Fish and chips fantastic, how ever phone up and order as not much precooked

The lady who served us was rude, the chips were way too dry (well over priced £5.00 for a large, really?) an very little flavour, the battered sausages were dreadful in quality, I mean the batter was soft an chewy and nothing like the crispy batter you'd expect. The burger we got had hardly any burger meat but loads of batter, and the meat was hardly cooked, I mean it looked pink! none of us could finnish our meals as none of us liked the food at all. I'd honestly say this has got to be the worst chippy food we'd ever had. £20 down the drain, simply horrible. Oh and the gravy was way to watery with no thickness to it.. Won't be going here ever again! I'd score them 0 if that was an option!!

We were v excited after the refurb. Usually the food was great, alas mid November we had soggy chips, fish thin, not crisp batter with no lovely crunch. Yip, batter shouldn't be stretchy and "mushy" peas similar to pea soup. What's happened? So very disappointed

Awful. Placed online order for delivery. Didn't arrive - when I rang they said it was too far to come even though they were charging £3 for the priviledge. Said they had rung me - clearly they hadn't. No apology and rude on phone. Really wouldn't bother again.

Extremely rude owner absolutely disgusting the way she speaks to people Im surprised she even gets customers anymore ...I had been going to the chippy for a few years now but I NOT going anymore after the way she spoke to me today absolutely vile woman

Excellent quality fish and chips, plus lots of other options if you're not into fish. They also do pizza!

Ordered online but food never came. After my first call (when it was 15 minutes late) I was told it was because it was a busy day, but that I should call back in 10 mins and they'll chase the driver. The woman was quite agitated on the call - not very polite. Called back and they told me that they had no idea who the driver was, where he was and had no way of contacting him! They had just given our order to a random Just Eat driver who they didn't know. Waited nearly 70 minutes to find that out. Edit: the Driver who had randomly been given the food, called 1.5 hours after the order should have arrived. I don't blame him - looks like he wasn't given the full address details that were placed on the order, and no contact details for us. He offered to bring us the food, but apart from it being over an hour old by now, our children had to have beans on toast and we're getting ready for bed when he called.

Extremely rude owners/ staff!! The young employee was lovely and helpful. However, the other lady working (who I presume is an owner) is extremely rude with a serious attitude. I Will not be returning as I don’t appreciate being spoken to like that as a paying customer. Very disgusted with the way we have been spoken to.

I had a gluten free fish and chips here a couple of weeks ago and it was amazing definitely would go here for fish and chips if you have a gluten intolerance

A big order was picked up for a volunteer thank you evening, ,it was on time, very hot, and portions were great size.

Lovely Cod and Chips immaculately clean and friendly staff.

Food is 5 star, but after spending over £80 in less than a fortnight on meals from there for my elderly neighbours, due to the female staff/ owners rude attitude I won't be going back. (Try taking a customer service course, and paste a smile now and again)

Even though the food was great the customer service was poor on this occasion Place order for medium tail end of cod and they tried to palm me off with middle cod when I pointed out there mistake they tried to tell me after 20 minutes of waiting that they didn’t have any medium tail end and that I could have a large tail end but expected me to pay the extra as it would take another 20 minutes for the cook to cut down a large to a medium The cook had more than enough time to get the order correct first time but had the audacity to try and say I was in the wrong and tried to charge extra

Absolutely delicious. I've driven past this gem many times but never thought to visit. I decided to check it out this evening as my usual chippy was closed. I'm completely blown away by just how good their fish and chips are. My only regret is I didn't try it out sooner.

We had fish & chips on a Friday night about 8pm, 2 hours before closing. It was OK. We'd read the reviews and hoped for more. Fish had thin batter (good), slightly overcooked not great quality. Chips quite bendy, OK potatoes. Everything was just about.... OK.

Good food and over generous portions.However on a busy evening no other customers wearing face mask and staff also unmasked but working behind screens. Shame as this was our favoured fish and chips shop but will avoid in future.

I’ve had two terrible experiences at this chip shop in the past two weeks, mainly caused by the rude attitude of the sarky owner:Last week, I went to collect lunch after ordering. Unbeknown to me, they added a service charge of 50p and charged me 20p for a plastic bag, of which there was no option of opting out on Just Eat. When I arrived at the chip shop, and waited for 30 mins having WALKED THERE on top of this, I asked for a bag, for which I had paid 20p. The lady behind the counter replied that she didn’t have any bags, but I was not offered a refund. I then walked home carrying all the food stacked up in my arms.Today, I ordered two portions of large chips from the Codfather, having just walked there again. Upon entering, the woman snapped ‘don’t touch the counter’, before I had even opened my mouth. After ordering and paying for the chips, I was told ‘I’ll let you know when they’re ready, please stand outside.’ I stood outside for about 25 minutes waiting for two portions of chips. As I was stood by the window, I kept glancing into the shop to see whether or not they were ready. Every time my eye caught the woman, I was icily glared at! Upon entering (after what felt like multiple millennia) to collect the chips, the woman handed me them, then sarcastically commented ‘do you like watching them get made then?’ This is not the way to talk to a customer, let alone a paying one that has waited nearly half an hour for two portions of chips!I honestly do not know what’s got into her, but I’m unlikely to offer my custom again anytime soon…

Although they do gluten free ,be prepared to spend an extra £1 per item !!! Definitely won't be recommending them ,when the charge extra for people who are celiac ..

A "light lunch" is all you need and if you whinge they will crispy- up your chips.Last time I was there I had a chat with the lady that used to run a local Chinese takeaway, she shared her chips. How circuitous was that?

The most flavourless fish I've ever had. It literally tasted of nothing! My daughter had a frozen battered cod the other day which had more flavour. The curry sauce was pretty naff too. The only reason for the 2 stars was because the Sausages were nice.

Tried this takeaway once again after a few years of boycott. All the reviews suggested to me that quality of the food had improved. No, the quality of the food is very bad - cheap ingredients. However, everything was cooked very well and nicely presented. Zero nutritional value, plus there is an increased chance I will die in my sleep tonight. I guess you get what you pay for.

As a coeliac I've eaten in several places across the country and in all honesty this is without the best chip shop I've ever eaten from..if I could id give it 10 star's I would and I will not be going anywhere else 👍fantastic

We ordered through just eat and I wasn’t sure whether I would get the correct order as I’d ordered gluten free haddock. When it came it was labelled as GF and tasted absolutely amazing! It was also hot and not greasy. Highly recommended. A*

Very rude woman owner. Well she seems to be the owner bossing young workers about. No customer etiquette, rude to customer too. Won't go back there again and even told my friends and family not to go there.

They do Lovely Food but they don’t Deliver to me in IP1 5PS where as I have many other Restaurants who do deliver to me and they are a lot further away. These really need to expand there delivery area and keep up with others in Town

Bang average - okay but not worth going out of your way for. You’ll get the same quality from any other chip shop. I recommend maidenhall chip shop if you’d like a higher standard.

Vegatarian/vegan friendly chips! Yummy, not too greasy. My family enjoyed the fish too. Friendly staff. Serving was a bit slow - but I think that's because the fish was being cooked fresh, which is fine by me!

Well it has to be said we've visited this fish and chip shop takeaway about 6 times and they have never let us down. I myself am gluten free so you can imagine it's quite hard to find a fish and chip shop to cater for you. All they ask is that you ring and give advance notice for gluten free. We tend to ring up earlier on in the day and order for evening. Staff are nice and friendly and polite. Be sure to visit The Codfather whether you are gluten free or not. I highly recommend this establishment/eatery. A big thumbs up 10/10

These guys pride themselves as providing the best cod and fish in Ipswich. After tasting it and eating around town, I can testify that indeed they are the masters. The cod and fish sold here is just simply splendid.

Visited on good Friday. As expected was really busy. But that's just a sign of a good chippy. Friendly service and excellent food
