Jacksdale Garden Centre in Ashfield

Amazing afternoon tea at the weekend, the food was fabulous, the staff were brilliant, they were really busy, but their attention to detail for their customer service was top notch !!!!! Highly recomend, as well as the beautiful gift shop, Christmas shopping has had a good start, thanks to everyone at Jacksdale garden centre, well done guys 😊😊😊😊😊

Garden Centre is nice but very disappointed by Cafe on site as no hot food after 2pm but states they are open till 4pm but does not state only Drinks and cake .numerous people left without purchasing anything as it was hot food they were after too .

Currently all decked out for Christmas and it looks fantastic,no crowds shoving you about.Been here for plants and other garden things many times,always lots of choice

Excellent selection of plants at very reasonable prices. It always looks immaculate and all of the stock is in good condition. You know whatever you buy will thrive and last. To finally top it off there is a cafe serving great breakfasts and just the best cakes/scones🍰 Oh and more retail therapy inside!...and the staff are very helpful 🤩 Would always choose Jacksdale Garden Centre over the more commercial enterprises. It is just a lovely place to go!

Cracking garden centre and a large cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. Large range of garden products at great prices. Well worth a visit.

The garden center it's self is spot on and the new shop has everything you need. The Christmas selection is perfect for new ideas. If you go to the cafe on site make sure you have plenty of time, it took a hour for our food to come.

Seasoned gardeners may find some plant selections lacking, but as a general purpose garden centre, plants, compost, tools and pots worth a visit. Small cafe serves quality fare. 2024 - Extending the cafe by enclosing the balcony, looks like it will quadruple seating 👍 2025 October, still well stocked given time of year. Beginning preparation for Xmas. Not surprisingly the cafe was quiet.

We visited the garden centre a couple of weeks previously and explained that we needed some advice on replanting a border. We brought some conditioning soil as advised and said we would return in 2 weeks for help to choose some appropriate plants. Armed with a photo of our newly dug and conditioned border we went back today. The lady we spoke with was absolutely amazing. She remembered us from our previous visit and spent time helping us to choose the correct plants and then gave us advice on where to plant in our border. We got some beautiful plants and can’t wait to get them planted. We will definitely return when we move on to our next border. A massive thank you for the help that we received. So sorry that we didn’t get her name but she share her knowledge and from her past landscape gardening experience and we are very pleased with the time and service she gave us. Big thank you

Fantastic garden centre that we frequently go to for our plants. Neil is the go-to guy for any information.

Went to a garden centre close to this one so thought I would check this one out as everyone mentions it, wow it's big! Lots and lots to look at, loved the amount of concrete and stone sculptures! Always love to look around those, the plants were nicely sectioned and all looked very healthy and well cared for, pricing wise about average so that was nice, then had a wander around the indoor section! Lots of goodies to look around, will be back when I have more time to look around and grab some of the lovely plants.

Lovely garden centre. Large place, big selection of healthy plants. Good choice of gifts. Sat outside for coffee and cakes very good. Dog friendly shall visit again.

A bit late in the season looking for a hanging basket today. Stock very low so the garden lady kindly made one up for me while I had a look around for ten minutes or so. I’m very pleased with the result so thank you for your help and kindness. A 93 years old satisfied customer.

We have everything we want and more.

Stopped in for lunch today for my dads birthday. 42 minutes from paying to when the food arrived, and even then it was average. Clearly the kitchen had forgotten our order, but no apology or explanation was forthcoming. Scampy and fries, baguette and fries, panini and fries. 42 minutes

Nice cream teas I have been there on last three weeks very good .

A garden centre and a cafe , with a covered dog friendly area and vegetarians and vegans catered for . One of our favourite places . Staff are friendly and welcoming and many customers are obviously ' regulars ' , which says a lot . We visited for lunch today , my husband had a cheese and tomato sandwich which came with a small portion of chips , salad and coleslaw . At £8.00 he thought this was pretty decent except for the poor quality of the brown bread . I , however , had beans on brown toast which cost £5.00 . I actually paid this amount just for a portion of baked beans , as the toast was awful and I gave it to our dog . My oat milk latte was excellent The choice of artificial grass as the floor covering in the new , dog friendly extension needs to be reviewed . Today one dog thought it was okay to empty it's bowels right in the main thoroughfare between tables . This was extremely distasteful for the many customers eating in the cafe at the time . A hard floor would be far more practical ! .

No-one was taking orders when I arrived and more than 1 person was waiting. Someone came out of the kitchen having a shouty conversation with another staff member. ‘What’s your table number?’ ‘I have no idea, I’ve only just arrived’ So, I was given a number and I ordered my food. My tray was bought out to me, tea spilt all over the tray and the tray was just left in the table. I had to fetch my own napkins and butter. A question concerning food handling, why do you allow your staff to wear false eyelashes and varnished nail extensions? Overall impression- chaotic.

Visited today. First impressions lovely. The cafe is lovely and clean and well presented. We arrived just after 2pm. They do not do food after 2pm. Only drinks, savouries and cake. A little disappointing as I would expect them to serve food a bit later. They had no savories too. Had a cheese scone which was really nice. The menu looks lovely and well priced. They do smaller portions too. Several people wanted food. I think they turned away much business. We will return earlier another day. After Covid they couldn't wait to welcome us back but sadly now we are turned away due to lack of availability. Their website mentions nothing about this. Just says cafe open until 4pm on a Sunday. It would help if they stated their food hours. Anyway we will go back as the menu does look nice. Thank you.

Wow, what a gem! We were invited by family to breakfast and garden shop. Jacksdale GC delivers on both counts. Food was first class, staff were lovely. The atmosphere is spot on. The garden centre itself is a cut above the rest. Good products at good prices. As a result of this visit we shall be taking other members of our family. I can't wait for a another lemon drizzle scone.

We arrived approx 12.20. Not many people in at the time. Ordered two cod Gougons and chips , waitress came to the table after about 10minutes to say only one portion. I ordered the cheese and tomato quiche. We waited another half hour or so and new people coming in told there would be a 30minute wait for hot food Eventually our meal arrived I have never had a quiche like it, awful. Obviously microwaved, I found one piece of tomato in half of it the rest I left, the chips were dry and lukewarm I guess they had been stood for a while? My husband did say the.fish was lovely. The tray was left on our table even though the waitress came to us twice.we were never asked if we needed any condiments, I had to hunt for salt, vinegar and the young lady had to find me some packets of mayonnaise I have had quiche twice before there and it was delicious.and chips hot and crispy. What went wrong? My own view is you have built the outside area which is lovely, you haven’t the kitchen or staff to cope with the extra diners??

Was charged twice as much for plant that had been reduced from the original price had to go back for refund which I got back

Not far to go to this great Garden Centre and all the staff are very helpful. Not been in the cafe yet but that also looks good, so hopefully will be trying that one in the not too distant future. Dotty

Went last week for tea and cake Myself and the gentlemen behind me were ignored at the counter for 10 minutes by a server called Vicki He gave up I persisted because I usually love it in there I have never known such ignorance It flabbergasted me It was like I was invisible And when I was served there was absolutely no apology I couldn't believe it

A lovely space to stop for refreshments after shopping in the garden centre. We always take our dog when we go to the garden centre, who gets lots of fuss from staff and other customers and then he gets a sausage or doggy ice cream from the tea rooms. On our last visit we thought we’d have some refreshments ourselves and what a lovely experience it was! We sat outside in the sunshine and after enquiring from the helpful staff, we were happy to find we were both catered for, with oat milk and lacto free milk alternatives for our respective latte and mocha which were absolutely delicious. I was also very happy to find out that the chips are fried in vegetable oil in a separate fryer to any meat/fish products. As a lifelong vegetarian I often have difficulty eating out and was very impressed that we were both properly catered for. The chips were delicious too! We can’t wait for our next trip where we’ll try something else from the menu. Well done Jacksdale Garden Centre!

Great quality plants. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Well worth a visit. The range of products and choice has been greatly expanded. A large area (apart from the indoor shopping) is now covered, making shopping much more pleasant during inclement weather. If it's pots you are looking for the selection is vast and at great prices. Now has a dog friendly, covered area at the café.

Can get a good lunch if tables aren't reserved! It would be better first come, first served

To slow the weak before she refused to serve me with a hot meal it was 2 minutes past 2 scones was hard in my eyes the cafe is going down what a improvement keep it up well done

Seems to have got a lot better this year. You can tell they have spent money on the centre. The plants are good quality and most are a good price

Always quality goods, choices of other products well presented. Coffee shop great has gluten free cakes a bonus, but I feel its a little unfair as some people reserved tables but didn't access the plants or garden products. Just there for coffee and cake

Arrived 10.20 and ordered breakfast. Saw table reserved from noon 12.oo and thought shouldn't be an issue OH IT WAS Hassled by waitress saying table reserved YEAH from noon 90 mins from order late order delivery and rushed breakfast can't see us rushing back sadly as its on our doorstep

Nice garden centre with cafe but 10minute standing in queue then told 40 plus minute for chip cob, then another 10 minute wait for our tea! Not a good first visit. Nah not worth it.

What a lovely garden centre. Great choice of plants, ornaments and furniture. We tried the cafe and the food was very tasty couple with friendly service. If you are near, pop in you won't be disappointed

We popped in today, thinking that we would have to sit outside with our little dog to have a coffee, but when we got there We could see that they have got a new covered over dog friendly area. It’s totally enclosed and has lovely faux grass. Felt nice and warm in this winter weather. Plenty of tables in the area. It was so nice to have an area that we could take our dog and have a nice meal without sitting in the cold. Had a lovely breakfast. Thank you Jacksdale Garden Centre thinking about us with dogs.
