Great wee cafe which has now closed with the enforced retiral of the owners thanks to them being unable to renew their lease on an annual rather than long term basis. A real loss to the town.

This great little cafe is no longer with the retiral of the owners seeing them close the doors for the last time. Have a great and long retiral - you will certainly be missed.

First opportunity to eat indoors since lockdown lifted, and what a kind welcome. The cafe has been nicely configured to look after its customers safely - I had a table beside the open door with lots of lovely fresh air coming in. Didn't know which cake to choose, but then the choice between toasted teacake and crumpets was suggested....

Delightful place, lovely and friendly, pretty decor. Food was gorgeous. Strange times at the moment but couldn't have asked for a friendlier welcome and service.

I would highly recommend JBs. They certainly have the best gluten free coffee and walnut and chocolate Ganache cakes I’ve ever had and I’ve had a few cakes. Also Betty makes a great banana loaf which my hubby loves. They do a great breakfast and for me who can’t eat a big breakfast John does a smaller one with great homemade bread or if you gluten free like me they have that too. Like they say it’s worth waiting for good homemade cooked food. Thank you John and Betty for always making us welcome in your cafe.

The flat white coffee is perfect, it is normally hard to find a good flat white, but here they really do it justice. Tea is great. They do gluten free too, an added bonus. I would thoroughly recommend Sweet Cafe , Olney.

A small coffee shop which provides a nice selection of snacks, soup and basic hot plated meals. This is the size of place that really has difficulty in meeting the stringent distance spacing requirements and make an adequate profit but by intelligent reorganisation and using the pavement in front, hopefully they are achieving an adequate turn over. Nice little venue with a great view for anyone who wants to see the world go by as they wait and consume their order.

Olney is not short of cafes, tea shops, coffee shops and the like. I have tried quite a few of them now and they vary greatly in style and quality. So far, the Sweet Café is as good as any. The ambiance and style of the place is not in the ubiquitous American/Continental coffee shop or deli model - not that there's anything wrong with those places - but Sweet Café reminds me of an old-fashioned British tea shop, which makes a refreshing change. It's clean and bright and cosy. Service is efficient and cheerful. There's plenty of choice of breakfasts, light lunches, brunches and snacks. I had a cheese and ham sandwich. Simple but delicious - the ham carved from a joint, the cheese tasty and mature, the bread fresh and crusty. It came with a small greek salad on the side, which is a nice touch. I finished with a piece of wonderful homemade banana loaf and a second very good coffee. Prices are very reasonable. I couldn't have asked for a more satisfying lunch or a more pleasant spot to enjoy it.

We popped in here for a bite to eat after a wander around Olney and we were not left disappointed! There was a large choice of food on the menu including various breakfast options and sandwiches and bagels. There was loads of choices of sandwich/bagel fillings that they have obviously put a lot of thought into, both mine and my partners were delicious and very filling! We would definitely recommend this place for lunch.

Went there for breakfast with a friend. Fabulous little place in a nice location in the centre of Olney. Really good quality produce and excellent choices. I had brown toast with avocado, tomato, bacon and friend egg - this was so tasty! My friend was really happy with her choice of bfast too, she then bought a selection of cakes to take away, which were all freshly made and looked gorgeous. I can't wait to go back!

What a lovely find this turned out to be. My friend and I popped in to grab a cake to share for our trip home, but the owner was so friendly and talked us into staying for a coffee and breakfast tea with our scone. It’s a small cafe, but light and open. Love the ‘pick and mix’ style sweets and ice creams available too. Scone was big enough to share, packed with fruit and delicious with the clotted cream and jam. Breakfast tea was properly served - tea leaves, strainer, everything. As for my coffee, it was wonderfully hot and I was able to drink it slowly and enjoy it. Usually I end up with lukewarm coffee that goes cold too quickly, so this was a nice surprise. A hidden gem of Olney run by lovely people. I’ll definitely visit again.

Stopped here for late lunch yesterday. Asked if bagel option could be swapped for a toasty... no problem. Food came... delicious. Lovely greek salad on the side. We then had a cream tea.... lovely warm fresh scone... my friend had the home made waffles with fruit and ice cream. Tea lovely and as we were there a while owner offered to top up the pot and milk. Clean loos too. Would definitely return.

It may appear small but this place is way better than most cafes I've been in. Friendly service. Food quality is superb: well cooked, fresh with good quality ingredients. Had the best cup of coffee I've drunk for years. Highly recommended.

A smashing cafe which despite being pretty small, is one of the best in a town where you are spoiled for choice. Not perhaps the most appealing looking place from outside but step over the threshold and you will be pleasantly surprised with the experience. We visited for breakfast and my health conscious daughter asked for Toast, yoghurt, peaches & blueberries, never for one minute expecting the delicious plateful that arrived and it wasn’t even on the menu. My wife had poached eggs on toast and vows they are the best in town and I guess if looks are anything to go by, she was more than satisfied with them. Me? I had a sausage sandwich and although not worth photographing, have to say it was very nice. Really nice to see this owner run cafe increase its customer base despite competition from chains the likes of Costa, Subway and Out of Office.

My boyfriend and I were starving and decided to stop here for breakfast on a Saturday morning. The cafe felt warm and welcoming and the menu had something to suit any taste. We ordered two coffees (which came promptly), a cooked breakfast and bacon and scrambled egg savoury waffle with maple syrup. Both breakfasts were really tasty and fairly priced. Will definitely return here. Staff friendly and a lovely selection of milkshakes and sweets too!

After walking out of the Bull Hotel due to appalling service and a lack of food (see separate review) we landed here for lunch and wished we had gone here in the first place. We both had a brie, bacon and cranberry bagel served with a greek side salad and the food was very good. I would certainly also recommend the hot chocolate made from dark chocolate which was lovely and hot. Friendly and fast service and a nice selection of sandwiches, cakes and retro selection of sweets to bring back childhood memories. Would certainly visit again.

My wife and I visited J&B; Sweet Cafe in Olney for a Sunday breakfast and we both went for the Large Full English which at just £6.90 is excellent value. For that you get two bacon rashers, two sausages, two eggs, baked beans, hash brown, grilled tomatoes and toast. The cafe is very casual and there were Sunday newspapers available for customers. My latte was also great as was my wife's Hot Milk Chocolate. There were some great looking cakes and also old fashioned sweets, so great for kids.

Passing through Olney last month on a balmy Saturday around brunch time I stopped to take in the sites and found myself seated outside J & B Sweet Cafe with a cappuccino and enjoying the footfall of the Market Square and a surprising amount of traffic. The coffee was really good, but possibly a little too small, but the ‘sweet’ side of the business which I had imagined would be presented in vintage labelled antiquated jars, was in fact more Martin McColl’s newsagents pick n mix, and a little bit of a disappointment.

Friendly service and tasty toasties (with small salad on the side), soup of the day, sandwiches, cookies and cakes (including gluten free). Tea is loose-leaf & in a nice, big pot. Choice of coffees and hot chocolates. Sweets range from old-fashioned jars to pocket-money treats. Very pleasant for lunch solo or with a small group of friends. Tables by the windows are popular.

This little cafe is the perfect place to pop in to for a chat and brew. It is often overlooked as just a sweet shop, which is a real shame. Lovely loose leaf tea as standard in your teapot and tasty toasties which come with a delicious greek feta side salad. Highly recommend the hummus with mixed roasted vegetables. Friendly owners too!

Came across this place whilst on a weekend to Emberton park. I had the toast and avocado with a pot of loose leaf tea. It was delicious. The bread was locally sourced and the tomato organic. The cakes were all homemade but I was too full from the toast. Will come back here again!

I came here with my daughter only by chance, we just knew we wanted a good cup of coffee & maybe something to eat. We certainly got that here. We ordered coffee & carrot cake, I'm sure the carrot cake was homemade, we were served by a lovely lady & both the coffee & carrot cake didn't disappoint. The coffee shop is very eclectic, all the tables & chairs are mismatched & the crockery, although of the best quality, is all different, we just loved the fact the side plates our cake was served on were of different shape & design. Our only problem was that although we were both very full from the huge portion of cake we had just eaten, we just had to choose some of the wonderful old fashioned sweets in the jars scattered around the shop. What a great idea. I hadn't eaten Army & Navy lozenges for years & they brought back lovely memories, as did the chewing nuts, only this time I had to watch my fillings! Thank you so much for a great experience & we hope to eat with you again soon

Situated in Watersons bookshop this coffee shop has a good range of snack foods and soups. Service is quick and hot foods will be brought to your table. I had Lentil soup which was delicious and had a nice peppery kick which was unexpected - truly satisfying. Served with two slices of a lovely brown bread and butter it was a meal in itself. Add a nice cup of latte and a packet of hand cooked crisps just set me up for a afternoon Christmas shopping. Nice place which was Covid secure. Whenever a table was vacated, a sign was placed effectively putting it out of service till fully sanitized. Wish others would follow suit.
