Really exceptional food and service - rare to have a long conversation with staff !

Isan Thai is a really nice place to eat. Opposite the norteast gates of Poole Park, it's welcoming with an easy and comfortable atmosphere. Authentic Thai cuisine, I know as I worked in Thailand, I recommend this venue to anyone with a taste for Asian cuisine. You can choose between mild (the ability to taste the spices) and blow your head off (reserved for those with no feelings) main courses.

the food was really good I had hot tom yum soup (hot) for starters it was lovely but very hot! Green Thai curry for main course.....I asked for medium.... I'm glad I did as the hot flavour of the soup was still hanging around. medium was very tasty. A beer for both of us. it cost £73 which I thought was more expensive than any other Thai restaurant but I can't complain about the service and food. I will go again and try something different next time.

Our club group of 14 really enjoyed the excellent food and service, and appreciated the attention to detail for those with specific dietary needs. Easy communication to book the table too. Would definitely go back if we're in Poole again.

Isan is consistently excellent. Friendly service. Authentic food which is always good. Have been coming here for years and get take away frequently. If you haven’t been then get it booked in or ordered!

Isan Thai provided the food for our football team presentation and the food was delicious! The price was very good and the order was ready on time for us to collect. Many of our players have said they will now get their takeaways from Isan Thai as they were so impressed with their meals.

Very disappointed in the taste of our food, saying that the tom yum was like a sour soup, close to spoiling the food we ordered. We could only eat the meat salad, otherwise it didn't pass once and it was finished.

Had a takeaway this evening to celebrate my birthday. Have wanted to try this restaurant out for ages and wish I had done so sooner. Food arrived in no time at all, hot and fresh. Will definitely use again and highly recommend.

I decided on a takeaway, so no comments on the actual restaurant. Delivery was good, well within the hour and a quarter they suggested. However the bag it arrived in had most of the sauce from the curries in. The prawn toast (not cheap) was made from a baguette and was just cold and inedible. Also unfortunately I had ordered the Larb pla sea bass. Usually very good. This time however it was dry and cold, again almost inedible. A couple of pieces of limp lettuce made up this poor dish. It's a shame as my previous visits to the restaurant had always been enjoyable.

We had a lovely meal here. I had the ribs followed by the Red curry which was the best I have ever had. My partner had the crispy chicken followed by the Green curry and she was equally impressed.

So glad I chose this Thai. The food was exceptional. Absolutely delicious. The best coconut rice I have ever tasted, and the Massaman curry was superb. Also great service, lovely staff. Great place.

Absolutely incredible food! Best Thai we have had in Poole and Bournemouth! All cooked fresh and we could choose how spicy or mild we wanted each dish! They have a great lunch time special deal on if you want a real bargain, although we didn't go for this as wanted to try so much on the menu and we had gone for a birthday as a special occassion

We ordered from Isan Thai for a Friday night takeaway last night - it came within 20 minutes and was absolutely delicious. We had duck spring rolls and dim sum to start and then Phad Kapow Chilli beef and Thai red curry with duck and sticky rice for main. Would definitely recommend and will be ordering again soon.

Went to Isan Thai for lunch today and it was excellent. The food was delicious and Phil (front of house) was great fun. We had the lunchtime sit-in offer which was excellent value. The fish cakes had that lovely zing of kaffir lime leaves and an authentic texture, the crispy chicken was super-crispy and came with a classic Thai dipping sauce containing fish sauce, soy, chilli and all sorts of lovely other things (I drank what was remaining so that tells you something!) Mains were green chicken curry and a masaman, both of which were divine with the accompanying jasmine rice. There are lots of really interesting-looking regional Isan (North-Eastern Thailand) specialities on the main menu that I haven’t seen before so we will be coming back regularly in order to try them. Family-run restaurant like this need support if they are to survive in these tough times and Isan Thai is truly deserving of your custom. I have a feeling that you won’t regret it if you eat here!

First time I have ordered from here, wow it was delicious, piping hope and came bang on time. The flavours absolutely superb, I will be ordering from here again.

I've been doing mostly take away since having my daughter but this restaurant is just amazing! the staff are so friendly and the food is authentic Thai as i came with my cousin who lives in Thailand and also went with a friend from Thailand. When i ask for delivery they follow any instructions i put up. I can't thank them enough for supplying delicious food and carefully knocking on our door so as to not wake baby. I recommend them to everyone i know :-) The restaurant itself is clean and you can catch glimpses of them cooking. Restaurant is owned by husband and wife and the wife and i believe the daughter too cook and the husband served us drinks. Lovely place couldn't fault them. Went to the fancy new thai place near the quay and ended up asking my husband to take us to isan thai . Thanks guys x

I am a very fussy eaten and very rarely try new places to eat. The food was absolutely incredible, so much flavour. Will definitely be eating more Thai food from here.

I love this little place it’s just amazing. I visit often but today took my little 3 year old. He absolutely loves the bbq ribs! Lunchtime deal is amazing and such good value. Very good portion sizes and the food is the most authentic Thai food I’ve tasted outside of Thailand. Thank you for being so awesome

Wanted to go for a while , but not had much experience with Asian food so was anxious about it. Myself and my family went and it was a lovely experience , Phil and his wife were wonderful and the food was beautiful, my children also loved the food, which surprised me. Give it a try …. We were very hungry and ordered enough food for 4 people even though it was just me and my partner. The food was amazing and the server was very polite and I can not believe how affordable it all was. We absolutely cant wait to go again

Visited this lovely little restaurant with friends who live in the area. Really quality food and great service. The massaman curry (mild) prawn was one of the best I ever tasted. All the party enjoyed their food. Highly recommended.

We were introduced to Issan Thai a little while ago by some friends. Since then it has been a regular lunch spot for me and my family. The food is always absolutely perfect, they never miss a beat! Food always piping hot and cooked fresh. Fantastic selection on the menu: something for everyone. Very reasonably priced for what you get and they also have fantastic offers on at lunch time. You will not be disappointed.

This restaurant is well run, the staff are friendly and the food is excellent and at a reasonable cost. Importantly for many, they welcome cash along with other forms of payment

So we've been meaning to go here for a while now, and we so happy we did. Food is delicious. We went for the Thai spicy sausage to start, it had a nice spicy kick and is full of flavour. The pad Thai is the best I've outside of Thailand. We can hand on heart recommend this little gem. And to cap it all off service is friendly and attentive.

Had an amazing Thai meal here and can't wait to visit again.

Friendly, welcoming staff and food that’s second to none!

We went as a group of 4 for my mums birthday, we had been told of Isan by friends and they did not disappoint. The food is all cooked fresh and portion size is great, you won't leave unsatisfied! We had the mixed starter, Tom Khao, Pad Thai, Massaman Curry, Sticky Rice and a Pork Stir fry - we were all thrilled with the food. The service is really personal and attentive. Phil and Pornthip get to know their customers and are really approachable and friendly. I am a lover of Thai food and can say this is the freshest most flavoursome in the area and I have recommended to friends already. I'll be returning - hopefully very frequently :-)

The best Thai in Poole / Bournemouth by far! Took my mum here for her birthday, we were a group of 4. The service is personal, attentive and you feel very valued as a customer. The food is the best Thai in Poole, it is all cooked Fresh to order and Phil and Pornthip are brilliant! I've already recommended to my friends and will be returning - hopefully very regularly!

Home delivery,used before. Food was really good and I'm very fussy!!

Food was amazing here the best tempura squid I've ever had! Was a quiet Tuesday night so partner, baby and I had the place to ourselves which was lovely. Owner very welcoming too! Food was a little on the pricier side but as was so nice was worth it.

Just got back from a fantastic dinner at Isan Thai and the food amazing. We had a red curry and a sea bass dish for mains, and crispy chicken and sesame toast for starters. Everything was cooked to perfection and full of flavour. We’d definitely recommend to anyone in the area.

Been getting collection or delivery from Isan Thai for the better part of a decade and have never had a bad meal. The food is always top-notch and it is by far our favourite Thai restaurant in the Poole /Bournemouth area.

This family run business has a wonderful atmosphere and fantastic authentic Thai cuisine.

Worst experience of Thai food ever! Eating here resulted in diarrhoea, stomach cramps and nausea! We shared a salt & pepper crisy squid and then my partner had a phad thai with prawns & I had a phad thai with tofu. We also ordered prik nam pla which is traditional condiment for Thai food, which we regularly have at home with any South Asian dishes we make. We wrote to the owner the next day & we were insulted by his reply, basically blaming us for our choices "I find it difficult to understand why you think our food gave you this reaction, apart from the fact that the chillis you had with your meals and in the prik nam pla have affected you in some way, which is why we do not advertise it as a side." My partner & I have travelled extensively in Thailand, South East Asia & the Indian subcontinent & we are very used to hot & spicy food plus we regularly make Phad Thai at home that is much better than the ones we ate here!! Avoid this place it's not good for your health or your pocket...

We absolutely love this Thai place. Whenever we order takeaway for a group everyone asks where it’s from! Really friendly, good vegan options, and takeaway is always ready on time. We keep coming back!

I was enticed by the Cobra beer on draught, stopped for a pint, ended up having a cheeky takeaway and was blown away, absolutely gorgeous meal, I'll be back to dine in! Don't sleep on this place, fantastic local spot 👌

The best thai takeaway around!!! It is our go to and we often have the same thing, although we’ve tried lots of the menu and everything is delicious. We highly recommend the pad thai and panang curry.

A large group of us had a takeaway from here tonight and we all agreed this is one of the best thai meals we have ever had. Well done Isan Thai.

We had green and yellow curry. Both was absolutely delicious. Unluckily there was a stripe of foil in the yellow curry, this shouldn't happen.

This was an enjoyable meal, I had the red Thai curry which was delicious. When we went they were doing a set lunch menu (although I think that may be discontinued due to prices rising), which made lunch a very reasonable price. In the day time it's not the most scenic view from the restaurant but that only really makes any difference if you happen to sit in a window seat.

We love Isan Thai! I could easily finish my review saying just that! Takeaway is our weekly treat and one night when I don't have to cook. We often order from Isan Thai just because the food is consistently delicious and service always amazing. I am quite confident in saying that I might be addicted to the Massaman Curry and Duck Spring Rolls... Ordering is ever so easy, you can choose if you'd like to pay over the phone or on collection and it is always ready on time. We visited for a proper dinner as well and the service was flawless. We are really glad to find such a gem and can only wish Phil and Pornthip a lot of success in the yeas to come!

Ordered our food an hour and ten mins later we called and lady said would be 10 mins 25 mins later still no food , then manager called back very polite butsaid our order hadn't gone through even though money had left my account, manager took order again which arrived 30 mins later although gave us a free dish bit rice we ordered was wrong and stirfry was very watery , such a shame as always been so good in the past

Went here for the first time today. It’s a fantastic place. Run by a lovely couple, and has a warm and very welcoming atmosphere. Will definitely return!

Great atmosphere, nice and quite. Brilliant selection of beers on tap and really delicious food. The staff there were really friendly and great and meal sizes were perfect. Thai is always a little more expensive but for 2 people it was very reasonably priced. Will 100% be returning as I had a great time. Parking is perfect just across the road at the civic centre.

Excellent service and very friendly. We didn't have a booking but they accommodated us on a Saturday night. The prawn toast was so yummy. Car park opposite had plenty of spaces.

This is a really great thai restaurant. Phil has always made us feel really welcome and the food has always been superb. Can definitely recommend.

Very disappointed. Chicken satay was dry, jungle curry was just sat in a pool of oil as were the ribs. Pad Thai was okay. A waste of £40!!

Takeaway was good. To clarify, following a query from the owner, I said ‘ok’ simply because I had a takeaway (which was good) and can’t comment on the sit-down restaurant experience. I’ve edited the review to be clear this was takeaway.

Majority of the menu is gluten free (but call to check anyway), friendly staff and good portions. Just had an absolutely beautiful chicken thai green curry with sticky rice - gluten and dairy free. Created an account with them, as I think they're my new favourite!

Amazing experience at Isan Thai. The food was exceptional and we had the friendliest waitress ever in Rahala. She looked after us so well and made the evening out all the more memorable and special. Will definitely be back on our next trip!
