An amazing cafe with amazing food and staff, our go to place for lunch, can't recommend enough. The food is super and made with local ingredients, homemade baking and ice cream is second to none. Be sure to visit and even if your not staying on Lismore the ferry trip from Oban is worth it.

We crossed to Lismore from Port Appin and walked along the quiet lane, enjoying the scenery, little thinking that we would find a café which we did - and it was open even though it was a Sunday! We had just ordered coffee and cakes when the island suffered from a power cut, but the lovely staff carried on as best they could until power was restored about 10 minute later. The service was excellent and the Café has a lovely large decked area for outdoor eating with great views. There is a small gift shop inside the same building with a great selection of locally made items. The Heritage Centre is also well worth a look - lots of interesting information about Lismore. It's about an hour's walk to and from the passenger ferry to and from Port Appin and a small car park.

Lismore is a charming, quiet island and a wonderful place for a break. There is one store and post office, and then in the middle of the island, the cafe, providing a sanctuary of cheer, good food and company on even the rainiest of days. Its manned by volunteers for the small museum and library, gift shop, but the action, sich that it is, centres on the cafe, which is a local meeting point as well as a destination for hikers from the ferry. The chef Dan and Babs seem to keep the whole cafe ticking over and the french onion soup is to die for! Well ANY of the soups are excellent! Please visit and support the community, and enjoy the scenery along the way.

Wonderful community centre with a cafe and a small local museum displaying the history of Lismore from the Stone Age until today with main emphasis on life on the isle and emigration in the 19th century. The cafe serves freshly prepared food based on local produce where possible. The home-baked lemon and blueberry cake was really fresh and very delicious. The isle of Lismore is worth a visit at least as a daytrip, and a visit to this heritage centre is not to be missed for background information and local history. The staff is very welcoming and knowledgeable. There is no entrance fee to the heritage centre, but donations are encouraged for obvious reasons.

We visited a few times on our short visit to Lismore. The cafe is excellent, good food, friendly staff. The heritage centre sells books, gifts and has a wealth of information about the history of the island.

Visited this lovely place with 18 members of our walking group. What a wonderful experience on a dismal day although we did enjoy our walk. We were thoroughly entertained by Katie and even enjoyed her 'sconey biscuits' !! Lots of yummy cakes too.

During a wee tour around the island, I found this cafe. I was in need of some water, and I was going to get a bottle for my dog aswell. I entered, and then was charged ÂŁ5.90 for two bottles of water. I was thirsty enough to take it but really very expensive.

We had a lovely walk on the breathtakingly beautiful island of Lismore today. Half way round we discovered a fabulous cafe with lovely home made raspberry scones and great coffee. An oasis in the middle of an almost deserted island. Lovely friendly staff and a very interesting heritage centre. Thank you

A lovely building in a stunning location with fantastic views. The food was fresh and tasty, but a little pricey. We would have been happy with just a sandwich or bowl of soup after our walk from the ferry stop, but the nearest thing to it was an "open sandwich" which was really a huge plate of cheese and salad and a couple of slices of bread. The cakes looked nice, but we were too full to eat them after the salad. Had the first course been smaller and cheaper we would have bought cakes as well. A nice lady brought our dog a bowl of water, but the people serving could have been a little friendlier. It's a shame because it has the makings of being something really special.

Fantastic location, beautiful and tasteful building... but that's about it. The café's leaflet advertises vegetarian and vegan meals available. I ended up with a cheese sandwich. Nothing on the main menu that vegans could eat - just the parsnip soup of the specials board. Speaking of which.... they also advertise that gluten free meals are available. Asked about the soup, and was told "I think so". Not much use for any coeliacs requiring certainty. Also asked about the goat's cheese salad from the specials board, wanting to know what was actually in it. "Goat's cheese and salad" was the helpful answer. Didn't like to risk it in case the salad was just a lettuce leaf (and at over £8, that wouldn't have been funny). Also worth noting - two of the main meals (scampi and lasagne) weren't available. And they could manage to offer three varieties of meat burger, but apparently keeping a veggie burger or two on standby in the freezer was too much effort. For a place that specifically advertises itself as catering for a wide range of diets, this place was a sadly disappointing shambles. While the staff were pleasant enough, they didn't seem to have a clue. Very sorry to have to write such a negative review, but I feel it's fair and accurate. I'll now go and make the donation that I'm expected to make for using the WiFi. For anyone in any doubt about the menu, I'll upload a photograph to illustrate the lack of dietary options.

When open (it has now closed permanently); it was a great wee eating house! We went there often. It will be sadly missed, used by many locals, tourists and organisations as an affordable restaurant.

Visited to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The setting on the shore of Loch Fyne overlooking the ruin of Castle Lachlan is stunning and we were able to enjoy a bottle of fizz outside our shepherds huts where we would be spending the night. After a late afternoon stroll to the castle ruins we were ready for our dinner. The tasting menu served in the evening is locally sourced and is probably the best I have ever tasted. We chose the wine pairing which was excellent and presented beautifully. After a great nights sleep breakfast is delivered to your accommodation and this is another delight. Cannot fault this place

I call it Debbie's place - you'll know it when you see it! - said several of the locals on Islay. A large group of us visiting the island had spent the morning dotted across it doing various different activities. I'd asked in the brilliant Islay Natural History Trust where locally we could grab lunch and was directed to the Bruichladdich Mini Market. The place itself is run by Debbie, her mum and her sister. It's the ort of place that is the lifeblood of islands the world over - half grocery shop, half cafe - all welcoming. Debbie's sister was in charge when a group of 15 of us rocked up unannounced. This would normally not have been a problem - plenty of outside seating - but that particular day the ferry had been cancelled, along with much of the stock for the shop and cafe. Undeterred the staff there made us feel welcome and pulled together a lunch which went down very well with all - children and adults alike. Think sandwiches and toasties with great coffee and a good choice of cold drinks. They also serve some amazing cakes - I'm told the rocky road was fab, I know the chocolate cake was! Although initially under pressure when we all turned up, the staff seated us happily and we had all eaten within about 15 minutes of arriving.

Had the black pudding toastie. Hardly any black pudding in it. Cost over ÂŁ8. Totally not worth the money. Had lovely food here before, so was very disappointed this time.
