Indo Cymru Restaurant in Cardiff

Curry was mediocre. Arrived almost two hours after ordering and wasn't even that warm and I live less than a mile away. I won't be ordering from here again

En Cardiff por tres noches, la comida, el servicio y el ambiente era muy bueno, así que comimos allí dos veces, lo cual es raro para nosotros. Ambas visitas pendientes, no podía fallar nada aparte de que no podía obtener un descuento del gerente después de nuestra segunda visita. Jaja.

Pedimos una comida para llevar. Curry "vegetariano" y arroz pilau para 14. Esto era coco y yogurt. Cuando discutí esto con el camarero en el restaurante, me dijeron que 'dejara una reseña con solo comer' a pesar de que no ordené a través de ellos. Recomiendo no ordenar a través de este restaurante. Muy decepcionante.

El mejor y favorito restaurante de comida india. Hemos estado yendo aquí desde los 80 s, y desde que nos mudamos a Cardiff hace 18 meses, todavía es todo lo que recordamos. a young gentlemen called Saeed made my night, he deserves a pay rise. he was so polite and funny. The food met the standards of my expectations and came within 30 minutes, which is not bad. definitely revisiting to see Saeed again!!!

My husband and myself have just eaten another delicious meal.We ordered the Chicken Bhuna and the Chicken Dupiaza, with pilau rice and chips, Plus poppadums. Food arrived on delivery time and was piping hot. I would not order from anywhere else, highly recommended,

Este pequeño restaurante no ha cambiado desde que solíamos ir cuando mis hijos eran pequeños. Es tradicional, con impecable mantelería y servilletas blancas, encantadoras pinturas murales y grabados que muestran las historias hindúes de Krishna. El servicio y la comida eran excelentes, todo estaba fresco y sabroso. Estuve con un grupo de aproximadamente 30 personas y los pedidos y las comidas se sirvieron sin demoras y no tuvimos prisa, ya que todos teníamos mucho de qué hablar.

I cant fault the quality of the curries in this eatery the decor is something to be desired its a bit dated well its a lot dated but look beyond the decor and you will be in for a treat

Immaculate, fabulous food. Staff are gracious attentive and gorgeous. Our favourite Indian atm. Plus I'm never I'll after eating there, #coeliacs are us

I have just had food delivered. I have used this curry hours for many years and mainly as a takeaway, which we have delivered. The food is always piping hot and delicious. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys indian food.

Durante mucho tiempo he sido fanático de Indo Cymru y tuve la suerte de visitar el restaurante el otro día. Mi katchuri dhansak era como siempre, caliente y picante, pero también muy sabroso. El ajo naan también fue perfecto. Los popodoms somos agradables y crujientes y las chutneys frescas.

Estamos aquí un domingo por la noche como un grupo de 5 adultos.

This is our local takeaway and have been coming here for years. Staff are always pleasant and helpful. Food is consistently good. They make the best channa dansak in Wales. Bwyd a chroeso da bob tro.

Really good, solid Indian food with a smile. This is exactly what you would expect from a good Indian Restaurant. It has all the old favourites and a traditional setting but always delivers.

The rudest and most appalling restaurant I have ever received food from. I rang three times to be greeted by the response ‘what do you want’ and then hung up on me everybody single time I rang when I was mid senetence. The food was meant to be deliered by 1:45 and came passed 3am and cold! If this is the type of restaurant you have on your page I will be very reluctant to use just eat. Extremely disappointed

The food containers had open and leaked all over the inside of the bag and rest of the food which made a huge mess. Sauces were basically water and I'm also pretty sure that the chicken wasn't even cooked fully. It was that awful I didn't eat it. Will be asking for a full refund

Food was lovely. Absolutely loads of chicken in the curries. Only negative point would be the naan bread - it wasn't great.

This is NOT Indian food. You don't add sugar in food! Waste of money. Honestly it's deceiving when you say Indian food. It is like may be Indian food sweetened for the Welsh. Zero taste.

Estado aquí una vez antes de llegar para llevar un amigo tras de mí y mi padre había sido a púrpura Poppadom (pagamos más de £100 por ni siquiera tres campos) y me mató porque dijo su comida era maravillosa, pero nuestro de por persona era NO - especialmente en el precio que pagamos.

I have dined here many times over the last 25 years. There are better Indian options along the same stree, but this place opens late and the food is good.

Esto no fue un problema para mí, ya estoy cansado de los grandes restaurantes de plan abierto en el centro de Cardiff, con demasiadas mesas apretadas. El servicio también me pareció bien; cada uno de los camareros que tratamos con nuestra mesa era muy educado y atento.

He disfrutado de una comida agradable en este larga casa de curry, pero no cenar aquí de nuevo a menos que mejoraron su calificación higiene alimentaria.

The best Indian food in Cardiff for sure

We have been using this curry house for our regular weekly take away for almost 2 years now. The food is always fantastic, hot and of restaurant standard, they are 100% consistent and we have not had a bad dish in all that time. They are friendly when you order and also when they deliver. Wouldn't dream of going anywhere else!!

We always go here if we need/want to eat after the pubs close, the last time this happened was Sunday night. Unlike anywhere else they are open until twelve on a Sunday and I have been there even later on a Friday and Saturday. Over the years the curries have been up and down and on this occasion they were brilliant, less greesy and fresher, delicious naans. I had a sizzling paneer dish which as a vegetarian was a real treat. As others have said it's been ran by the same people for years and they are always friendly to us, they have the patients or saints to deal with the be vied up and ravenous post pub/Cardiff city/rugby crowd and I have witness some terribly rude customers. I'm pleased that hey have kept their cool and continue to open late to serve us some hot and spicy. Thanks Indo Cymru!

I was fortunate enough to live in Canton many moons ago so was in the Indo Cymru all the time. I still try to make it back as often as I can because the food hasn't changed. Its still very good. The dhansak for me is the best around. I'd also recommended the Naan. The interior of the Indo Cymru is quite unique as ornate glass separates each of the tables.The owner comes across as a little dour but he's a good bloke and the other staff are friendly.For a restaurant to be open as long as the Indo Cymru they must be doing something right. To be recommended.

Food not delivered this is not the first time when ordering through just eat food has not arrived last time food ordered from akabab house and did not arrive

The food arrived half an hour late - okay, that happens. We were missing two items - again, that happens. But when we called the restaurant it took five minutes to establish the problem, make it absolutely clear that they weren't hiding anywhere in the plastic bag we received, and the only recompense we were offered was a free chips if we ordered from them again. We won't.

Lovely food and earlier than was said

Waiter was slow, uninterested and bordering on rude, food took nearly an hour to arrive and was average at best. Had they been busy I could have understood however there were about 7 tables occupied in the whole place, one of which got their main courses well before us despite arriving after we did.

I did not enjoy the food I had a vegetable madras curry it was greasy and bland

once again the restaurant added 20 minutes onto the delivery time

Friendly staff which I couldn't fault for attentive service and friendliness but the food was average at best. Reminded me more of a chicken stew.

I've been coming for 20 years; they seem to have "spiced it up" a bit of late, but it was good grub even back when it was rough and ready. Great name, too!

I was required to pick up my food in the pouring rain because the restaurant REFUSED to deliver because they were 'too busy'. Food was good tho.

Can't fault delivery service or food quality, only disappointment was the fact that the onion Bhaji was missing and a lamb Bhuna was sent instead of a chicken Bhuna, luckily enough I like lamb !!

Went two days ago. My partner asked for a bhuna but when it arrived it wasn't a bhuna. We told them but wouldn't do anything about it. Even if they had given us free coffee it would have been something. When we went to pay my partner again complained. He said we'll you are it. My partner said I didn't say it wasn't edible I said it want a bhuna!!! But anyway he paid and we left. But that evening about 2am both of us who had both had chicken wete extremely ill with sickness and upset stomach's. We were up all night and we're ill the next day which was my birthday!!!. The service and attitude of the staff were appalling. I rang to speak to the manager but he put the phone down on me and wouldn't even listen!!! I spoke to another member of staff he too put the phone down on me. DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT.

Great food and delivery was early, but they got a bit of the order wrong. Asked for half rice and chips as part of it, but instead got all rice. Not that big a deal but took 1 star off.

My friends and I visited the Indo Cymru after sampling a few hostelries along Cathedral Rd - another story!The staff in the Restaurant were exceptionally helpful and provided cold Cobras on our arrival. The food arrived quickly and was hot in both temperature and spikiness.I had the chicken spinach balti - madras strength and it was delicious.Well done Indo Cymru... and thank you very much.

I'm minded that reviewing a restaurant after one visit is not always a fair reflection of standard and quality. My first visit (May) with a friend was just before "kicking out" time. But I was sober as a judge(driving) and not really expecting much by way of good Indian fayre. How wrong could I be. The place was immaculate, service was very attentive...and the food was superb. We kept it simple with usual popadoms and chutneys to start. Crisp and fresh and not soused in oil. Main course for us was a Tandori chicken on a sizzling skillet and a lamb Balti. Really fresh sauce, quality meat and quality sides (including rice and naams). So decided to visit again with my wife (July)...once more excellent ambience, great service and quality food. So... decided to make sure and visited again recently with friends...all agreed that the standard was great and value excellent. I think it gives the Purple Popadom a run for its very expensive fayre. You'll not be disappointed. Really would recommend.

Went to pick up the food but was closed and refused to give me the food after, had a call in the morning from the owner calling me stupid for not picking up the food. What kind of business owner is this? No respect at all. Avoid buying food from here!!!

We arrived in the restaurant at 9-30 pm there was only four tables in use including ours order eventually taken food took an age to arrive but food was good I've used this restaurant many times before but it has gone downhill

We visited last night and even though the food wasnt bad it was a bit pricey also £16 for a cheap Mateous wine is ridicoulous so we didnt buy it place needs modenising as its old and musty.

well, to start the curry was all over the carry bag. Then the food, was unpalatable. we found, uncooked onions, uncooked tomatoes and STONES in our briyani. There was no salt either, and the Sauce was as sweet as possible.!! will never order here again.!! Plus the colouring agent they used, never went off my hand.

I want to give this place 4 out of 5 but the service is ridiculously bad. We were repeatedly ignored by staff even when they passed directly by our table! Not sure how but we eventually managed to order and receive our food which was really good - good tasty curries and plentiful portions and lots of meat. Fresh naan bread and we appreciated the generous portions of dips to accompany the poppadoms. The food was worth the wait - and the poor service!We were taken aback, to the point of involuntarily chuckling, when placing the bill on the table the waiter said "It's just for the food and drinks"! Needless to say, we didn't add a tip to the total after such lack and rude service.

The food was very nice and reasonably priced, but the hour wait between starter and mains was not acceptable. Further more the staff were generally grumpy and unhelpful, and acted like WE were being unreasonable when my husband politely asked when the food was coming. Waiter even had the cheek to ask for a tip at the end!

I've been eating in the Indo Cymru for over 16 years and have to say it is one of my favourite Indian Restaurants in Cardiff. It has a great menu with something for everyone. The Booths they have are quite unique with ornate glass figures in the panels separating the booths. On this occasion I had a takeaway which was good value for money. For about £16 I had some popodoms, a prawn puree, a Katchuri Dhansak, Chicken Curry and Half&Half. It was all really tasty and didn't take long to prepare. I'll be back to the Indo Cymru soon

Food came really quickly, the driver was very friendly and lovely, the food itself was of great quality and you could tell had been cooked fresh, the vegetarian options are amazing, full of flavour and there was plenty of choice, will definitely be using this restaurant again!

The food was fine. The service was jaw-dropping bad. We were the second people to arrive so they weren't busy, but it still took nearly half an hour to get 2 drinks and popodums. Between the starters and the mains our used plates were removed, but our used cutlery was put back on the table for us to use again. After we had the main meals (nothing special but nothing wrong with the food either) we were waiting to order desserts and coffee. Without being asked we just had the bill dropped on the table. We left an appropriate tip for the service - nothing.
