Breakfast bagel was amazing. Great music and trendy decor. They allow dogs too which is a massive bonus to us. Always looking for good spots around here as our daughter lives nearby. This place is a gem and we’ll be back on our next London trip

I went yesterday with a friend. The food was really good and the staff were fantastic. I then recommended it to another group of friends tonight. We had a nice meal until two men came with a massive speaker - set it up literally one foot from our table and kept blasting horrendous music in intervals and laughing at how their speaker was too loud. The music didn’t fit with the atmosphere, it was entirely too loud for the small space and two tables left because of them. We will never go again on a Friday because it was impossible to have a conversation, the “DJs” were not appropriate and the entire ambiance was ruined. I really wanted to write a good review because the establishment itself is great - their “entertainment” was torture and 100% missed the mark. I would recommend it - just not when the ear piercing, deafening “DJs” show up.

Don't come here if you're planning on doing Dry January, the cocktails are absolutely delicious and too hard to resist! Incredible community feel, lovely staff, great music and always handling any issues in the upmost professional manner! We Love Isla!

Not really the most relaxing way to enjoy a quick coffee, especially when they moved him from the table he was sitting at to make way for new customers and he decided to come and sit at our table uninvited instead. Although, gotta hand it to the guy I’d rather be indoors asking for cash instead of outside in the rain and if the staff aren’t going to do anything about it I’d have just stayed too. Mainly 1* for the surprised pikachu face of the waitress when we decided to leave rather than be pan handled while trying to have a drink. Like, yeah, duh. Worked in hospitality, if you want to help him that’s great, give him some food or cash, treat him kindly, but don’t just ignore it like it’s not a thing. It is a thing.

3 friends having lunch. This place is in the really busy Deptford Market and there's lots of competition for places to eat. But it stood out and I was glad we chose to eat here. We had our 3 little (and very well behaved) dogs with us and they were welcome too. Sitting at a little table near to the back we ordered hot drinks and toasted sandwiches. Really tasty. The drinks and food are not quick to arrive, but this is the pace of the place and the atmosphere is a bit quirky too. A place for families and singletons. All seemed to be here. Delicious food, one friend is a coffee ofeicionardo and she was delighted with hers. Clean, nicely decorated for Xmas and friendly waiting staff. We will return and thank you Isla Ray for a lovely hour spent at your place.

Buen café, pero es a mediados de enero y la puerta está abierta y la calefacción está apagada. Se sentó en abrigos y se fue para ir a un lugar más cálido. También la música era un poco ruidosa para tener una conversación.

For me, as lovely as the staff are, it's not a great restaurant. It's very outdated, and it needs a massive revamp and a massive clean. It could be a wonderful place to get food, but it needs a proper in-depth. Makeover, clean new menu end more customer Focused.Unfortunately the restaurant is stuck in the 80s at the moment I do hope this restaurant gets a proper revamp before it's too late and we lose a great place in the community

Restaurant dirty and run down. Food terrible, pie undercooked underneath and over ooked on top. Pastry like leather, meat scarce and tasteless. Gravy bland and watery.

Having just experienced a masterclass in bad service, I was moved to write a first-ever restaurant review. My wife and I walked in mid-afternoon without a booking on the off-chance there'd be an available table. After checking, the maitre d confirmed no tables inside - fair enough - but that we could eat outside unless we wanted to wait until 6pm to eat. Outside we went and sat in a heated booth with a reserved sign. The server then told us we would need to move but couldn't confirm what time the booth booking was due, and all the other reserved signs were just there to help manage walk-ins. Odd way to handle it, but no problem - we moved to a non-booth table and the server kindly moved a patio heater for us, took our order for a roast each and placed our cutlery on the table. He then returned to tell us that in fact there was no food available. As in, no honouring of our order, no starters available, no food at all. On questioning he said it was because they needed to 'protect advance bookings'. No answer to what would've happened had we waited until the 6pm table; seemingly no solution for walk-ins whatsoever. So we ordered a cold sausage roll bar snack. And then the cherry on the service cake - the poor server was sent out by his maitre d to collect our cutlery. No attempt by the maitre d to apologise, make any attempt to explain, comp the cold sausage rolls or offer us a round of drinks. If we'd been told at the beginning there was no food available, we would've understood and left without spending money on a round of drinks (and the cold sausage rolls). It will take quite something to convince us to return. To the owners of The Talbot - you've done a lovely job on the renovation, your food looks great, and you've created a great vibe. But your customers are your lifeblood and your people are your key strength and you seem to have forgotten both those essential points.
