Kind of a tired spot for breakfast. Staff was curt, not quite impolite but almost. Food was adequate. Clearly a chain restaurant without much pride in their work.

Food was delicious however staff are super rude. Didn’t even speak when handing over food/drinks at the table bar one lady who was lovely.

We popped into this pub before going for our meal. It was very busy in here, there were big crowds around the bar area waiting to get served. There seemed to be plenty of bar staff but I just think there were just lots of people in there early evening. It’s just what you expect when going in here, it’s cleaner than some Wetherspoons I have been in, toilets were clean. Drinks of course are a good price, we managed to get a table , but lots were standing up. It’s just handy before eating out.

We had a great lunch at J.J. Moons yesterday. We shared a starter which was adequate for the two of us and we ordered Purple Moose ale which was delicious. The main course was cooked to perfection and the service was excellent. We could not resist ordering a mini dessert each even though our hunger had been satisfied by the first two courses. Ordering from the table using the app was stress-free and effortless. I came here with a friend three weeks before and the food and service were excellent then, too, so well done to J.J. Moons for maintaining such high standards whilst prices remain modest.

We had a drink in here before our meal. It was very busy and quite loud in here. We got served quickly as they had lots of staff working. We could not find a table or any stools because it was so busy. We managed to find somewhere to stand snd a ledge for our drinks. We o it stayed for one drink, it is what you expect from a Wetherspoons pub, ok for a quick drink but busy and quite loud in there.

Feel sorry for the young bar staff here, being bullied by their 'power' abusing manager. Was told by a member of staff whilst he was pouring my drinks and happily taking my money that his 'manager' had told him he wasn't allowed to serve my friend anymore as she was drunk. She wasn't drunk. She had bumped into an old friend at the bar and they were excitedly catching up. Seemingly a crime in this pub. My drink got knocked over at the bar and so when i asked to buy another one i was told by the same server that his manager had now told him he wasnt allowed to serve any of us (3 people) again because my friend was drunk. I asked to speak to the 'manager' and really wished i hadn't bothered. Clearly over using his 'power to over compensate for something. Stated some nonsense about policy. Couldn't produce the policy or explain why someone appearing drunk means anyone else is guilty by association. Refusing to serve even a soft drink to anyone who is with said 'drunk'person isn't policy or sense it's ridiculous and uneccessary. Manager clearly needs re training, needs to let his staff decide if someone needs to stop being served themselves. Maybe take the poor chap to a couple of parties or out of the basement he dwells in so that he can see that just because someone appears happy that doesn't make them drunk. People go to a bar to drink and unless clearly a danger to themselves or others to keep serving alcohol then he should do the job he is paid to do and serve them, not flex his authority just because he can. Literally serving trays full of sambucca to punters next to us but overly concerned about intoxication levels of a women who had had one drink in this pub. Obviously helped thaf the large group of drunk people ordering trays of shots were men. Didn't fancy picking on them funnily.

We come in as a family of his 2 daughters and our niece in law We have been spending a lot of money at the bar, not causing trouble and enjoying our evening when one of the bar staff (lady) informed us that we was not being served anymore (we was not drink at the time) we was enjoying our drink There was a mishap with the drinks and we didn’t think we had taken our off the bar but we had which we had rectified This young girl told us that we was no longer welcome to the bar and we was not being served anymore. If we was being loud and aggressive then I would completely understand but to come from a christening and just want to have a small drink of celebrations and be told we wasn’t going to be served was very rude I could understand if we was being rude and abusive but we was being respectful and just asking for a drink and to be told we are barred from the bar is very rude for us. Wr are regulators in this pub and we feel extremely disheartens and disappointed by the decision that has been made We rectified the issue as it was a human error however the girl behind the bar was adamant we was not being served anymore. We reccomend a lot of our friends and family to this pub however we will be reviewing our decision.

We had a drink in here before a meal and it is such good value as are all Wetherspoons. I feel this pub is better than the two Wetherspoons that are in Romford, it seems to be in better condition. It gets very busy as you would expect for the prices, you get all age groups in here, there is plenty of space and lots of tables to sit at. Plenty of people were eating here, I know Wetherspoons meals are great value, it has a bus stop right outside, so great to get hone if you are using a bus. It’s a great place to start your evening.

The title of the review sums this place up. Unbelievable little gaff, 10/10 service as always from the staff. Cheapest drinks since sliced bread - if you want quick drinks go to the bar, if you want to spread the alcohol over hours then order to the table. Always rammed on a fridi & satdi night, full of youngsters, West Ham fans, or both. J J Moons is home in more ways than one. What a place.

Moons is in the high street in Hornchurch, there is a car park to the rear of the pub. Which I think you pay for. The pub is large with plenty of seating & offers a range of pub grub and cheap drinks. The staff work hard and we’re working non stop. This included the staff clearing tables. The place is probably in need of an freshen up. But is very popular due to the cheap cost of the drinks & food. A small bottle of pink Prosecco was only £2.99 They have a good choice of beers & larger. Moons also have table service where you can use the app to order. It’s a very busy pub, which is probably due to the cheapness of everything.

Probably the worst spoons I’ve been to In a while ( I’ve been to a few) . Only one person on the bar on a Saturday ! The food when it arrived was pretty poor , oil clearly needed changing! The chicken wings were burnt ( never had burnt wings before ) 2 🥄s out of 10. Glad this one isn’t my local big up the playhouse !!🥄

really gone down hill as a regular for ten years i have been going to this pub. food was cold and delayed. service was shockingly bad. steak night used to be great. it wasnt even busy. waited for 25 mins just to get a beer! so sad to see such a huge change and not for the better. saying goodbye to the place.

I typically use this pub 1 - 2 every week and normally it is very good. Now I know COVID has messed a lot of things up, but this was a very disappointing visit today. First the APP was not working although there are signs everywhere telling you to use it. The service was unbelievable slow, I think because the management have clearly cut down on staff. Although I have to say the young lady who actually served us eventually was working very hard o no blame on her at all. When the food did finally did arrive, one meal was correct the other wrong. So one meal was left, and as it was luke warm to say the least, so it had to be eaten whilst we waited for the second meal to be corrected. The gammon also sadly was the worse I have ever had in a Weatherspoon, mostly gristle. Plus there were groups all around the pub that clearly were not from the same household, with far more beer than food being ordered. And there was no contactless payment, rather the server took my card away from me, (not a good practice) and brought it back, I can only trust she rang the correct amount into the till. So Mr Martin, this visit today was extremely poor and I think most of it down to management cutting back on staff. I rate the service a Terrible today, but this was not the fault of the young lady who was trying to serve everyone.

What a complete dump, rude staff and even worse manager. Fatlin & firkin such a better pub just a little bit further up the rd.

This place is a joke, I watched that ridiculous bouncer Karen kick out three girls, on the table next to me, who were heading to the toilet just because they were standing up! Sorry can u not got to the toilet anymore? It’s a human violation would never recommend going to this place when there r bouncers like this kicking young girls into the streets for going to the toilet! That Karen needs to seriously look at herself! No manners whatsoever and needs to seriously look at herself. These girls, who I don’t even know, stood up for no more than a minute! Absolutely furious!!

Good great really good value can't fault it. Spoilt by moody agrresuve staff .not all the staff they work really hard...one very aggressive member of staff Jake? Get another job serving pints to paying customers isn't right for you...after all we are paying your salary!

Karen is really friendly helpful and very funny she’s the best bouncer ever firm but fair she’s awesome

My wife and I go there occasionally all ways have a great time loads of friends up there to catch up with bar staff are good .food ok we like the 3 starters for a tenner specially the cheesy chips.the door staff are very polite specially karen who goes that extra mile if needed.and not forgetting mark who always meets us with a smile and wit and the others are all polite

We went to this pub on Saturday afternoon, for my dad to meet with his friends. He is very unwell so we accompany him from afar, so as not to cramp his style. I will be strongly recommending that he and his friends find another meeting place. The tables are full of dirty dishes and glasses and have more sticky rings than the party shop. The place stinks of stale beer and there are so many flies you're scared to talk in case you eat one. Thats before you try to order a drink, get ignored and when you finally get served, it's by a stroppy teen. While waiting I noticed how rude they are to the older generation. Clearly respect is not on the menu. Avoid!

We hop off the district line at Hornchurch station and begin our quest. We jump on the 193 which brings us to the gates of heaven: JJ Moons.Our favourite eye-patch wearing bouncer pulls out her torch to check our ID's for the 1000th time. She confirms that we haven't dropped below 18 since we came yesterday. She gives us the go ahead as we crawl back into our swamp.The sweet scent of Koppaberg on tap fills my nostrils - we have arrived - and it smells like home.We hastily find a table (despite the busyness of a Friday night) and beeline to the bar for the sesh to begin. I am moments away from feeling the refreshing taste of Strongbow Dark Fruits for £2.30 on my taste buds. Value for money most could only dream about. Without hesitation I tap my contactless card on the reader as the barmaid promptly returns, bearing her gift to me like one of the three wise men. JJ Moons staff have turned service into an art form. A shiver tingles up my spine as I clasp the ice cold beverage - the moment is finally here...The clink of our glasses bounces around the venue as a whole pint of liquid enters our stomachs in 5 seconds flat.The rest, they say, is history.See you tomorrow, JJ Moons.

One of the better Wetherspoons in this area. Fish and chips could not be faulted - not at all greasy. Drinks and good are exceptionally cheap which is why they are always busy.

Yesterday friday gone 28th June I ordered fish and chips with peas and grilled tomatoes plus an extra portion of chips the girl bought it over in a takeaway box's I took them home for my partner well to my horror the fish was nothing like they served up on a plate the fish was broken in half oily greasy not the crispy fish seen on plates chips well if you can call them chips soggy and only about 15 /20 no peas not even.rhe grilled tomatoes also the extra chips costing me £2.80p for what you may ask 20 chips soggy not crispy the next day I told the same girl who took the order all I got was sorry about that not even a replacement meal i can tell you now i will never ask for a takeaway in jj moons hornchurch again disgusting meal not fit for a cat plus it depends on whose cooking in my case I got the ropey end sorry but I was taken on here... Ripped of like it came out of a dustbin never again get your act together moons on takeaway it should look like it was served on a plate in my case out of a bin in.half and greasy ripped off VIP BEN

I have been in quite a few Wetherspoons before, but unfortunately this one is in need of some overdue updating. Whilst the meals were good. Plentiful and good value. The surroundings were rather a let down, very dark and gloomy was the overall effect. Not a good atmosphere for lunch.

this is the second time we have visited here, wasnt sure if we would get a table as mothers day, but yes we got a double table as there were 7 of us, lovely lady was just cleaning and redoing the table, food and drinks ordered, drinks we took straight away, all the food came out about 10-15 mins later, very nice, hot and delicious, we stayed for approx 2hours. £70 for us all, good value for money

The food all smelt like fish despite ordering steak and it was also massively undercooked. The eggs were runny. I was also told quite plainly by a waitress that what I was looking at was a table place Matt with a menu on despite mid flow in conversation with my partner. I have eaten at lots of different weatherspoons but I would not recommend this particular one based on my recent experience. I felt like a pig eating at a troff.

I visited this weatherspoon pub yesterday admittedly only because my daughter was attending an under eighteens party next door and it was raining so we decided to eat and wait for her in the pub rather than look for a restaurant. Most of the evening was pretty uneventful, we drank and had snacks while we waited . It was myself my husband and my 15 year old son. The pub was the usual weatherspoons with sticky tables cheap drinks and basic food. At 8.45pm we ordered our meals including one for our 13 year old daughter who was about to join us from her party. The evening turned sour when my 13year old daughter was eating her dessert. The barmaid instead of having a quiet word in our ear regarding their child policy took it upon herself to ask my daughter in a very aggressive tone if she had ID and then started accussing her of drinking..It was quite obvious to anyone watching that she was there with her parents and she certainly wasn’t drinking.The rather large blonde barmaid then sent over the doorman who did what should of been done initially and had a quite word in my ear. This was fair enough as I hadn’t asked about the child policy. Shame the evening had to be ruined by this rather aggressive barmaid who really should not be working in a service industry. We won’t be back.

Had lunch and a quick drink here today and everything you would expect from a well-run Wetherspoons establishment. Good value for money and quick, polite service. Recommended.

As JJ Moons is local to us we often enjoy getting out for some food and drinks with Friends and Family during the week.

I had lunch at this pub, it weas served quickly and was of good quality. There is also a good selection of real ales. Recommended.

Can be quite loud, feel like the seats & dated carpets could probably use a good clean - tables are sometimes sticky, food completely microwaved - but staff are friendly. It’s no frills, cheap & somewhat cheerful, a typical spoons I guess

You get what you pay for in a Weatherpoons pub good food and cheap drinks, plenty of real ales to choose from and also have a cheap ale for lest than £2, can't complain about that!

I used to have a steak and chips meal there about four times a week along with some excellent real ales, but I now refuse to be subjected to the obnoxious behaviour of a staff member named Angie, (the idiot with the tattoos) She can be quite nice and decent sometimes but chooses to be rude and nasty when things are not going her way or she has a bad day, which is a lot of the time now. She kicked me out once for complaining that I got the wrong change then lied to the manager about what I said. Good Job I had witnesses.

Went here on Saturday evening to meet some friends. It gets really packed but atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. Anyone would feel comfortable here as the age range is from young to old. The drinks are reasonably priced and, for example, 2 bottles of Peroni for £5 represents excellent value for money. You can't go wrong with a Wetherspoons - you know exactly what you are going to get!

On a trip back to Romford to sort out a funeral , took my veggie daughter to breakfast where she orders a cheese and tomato Panini , and I ordered the standard meat breakfast , My breakfast was cold and the daughters meal had ham in it and she only found out after she took a bite. service was , well slow and sloppy , dont think they could give a damn , and the toilets , well, took my breath away with the stench of urine, not going back there , have used the pub a few times before but this time , it was a disgrace .

Do not go here if you want a chilled night and if you're over the age of 18 cos otherwise they'll ignore you or find an excuse to kick you out.

I enjoyed a nice light dinner here. The place is quite spacious and so there were plenty of tables available shortly before 5 pm on a Friday.

I have been here a couple of time, The pub offers a good choice of real ale and other mixer drinks that are not always available at other pubs. The pub also offers a good choice of menu at a good price.

I visited here with friends on Thursday night. It was curry night so I ordered the vegan curry. It tasted vaguely like curry and was served with rice, naan bread and pappadoms. The pub was busy so it was very loud and difficult to have a conversation. Definitely a man’s pub. The prices are good but you get what you pay for. Wetherspoons used to be better.

You can smell the old men standing at the bar before you even enter. Typical boozer for wetherspoons, cheap, cheerful and the usual pub grub.

We went in for the Tuesday steak club, the food was ok and there is a good choice of drinks and the pub has quite a relaxed atmosphere.

It’s fair to say that this is not the smartest pub in the area & some of the customers could definitely do with shower, but when it comes to value for money it knocks spots off of all the local competition.

I thought I would give J.J.Moons another try since my last visit around a year ago.The first thing I noticed but this could be down to me rather than actually being the case is that there is a distinct lack of warmth about the place and I don't mean the temperature.While I was in there I heard raised voices,saw a number of people who clearly were drunk (at 6pm) and perhaps its sheer size might be contributory to the fact that it did not have feel of a friendly local.

Like many Brits, I've been to lots of Wetherspoons, from the Isle of Wight to Inverness. I've seen them at their worst (Giddy Bridge in Southampton) and their best (Baker Street in London and the one in York stand out), but none compare to our local Wetherspoons in Hornchurch. If we ever move, we will genuinely miss this place! It's always clean and tidy, it has a nice homely and welcoming atmosphere, the food is cooked beautifully (no watery poached / scrambled eggs in the mornings) and the customer service is the best I've ever experienced. Barmaid, Lisa, is particularly wonderful. She knows everyone there and always makes people laugh and smile! Lisa obviously really cares about making people happy and doing an excellent job and treats everyone with equal enthusiasm. In life it is the little things that count and Lisa, and Vicky too, make more of a difference to people's lives than I think they realise - by working to high standards and by being themselves! Lisa always warms our hot chocolate mugs for us and used to make the best iced frappes ever! JJ Moons is so much more than a pub because of all the staff. Lisa and Vicky have stood out to us because they are so friendly, fun, hard working and provide such excellent standards of service. It is the staff that make this place such a nice environment to eat, drink, socialise, spend time with family, read or get some work done in the mornings. If you're reading this, Lisa and Vicky, thank you on behalf of all of us.

Went here today with a group of 40 ladies, they had reserved a section for us which was nice. We had two waitresses who worked very hard serving everyone a one point there was five bringing out the meals. Everyone enjoyed there food all nicely cooked no complaints from anyone.

Went in a large group of friends for a catch up and chat ( 12 of us ) service at...

Reason for visit was West Ham had early kick off so decided on breakfast and beer. Food is ok ,...

What I hear about this place ignoring people standing at the bar in favour of those they recognise as regular customers is definitely true. This has happened to me on several occasions, most often (and inexplicably, because you'd assume she would be experienced enough to know better!) this is the attitude of a slightly older woman working behind the bar who appears to be the manager or supervisor at least. She doesn't wear a name badge, I assume she doesn't want to be identified. This lady's appalling attitude towards customers is just plain ignorant and makes her unsuitable for a position that is client-facing. I've witnessed it with other customers, not just me.

Here every Thursday without fail.I choose either :- Chicken Jalfrezi or Chicken Balti or Chicken tikka masala.Excellent. Quick ish service.

Friends and I have visited JJ Moons on a few occasions and I find it disgusting that two of the ladies toilets have been out of order for months what is going on. This is a very busy pub why can't they get a plumber and sort it out.On complaining to staff it seems to go in one ear and out the other.

We went here today for lunch, the pub was quite busy but we found a table ok. The table was dirty and not cleaned all the time we were there, we ordered our meals and drinks at the bar and must say the bar staff were good and friendly, our meals came out quick and were fine, we decided to order some drinks to the table using the Wetherspoon App but this is where it went a bit wrong it seems as though the place is understaffed and our online order was overlooked so after about 15 minutes we notified the server and he went to bring our drinks to us.

Had a meal here before going to a show. The chicken breast burger was really nice and the chips, so delicious. The staff here are quite friendly but the bar staff that particular day, could have raised a smile !

Standard wetherspoons. Good value for money basic food..but fine..edible. Can imagine parking difficult in the day..but there is a car park round the back down another street. Would come back again.

Have not been here for some time as food kept coming out cold. Such a shame as we were regular Sunday diner's. Go now and then for a drink and home for dinner.

Usual Weatherspoon's breakfast menu which offers great value. We had a traditional breakfast and smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel with rocket. With two coffees it was under £8. Really friendly helpful staff. Well located large pub in Hornchurch. The only thing that spoilt it was the number of regulars at 9am drinking beer !

Polite staff food cooked well better than some local café's.It's no wonder there are a lot of retired people here as the price is so cheap for what you get.

Went for lunch New Years Eve as we were out in the evening, note on the door to say closing at 5, good idea, but they were opening again later for New Year, staff also reminded us when we got served. Although very busy the staff worked the bar well, very polite and efficient, took our food/drink order, even offering an alternative beer as one was off. Steak & doombar pie and chicken/bacon/avocado salad with side of garlic bread & coleslaw. Only waited 10 mins all arrived, pie hot. Staff twice checked everything OK with meals. All for under £20!

Wrong food prices..which we queried but we were told we were wrong..they were wrong so had to change order and price. Brought out the starters with the main courses so food went cold and there was no room anything on the table..2 out of our party of 7 hadn't even received their food by the time everyone else had finished..had to go and ask for their food..when it arrived it had to be sent back again. Bought another drink while we waited for the others to finish and the girl said "13.04 please.. excuse me? "No sorry that's the time..1.99 please.." what the hell is wrong with the staff..like a bunch of zombies..

I've eaten breakfast there 3 times now, and it's very good and reasonable vfm, but it could be served up a little hotter.The filter coffee is good and you get free refills till 2pm.

Visited here for a meal before going to a show. Was dreading it a little as we ate in a pub in Romford of the the same organisation and it was disgusting. I had Pasta Pomodoro with chicken and my friend had the Beef Lasagne. Both meals were served quickly and presentation was very good, as for the taste, both were delicious all washed down with a spiced gold rum n Coke. Thank you to all the staff for friendliness and lovely food

I came in followed by another guy. The barmaid (there was only one ) was serving somebody. When she'd finished, she served the guy after me as he was a regular and she knew what he wanted. While she was pouring his, another regular came to the bar and she decided to take his order before mine. This is the kind of thing that causes sooo much trouble in our pubs. I spent a few years working behind the bar and had it drummed into me how important it was to spot who was next. I eventually got served with the barmaid moaning how overworked she was. Not good. Not impressed.

If only the Boss of this pub chain devoted as much time to improving the standards of this pub as he did in promoting Brexit.I went there to have a meal deciding that my one previous experience was just a one-off bad day.I should perhaps have turned around and exited the place as soon as I witnessed the state it was in.It was extraordinarily untidy with empty tables full of empty glasses and uncleared,unwiped surfaces.It was not even busy and there was nobody else waiting to order when I was at the bar so the excuse of being too busy to cope with clearing tables did not apply.The food is quite cheap so my expectations were guarded.When it arrived it was barely warm,bland and the chips were soggy,as if somebody had dropped them in a bowl of water.How the chef managed to create a meal that was not even hot when it appeared that I was one of only two tables actually having food is quite a feat.I shall not be returning to this pub.I have eaten at another pub in the city which is owned by the same company.It was pretty good but I imagine they have a more demanding clientele.I will go to the nearby Sutton Arms where the food is so much better and where cleanliness and tidiness is regarded as a matter of course.The only positive I can apply to this review is that the staff are very personable and helpful.

I regularly go here with the service users from work. The burgers are okay but a little small even if it is filled with loads of salad but the portion of chips that you get is ridiculous!! I got 12 chips when I went last week!! 12!! It's too hard to complain when your with the guys but it's just a money saving game.... I know I've worked in a kitchen in a pub but come on that's a joke!!

I had the tandoori wrap and my son had the burger . Both were very good . It's always packed in here and sometimes ive struggled to get a table especially on fish friday so I like to come here super early to bag a table The staff are friendly even though they're busy and for a centrally located pub there seem to be many regulars as staff know their names and know what they're drinking The food is good and you don't have to wait too long even during busy periods . It's pub grub , nothing more nothing less but 'spoons seem to know how to be always consistent and I haven't found a bad one yet

Popped in with the Mrs for a pint off Guinness when I eventually got served which must have been at least 10 minuites while the wretched barmaid served her regulars first...I wouldn't have minded had it been a packed bar...Management take note that your barmaids serve people in the order they approach a bar NOT who they wish to serve... favouritism certainly was on her mind that day...Left after the Guinness I was served was unpalatable....

A quick dinner or pub snacks before a visit to queens theatre.foods ok,had a few naff meals,and had some really great meals.mixed bag really.its a nice pub.but noisy weekends.i still go there for a pint and a snack with the misses.

I can see why it's very popular I had the tandoori chicken wrap , came with a side of chips and a small white wine for £5.49 ... Absolutely well worth the money !The chips were hot and tasty , the wrap was tasty and the chicken not dry it was good and I ate it all Staff are very cheerful and friendly . Ive never had a problem with food here and can't wait to go back !

While the food isn't too bad it's spoiled by the customers that drink there from early morning till late at night,boozers paradise but not for the faint hearted

The service is always good so too is the beer. With regard to the food, it is hit and miss but on the whole not bad at all.

This is a run of the mill pub offering local punters a place to chill out & relax, it more a drinkers pub than a food pub

Beers cheap, and lots of variety to choose from! Food cheap and cheerful not Jamie Olivers but what can you expect for £4 including a beer. We always start our nights off here.

My fiancé and I visited for breakfast. We ordered the English breakfast which cost us £4.80 each. The food took around 15 minutes to come, we received a decent sized plate with 4 slices of toast. As we tucked in, I turned my toast over and it was charcoal black, the hash browns were over cooked full of oil and rock hard, the eggs were undercooked and gooey with the added bonus of a hair. The management had offered us a replacement but we were so put off, we had a full refund. Won't be returning.

Visited here recently, and we have nothing to complain, staff very friendly and helpful, even when pub got busy a couple of staff went out of there way to serve us when our glasses were empty especially one, who we later found out his name was nick, nothing was too much for him, always polite and friendly, and a lovely young man, an asset to your pub . Well done nick, we will be back again soon.

Staff are always very friendly. On a Friday night they are always busy but they all have a small on there face.

Unfortunately for me and my colleagues, the day we decided to visit the pub for a spot of lunch a not so friendly local who had stabbed another patron to death. The food however is always very nice and great value for money. Obviously as this is not a frequent occurrence we will be visiting again!

Typical Wetherspoons with great value for money food & drink. No it's not fine dining, but it would put a lot of other chain pub/restaurants to shame.

I always notice that tables are not always wiped. Breakfast is ok here, however, since the morning you meet guys drinking beer, therefore the place not family friendly. Smells of beers, cigarettes etc. Other than that, its value for money.

We normally go here if we are a little strapped for cash as it is the cheapest place to drink in Hornchurch . The bar staff are friendly and welcoming and the food is not too bad.

Visited on a wet Saturday afternoon after checking out the International Supermarket across the road (worth a look). Made our way towards an empty table at the rear of the pub (got a little chilly here towards the end of our visit due to use of the smokers area). The table still had glasses from previous customers on which were collected but the table wasn't wiped down & it was pretty sticky. Greeted at bar by a friendly enough barmaid who took my order - Large diet pepsi, no ice (it arrived with ice in), sparkling water (I was given still), Sweet potato & spinach curry (she struggled to find this on the till but another member of staff assisted. Arrived without Mango chutney, had to chase this up three times, they were waiting for it to 'come down'? & we were made aware that they'd run out of Nann (how?) so were given an extra poppadom, these were unfortunately stale), Standard Burger (this was a little overcooked but tasty enough). Like the Moon & Stars in Romford this branch of Wetherspoons is badly in need of an update, this one being even rougher around the edges.On this experience I probably won't go back to this Wetherspoons.

Sadly yet another poor experience from a previously enjoyed venue. As we were let down by another Hornchurch restaurant last night ,where only one of our party actually ate enough to be full we thought we would go for breakfast at tried & tested J J Moons. If this had been our first breakfast there we would have said never again. BUT seeing as this is the first bad breakfast there we will return. Now for the reasons to complain. ALL 3 breakfasts come out cold. We brought this to the attention of our waitress who took all 3 away. They did come back HOT (nuked) hot so the people that had previously runny cold eggs now had bullet hard hot eggs. Oh dear! With the amount of competition, what is going on with the Hornchurch eateries ?

I admire the staff who work behind the bar as they appear to put on a brave face when serving the drunken hordes descending on Hornchurch particularly on Fridays and Saturdays.The public who drink here should take a leaf out of the book of O` Gradys crowd in seven kings to see how to have a good time without turning the atmosphere into one of descending chaos and brawls.Well done Wetherspoons staff for putting up with ill mannered sorts!

staff great , all ways freindly and quick to serve , all ways know who next to be served food is all ways great and hot , when served like all weatherspoons pub . first class for cheap beer / food how do there do it at that price

We were going to the theatre but my partner didn't want to eat, so we popped in here because it wouldn't look so bad if only one of us were eating than it would have in a restaurant.I had the gourmet beef burger which was very good. Service was a little slow considering that there seemed more drinkers than diners but we found a good table so this wasn't really an issue.The menu is very varied and also very cheap. Loads of choices of drinks too.

Had a lovely meal here. Real value for money. It was very busy and we waited a little while for our meal but it was worth it. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. We will be back!

A couple of weeks ago I was staying in Hornchurch for a few days and went to JJMoons several times. It is a good place for a meal and to meet friends and have a few drinks. The staff were polite and very efficient and hard working. Even when it was crowded it did not take too long to get served and the food service is very quick. I had Ham eggs and chips which was good and one of my friends had the steak which he said was good as well. Every time I go there I find a great choice of real ales and lagers and it is a friendly atmosphere pub. Even friends who are members of CAMRA frequently drink here. I definitely recommend it. It is easy to get to as it's just opposite the bingo hall (old Towers Cinema) and the buses connecting to Romford and Upminster stop just outside. It also has free Wi Fi for those who want to use their laptops etc..I already posted a few photos but if tripadvisor or JJs doesn't like them for any reason, it's fine to delete them.

Have to say that there is a vast range of beers and spirits to choose from and the price is right!!! Great value for money and the food is great as well. Staff very friendly and helpful. Got to give it a try!!!

The service is friendly. the prices are good, their is a decent selection of food on the menu and it's always been well cooked. Great selection of beer.

I went here a week ago or so and it was really nice the stake was cook well and really good value for your money with a drink at 5.49 you cant go wrong. would recommend go and try

went for drinks before going to Tarantino's restauarant. Drinks good price. Not too pack got serviced quick, frindly staff

I have dined here on several occasions and always found the food and drink to be quite good. I particularly like the good selection of guest ales.
