Det var mye folk og en fin stemming. Te had a tasty snack and a delicious drink. The food came quickly and it tasted great. The perfect place to start the PHD celebration.

The food was okay, the menu didn’t have much choice in my opinion. The sides were quite expensive for a student place so we only got a main. The pizzas were quite nice though, but not a lot of topping. It was very busy and when we went with society groups.

I love this place. Some great meal deals and plenty of options for vegetarians and vegans. Good range of drinks and some nice cakes. Efficient service and friendly staff. Also nice tiered garden in the summer with plenty of seats.

Popped in here to have a look at the real ale selection on a busy Saturday (Open Day) . It takes a considerable amount of navigation to reach this café/bar!! Excellent hot sandwich style eats. Very helpful bar man explained the beer styles they normally have - impressive and very good value indeed.

The best SU I have ever been to. Visited in May 2018 for the beer festival. Struck lucky with it being the warmest weekend of the year. The beer garden is fantastic, the best in Sheffield I'd have said. 5 real ales all sub £3.00 and kept well. Limited food menu but great food and good value. Pizza and a pint for £7.95, can't go wrong. The staff are polite and the toilets are clean. A good crowd and mix of ages. Well recommend.

I am vegetarian and gluten-free, and they excluded the potato wedges from my meal, telling me they have gluten on them, which I did not expect. They gave me an even bigger salad to account for this. The food was delicious AND fit my tricky eating habits. They had live music the night I went, and tons of people were there dancing and enjoying the music. Great place to eat or have a drink and hang out.

The sausage and bacon roll is the best I have ever eaten. The generous filling set me up for the whole day and was such good value for money.

As a student at the university, I love Interval and spend so much time there. It's a café-bar that does brunch on the weekend. They have separate lunch and dinner menus. For lunch they mainly offer a variety of sandwiches and wraps (the meal deals for £4.95 and £5.50 are pricey compared to many in on campus but better quality), though they also do salads and I think pizzas? For dinner, the main item on the menu is pizza, though there are a variety of other meals as well. The meal deal (which currently is just under £8 for a pizza and drink) is fairly good value given the quality of the food. During the day, the hot drinks are really nice. I wish they did a wider variety of non-alcoholic soft drinks though! There are often special events which bring gins, prosecco and international cuisine to the SU. Overall, Interval is one of the nicest places to eat in the SU, has a wide variety of options (especially for veggie, vegan and gluten-free people) and I love it so much. :)

I visited this bustling pizza holy grail on a stormy and downright miserable winters day in need of so serious carby pick-me-up: that is exactly what I found at Interval. I ordered a classic Margarita pizza but unfortunately they ran out of sun roasted tomatoes: no problem! A very apologetic and friendly waitress offered me any other ingredient of the menu instead. I chose jackfruit (being vegetarian), which I hadn't had until that day and it was delicious! Would recommend Interval to any weary traveller in search of some serious comfort food (and drink!).

I visited Interval Bar last month with a group of friends to attend the beer festival. First off the bat, they had not planned their supply for the festival very well: by midday on the third day they had almost completely run out of beer, though there was also cider available. Despite it being mainly a student bar, non-students are welcome, and they have surprisingly capable and friendly staff. The place was also quite clean inside, though it did have that tacky modernist feel present in most student bars. The garden outside is quite nice on a warm afternoon, however. Prices were quite high for Sheffield, though not unbearably so. Still, I would probably not visit again unless for another special event.

A students union bar deserted of students. Half a pint can cost £2, most undergrads will be hoping to be well on their way with the same capital. The tall ceilings make the room echo and unwelcoming. Food is average. Time for a redesign.

Really nice atmosphere, relaxed, and we found it to be enough out of the way so that it wasn't packed, even when rest of uni was very busy. They have a great selection of vegetarian and vegan food. The falafel burger is amazingly tasty! And all the food and drinks are reasonably priced.

Been three times within three weeks, at lunch time & straight from work. Excellent slightly rambling garden area which is unusual in Sheffield. Lots of vegan & vegetarian options. Real ale selection as well as all sorts of interesting hot chocolate options but rather a limited selection of teas. Vegetarian bean empanada with sour cream dip, salad & delicious wedgies for less than £6. Too much really for a lunchtime unless you're happy to slump over your desk all afternoon. Pizzas also popular including xmas pizzas (brie & cranberry sauce). Food comes out really fast which is great if you've only got an hour. Can be a bit noisy sometimes butthen it is in a student union - although open to all.

We've been to the interval cafe a few times during our tea break, or to have a drink after work. We always got really good meal-deals, although the food can be pretty standard (we'll forgive them though, it is a uni dig); but the beers and spirits are pretty cheap compared to the pubs in the area, making it altogether worth it.

Hi All,We had visited the place for lunch and ordered vegetable enchilada and piri piri chicken. The food was served quite quickly and the portion size was good too. We also enjoyed the chocolate cake and it was yummy ......The staff was very efficient and they have a good seating area both indoors and outdoors. Perfect to enjoy a pint out in the garden on a sunny day ;-)The place is quite busy during term time but serves quality food for reasonable prices. They have good offers during term time and check their daily specials board too. Will recommend this place to all for lunch & dinner with drinks :-)Cheers xx

Have been to Interval several times :) I love how they have vegan pizza, burritos with redwood cheese! Although they did gave me the vegan chimichanga without any cheese (when the menu said it came with cheese!?) and one time, they'd run out of vegan cheese so I had a vegan cheeseless pizza with extra topping. I wish they'd bring back the vegan tofu salad though! Anyway, love the place :)

Located at the Students' Union building, this cafe & bar can be very crowded with students. Still, less noisy than Bar One.Food is around £5, more decent than the diner in the 4th floor. It serves several Sheffieldish beer. Has a nice garden.大学会館にあるカフェバー。ピーク時間は学生で混雑している。日本の学食よりは高め。4階にある食堂よりはましなものがでてくる。シェフィールドの地ビールが飲める。屋外席がある。

The food here is excellent in quality, value and choice. Pulled pork pizza and steak sandwiches are delicious. The sticky toffee pudding also converted me to hot puddings. The choice of about 4 ice creams is so well picked and an exciting range. The outdoor eating area is basic but quaint and very relaxing. They're afternoon tea and cake is also very good value.

Interval is reliably very cheap and yummyThe menu is varied with something for even the fussiest eater. This us nicer than bar one with a better atmosphere, this does make it more expensive but it is worth it for the older student

We have been coming here on occasions since 2011 since our son has been a member of the University orchestra. They put on concerts on a number of Sunday evenings and we have a meal in the Interval bar first. We usually enjoy a meal and drink before the concert. We thought that the menu last night was somewhat restricted for main meals but the quality of the food was good and at a reasonable price. Our son was disappointed at a number of Tapas items being unavailable.

I have travelled round many Student Unions in my role as a representative for the National Union of Students. Sheffield SU has won the award for best Student Union 9/10 for the past 20 odd years. Interval, surely, is one of those reasons. The food here is, quite simply, excellent. This is probably down to the fact it is all freshly prepared with quality ingredients and most of the produce they use is organic. Then comes the price. A Warm Chicken & Chorizo Salad costs £5, is a large serving and is simply delicious. Interval also serve stone-baked pizzas (again all freshly made, the dough is made fresh every day) with a wide variety of toppings - the most expensive pizza costing £6.25. Vegetarians and Vegans are well catered for here. In fact, Interval is probably the best eatery for V&Vs who want to come somewhere with carnivorous friends. The also serve vegetarian ice-cream (made in Sheffield) and vegan sorbet. My only criticisms are the relatively restricted choice of dishes in the mains section - but that is a small quibble - and the pricey drinks.

I sit pondering my "scrambled egg bagel" wondering what these brown hard bits are in my eggs. It takes mere minutes to whip up some scrambled eggs, but these have clearly been sitting under a hot plate for at least 20 minutes.Everyone loves a breakfast out, but try and find somewhere else. Either that or get fried eggs. No one an make a mistake with a fried egg.

It's fantastic to be able to eat somewhere that actually caters for Vegans, is good value and not pretentious. I have eaten here a number of times with meat eaters and for a change have been able to order something without asking lots of questions and appearing fussy. The pizza with dairy-free cheese is excellent, as is the sorbet for dessert. They also do soya milk! I imagine I will be a regular visitor from now on.

I went here with my friend after shopping and found a very poor service. We had got there late and the waiter said he was very sorry all the food to order had gone. Having eaten here in the past and really liked the good quality vegetarian dishes such as chick pea casserole and green olive pie I was disappointed to find some poor quality, overpriced soya rolls. It's worth me and friends making the effort to get here early to sample the good wholesome food to hope this was just a one off and that it will be better in the future.

Awful!!!! Food absolutely hit and miss - run out of meals on menues - food when it comes is often rubbish (steaks you literally cant cut with a steak knife, shepherd pie that had the briefest glimpse of meat/filling with lumpy mash on top, portion sizes VeRY small compared to other Ember Inns. Went as a family of 6, 2 of us literally got served when other 4 had finished their meals. One older member of bar staff really rude and abrupt. Even an elderly chap who'd ordered a meal at 40% off - first they got his order wrong, then when he had to reorder this bar woman serving him just told him he’d used the 40% discount so he couldnt have that again ! Took calling for the manager for him to get his meal with the discount. Go to 2 other Ember Inns in Sheffield - both are HUGELY better than the Sportsman. Wouldnt touch it again with a bargepole - even at 40% off the foods not worth it. OK for just a drink as a nice pub inside - just a real shame about the food and appalling staff attitudes - especially for a local pub. If they cant do better that at present then they need new managers to sort out all their staffing (bar and cooks) problems - and they have many!!!!
