Istanbul in Sheffield

I had a wonderful dining experience at Istanbul in Sheffield! The food was delicious, and the portions were generous, leaving us more than satisfied. A special shout-out to the manager, Maria, who was incredibly welcoming and treated us with such kindness throughout our meal. Her warm hospitality made the experience even better.

Great place for family gathering and casual meal would definitely come here again! The ribs might be a bit salty though but it's all good.

Wow! This place caught me off guard! It may look like a humble restaurant but the flavours were truly out of this world. The flavours transported me back to Istanbul itself, and I should know, I've been there! I really was tempted to buy another main dish after finishing my first, but one must succumb to the needs of the wallet. Don't be fooled, it's incredibly fairly priced, my wallet is just not cutting the kofta at this time. Keep on doing your shish, and you'll never look back. Signing out, Alexander the Great 👍🏻

Excellent taste with variety of options to try from.

Grilled meat was too dry and rough to eat. Lamb had smell.

The food, for me, is average, I ordered Grilled shrimp Lentil soup Alfredo pasta Mixed grill with too much salt. There is free Turkish tea after eating. The service is good.

Came here on evening 15th May 2023. Terrible hospitality, pushed out right after eating. Food not cooked properly. The main waitress in her late 30s/40s was very rude to the other waiting staff. For no reason, they were working calm and well. She was so power hungry, she came over and interrupted me talking with my Mum, as her dish wasn't served as it should be and mine was floating in water. She interjected about how my dish is cooked, not even realising what we were talking about. It was offensive for 3 reasons; 1) I am English AND Turkish. 2) My Mum has an extensive background in authentic Turkish cooking and 3) I was introducing my former English partner to what I expected to be authentic cuisine and most important - Turkish hospitality. The woman even came to us right after eating and servimg a bottle of wine that ' we need the table very soon'. Ok so why serve a fresh bottle of wine?! I post this nearly a year later because I was invited there by a friend and told them this story. If you are happy with blander food go for it. The cooks seem nice but this isn't restaurant quality imo. Much better off exploring the smaller Turk restaurants in Sheffield.

Came in here after a day sesh. It's quite nice being able to go in and be able to sit down like a proper restaurant. We had the moussaka, mixed kebab, garlic bread, vine leaves, a variety of food. This was pretty good. Would definitely come back

We had a lovely sharing platter which was freshly cooked and they was enough for four people. The staff were friendly. The place was nice and clean. The price for four people with drinks was not to dear ££. I would recommend a visit here

Ordered one kebab charged for 2 then when’s asked to look at cctv to confirm they refused and got aggressive toward female customers offering them out due this their mistake. Do not recommend, misogynistic men thinking they rule over women and think they are right over women when they are in the wrong and wanting to slap them about

Amazing wraps, with no doubt the best of its kind in Sheffield. Turkish tea is great as well.

Food was amazing and very fast service. It was a very cold environment, had to keep a scarf on and many other people kept their coats on. The entrance door was permanently open so didn't help. Will go back but in the summer.

Three of us in Sheffield for the day. Found Istanbul by chance at lunchtime. We enjoyed all our meals - soup, chicken shish and Turkish breakfast. Bread was good too. Friendly waitress. Prices good. Would go back again

This food is spectacular but made my belly bigger the food is a delicacy the food I would recommend is the mixed kebab and the prices were sent from god by being very cheep and nice.

Casual night out, called in for late night snack, although busy staff attentive served quickly and food served of the highest quality.

The waiters misunderstood my order, even though I clarified my order to be the menu at the front of the door! The waiters just say yes yes and keep pretending to understand your order. Incompetent staff

Great fan of food here. Great service and atmosphere. Lovely staff. They have two different menus for lunch and dinner. The dinner was a bit expensive for me. Always preferred to go here for lunch.

As a Turkish person, i can honestly say that I had my best chicken and lamb shawarma in this shop. Chili and garlic sauce was also very good. Price is fair and service is friendly. All the best.

Came here today for the 1st time and I absolutely loved it. All the staff were extremely friendly and very respectful especially the manager Marya. She was so welcoming and helpful. The food was excellent and portions were good sized. Really enjoyed every bite of the meal and desserts. Tea was complimentary as it was our first visit. Lovely atmosphere and nice cosy place for a full meal or a snack if you want. My children who are uni students in Sheffield will definitely keep coming back for regular meal deals. Whenever I'm in town visiting my kids, I will be definitely be coming back for my meal. Highly recommend this place. 5*****. A big thank you to all the staff at Istanbul Restaurant. West street. 😊

Excellent Restaurant. Food was good . Portions a bit small . Service was excellent. Would go back again when I'm in the area .

What I hate about this place is that they generally serve drunk people . They short change you every time thinking that you are too drunk to notice. Their menu might as well say everything 10 pound cos you get no change when it's actually 9 pound. I work very hard for my money and dislike the fact that you take advantage of me.

You need to come with an elasticated waistband! Fantastic food, reasonable price, massive portions. Knocked 1 star down on atmosphere because it was cold with people coming in & out of the takeaway. If I was local this would be a regular place for me

Visited this place some years ago when in Sheffield for a gig and I was delighted to find it again whilst here on business. The food is delicious. I have never tasted bread like the one they serve with the houmous...it is divine. The meat is deliciously fresh and beautifully cooked. Portions generous. Turkish red wine is sublime!

Friendly, good food, reasonably priced and open until gone 3am... Loads of staff and quick service.

The food is great here! We used to love coming here for the great food and it was very cheap. The restaurant has gotten more fancy recently which has reflected in the prices. It is still reasonable though. We often get the Istanbul mixed special (pictured) which is a starter of mixed cold meze and then a sharing platter with meats chips and rice with salad. Would recommend! We have also had the meal for two, which is also great value.

Popped in on my my home from a night out and what a delight/ Chicken wrap with all the accompaniment Plus a complimentary piece of baklava ; which was amazing. I left to take a taxi, solo -female and a lovely guy from the shop checked that I’d got in okay. I wish I’d have taken him name to to say thank you ! Fabulous food and hospitality !!!

Came here on 19/09/23 in a very deserted restaurant; seated by the window. Found what I wanted to order - a lamb casserole and friend had a vegetarian casserole. Accompanied by a starter of olives which came with third size of Turkish bread cut up. The olives had no oil in the dish, so having it with a bit of bread was rather dry too. The mains arrived, and to my astonishment found that the rice portion was so small, only a baby would manage this (3tbsp domed shape ) but to make things absolutely worse, it didn't come with any bread nor pickled veg. In all my experiences eating Turkish food, these are what is usually accompanied to any main meal in a restaurant. I ask for these from a waiter and they replied they don't have it with the meal. I paid £13.90 for this (casserole was meant to be mixed veg, but got peppers and a bit of onion - okayish, nothing to write home about - it was made to look bigger as it was served in a ceramic dish atop the plate. The salad wasn't dressed and was bigger than the rice! Asked for tap water, but got given £2 bottled water without given a glass for it. For £36 it was an expensive mistake. I will not visit again. I'm sure the other restaurants will serve their mains with bread and pickles, and the rice will be a lot bigger!

Decent Turkish food, opens till late.

I don’t usually go out at night. Had a craving for lamb chops at 23:00 and this was the only halal restaurant nearby that was still open. Lovely service from the waiter. 100/10 for her. 🙂 Delicious garlic sauce. Big portions. Absolutely loved their complimentary bread and olives but their lamb chops were disappointing. Quality was ok but they were not grilled properly. They looked as if they were boiled and put on the grill for 1 minute. They had no seasoning at all either. Maybe because I arrived near closing time and the chef was in a rush, I don’t know but that’s not an excuse. You either do something perfectly or don’t do it at all. Personally I don’t do half jobs. I’m all in or all out.

I am sorry but I had a very bad experience with Istanbul and will never walk in there again not because of their food but for the way some staff will treat you and talk to you, some staff are very rudely talk to you and ignore you. I tried their grilled food and it was everage but the prices they charge you are 4 star restaurants rate, their customer service is rubbish, their portions are under portions. I went into this place for someone's recommendation but I will not recommend any of my Family or Friends to go there.

The food is so good it left me speechless, literally the best restaurant in all of Sheffield. The garlic sauce was to die for, I always come specifically for the sauce and it never disappoints. I’ve tried almost every dish and not one is bad. The waitress, Mariam, was so kind it felt like talking to a friend and despite the place being crowded, she’d still make time to chat and make you feel welcomed.

This restaurant is absolutely terrible. The food is absolutely disgusting and not nice. I would say 0 out of 10 I wouldn’t recommend for anybody to visit this place because it’s just a waste of money. The staff are Turkish and I understand some of the language and I could hear them swearing. also, the staff are rude and not polite. We could see them, after they collected the money which were in cash form to be more clear coins, and we know that coins go hand to hand, they are really dirty they don’t wash their hands before starting to prepare the food. We found hair in the food and the food was freezing. I think the food was cooked before and they just warmed it up in the microwave. I think that the food is not freshly cooked. The salad and the rice were disgusting as well. The Adana kebab wasn’t nice too I don’t have words to describe this terrible place. I’ve ordered from this place as well and the food was the same. Even if you order for delivery or you visit the place physically doesn’t matter they just don’t bother.

Terrible customer service, me and my friend paid over £25 and were asked to leave in a really abrupt and rude way. We were told to leave the table when literally all the restaurant was empty. That was a terrible experience for us and the food was not even that good. Grilled stuff are ok but all the rest are bought ready made and sometimes even taken out of tin possibly from the super market. I would not recommend it to anyone.

Visited with my daughter and we were made very welcome. We shared the hot mezze and cold mezze. Great value for money and really tasty food.

The restaurant layout was inviting, I liked the unique pictures on the wall and I especially loved the rustique decor. I ordered a halloumi wrap with rice. The meal was just the right portion and tasted wonderful, so fresh tasting. Our server was so pleasant and was on hand with everything we needed. If you want a nice Turkish meal in Sheffield, visit Istanbul you won’t be disappointed. Istanbul also do a takeaway option too so on your next night out in Sheffield why not pay a visit to Istanbul, you know you want too.

A favorite place to go when I'm in Sheffield. Tasty and plentiful food always fresh and wonderful service from the ladies in the restaurant section. Thoroughly quaffable carafe of wine too! Highly recommended.

Me and my husband visited on a busy Saturday night staff were all welcoming and friendly.We opted for the meal for 2 which had a selection of hot and cold starters then a mixed meat main with rice salad and chips with baklava for desert.we also had half a liter of rose wine.All the food was absolutely beautiful the meat was cooked to perfection and would definitely recommend the bill was £43 which I thought was great value and will definitely be going back.

This is not a fine dining experience by any stretch, however it is one of my favourite places to go, especially for a mid week meal. Everything I’ve had has been tlovely and it’s good value for money.

Was about half ten, coming home from tramlines and we were all starving and it’s the best lamb kebab wrap I’ve ever had.

You’ll be satisfied with the choice of kebab, pizza and usual fare. Lovely friendly staff, with good memories which is a bonus in this job. No thrills waiting room but what do you want? Kebab? You’ll be reet then.

Had the set meal for two. The food was prepared fresh and on a rainy Sunday night in Sheffield transpired us to the Turkish sunshine. One of the finest meals I’ve had. The baklava was stunning- not too sweet and with a coffee was the perfect way to finish the meal. Will definitely be back.

Realmente disfrutamos nuestra comida en Estambul, Sheffield. Mi esposa y yo tuvimos la comida para 2 con una botella de vino tinto.Buen pan y tres salsas variadas para comenzar. Calamares, chorizo Sucuk, Whitebait Barek y ensalada para el segundo plato. Chuletas de cordero, alitas de pollo, shish de cordero y pollo con arroz y papas fritas para el principal y hermoso Baklava para el desierto. Todo abundante y bien servido, el personal es realmente agradable y servicial. El vino era genial y tenía mucha necesidad de preparar una gran fiesta.  42 para que todo valga la pena para una comida encantadora en un entorno limpio y realmente auténtico y volveremos muy pronto. ¡Muy recomendable! ! !

No he estado aquí durante más de un año, nada cambia, muy ocupado, lugar genial kebabs. Era la hora del almuerzo muy pronto, no una mesa libre, este lugar está muy ocupado, pero pedimos y la comida estaba aquí en muy poco tiempo. El kebab es tan sabroso que es tan bueno como en Turquía, el servicio es bueno, el personal aquí es realmente agradable. Definitivamente no lo dejaremos hacer mucho la próxima vez.

Straightforward tasty grilled meats, fresh salads and delicious, varied starters. If you like this type of food, you'll really enjoy it here. Unfussy setting and decor, and friendly pleasant service. Only sat in (on many occasions) but note there's also a takeaway. It's about the food and relaxed atmosphere here.

Really nice food with high quality of service and friendly staff members that support you with your food choices and understand your taste. One of the best traditional Turkish dishes is sarma beyti.

I always visit this restaurant whenever my dad and I crave for Turkish food. The food is delicious and the service is always bar none outstanding. Great atmosphere and beautiful murals. I love listening to the Turkish music because it always makes me feel like I am actually there, as do the paintings. The restaurant is always immaculate and they provide a courtesy treat after your bill (either a lokum or a Bakalava. I wish they could extend this restaurant or move it to another location in town as I feel that it would equally be successful there too. Having said that, I do enjoy watching the view by the window. What is more is that because some of the waiters are native Turkish speakers, I feel that I can confidently order in basic Turkish, having learnt it from them. Long may their success continue. It's been almost 8 years that I am in Sheffield, Istanbul Restaurant has been one of my perpetual restaurant choice when it comes to Turkish food. With the delicious food and the traditional environment, I always felt satisfied and welcome. Last time I was there, I had lamb chop. It was more than enough for me with quality serving and portion; an excellent value for money meal. To those who are looking forward to try the restaurant, I am sure you wouldn't be disappointed.

Called here with my son after z local match. Food never disappoints and the staff are always cheerful. I had 6 lamb ribs with salad which I believe was about £7.50. Great salad as always lamb a little tough but very tasty. Even got to sit down for that price as there are about seats for probably 12 people if your just popping in for a re-fuel then back on the town. Excellent value for money.

I believe that this restaurant had been in Sheffield for decades but had changed it's name and location. Nonetheless, the food are still just as good and the price is kept affordable so that students from the nearby Sheffield University could still afford it. Thank you, thank you very much...I was a student here once and I'm so grateful to them.

Went with a friend for a dinner. Had chicken wings, chicken Doner, salad, and Sigara Boregi. All food that we had tasted nice and was well-cooked. It is perfect food for a friendly price and portions are huge! For drinks we had Turkish tea and my friend had coffee. Both tasted nice and coffee had also latte art on it. There were one female and two male staff. Although the restaurant was busy at the time we visited, the staff greeted us with smile and was lovely and helpful during our stay there. Would definitely recommend the place to everyone.

We have eaten here numerous times, both lunch and evening. With prices half that of other Turkish restaurants it really is good value. The meze is amazing. For lunch we both had chicken shish, rice and salad. The chicken was succulent, the rice fragrant and the salad crisp. The side bread was fresh and tasty. There is more than enough food for lunch and despite being busy we were served and eating within 10 minutes of entering. Keep doing what you are doing guys and ignore the bad reviews! Thank you.
