Instanbul Kebab House in South Oxfordshire

Have been a regular for a few years now and love the variety on the menu however for me the Chicken Shish is my goto. Staff always pleasant and although it can get busy at weekends / festival it’s never a long wait. Good use of recyclable material as well. Love going there.

Was on a day trip in Henley and bumped into this place. Did not have time to read reviews and rgeret it- multiple people reported FOOD POISONING before. The price was high, so I thought heis would be a real good quality sish kebab. I ordered lamb shish - very small portio with the seller trying to sell extras. Ok. The SHAME IS - because these people really can make an unburned tasty shish - unlike so many places. It looked perfct - not burned and appetising when made. Sadly had a very severe food poisoning after and this very evening was sick for the next few days. Hygiened control should visit more often and make rigorous checks!

Great kebab-really fresh meat and salad. All very hot and the meat was delicately spiced. Would definitely recommend a visit!

Finally somewhere that is trying to add quality to a Turkish takeaway experience. Grilled meats over charcoal, shish served with rice (wonderful!), mezzes on the side, and amazing packaging without the rubbish plastic contaminating food and not being recyclable. The quality has stepped up for sure - well done! Keep trying to raise the game. The only thing that would really make them stand out is if they made their own lamb donner. Also, it’s quite expensive. Overall, great quality food that is trying to move us beyond the standard UK kebab house.

We used Istanbul BBQ (rebranded name) for the first time last night since the re-opening. I was initially quite shocked by the price increases but decided to give it a go as the menu suggested there was a possibility it could be a bit different. We had a takeaway delivered (came quite quickly and hot) - and when we opened the boxes initially we were a little disappointed - it did look like there wouldn't be enough food (and we had ordered the large kebabs). The salad and sauce was separate - but no big deal in that - keeps the salad fresh. We both agreed - although it wasn't 'traditional' pitta filled kebab you could pick up - the bread was fantastic, the chicken shish and lamb doner seemed much better quality than before, we were both full afterwards, and - no dodgy stomach. It was expensive though - for a couple of kebabs and chips - but i would still choose this again over other kebab places locally.

Since the refurb they have obliterated their menu, lowered the quality of their food and increased the prices, more than doubling the cost of what we used to pay. I am appalled by their greedy behaviour and echo many other recent reviews in relation to their price hikes, poor product quality and ‘new’ reduced portions. We have used Istanbul Kebab for 10+ years, enjoying the variety on offer and would spend £16-£20 each time on amazing food that would feed two people comfortably. When we first opened the App after their refurb my family thought the prices were incorrect or had glitches but no, they’re really that high; we couldn’t believe it. Thankfully Henley has Herbies Pizza which charges (at the time of this review) 6.49GBP for a 1/2lb Cheese Burger inc chips and a drink, whereas for the same order Istanbul Kebab now charge 11.10GBP…..it’s disgraceful. May I add that Herbies know how to cook a good burger, offer decent portions and have lovely customer service. While I understand the common perception that Henley-on-Thames is full of wealth, charging anyone 9GBP for a regular Lamb Doner that used to cost 6GBP and was actually filling is ridiculous. Understandably they’ve lost the custom of both myself and my family.

I used to love this place, but since they’ve reopened their doors after refurbishment they’ve completely changed their menu and hiked up prices. You can no longer get a good old kebab in pitta bread - instead you get the meat with pilau rice, and a tiny bit of salad and sauce in separate plastic containers. All smaller portions at a higher cost. I hope they re-introduce some of their older dishes, otherwise will find somewhere else.

I have used this take away for 11 years and always loved their chicken shish kebab in proper pitta bread with your choice of salad so I was extremely disappointed tonight :( Five pieces of tough chicken, some weird bread cut into squares to fit the Chinese take away boxes, a salad already boxed so I couldn’t pick what I wanted (I love extra onion and there wasn’t any), plus the sauces in funny little pots!!! And to top it a regular was £9.50 which I’d happily pay for their previous portions and style but this just wasn’t worth it. I think it’s lovely that he’s improved his shop and it needs paying for but this isn’t the answer and all the packaging and sauce pots can’t be cheap…... Imagine navigating all of that after a night out drinking!!! I hope they revert back soon because I’d happily return but until then I’m sorry to say it’s a no from me.

Was expecting that the reopening would bring some new flavours and better service but was very disappointed. Order delivery reg lamb doner with chili sauce and 2 kids meals. When you pay £9 for a reg lamb doner you expect quality and this was not the case. It seems that the meal was already pre cooked and was packed in a microwave box with no chili sauce on it. Prices were shocking increased but the quality is non existing. Very disappointed

I think it has been sold. The new owner has expanded the menu massively and online seems to have taken over. However I like to watch my kebabs being built, choose my salad, make sure the chips are crisp and ensure none of it touches fish. So I go in person. The place is like a production line and I no longer know which kebab will be mine. I can be standing there for half an hour while all the online orders are made and collected. The kebabs are still very good but there is zero customer service other than taking your order and your money. Plus the prices have increased significantly! So sadly it’s not the local treat it used to be

Customer service was shocking ! I have always been a loyal customer , ordered 2 burgers was given 5 and then charged 40 pound ! I didn’t realise until I got home so I called for a refund and was shouted at saying it was my fault when it wasn’t ! I will never return ! Shocking behaviour !!!!!!!

Have had takeaway kebabs here a good handful of times in the past year - normally the family feast with a mix of everything. Great value, Consistently delicious, and lovely staff.

I have eaten here numerous times in the last 14 months and every time I enjoyed it thoroughly. I almost always got the vegetarian kebab with Chili sauce and occasionally a portion of chips. The vegetable kebab was fantastic value and included delicious falafels, vegetables grilled over charcoal, salads and pickled chilies. I loved the baklava and the Turkish soft drinks. The fellows that work there have always been polite and friendly and a special mention must go to the gentleman who I think may own the place. He was always lovely and would give me a wave and a smile anytime I walked by. The shop was always clean to my eye and the ingredients as fresh as they come. I live back in Australia now but remember Istanbul Kebabs very fondly.

Can I say what an absolute and complete shame it is to see Istanbul a Bare skeleton of its former self, I remember years ago it was the best Kebab and take away shop in Henley, now the lightning is so dim it looks closed three quarters of the time!Marc Etheridge.

These guys are the real deal and they are passionate about their food and service. it’s takeaway only but they do deliver.

I walked passed the place and I have seen something unusual. There was raw chicken meat on the grill and underneath was kebab (cooked) from the previous badge, raw juices dropped on the cooked meat, which has been kept warm.

This place does the best foods my Nan says she has ever tasted a better kebab. Very quick and easy place to eat.

Was visiting Henley on Thames and wanted a quick inexpensive bite before getting train to London. Chicken shish Kebab salad in pitta. So tasty. Staff were welcoming and friendly. An extensive menu recommended.

The food here is gorgeous, the staff are amazing. They now have a delivery service which will come in handy. Large selection on offer and always with a smile from the lads there. Will be returning over and over again.

Después de leer algunas críticas, decidimos probar. Nunca me sentí tan enfermo en mi vida después. Práctica de higiene cuestionable para mí. La ensalada estaba podrida. Pisos pegajosos. Todos los signos estaban allí. El servicio era pobre también. Rude y todos hablando en turco a pesar de que trato de ordenar. Evitar a toda costa.

A lamb shish kebab to die for not mad on the chips but everything else is brilliant fast service and always happy to see you

Me encanta este lugar, siempre estupendos para tomar algo de comer en el camino a casa. Tiene un montón de variaety y nunca he tenido un problema aquí toda la comida y la ensalada se prepara en el día y freshy es el mejor kebab house sé. Muy amable.

Cuando uno tiene hambre después de un trago o 81 Este lugar ofrece… no sólo se puede entender que en este punto mi idioma lo hacen con una sonrisa. La comida es excepcional y nunca me despertó en la mañana con cualquier sobras. Top, largo el servir… recomiendo el cordero con menta y burger vestirse. Una verdadera sensación de gusto.. .

Had 2 daytime visits here recently, the food was expertly cooked and prepared, much better than the usual standard. I think the owners have gotten some proper chefs in...Chicken Shish kebabs were delicious (and healthy!)

Gran gusto, helal alimentos, el personal es amable, mejor kebab shop en el REINO UNIDO. Hay opciones de vegetarianos. Mejor llevar en Henley.

Estambul Kebab tiene muy probado muchos kebabs y el servicio es maravilloso, muy enorme, tiene muy amable y respeto personal Estambul tienes que visitar tan pronto como sea posible.

Fuimos y cogí un cordero donair. Muy sabrosa. Demasiado grande para terminar. El propietario nos ofreció patatas fritas pero sabíamos que no termine el don se propala.

Been a few times now, You have to try the Lamb kebab great value for money, parking can be a bit of a challenge!

What a kebab. Absolutely outstanding. In all my years, I have never seen before me, such a graceful and sumptuous kebab. The flavour was exemplary, the service gratuitous. The value was beyond comparison, the atmosphere Turkish to the last. This is one kebab that will never be removed.

Absolutely crap , I bought one chicken thing got it home one mouthful of grease and that was enough for me , don't go there , next time I feel peckish after pint I think I'll make a sandwich when I get in or just go hungry , it's disgusting

Ok no need for a fancy over detailed review. Straightforward food, well flavoured and nicely cooked. Great portion sizes and by no means expensive. A good healthily option (chicken) and salads if you don't feel like cooking or anything too expensive. We have used on multiple occasions no problems.

I have been using this place for years in various states of intoxication and occasionally stone cold sober. Their kebabs are one of those treats we sometimes have when we just cannot be bothered to cook but a curry is too expensive. Chicken shish is delicious and they are always cooked fresh. It is value for money, clean, friendly and does what it says on the tin
