Extremely busy whilst we were there but the staff are amazing the service Extremely good, and a great pint

I stayed for one night. You check in in the restaurant, and the rooms are just up the steps. Staff were nice. The included parking was a HUGE plus as this town gets busy. It was surprisingly quiet at night, considering the restaurant was downstairs, so i slept well. The breakfast is ordered off a menu and tastes good. I specifically contacted the hotel and asked for the time for breakfast and was given the wrong information. This was frustrating as I had used that to plan and had to adjust my schedule.

Lovely welcome from staff. Lovely pub well presented and clean stayed for food which was well presented and quick service with quality pub food which makes a change these day's, will most definitely be back for sure, well done the white lion Hotel staff, oh and dog friendly too

Convenient and centrally placed location. Tesco is just in front of this hotel. A bit noisy. Breakfast is Ala carte. I would prefer a buffet.

Wow, the Sunday lunch was appalling. When we complained the old guy serving just shrugged his shoulders and said yea. Edit whoever wrote the description in the menu needs a nomination for the Pulitzer Prize for culinary fiction. Jeez. Did you look into it Owner? Do you care to comment further?

Busy pub in centre of Ambleside. Food okay and not too pricey. Only pub in town where I could get a pint of Wainwrights!

We stopped in for a couple of drinks late in the evening. This pub has a nice atmosphere and is reasonably priced with a good selection of beers and spirits

Had lunch here. Great service, good quality food, friendly staff and dogs allowed too.

Had a lovely family room with all we needed. Very clean, with friendly service Food was great, we had evening meal good choice, breakfast was fantastic. Highly reccomend.

Great place to stay of you want to be bang right in the centre of Ambleside to enjoy all the restaurants they have to offer. Food at the actual place of lovely as well. The Hosts couldn't do enough to make your stay enjoyable. It was nice and clean with coffee making facilities and even have an Iron and Ironing board in your room which is rare these days. Was so quiet in the evening and you wouldn't think you were staying about the pub/restaurant. Would stay again no shadow of a doubt

We arrived shortly before 3.00pm the checking in time and was told to wait, this was not an issue whatsoever as the bar people were really nice and friendly. The manageress was extremely informative and helpful as well.

My wife an I stayed at your white lion hotel in Ambleside on a two night break starting on the 14th March, our stay was firstly to celebrate our 44th wedding anniversary, and secondly a break from the building work we were having carried out at home. Unfortunately our room, number five, was situated next to the room housing the properties heating boiler, which had a fault that was causing it to produce a loud whine/squealing noice when running, which was almost constantly. This noice could be heard as soon as you reached the security door at the top of the stairs. We reported this issue to a member of staff within 20 minutes of our arrival. We were later informed that due to them not being able to contact your central booking service and health & safety reasons, we couldn’t be allocated another room. After a sleepless night, we again complained to the manager on duty at breakfast , who after contacting central bookings agreed to move us to a room away from the boiler room. According to the duty manager, the boiler had been like that since January and the reason it hadn’t been repaired was that you are in dispute with the service engineers and that we weren’t the first guests to complain about the noice. On a positive note, the location was very central, the bar and bedrooms were clean and well maintained (apart from the boiler), the staff were extremely helpful and polite, breakfast was preordered the previous night with ample choices, we opted for the full English which was freshly made with more than ample size portions.

The staff were all lovely. The room was spacious and clean as was the modern bathroom. The choice of drinks in the bar were very good and reasonably priced. We had sharing plates of food at lunchtime and all very tasty. Breakfast was freshly cooked and good quality ingredients. Nice late checkout time of 12 noon. Great to have a car park space too, one of the reasons I booked. The overall ambiance of the pub and dining area was really nice and relaxing. The only down side was there was a noisy motor running all night in the room next to ours, possibly an air con unit? Wouldn't stop us booking again but would request a different room.

Service excellent, friendly welcome and chat wirh bar staff, real ales and food.

Much better than expected, lovely clean room, lovely view, perfectly situated in Ambleside, breakfast was great and we felt really safe as you needed a key fob to get upstairs to the bedrooms from the pub

Chosen for Location to have a quick getaway to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Location was great. Could park the car in the White Lion car park for the entire stay. Spacious clean room. Staff friendly Cooked breakfast was good.
