J Tait Chip Shop in Newcastle upon Tyne

After hearing negative reviews to say the least from lots of people I decided to go and see if it was really as bad as I have heard, to say I was shocked is an understatement. The chips were cooked to perfection and the sausage was perfect with the right amount of batter too. Also the staff there were some of the most friendly people I have ever met I was there for hours talking to them they even gave me a fork for 5 pence. I think as far as fish and chips go you don’t get much better than tait’s it makes me emotional just writing this as the man and woman who worked there have made me a better person by giving me the best fish and chips of my life. All I can say is thank you

Me dieron el pescado y patatas fritas, mi amigo una tarta de carne y patatas fritas. La comida estaba preparado a mi gusto (bien hecho) de pescado blanco y firme era brillante. Pasta ligera y crujiente. Patatas fritas encantador. Precio medio de la porción de buen tamaño. Tienda y el personal son miserables y no individual.

i got kebab and chips 3 weeks ago the kebab was disgusting didnt even taste like kebab and was so hard and dry and the chips were ok nothing great then couple of days later tried jumbo sausage and chips this being something i eat all the time and that was again just horrid and burnt then today got cod and chips it was more like batter and chips the batter was so thick ive never seen so much batter in my life and it was burnt and again the chips were ok nothing good and the staff are so depressing they have no customer service skills at all over all horrific experience i will be avoiding at all costs oh and they are over priced bottle of pop £1.40 yeah the shop next door sells pop for £1.10

hace un año esta "fish and chips" era genial, ahora gracias al nuevo propietario muy apretado fisted la comida es comestible! He estado varias veces desde que el nuevo propietario y cada vez la comida termina en la papelera. Simplemente porque la grasa no cambian, toda la comida es marrón oscuro y crujientes. evitar!

I used to often stop here whilst doing deliveries in the late evening and it was a good old fashioned fish and chip shop. It was over 6 years since I last visited and I will never be back, my fish supper was served without a smile or any resemblence of friendlieness. The fish was like rubber and had been sitting so long it was inedible, the chips were a disgrace and had obviously been reheated on several occasions. After a couple of bites I gave the whole lot to the seagulls at the quayside - they actually ate them - I was surprised! I should have went back and complained but the rain and lack of time put me off. If you are in North Shields go down to the quayside where the chip shops are excellent, if however you want to visit what is in my opinion a leading contender for the worst fish & chip shops in the world then try Tait's.
