First ever visit, excellent service and food!

Given 5 stars . First time I've ordered online, site easy to navigate,booked for 17.15..Service was excellent Fish an chips was ready a couple minutes early.Meal was cooked to perfection excellent 2 pieces of fish and plenty of chips..Team always amaze me how they do so well. Congratulations to you all.. TONY

Chips were not great. I asked for a tiny bit of salt as they were for my 3 year old and they were so salty my hands were covered. My friend said fish was nice. I won’t be going back - overrated place.

The bigggggest !! piece of Rock eel I have ever seen. Fresh and perfectly cooked in a crisp golden scrumptious batter. Chips also perfectly cooked. Ordered by phone for collection and a cheerful thankyou by name when leaving.

National award-winning Fish & Chip shop and deservedly so. Nowhere I know of comes close. The shop is modern, clean and tidy. Full product information is available, including sourcing of fish and how it's caught, batter ingredients, frying medium and allergen details. Fish is fried to order for drop-in customers, or take out in a few minutes if ordered by phone, or on-line. Staff are friendly and efficient.

Not for ne I'm afraid....large battered sausage was absolutely awful , tasted raw, soggy batter...like a piece of rubber ...chips were OK, but I won't be visiting again

Has really gone down hill recently. Had poor quality haddock and rock 2 weeks ago. Tonight we ordered What was supposed to be large haddock and large chips were both medium.chips were cold and batter was soft. Ozzie hasnt been there last 5 weeks snd standard have dropped. Get well soon ozzie but i wont be using this chip shop anymore.

Been using this place for about 4 years . Fish and chips use to be lovely. Had haddock and rock eel 2 weeks ago and the quality was not nice at all. Had large haddock and large chips tonight , the chips were cold and the portion size was like a regular chips , the large haddock was like a medium haddock and batter all soft. So now we wont be using this fish shop any more even though its just around the corner. I will now travel acrros town to nacton rd fish shop which has always been good. Ozzie was good when he was there but as his not about at the moment standards have really dropped.

Said to be the best Fish and Chips place in England, several awards, but we thought it was pricey at over 50 pounds for 4 people, but the portions were too large, I think

Great cod and really good chips, had a lot of poor chips recently but cod fellas chips were exactly as we like them, recommended

Definitely gone downhill big time. Never was 10/10. But it's 3/10 at best. Portions have been cut drastically. And OMG the quality disgusting batter uncooked. Complain at your peril too.

Excellent service. Great food, good value, helpful, professional. We ordered 32 meals then changed the order and location for delivery- Ozzie was helpful and accommodating and fitted in with everything I asked. I will definitely use Codfellas again and recommend to others.

Chips were very hot! Taste as good as anywhere else. I like the upright paper bag used for the chips. Much better than paper.

Called in today for fish and chips x 2 sat in car outside with the wife to eat them.. best so far in 2 years of travelling over uk.. thankyou for a tasty tea. Mark from coventry

Placed a large order (for 14 people) online on bank holiday, food was ready at the time requested, all hot, packed efficiently and with a smile, all family commented on the quality of all the food we ordered , thank you

Seems this place has slipped with service deciding to treat the few as vip and the many get left to wait. Got things that where purposely ready and still waited 30 mins Because others came in and got instant service

I am not a regular customer, about once a month. I called at 6.15 and ordered a large cod and chips, I was told my order would be ready in 15 minutes. I arrived early and paid, lots of regulars came and went, I assumed they were regulars from the banter. Everyone in the shop were served as was everyone who came after me, after 30 minutes of waiting I asked for my money back. Never again.

Food is always cooked fresh and tasty. Ozzie who runs the establishment is such a nice guy who works very hard not just in the shop but also for the community of chantry. And it is undoubtedly the best chippy too.

I have been coming here for years for mine and my grandparent's fish and chips every week! The portion sizes are great. its great value for money. We don't go anywhere else. Can't fault it! It's not just about the fish and chips... The staff are amazing too. I look forward to coming in every week to chat to all the friendly staff! Even when there really busy they still take time to talk to you as much as they can. They make you feel very welcoming! They know me by name and its just the little touches oz and his team have. I've been visiting CodFellas weekly for a number of years and can honestly say I've never had a bad meal or bad service. The staff are always very friendly and helpful even when they are very busy.They know most of there regulars by name. Ordered from this chippy, just this morning after so many recommendations. A lovely lad served me a pensioners cod and chips with a mushy peas and I have to say the batter was cooked to perfection and the chips were so moist and fluffy. Yesterday 22/2/2024 I ordered my large cod, chips and onion rings at 7.35pm, at this time shop was empty and I was waiting 30 min for my order! The boy was so slow, looks like he didn't know how to cook a fish. Then owner came and started cooking onion rings and chips, so my fish was put on the shelf waiting for chips and onion rings. My fish was cold, my onions rings too. Not happy. Over rated shop. What I've seen there was unacceptable! A member of staff -woman, was wearing black gloves while brushing the floor and wiping shelves with cloth. With the same gloves on she was serving other customers including packing food. Then owner came, he was cleaning the equipment with the gloves on and then with the same gloves on he was frying fish. I WILL NEVER BUY FISH AND CHIPS IN THIS SHOP AGAIN

So I've been seeing the battered Halloumi on Facebook and just had to try it for myself, and wow they were delicious! The best I've ever had. Will definitely be back to get more.

Thought I'd give it a try as I've seen the shop while driving past a few times. I stopped by from work about 30min before closing time, 2 gentlemen had just been served before me. The lads at the till were friendly but the lady not so much, as I very quickly scanned the menu, i felt as though I was inconveniencing her so I just ordered the cod and large chips. I think it was around £11. Unfortunately, I didn't get to eat it hot until 40 min later after I got home, but can truly say, the chips were in my opinion not, 'a large portion) but still absolutely gorgeous. The cod was long but quite 'flat', though it was very tasty and I do hope to visit this chip chop again.

my time in ipswich was limited but i can say that, what i took away from the experience, is that Ipswich Codfellas is some of the best food and service i have experience in my short existence on this plant. i salute you, ipswich codfellas

Food was very tasty but I wasn't happy with the service I ordered by phone and was told 15 mins but when I arrived I still had to wait another 45 mins for it when others turned up and ordered over counter and got their food before ours!! Probably won't use Codfellas again..

This was a google maps find, as its located within a close knit community in Ipswich. We were able to download a menu, phone in an order (for 5x adults and 1x child) and then collect our order, approx 30 minutes later The food was hot, well wrapped and very tasty. The fish was fresh and moist. So for us this english fish and chip shop is highly recommended 👍

Shame food is lovely but poor service, what I added up from ordering from the online menu on the website was different to what we got charged. So when I rang to say I’ve been overcharged and what I ordered from the online menu was £21.30 and got charged £25.60. His response was the prices are wrong. Then went on to say that he knew nothing about an online menu and that he knew nothing about a website, so ur telling me u don’t know that you don’t know you have an online menu and website. And he knew nothing well how do you Know the prices are wrong then if you didn’t know there was an online menu? Very poor service.

Ordered x2 chicken deluxe burgers. Couldn’t eat them, the batter was over done and had an awful fishy taste to it. Disappointed as we have heard such good things about this place.

A very caring & attentive place to order from, a real heartbeat of the community. The food and menu all of a high quality (national award winning) and prices reasonable for this day and age. Recommended to a friend in town for a few days and they were really impressed, best chippy tea they've had in years.

The best chippy in Ipswich! Only downside is that it looks like they're bordering very competitive/expensive pricing though, you can get cheaper chippies at a lot lower price in Felixstowe, yet it costs more to live there than it does in Ipswich!

Ordered Large Plaice and chips, when I got home the plaice looked overdone and dry and it was! Horrible price of fish saved slightly by lovely chips!

First time we have been, and it was a very good experience with some solid good hot food. Definitely will return. Have been back loads since my first experience, and now would happily say I would never get fish and chips from anywhere else.

Food used to be top notch and wait times minimal, unfortunately this has been it's demise. Now it's wait time are getting too long (30mins for simple order of pie and chips) and food below average, real shame won't be returning.
