We had a platter for three and it was good, fresh salad and good food

Today had a visit with my friends in Istanbul Restaurant Sheldon that offers a vibrate taste with its authentic menu. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with intricate Turkish decor and friendly and swift service that makes you feel right at home. Prices are reasonable for the quality and portion sizes, making it a great value for an immersive culinary experience. Whether you're new to Turkish cuisine or a seasoned aficionado, Istanbul Restaurant Sheldon is a must-visit for a delicious, amazing and satisfying meal. Would love to come again and recommend othere too. Keep it up guys👍

Food was excellent, service was good, atmosphere wasn't bad per se, in fact I reminded me of my times at restaurants in Turkey with the music played and all, just the sound was a bit loud considering it is a family restaurant. Still, will come back.

Food always nice and flavoursome, The only issue was that some of the food was out of stock and some of the staff were very rude when we asked for items such as cutlery or glasses.

been a bit skeptical bc of a few bad reviews. i ordered it for collection whilst i was shopping at morrisons across the road. it was prepared in less than 15 minutes & i got a phone call to remind me to collect my order. everything tasted beautifully fresh. a lot of people trying turkish cuisine complain of the lack of spices, but you honestly don’t need your tongue on fire for something to taste good. the herbs and flavours used in the lamb casserole were so rich and flavourful, the rice was cooked perfectly and so was the bread. would for sure eat from here again!!!

Nice place shame about the takeaway lamb chops marinated in sand I think sausage x4 that's one of them lol looks like one cut so thin into 4 to me give them a swerve. That sausage was one of the 4 slices that cost over £5 really 😑 and the lamb was inedible.

Took at bit long to prepare the takeaway, but that was a Friday evening, so they were very busy

1st time going for a family birthday meal and I was very impressed , food was lovely and very reasonably priced , will def go again

Best Turkish restaurant in the area! Top food and service!

I've been to this restaurant many times and the food has always been excellent, but this time I felt let down. There was no lamb doner and we were told that we would be compensated with extra chicken doner, this was not the case. The lamb kofte kebab tasted off. Sadly, I don't think I'll be returning as there are other place that offer better food for the same money.

I ordered lamb sheesh wrap which was very tasty and filling by itself. Chips were very good too. Definitely recommend 👌

Went in for two take away doners at 7pm on Saturday night, told out of lamb when could see it. Went to chippy next door. Felt really unwelcome

This restaurant seems can be paid by cash only. Their food quality is really good, except the dessert is abit too sweet to me. Most of the Kebab restaurants would be full of oily smells at the ambient but they get a really good ventilation here therefore you need not to worry about getting unpleasant smell on your clothes after meal.

Food was not bad but most horrible service and atmosphere. Tables are all attached to each other and waitresses stand chatting on one corner without any concern about customers. Never going again

So I headed to Birmingham to see a friend for the day. Thought I’d try some Turkish, Lebanese, Mediterranean, and found this spot! What a lovely place to meet and eat good food. My only issue was that it is dark and needs a little love. New decor to brighten the place up, would tempt more people to attend. I had a mix grill for one which me and my friend shared. The meat was tender, the lamb donor had flavour, chicken was good. Not a shish kebab fan, so don’t want to mark down. Didn’t try it. The ribs were soft. The rice cooked nicely The humus with lamb!!! You have to try this! Love it!! The staff are kind and lovely! Doesn’t take card only cash! Annoying when ur fighting to pay the bill 🫣

Really nice spot for shawarma. Opted for the mix shawarma with chips, good price for a big portion. Came with Turkish bread, salad and sauces separately which I didn’t even ask for. Very nice people working there, even showed me the prices on the till to say they charging me the right price. Shawarma was freshly cut in front of you, very tasty, no hard bits as some places have them. Bread was very nice, first time trying it, fresh salad and tasty sauces.

The person manning the grill consistently displays a lack of enthusiasm and manners. Their responses exude arrogance, creating an unfortunate customer experience. During my latest visit, I received burnt and leftover fries alongside my order. If you come across the individual depicted in the photo, it might be wise to reconsider. Unfortunately, the overall service quality appears to be overlooked!! DO NOT EAT IN WITH CHILDREN! The staff are very ignorant and don’t even respond after calling several times. We were given a warning of being chucked out only because our toddler was walking between our 2 tables. Water and glasses are very limited, we were given 4 glasses and 2 bottles of water to share between 13 people. We ordered multiple platters, the food was ok but some did the kebabs were overcooked and hard. It was definitely overpriced and definitely not worth a second visit. Definitely not a place for families or young children. Very rude staff.

Love this restaurant! The atmosphere is always great along with the service, food is always bang on. Love the little starters they give for free - bread and dips. Always so fresh. We got sjuck for starters which aren’t bad and for mains we got chicken Iskender. We wanted a mix of chicken and meat but meat ran out which was quite sad! But chicken was just as good! Fresh salad served alongside and also a choice of chips or rice. Would recommend to try the food deffo. We tend to get takeaway and are never disappointed tbh but sitting it everything’s extra warm and yummy! Also order early and go maybe before 7pm as the sharwama tends to be gone by 8/9pm!

Went early sunday Ordered mix kebab for one £17 Plus drink and Turkish tea. Worked out to £20 per head. Only downside is cash only Food was excellent, service was excellent. Highly recommended.

Excellent food, especially the garlic prawns. FYI they don't serve alcohol but the waiter said we could buy a bottle and bring it in with no corkage fee. They also only took cash when we went. One of the cooks was really lovely and gave my toddler a mini magnum when we were watching them cook on the grill. No baby changing facilities forget anyone who needs it but many families with babies were there and it was very busy on a weekday by 7:30pm.

Disappointingly told to leave because customers were waiting for our table. Odd when most other tables were in fact empty!!

Asked for dips and the guy told me there's sauce in wrap, then immediately said it's a charge for the dips separately like I didn't have the money and ended up losing a customer just because he tried charge me for a dip that costs nothing. + What business doesn't accept card.

The finest place for lovely Turkish food. The chicken and lamb shwarma has a lively taste and well cooked. The chicken skewers were really nice and the naan bread with the sauces they give tastes lovely.

Ordered the platter for 2. Everything was very tasty and fresh The lamb donner is especially delicious and the service was great and welcoming.

Although this wasn't my first visit, but this was the first time I went there with a large group of 35+ people. Saturday evening, the restaurant was packed. Food was served on time, but couple of items were a little bit under cooked. It was a hot summer evening. The air conditions weren't working - so I can't say it was a very relaxing experience.

Firstly I would like to say what a nice atmosphere, good table service and a nice variety of fresh grilled food and shwarma. Healthy so really enjoyed it so would recommend still

The food is really good and we were given complimentary Turkish tea while we waited for our order the cost is more than some other place but the food is such good quality it's worth the extra few £ it might cost but it's still very reasonable double 👍👍

22:26pm and they say kitchen it's close and the kitchen should be close at 23:00. We drived for over 30 min. Waste of time and the way the manager talked to us make us feel like we are not welcome. Shame and disgraceful customer service.

I was attending an exhibition at the NEC today and looked online for something fairly local and stumbled upon this place. The food was fresh, service was fast and efficient, and the quality was amazing. The portion sizes were generous, and complimentary bread, salad and sauces were provided which were delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you’re looking for somewhere to eat after attending the NEC. There is a big Morrisons and M&S food hall directly opposite with plenty of free parking as well. I would not hesitate to come back when attending the NEC in future.

Came here bc of all the good reviews, had a terrible meal unfortunately. Husband got the lamb moussaka....was oily and bland. I had the king prawn stew - no king prawns to be found just the normal small ones, and the seafood was way way overcooked and literally inedible. I spoke to the staff and explained, and swapped it out for ribs. The ribs tasted fine but they were small with barely any meat on them. The bulgur was also oily and generally not great. Unfortunately we won't be coming back here after terrible food.

If I could rate the food alone I would give it 10/10 because the food is amazing and honestly worth the price. The only issue that lets this place down is the customer service, it’s absolutely appalling! You get ignored most of the time when asking for anything extra, the staff just walk pass you even though they can see and hear you calling out. I disagree with the ‘only cash policy’ it’s quite difficult to find a cash point with money in it. Would I go back? It’s a no.

A nice clean restaurant with friendly staff and generally nice atmosphere. The food takes some time to be served but plenty of complimentary bread and dips while we wait. The food itself is quite nice, portions are very large and filling. Prices are around average for this kind of restaurant.

Large portions, great customer service, sadly couldn’t try the Lahmacun, however would have expected good things. Highly recommend 👍

First time eating here...food was absolutely 💯 👌. From the cold mezes to the grilled selections. Food was fresh and delicious. It was very busy and a little tight spaced so felt a little uncomfortable so close to everyone, but the food totally made up for it.

Fantastic thanks, even done a happy birthday cake and candle with "happy birthday " song. The portion sizes are immense!! All cooked fresh in front of your eyes. Very nice.

I'm quite a fan of Turkish cuisine so thought I'd try this place again. Clean, friendly staff and quick service. It's actually better than before! I had chicken shish and Adana Kofte with rice. Both meats were cooked well and flavourful just what you want. Rice was simple but just right. Enjoyed the meal. Costs £11.45.

Can't fault the food, the platter was excellent. The prices are a bit on the expensive side, especially compared to other Turkish places. The seating isn't great for groups of over 6-8 ish. The worst thing and probably the main reason I won't return was the 'cash only' policy. We spent £250 as a group and they wouldn't take card which is ridiculous!

Food was excellent with huge portions , staff were very friendly. Just a word of caution for those that like an alcoholic drink with their meal - the restaurant is not licensed and does not allow you to bring your own alcohol but to be honest, you need to save as much room as possible for the delicious food, especially the bread!

This place was not too bad. The food was not too bad but was too over-priced. I mean who pays £10 for 4 drinks! Its ridiculous! Food is also a little overpriced about a standard meal for 2 for £32. That means with the drinks you'd pay £37 for a good meal for 2. Don't recommend this restaurant as it is too overpriced.

Pathetic food worst customer service we came here from London to eat they charged us 46 pounds .I forgot to take the pic what was the quality of food I like Turkish food but after eating this food I will not recommend anyone to eat in this restaurant .

Visited here on a Friday afternoon, it was relatively quiet and only a few other patrons in the establishment. The service was quick, efficient and professional. We ordered a hummus and a couple of mains. We were first served complimentary fresh and hot Turkish bread with a couple of different sauces. Hummus arrived promptly and had a good texture and the freshly baked bread went fantastically well with the hummus. Shortly after both mains were set on the table and any extra plates were removed. I ordered a lamb sheesh with rice. The lamb was succulent and tasty, however the rice wasn't great, seemed quite soggy and definitely not the kind of rice I'm accustomed to from Turkish restaurants. Other than that, the salad was fresh and the portion size was good. My friend who was dining with me had ordered a chicken sheesh with chips. I must say the chips were brilliant and I should have ordered the chips instead of rice. Overall a good experience and the price is reasonable compared to places in and around London. I am not sure how they compare to other places in and around Birmingham.
