken bits) had to be returned cause they were dried and burnt. My mums vegetable accompaniment was green beans, which was also burnt. We will definitely not be back to this place, its highly over rated, options available are limited. Expensive for what it is and most of the foods are fried YUK!

We arrived just in time for our booking but asked if we could sit and have a drink before we went through and the very friendly barmaid said we could take our time the table was ours for the night. Then when we went through our meal was very tasty and plenty of it. I found my chips were cut a bit large so could only eat a couple of them. The service was excellent and the staff really friendly and professional.it was a very varied menu

The food standards and quality has detreated dramatically and now overpriced for what you get! Our last meal was on mothers day. Set menu! Meals must of been sitting made in advance, as served luke warm, veg over done, beef tough to chew and yorkshire pudding burnt. The other meal we had an issue with was there were no vegetables. The dish was basically battered chicken in a bland sauce and rice. The other dishes were ok nothing spectacular for the price. We now prefer to eat somewhere else.

My partner and I had been planning to go to Jaffs for a while, having heard it was really nice. We went for lunch on a week day in February but were a bit disappointed that it was not as good as we had hoped. We both ordered macaroni cheese and this came with chips and peas. My partner is vegetarian and there were only a few other items on the menu he could have, mainly sandwiches. We had looked online at the menu beforehand and so had expected more choices. The chips were ok although I have definitely had nicer at other bar lunch type places. The macaroni cheese was very runny and tasted more like the macaroni you would get in a microwave ready meal. The peas were ok but I would have preferred salad. It was quite a big portion. I got a latte afterwards but ended up leaving it as it was horrible. The waiter was polite and friendly but a bit hard to track down when we needed something. He forgot to come back with some drinks and vinegar that we asked for but was the only member of staff present and so had to manage others asking for things too.

I have read the reviews which give one or two stars and generally agree with them. I won't go into detail about the poor service and food we experienced as there were aspects of the latter that weren't bad, and one or two of the staff were genuinely friendly. The decor here is pleasant and the mix of pub and restaurant works quite well. But - as a general point - it seems like yet another example of people being in the wrong job. So often around here (NE Scotland) people open or work in restaurants when they don't seem to like other people - it's as though they are doing you a favour by letting you in! The check out operators in my local Tesco are more friendly and welcoming. In my past life I've had to work at a fairly senior level and now retired I work part time as a guide at a local NTS property. Many of our visitors are lovely - but some aren't, and I have to turn on the 'charm offensive' even when I am treated with rudeness. If I can do it, why can't restaurant staff? I might add that I don't even like people that much - I'd rather have animals in general! but I always treat visitors as I would like to be treated and usually it works. Obviously people open restaurants and bars as they want to make money, but they will never do really well unless they go out of the way to offer genuinely excellent customer service. If you can't recruit people like that, get them trained. I've been on a course run by WorldHost that the NTS brought in, and whilst there was much of it that to me was obvious, maybe some people do need to be reminded of the basics. Interestingly I was in Ask Italian the other day and the waiter there did know how to do it - he was just as busy as Jaffs was when we went there yet he kept his cool and was genuinely charming. Just proves it can be done!

We have eaten here on numerous occasions recently with friends and family and everyone has enjoyed everything they have chosen. We have recommended it to others and they have enjoyed it too. The menu has a good selection and the staff have always been friendly and professional. We will continue to return and recommend to others. Certainly our favourite restaurant at the moment.

After walking around Dunecht estate for a few hours myself and 4 friends fancied a tea and a cake (we were visitors to the area). We were going to head to Castle Fraser but noticed a sign for Jaff’s with cream scones on it and thought that we would save time and just nip in there instead. There wasn’t a menu as such in the entry of the restaurant but there was a notice that said if you were a loyalty card holder you’d get a free piece of cake with every tea/coffee so we took this as a sign that there would be some form of cake on the premises. Entering the quiet restaurant (3 other tables seated) we waited for nearly 10 minutes before we were even acknowledged by the young blonde waitress and only because we actually had to call her over. We asked to see the menu and they were thrown at us. Immediately my back was up and I wanted to leave. However we persevered. We asked her about the cakes and she said “oh no if you want them you have to order them in advance so they are ready” we mention the sign outside and the loyalty card sign and she said “hang on I will go check”. We are still waiting for that answer.

Been many times and can not recommend enough. Though watch if taking starter as portions big. Steaks cooked to perfection and the Cullen skink best in Aberdeenshire. Recommend all to try

We had a wonderful afternoon tea for our daughter's baby shower.

As a regular to this lovely country restaurant, I am always amazed at the excellent food options and relaxing atmosphere. Food allergies are never an issue. And the lunch and dinner menus offer extensive gluten free options. Furthermore, the chef is happy to adapt. Service can be slow when busy, so if in a rush plan times accordingly. This is a hidden gem of an eatery. Most definitely worth a visit.

We were on our way back to town after a day out, and were looking for somewhere to stop for a cup of tea, and we saw the sign, saying that they were doing coffees, so we thought ... "Oh, this would be ok". Big mistake. We went in, and sat down, and despite saying we only wanted teas, we were handed menus, we re-iterated we were not looking for a meal. So we were asked if we were wanting the scones - and a finger was pointed at a printout on the table (without any prices). We reluctanctly agreed to the scones. However, 10 minutes later, another waitress approaches us with menus and tries to go through the same thing again as we have been sitting for so long, and we explain that we have already ordered. After another 10 minutes, my husband went and chased up the first waitress, and it turns out she had made a mistake when passing the order to the kitchen. Our tea (& the scones that we didn't really want) arrived 5 minutes later. Total cost £14.25 for 3 of us. Under normal circumstances for excellent service, and amazing quality scones I would have said this was a very good price. Unfortunately this didn't equate. Had the waitress who admitted her mistake offered us more tea or something to apologise for the wait, perhaps we would have viewed it differently...but she really didn't seem to think it was much of deal. Would we go back? I very much doubt it.

After phoning Jaff's near the end of our castle visit to enquire if they served food all day, they advised last food order was 2pm. We asked if we could book a table for 1:45pm and they were fine with this. I can say on behalf of all my family, it was well worth the visit - the food was excellent, the portions more than enough and the service provided by the friendly, polite staff was excellent too. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the Dunecht area. Well done!

Tried to take my mother here for lunch, we arrived an hour before lunch ends, the waitress looks disapprovingly at us, saunters over and rudely said "you've left it late, if you really want to eat you'll have to be quick". That said it all for me, we left rather annoyed and drove a mile down the road to the Garlogie Inn and were welcomed in and had a fantastic meal, customer service is everything, if the staff can't be bothered get rid!!

Another great meal here, we are returning customers and probably visit 1 a month for a fillet steak. We shared the special of scallops which were beautiful then both went for the fillet! Pic of the fillet attached, the onion rings are something else! Great meal again.

We are regular visitors to this excellent out of town restaurant. Food and service are always excellent. Went with friends recently who had never been before and they feel the same as us.

Food as usual was very good with plenty of choice only gave it 4stars as the service between courses was really slow.

Starters were lovely but service was extremely slow, Mains were a let down, no one finished theirs and when we told the waitress they were extremely rude about it! The manager did try help but was very over priced for what it was! Won't be going back in a hurry and used to really like I!

Visited here last night with friend and my children. Menu was very good and varied. Ordered our food and waitress immediately offered to bring children's food out as soon as it was ready. This was a big help. My friend has various dietary requirements and her food was completely adapted to her needs. In fact she got a completely different meal from the menu but it was exactly what she wanted. Food was very good. Toilets and bar area were clean and well kept. Will return soon.

This is the second time that we have visited Jaffs and we have had a lovely meal both times. Would recommend!

Everything is really great about this place. Food is delicious and staff super friendly. Interior is nice and has its own character! Highly recommended! We will be back!

Lunch, dinner with friends or romantic time with my Husband! I enjoy jaff restaurant Soooo much! Love The modern coat of food. I am Always amazed of dishes with local products! Chef is not just a cook but real chef! I never Have been disappointed there
