Breakfast itself was really great, flavorful and hot but unfortunately it was ruined by the extremely rude staff that we dealt with.

Excellent food and a warm service , went well family for afternoon tea , everyone enjoyed their experience, food was fresh and tasty and the service was welcoming and warm , will return soon.

Sat in the window as very dark inside. 2 guys who came in after us were served first. My order was wrong on 2 simple counts. One waitress took the order, so when the other brought it & I told her I had said no chocolate on my cappuccino, she said " for f@#$s sake"!!!!! The food was good but nothing will make me go back.

Good breakfast place. One of the best in swindon. Service is a little slow at times because thier popular. Lovely setting.

On our way to Cotswold we were starving, so had to stop by Swindon high street for a quick bite. It was 3pm on a weekday so most of the restaurants and pubs were not open. This place was our only choice, but turned out to be nice. A bit untidy, but the food was okay and the portion was also good considering the price.

The staff is just amazing and very friendly here, they make you feel welcomed and always serve with the best service.The food is 10/10 definitely worth visiting this place.

What a lovely little dining spot! Wonderful menu and lots to choose from. The staff are friendly. They even do birthday packages with afternoon tea. Highly recommended.

Went for a Prosecco afternoon tea today. I am gluten and dairy free so never sure what I will get. The afternoon tea was lovely, varied and possibly one of the best I had. Would absolutely go again.

Slight problem with ordering but sorted with minimal fuss

Went for bottomless prosecco afternoon tea me and my friend are not big drinkers but I had to go to the bar twice to ask for a top up, it was busy but I feel it was totally unacceptable, not good value for money

Had Eggs florentine and some bacon. The rashers were beautiful as was the eggs not sure what happened with the spinach but counted my mouth with an unpleasant like film. That'd just ont thing though maybe I'm not pop eye and it just isn't for me or maybe it doesn't combine with orange juice. Overall lovely atmosphere created by a most welcoming staff. Great breakfast. Thank you all

Service a little slow which was disappointing as it was all that busy.

What is this place Jesus I’ve never felt so uncomfortable in a place to have lunch, walked into an empty restaurant and was told she’s check is there is any tables first. Then was sat down at a dirty table with food on it and just left, another few people came in sat down drinks order and food order taken there and then. We were still waiting for someone to come and take our order. I went to the bar to ask for some drinks was told to go back to the table. A waitress then came to our table and said she’s not sure how many orders have gone to the kitchen so she needs to check don’t think this places knows what they are doing. Felt really sorry for the young girl they just thrown at us as she’s lovely just the rest of the girls are self obnoxious. Especially the one in glasses she is rude as hell and I’m sick of the side eye. The food was lovely, it’s just a shame the service is a let down. This place only has 1 great member of staff

My friend and I both got food poisoning 48 hours after eating the afternoon tea set in December. Serious diarrhea, dizziness, cold sweat. I almost fainted. We lost appetite for one month. I wrote an email to the restaurant. They didn't admit or apologize. Instead, they implied that my friend and I carried the bacteria before coming to the restaurant. I was furious and wanted to write a review but my friend asked me not to do it as it would be useless. Today I walked by the restaurant again. Bad memory popped up. I hope no one will get food poisoning and be accused of carrying bacteria anymore.

We decided to treat our teens to brunch as it was the beginning of the holidays. The food, on the whole was well cooked and tasty and the menu offers a good selection of brunch dishes. The main issue was that I found a short very dark hair in my smashed avocado on toast with bacon and as none of us have hair that dark I knew it wasn't ours. I tried to get the attention of the waiting staff a few times (young tall waiter and older short dark haired woman) but eventually took my plate and went over to them. I showed the lady the hair and she immediately took the plate out of my hands amd walked away but didn't say anything at all. She came over to our table about 5 mins later to tell me the chef was making me a new one. Everyone else had already finished by this point and my daughter had rehearsals that we needed to get her to. This meant I would not have time to eat the replacement by the time I came out nor did I want to when everyone else had completely finished eating and drinking. I explained this and the waitress agreed to do it to takeaway but it would have been nice to have had this conversation before hand rather than just being told what was happening afterwards. My portion came well wrapped so I took it, we paid and left. When we got home, unsurprisingly it was not as nice, the poached eggs were solid and the toast soggy most annoying was that the bacon I had paid extra for and had eaten less than half of one rasher of was not in the box despite us still paying for it. There are so many other solutions that I would have been far more happy with (paying half as I had eaten some, having something much quicker to make such as just toast or banana bread instead), being made a replacement half that I might have been able to eat quickly but nothing was discussed at all, just my plate snatched without a word and then being told a new one would be bought. We all purchased drinks but also had to ask 3 times for some water. Most of the food was great but we would not return due to the service issues and paying for something we didn't get.

Jacks is an amazing restaurant, the quality of food is outstanding for such a price and the portions are huge! The food was so tasty and most definitely worth it. The atmosphere is brilliant along with all the staff ,who are so pleasant and welcoming. The service was excellent and I will definitely be coming back again soon.

I had a really lovely afternoon tea with my friend at Jacks. The food was delicious and our waitress was fantastic. She seemed to know when our Prosecco glasses were almost empty and was there to refill them with a smile every time. I would definitely recommend afternoon tea here

Attentive staff. 6 finger sandwiches of 3 flavours for 3 people. Three scones. Lemon drizzle cake small quarters x 2. 3 pieces of quiche. 1 piece of chocolate sliver. Prosecco came round often. 👍

We booked a large table for afternoon tea at jack's for a friend's babyshower. Sadly disappointed in the quality. Sandwiches, the bread was stale so had clearly been sat out a while. No sausage rolls even though they were on the menu. As a baker I was saddened by what was apparently fruit scones, no rise and dry as ghandis flip flops. The waitress, painfully rude, we were rushed to pay and vacate the premises when my friend was still opening her gifts. They even turned the lights off, we hadn't even been over the 4pm finish more than a few minutes. May I suggest if you need to do a quick turn around for the evening don't take large bookings that are set up in the middle of the main restaurant. It's not a nice feeling being practically booted out of somewhere when you aren't causing any problem!

We had Afternoon Tea and bottomless Prosecco for 21 adults, the event room at the back was perfect and the service was great. Having tried several Afternoon Teas in the local area and across Wiltshire, Jack's is absolutely the best by far. Very impressed with the food. Highly recommended, excellent staff.

Visited for lunch today- the food was pretty tasty, but will not be rushing back due to the poor service. It was quite busy, but not full, and someone came to take our order before we'd even been given menus. We ordered drinks and got menus - despite being asked if we wanted ice in the drinks, one had ice when we'd asked for no ice. Not a deal breaker. We were then told there would be a bit of a wait for food, but not given any indication of how long. So we ordered, and an hour and a quarter later, our food finally arrived. It was tasty and hot, it really shouldn't take over an hour to prepare a sandwich and fries for 2 people! At least one party waiting for their orders got up and left during that time, and numerous customers had to go and ask where their orders were. Why have so many covers when the kitchen clearly can't handle that many orders? When we went to pay, we were greeted at the till in a fairly aggressive manner with "I hope you've got cash, cos the card machine's gone down". Quick trip to the cashpoint a few doors down, we returned to be told 'oh you can pay by card now, the machine is back up". Attitude of the staff wasn't great, they all just appeared flustered and came across as a bit snappy and rude. Felt a bit sorry for them as they were clearly trying, but the kitchen just couldn't cope. Very disappointing.

Definitely not somewhere I’d ever recommend again. Food and drinks are fine, breakfasts that I’ve had here before were very good. Sandwiches on this occasion had been hanging around for a while. The service… younger ladies were good, very attentive. Older lady with short hair should have been working at Karen’s diner, not Jacks. I have never been more poorly treated in a restaurant. I brought friends here and it was embarrassing to have been treated so badly. Having a receipt wagged in my face 1 hr 10 mins into our visit when we had the table for over 2 hours. Continually reminded of our time left at the table (every 10-15 minutes) with a finger tapping on her watch. Making a couple of members of my party, including me feel very uncomfortable. A couple of people didn’t turn up which is normal in a large group but she point blank refused to budge on the deposit I paid months earlier. Very reluctant to give us any extras. Couldn’t recommend LESS.

Jacks was chosen for a belated Christmas event with good friends and I must say one member of staff would be better suited working for Karen's diner!! She was abrupt and quite frankly rude! Unfortunately a few members of our party couldn't make it and I understand that was last minute and we would have to pay for the ones that hadn't made it but she was very reluctant to give us any extra food considering we were still paying for it and had been made up already! You could tell the sandwiches were dry around the edges apart from the sandwiches the food was OK and it wouldn't of worried us ultimately we were there to spend time with friends but the staff member really would be better off working in the different industry! It is a real shame because the other waitresses were fab and it was just this one older lady who rushed us through and clearly didn't want us there. We had pre booked this well in advance and they were quite aware of a big party coming in, and it felt that this waitress we named Karen had, had a very long day and should of gone home!

We had our Xmas doo here. The food was amazing. The staff were very patient with us too. I'm going to visit here more often.

As part of my grandaughters 21st birthday celebrations we had a gathering of mainly family in the new room to the right hand side of the bar. It is a perfect venue to hold a party of up to 26 people. The buffet was amazing a big thank you to Simon the chef. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. Thanks to all at Jacks for a great night. I'm sure you will be receiving new customers as some had not been before but are definitely eating there in the future.

Stopped for lunch at this popular restaurant/bar/cafe. Really busy yet they managed to find us a table so I would recommend booking in advance. Coffees and teas ordered whilst we perused the menu. The chicken salad was tasty, with a decent amount of chicken and also bacon, the omelette was plentiful and packed with filling and the ciabatta and fries again didn’t skimp on the filling. Really nice staff, well decorated and we all enjoyed it and would return again for lunch. 👍🏼☕️

Since my original stop for a coffee, I've been back many times. The food is excellent. The ingredients were simple and fresh. The sea bass was (according to my wife), great. The chicken and avocado burger was tasty and not too heavy. Pricing was good, the service is always very friendly and attentive without being intrusive.

A table was booked for 11/12 of us for the “Afternoon Tea” which was a work occasion. The food was grand, reasonably priced and the venue was lovely. I was just shocked at how we were spoken to by the waitress. Unprovoked. Genuinely, did not feel welcome there at all. She demanded payment half way through which was not only strange but also very uncomfortable. An experience…. But not a pleasant one when people are just trying to get together and enjoy themselves. Sorry to write this but maybe they were having a bad day.

Although we were told lunch would be a long wait an hour and 10 min for 1 omlette and 2 jacket potatoes is excessive, no apologies even though we had an obviously hungry 6 year with us. Food wasn't particularly great especially after such a long wait

Went for an Afternoon Bottomless Prosecco Tea for a Baby Shower. The food was delicious, fresh and most of it made in-house And the owners and their staff were lovely. Very polite and attentive.

Very racist and unprofessional. I've been in here to eat around 4 times, the 3rd time I started to realise fully the treatment was different to other Caucasian customers. I was noticing patterns before, on other occasions but I thought I was just over thinking it. When I do eat here solo, I'm usually ordering drinks and a proper meal and sides and spending more than some, that only comes in for coffee or a glass of wine. How dare you, just look at a person and assume what their pockets can affords. Everytime I'm in here, eyes are on me to see if I will pay my bill and someone standing nearby. I've never given the staff any reason to doubt me. I will even tip at the end just make you realise you were wasting your time standing around me. Very disgusted by the behaviour of their staff members not to mention the elderly lady working there who is rude and obnoxious. The chef is very understanding and kind and the young man working at the bar that's the most I can say. How can you put a customer at a dirty table to sit, when there were obviously other clean tables available and when ask to clean the table which 2 customers just left, you're going to be rude. I'm a paying customer and surely not an animal to be treated in such manner. It's really ashame because the breakfast range is lovely, but the attitude towards other race is shockingly disturbing.

We went for afternoon tea on 30th September. When we got to our table, it was set for 7 people but there were only 2 stands. When my niece had booked it, she said it was for 7 people and it was Flo who had spoken on the phone to my niece. Flo kept saying you must have booked it wrong. Flo didn't look happy as she needed to get another vegetarian stand. Then we asked if we could have some tea. Flo was a bit abrupt with us and said it was Gin day and we hadn't booked any teas. When my niece had booked she wasn't told that she would have to book tea as she thought it was afternoon tea so you would get tea. Anyway Flo did bring 2 pots of tea and the other vegetarian stand after about 15mins. We did enjoy the food, although my niece asked if there were any plain scones as her 2 daughters didn't like the scones with currents. Flo sat down next to my great neice who is 14 and said we were stressing her out. They didn't have any plain scones. After about half an hour my sister wasn't feeling too well, so I put my hand up to get Flo's attention. She came over and said 'What Now', which we thought was a bit rude as we were paying customers. She brought the water, but the glass was not very clean. My sister just took a sip but didn't want to say anything about the glass incase Flo would moan. It was my sister's 70th birthday afternoon tea, but we didn't find the service given by Flo very good. The young ones were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble as I had asked for some sugar and they were very obliging. We came from Milton Keynes but we won't be going there again.

A lady called Flow who served us wasn't very polite and apparently we made her stressed out!!! She also messed up our order as we had an afternoon tea!

I visited Jack's cafe recently and had a fantastic experience. The standout for me was their burger; it was absolutely delicious. Cooked to perfection with a juicy patty and fresh toppings, it left me craving for more. The chiabata sandwich was also a hit, filled with flavorful ingredients that made every bite enjoyable. What impressed me just as much as the food was the friendly and welcoming staff. They went out of their way to make sure my visit was comfortable and enjoyable. It's not always easy to find such great customer service, so this was a pleasant surprise. To top it off, Jack's cafe offers good prices, making it an excellent value for the quality of food and service you receive. It's refreshing to find a place that doesn't break the bank but still delivers top-notch flavors. Overall, I highly recommend Jack's cafe. Whether you're in the mood for a mouthwatering burger, a tasty chiabata, or simply a warm and inviting atmosphere, you won't be disappointed.

Great breakfast friendly staff quick service Reasonable price

We visited here tonight , (Saturday). Hadn’t booked beforehand so just walked in around 8pm. A table for the two of us was available and we had a lovely meal. Served by Olivia who was great! Food was fresh and not too long to wait. Goats cheese starter was yum and for main I had chicken fajitas which was fab. So pleased to see Jacks open again in the evenings!

A really good English breakfast, especially the poached eggs. Good to see a fried bread option.

Lovely lunch with friends. Nice welcome and was show to our table straight away but we had booked a table which I would recommend as it's always busy. Our waitress was so lovely and attentive sadly didn't get her name. We were not rushed for our order and even after we had finished our meal we were not rushed to leave our table. There were five of us and we all enjoyed our meal. From pasta to burgers, pulled pork, chicken and vegetarian meal was all excellent . Perfect atmosphere and the music in the back ground was great too.

Delicious food with great service

19-July-23: Had a lovely lunch with friends. My omelette (cheese and mushroom) was delicious with added fries, and my friends enjoyed their falafel burger and the fish cakes. A few drinks. A bit less than attentative service as had to go to bar for another drink as couldn't get anyones attention for a while, but we were in no hurry. Throughly recommend.

My future wife and I went for some lunch today, staff were all very friendly, restaurant not too busy and we were sat down and drinks order taken shortly after seating and then food. There was a fair old wait for the food (especially as it didn't seem so busy), I ordered a burger which was nice enough, my future wife ordered a quinoa salad, I don't eat salad but it was honestly the most appetising salad I've ever seen, she said it was very tasty. Very reasonably priced, the bill/payment took quite a while at the end of the meal too, so if you're not in a rush then would definitely recommend and we will be coming back

The food was good but the granola was slightly burnt and the raisins in it were hard as stones. Also had a sausage, bacon and egg wrap which was missing the egg. The other 4 dishes we had were very good though.

I had travelled from France and was visiting friends in Swindon for lunch on a Saturday. They booked Jack's and I was really looking forward to having a good catch up. How disappointed was I. We arrived on time for our table and sat down, the waitress gave us the menus and was back within a couple of minutes to ask for our choices. We had hardly said hello to each other. She was back and we hurriedly ordered cake and tea and one of us ordered a baked potato and coke. The tea and cake arrived in 5 minutes, we had to ask twice for the coke and after 25 minutes asked if the baked potato was on it's way. My friend who finally received her baked potato said it was ok. However the cake we had was so dry I couldn't finish it. I mentioned to the waiter and was surprised by his response "oh, yeah, they were the last 2 slices so probably left out for a while and maybe a bit stale" - no apology or I'll take something off the bill etc. Then we were abruptly asked to leave as they wanted the table to clean for the next booking. With all the chasing up and interruptions we had little time to talk to each other. So unwelcoming, poor service and the food really wasn't up to much. Personally, I don't recommend the venue at all. Huge disappointment.

Spent a lovely Sunday lunchtime here today with my friend. It was an early Birthday meet up. The service was very polite and friendly by 'Gregory'. Not sure if that is the correct name, but it was on the receipt! We felt nice and relaxed, not rushed, even though it was getting busier before we left. The food was great: roast dinner and chocolate brownie for dessert. Good portion sizes and well presented. Everywhere was kept clean and tidy. Highly recommended, and will definitely go back again. Food was great and loving the new decor. Just a shame about the service. They were proper busy and only had one waitress taking orders, as we were given a table off to the side other tables that came in after us got order taken first. 30 mins for order to be taken and then another 20 mins before we got our drinks, not to mention the wait time for the food. If they had more staff I would rate higher!

The quality of the breakfast is outstanding. I have not tasted breakfast like it. I have been several times, and I would not hesitate to recommend to friends and family.

It is somewhat unexpected to be treated with care and courtesy in restaurants nowadays. Personnel here is really welcoming and nice. They greet you when you enter and are listening to you when you make the orders. I was there with part if the training team for a MET couse at Core Elements, trainer included. And albeit we had only 1 hour break, everything went smoothly and we were in the class in time and full. Loved the food too, many choices from typical pub to international cuisine for affordable prices. Highly recommended 👌

Went in for a coffee, shown to a table then completely ignored. The lady went to get an order from people at table next to us and completely ignored me so walked out Not happy 😫

Nice decor inside, nice tasting food presented well. Old waitress or manageress very blunt and couldn’t manage a smile. The food took far too long to come out, about 40 mins and I had to eat in 5 mins as I had an appointment. This was a ciabatta and a jacket potato with cheese by the way.

Have visited Jack’s on two separate occasions approximately three years apart. Both times, the staff and their service has been absolutely amazing! Despite being so busy, they always provide service with a smile. The first time I visited, I enjoyed their Afternoon Tea with Prosecco for £40pp. Despite being quite a high price point, the top ups were frequent and it was the perfect amount of food, so very much worth the money. The second visit was just last month. Again, great service. Only disappointing thing was the time it took for everything to arrive. 15 minutes passed after ordering before our coffee’s arrived. Then another 10 minutes until the food. I thought it would have been sooner as it wasn’t particularly busy and their seemed to be a lot of staff on. But that aside, I would wholeheartedly recommend Jack’s to visit for a bite to eat!

OK food, nice waiter but appalling, rude and prejudiced owner. Out for a special Mother’s Day, and my son with complex medical needs was expressing his excitement at being out with his family and enjoying himself (albeit a little loud). These are special times making precious memories and no need to be marred by a nasty inappropriate comment alluding to the fact that my son should not be enjoying himself, “I have 47 patrons to consider” Shame he didn’t feel it necessary to tell his table of friends that face timing loudly was upsetting his patrons!!!! If you have nothing nice to say don’t say it, what happened to be kind!!! Will NEVER step foot in this place again!!!!

Time waiting for food, and this took at least 2hrs, when finally served, cold ask for the manager. If we didn't accept what was served then leave no apology. Do not recommend this place for customer satisfaction 🙄

Went for a Sunday lunch. Arrived at 1.30 sat at our table waited 45 mins for a drink then at 3.30 our food arrived cold and inedible. Tge staff were miserable and slow. Complained to the owner who was not only rude and argued the fact but told us if we didn't like it leave. Would not recommend this place..

Burger comes with no salad inside and no sauce - the bare minimum. At least the chicken salad was dressed nicely and moist. Had to get the waitress’ attention to ask for the bill. 5-10 minutes later she came to the table to clear the plates but brought no bill with her, so reminded the lady again. After 10 minutes of waiting again (with no sign of the bill), I decided to get up and pay at the front. Overall the experience would’ve been enjoyable if the staff actually paid attention to the guests. There were a lot of staff just standing around chatting. Perhaps service could’ve been quicker if it wasn’t just one lady taking orders of the whole place etc…

Upon the food’s arrival, the server lifted the burger bun with her hand at the table to check its got chorizo and is the right one… Food tasted good but I’d say it’s just slightly overpriced. Burger comes with no salad inside and no sauce - the bare minimum. Oh and £3.50 for a small ramekin of store bought coleslaw! At least the chicken salad was dressed nicely and moist. Had to get the waitress’ attention to ask for the bill. 5-10 minutes later she came to the table to clear the plates but brought no bill with her, so reminded the lady again. After 10 minutes of waiting again (with no sign of the bill), I decided to get up and pay at the front. Overall the experience would’ve been enjoyable if the staff actually paid attention to the guests. There were a lot of staff just standing around chatting. Perhaps service could’ve been quicker if it wasn’t just one lady taking orders of the whole place etc…

Wasn’t impressed whatsoever. Service was slow leaving us confused if we order at the bar or the table. Drinks didn’t arrive until after our mains. Food was sub par, it’s obviously all bought at Bookers or Lidl, and certainly isn’t worth £13 for a breakfast. The beans for example were bland and mainly juice, and the chips were plain as anything. Other places in and around Swindon that provide a unique ambience and better quality meal for less money. Music was in good taste though. My mate suggested we try this place so I blame him.

Fast serving of dishes, tasty and inexpensive.

Pretty disappointed in my meal out at Jack’s on Friday. Had to wait an hour and a half for starters to arrive. The prawn cocktails were extremely stingy in the serving. Chicken satay skewers decidedly overcooked. Mains weren’t much better with the Halloumi burger going...

We were looking for somewhere nice for breakfast/brunch place In Swindon & this was great find. Jack was such a gentleman, he was attentive & served with a smile. The Ambience cozy, other staff service was good too! The food was lovely, well presented and tasty too even had Tabasco. Thank you

Entered restaurant, no wait to be seated sign no recognition from staff, so found table, got my own menu from counter, sat for 5 minutes, a member of team came over and immediately announced she would not let me have that table as she was going to be busy, I assumed therefore my money was not good enough, so went elsewhere, appalling treatment of a customer. Not recommended.

Booked and paid a deposit for a friend's birthday for the gin Cream tea to be told the day before they weren't serving it that day very disappointing and would not honor the booking ,we won't be going there again not a good experience.

Very nice English breakfast BUT I ordered a waffle which was clearly of the frozen variety and ROCK HARD. My children had pancakes which were light and fluffy but clearly not the case with the waffles. I offered feedback when I paid my bill and...

A friendly well run resteraunt, serving good quality food, cooked to perfection, although the roast potatoes could be better, crispier on the outside. Thank you Jacks.
