Indo in Bracknell Forest

Regrettably, I am compelled to give this restaurant a zero-star rating. Despite initial positive reviews, our family dinner turned out to be an incredibly disappointing experience. Initially, they confirmed a reservation for our family of six but emphasized the necessity of an appointment and the restriction on bringing a dog due to potential inconvenience to other guests. Upon our arrival, we were the sole patrons during the entire three-hour visit, with no other customers even for takeout. The waiter's discourteous request for us to write down our own orders set a perplexing tone. The subsequent delays in delivering lukewarm dishes, particularly the excessively chewy and artificially colored chicken tikka, further marred our dining experience. All our ordered curries, apart from the Dal tadka, unexpectedly had a sweet flavor. Compounding the issue, the same individual served as both receptionist and waiter, displaying a lack of responsiveness to our needs. We had to approach him for basic requests such as additional cutlery and drinking water. His constant cellphone use demonstrated a lack of professionalism. Upon settling the bill, the waiter refused to provide a physical copy, citing a peculiar policy. Despite my insistence on its necessity, he directed me to email or physically visit for a receipt, leaving me puzzled. In summary, as a dedicated food enthusiast, this stands as my most unsatisfactory restaurant experience to date. I strongly discourage anyone from visiting this establishment, particularly if expecting authentic Indian cuisine, as it specializes in Bangladeshi dishes.

After friends recommended we decided to get a takeaway from Ray’s tonight. Lovely food, really tasty, so much of it and a much more competitive price than other local establishments. Will definitely use again. Highly recommended.

I don't come to this restaurant very often. But every time that I do ... quality of food, staff and service can't be beaten.

we arrived early evening and spent a wonderful time tasting dishes we'd not tried before. Staff were lovely and we had a great conversation with them too once we had finished we had coffee and went home feeling thoroughly spoilt.

We have ordered takeaway from here before but decided to eat in this time. The staff were friendly and the food was really good, nice and hot and a decent amount of it. Will definitely be visiting again.

Excellent village restaurant. We had the most loveliest of meals tonight and the waiter khalie is the most courteous of waiters I’ve ever met. I had the lamb shashlik that came out sizzling on a hot Plate and the rice was to die for. The waiter offered us almond ice cream that was delicious and definitely a must try. All round an excellent meal and definitely a now regular visit from us.

Great food and friendly, efficient service. Our meals were freshly cooked and very tasty. Service was quicker than we expected given the bank holiday weekend

We used to be regulars for takeaways at Rays Kitchen but about a year ago something changed and the quality and flavour of the currys dropped dramatically so we stopped going there. We tried them again a couple of weeks ago to see if matters had improved and I am sorry to say they were worse than before, flavourless thin curry sauces probably the worse I have had from an Indian takeaway.

Great food, friendly service. We have eaten in and had takeaway delivery, both were excellent. Looking forward to next time.

Went last night 26/5 for our first meal out/date night since the easing of the last lockdown. We've never been before but I'd been looking online for restaurants that serve vegan food, obviously ghee is used a lot in Indian cooking so I was delighted when I came across this place which serves vegan food as well as meat dishes etc.. so caters for everyone which is great! The food was full of flavour and we'll presented, we couldn't manage to eat it all so they kindly packaged up what was left so we could bring it home. The staff were super friendly and a credit to the place. They don't serve alcohol but instead you can bring your own, we didn't know this but it wasn't a problem at all as there was a Tesco express next door. I also think this is a good idea as buying alcohol from a restaurant can obviously cost quite a bit so it saves on the alcohol costs meaning that if you want to, you can try out a couple more dishes! I definitely recommend this place and already organising coming back with my dad and stepmum. Thanks for a lovely meal and lovely experience. Rachel and Roger :)

Ordered a take away for 4 people last night. Mostly OK except for the much vaunted (in the menu)Masala Fries. These turned out to be simply red undercooked and limp chips with absolutely no flavour at all. Not worth the £4.00 (less 10 per cent discount) that was charged.

Another fantastic takeaway from Ray’s kitchen. Kids loved the tikka starter and chips to go with (mild as requested). The mixed grill was great with plenty of meat and flavour - never disappoints. We can’t wait until you can open again so we can come and visit with the family.

We ordered online which was easy at 6.40 and asked for delivery 7.30-7.45 confirmatory e mail said delivery would be 50 minutes. The food eventually turned up at 8.10. We are only 5 minutes drive from the restaurant but the food was Luke warm and the main meals were disappointing in flavour and the side dish was dry. First time we’ve used them since change of name next time we will try on a less busy night.

I only had about 4 or 5 cubes of chicken in my Korma the rest was just gravy (curry sauce).. The samosas tasted really nice!! but were so small to the point I actually laughed when I opened the container. The bombay aloo was really hard and undercooked, the nann bread actually had holes in it so im guessing the tandoori chef overcooked them or didn't roll them out enough so they had air pockets!!. And to top it all off i had to heat the food up in the microwave.... I know what its like when its a busy night so ill try not to be to critical but I wasn't Impressed and would probably not order again. When your scrolling through looking at reviews making your choice on where to order id advise you swerve this restaurant. Sorry rays kitchen.....

Due to lockdown takeaways are our only option!Always great service, family takeaway with great selection.Tikka taco and burger for the kids - just asked for less spice than normal.Great mixed grill for me and tandoor chicken garlic chilli for the wife.Loved the food as per usual.

Tried Indo for delivery for the first time and very impressed. Super food, reasonable price, polite staff on phone and delivery. Really enjoyed it and recommend.

Dropped in on the way home from London, just felt we should try it as we had passed it many times and said it looked popular.Had only booked 20 mins earlier by phone but managed to fit us in on a Friday night. Were welcomed and shown to our table made our drinks order and perused the extensive and varied menu. The drinks came quickly along with popadoms followed in good time by our staters, We found it difficult to chose a starter so ordered the onion and sweet corn bhaji plus the chaat patta prawns and vegetable samosas a mistake as they were surprising large portions and delicious but left little room for the mains. We had a Lamb Chom Chom and a Salmon Tika masala again delicious and well presented.Overall a place we wished we had tried before very reasonably priced for the quality and one we will definitely return to soon.

My husband and I had never tried this restaurant before so thought we would give it a go. On arrival the restaurant was clean and welcoming.However the service turned out to be very poor. We waited ages for some popadoms to come and then even longer for our main course. The restaurant was not full and people that came in after us were served their main course first. We were told our food was coming but it was at least another 20 minutes before it finally arrived. Everything we ordered was nice.My husband said the toilets were dirty but I can’t comment on the ladies as I didn’t use them.Overall because of the service we were disappointed here. We wouldn’t go back again.

Our love affair with indo is sadly over , I have written good reviews in the past but something is really badly wrong here. We have in the past 6 months been served raw chicken and the latest occurence sent this back , it was cooked and re presented with half the dish. No money off. An apology , yes, but that is that . Dangerous food standards. Will never go back , willing to always give a second chance but undercooked chicken twice is a huge problem and the kitchen needs a serious look at . Great shame as used to be excellent. Sorry but this needs to be highlighted to others

Have used Indo a few times since it opened, but lately the food has been even better than usual. Delivery was prompt, though it was midweek. Dishes are well proportioned, very tasty and packed with chicken/beef/king prawns as ordered. Will definitely be back for more!

We moved to Crowthorne 1 year ago & as only a short walk away - we tried - it was ok.....This Saturday, 1 year later we thought we would give it another go as only a short walk away, this time it was absolutely delicious & we will be definitely making this our local take out treat from now on. We both had a chicken Jalfrieze ordered firstly by phone before tracking off. Big chunks of succulent chicken, wonderful flavours, not too hot. Onion bhaji’s were very tasty & pilau rice. All in all was yum. Hopefully it will be this good next time.

Found myself (as usual) away on business looking for a nice Indian. I didn’t even intend to come here, as I stopped to get some cash from an ATM nearby.The food was lovely. I had popadoms with a fresh and varied pickle tray.I think had a special - chicken chom chom with pilau rice and chapatis. Lovely, fresh, hot food that I would have again if I found myself near here again. Good waiter service, efficient, friendly and attentive.All in all a thoroughly good Indian that I would recommend and come to again.Well done.

We’ve ordered takeaway from here 3 or 4 times in the last year and had a cracking meal each time. The curries that claim to be hot really do have a decent heat to them, and all the dishes we’ve tried have been very flavourful with some really unique tasting dishes available. We’ll be eating in there soon to see if the restaurant is as good as the takeaway.

Very good food, more authentic than most Indian restaurants and the best in the area. It is tucked away in a row of shops so not always busy but well worth a trip. Jolly good!

The food here is good... really good, the delivery service is s**t... really s**t.

This is now our local Indian and is a great improvement on the previous incarnation -the India Gate I think it was called. Having tried all the curry houses in the area past and present Indo is consistently the best for us.

I have lost count of the number of times I have eaten here. If it were a pub it would be my local. Indeed, there is always a table of people doing just that, drinking and not eating. A note to the owners, perhaps do bar snacks. It looks better that a group drinking pints whilst others are eating plus you will make more money. Eric remains as the mainstay of the restaurant. That man works so hard but keeps smiling. All the other staff are friendly and efficient. I love the food. I know not everyone agrees. That's their right. I personally hate those 'don't eat here' reviews. Every place has an off day and indeed how do we know that the reviewer did not just have an off day? So overall, doing well.

4th take away we have had from this restaurant and every time they are within the time they say they will be, the food is always hot, the order is always correct. But more importantly very delicious.

Indo is our local Indian restaurant that we use probably once a month and find it welcoming and a pleasant atmosphere. Now and again a takeaway is called and find it just as good as sitting in.

This is really a great restaurant. the food is well cooked, professionally served and everyone is made to feel at home. Unfortunately we are a large group who regularly dine and meet here and on this occasion, we met to support each other, mourn the loss of a friend but also celebrate her life as she would have wished. Unfortunately there are always a few people in life who are so anally retentive they feel the need to slate others for doing so but hey - I'm sure Bristol has some great restaurants but also some really sad people.

There is always a group of people in the centre table of the restaurant who don't eat , chat loudly and frequently go outside for a cigarette. It's like a youth club but the age range is middle aged. The group of non eaters has grown and now overpowers the restaurant . It's awful. More attention is given to this group than the people dining. They stink of stale cigarette smoke and are loud . I'm confused if this is a restaurant or a meeting place for disparate middle aged misfits.The food is inconsistent - sometimes really good and others poor. Won't be visiting again because of the weird mix of non eaters in the restaurant.

Warm and friendly - food is of a high quality. It is quite intimate - but be warned - it is closed on Mondays!

We're local and visit Indo on a regular basis for both takeaways and restaurant ambiance. Our experiences have all been excellent without exception. The food is always superb only surpassed by the service.

This restaurant is quite local and have been several times before, but admittedly not recently. When we arrived there was only one couple eating, so shown to table quicly and ordered drinks and poppadoms. At this point a group of four very loud people ( strong west european accents ) , who then sat a table next to us ?. They were extremely demanding about getting their snacks, starters and dinner and as a result all three waiters served them exclusively, even when another couple came in. As a result we were still waiting for snacks, while they were on main courses. We asked why and was told " they wanted to get them out as quick as possible.". When i asked why let them in, all i got was a shrug. At this point we left....

This restaurant is scarily close to where I live and I have been ignoring it in favour of Kabirs. I'm a conoseur of Indian food and Indo ranks as one of the best I've had in years, much better than Kabirs.

Just had a lovely meal - lots of fresh ingredients, great flavours - a class above the norm. Attentive, but not intrusive service. Our first visit - we will be returning!

This was the first time we'd ever tried Indian and I must say it was delicious! The waiters were extremely patient and helpful and my only regret is that we didn't do this before! Everything we had was beautifully flavoured and the chicken was so moist. My favourite was a starter of a butterfly king prawn which was very delicate and so tasty! I wouldn't hesitate to go back here and look forward to working our way through the menu!

I live in Crowthorne and with Indian food being one of my favourites its a little disappointing that of all the indian restaurants in the area Indo is the only one I would recommend. Although not outstanding it ticks most of the boxes. Its a very small restaurant but with a nice ambience for both families and couples and as for the food Ive never had a bad meal there. The only negative thing I would say is it never seems to be that busy which is a shame as it takes away some of the atmosphere and the feeling of a night out. It may be because its tucked away in a small residential area but if it were on the High street I'm sure it would attract more customers. Deserves better !

Eight of us went on a Tuesday night, which is deal night (£ 10.95) starter, main, side rice or bread good value for money. The food in general was good however the spicy hot dishes could have been hotter, and therefore tended to be a bit bland. Service was excellent, wine and drinks were very reasonable. Definitely go again even on a normal night.

The restaurant is comfortable and well decked out. Quite small but plenty of space between diners. The food is good and there's a good choice.

3 of us recently had a takeaway from here, one of the mains was lukewarm at best and though the food was quite tasty it was also quite oily. Little disappointed as there are some really good Indian restaurant/takeaways in the village which are cheaper too - I struggle to see how on our offerings that this is the top restaurant in Crowthorne and we had hoped for better given that it has been open a while and any teething issues that can sometimes impact a new restaurant should be resolved. All of the Indian/Asian restaurants in Crowthorne seem to offer something slightly different from each other too which was one of the reasons for trying it. Will possibly give it one more try in a few weeks to see if it we were just unlucky.

Loved the food but a bit quiet. Went on a week night so was quiet but the food was great. Will be going back again and looks a good spot for a group to go to.

We stopped by for happy hour and a snack. While the drinks were good and the view was nice, the appetizer platter was uninspiring and the ceviche was the worst I have ever had. The flavor was good but the seafood was tough and one of the ingredients was spongy and un-chewable.

Although we've lived in the area for many years, this restaurant has passed us by. That is certainly our loss.The food is freshly prepared and tastes wonderful. In my opinion it is the best Indian restaurant in the area. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

This strange little tucked-away restaurant within a tiny parade of shops well away from the High Street, is the last place I would expect to find a restaurant I would go out of my way to eat at! But this little independant has a better-than-average choice on their menu, with prices set ball-park with others in the area, but the Chef at Indo makes a far better job than most at achieving great presentation AND flavour (there are others we could all name, who manage one without the other I'm sure!).I can see there are some mixed reviews here, but I can't understand why - we've now eaten here twice, and were 5* impressed on both occasions!

I live in Birmingham so have access to hundreds of indian restaurants. We stumbled across this restaurant after looking for somewhere to eat using the Sat Nav. I have to say it was the best curry we had both had. It tasted fresh and the vegetables were still nice and crisp. I just wished it was closer to home.

After reading other reviews, I thought I would give an Indo a try for a takeaway. Unfortunately the food was average at best, and given that it's not cheap I would suggest other Indian restaurants in the area. We had 4 chicken curry dishes, all of which where the chicken had clearly been cooked in the absence of a marinade and then added to the sauce later. It may be that the eat in food is cooked differently from the takeaway food, so that might yield a better experience.

Real quality Indian food can be found here. Prepare your self for special flavours and quality cuts of meat. The Indo is a real treat and a cut above the rest in our area.

Slightly more expensive than your average curry house, so I was expecting something special but didn't feel the overall experience delivered.I ordered tandoori lamb chops for starter, which were lovely, but came out quite a bit later than everyone else's. I wouldn't have minded this so much, but the waiter kept trying to take my plate away as everyone else had finished their starters. Some other members of our group didn't feel their service was great either (eg. drinks orders forgotten, cracked glass, etc).I ordered chicken tikka vindaloo for main course, which was nice, but not very (spicy) hot, which was disappointing for a vindaloo. My OH had the jalfrezi which he was was really good.I would go there again, but it wouldn't be top of my preferences.

Wow, this is a model example of how to run a small restaurant. I'd heard great things about this new (2013) restaurant in Crowthorne and I was not disappointed.The service was spot on and the food was delicious. There was a great choice available on the menu and the staff were really good. In addition, the meal was great value and the comfortable seating and low noise levels helped our evening along nicely. I will certainly be coming back here again.

Tried Indo takeaway after reading the reviews. The onion bhajis were non description and the accompanying salad was mainly onions. The veg balti was too salty and watery and did not have an accompanying nan. The chicken biryani just tasted of curry powder, lamb korma just soggy . The chicken tikka was ok. It was expensive and did not deliver a taste for the price. Poor for the price.

I visited with a friend who lives locally and we both really enjoyed our meals. I had the Ayer Fish Bhuna, which I had never encountered before. Fish curries can be disappointing if the fish does not absorb the flavours successfully but the choice of fish and ancillary ingredients here ensured success. I sampled Bangla beer, which again was a first, and complemented the main dish. On top of that, the service was friendly and efficient.so this qualifies Indo as a highly recommended establishment that I shall return to.

We have been getting our takeaways from here since they re-opened but wanted to try their sit down service as the new owners have revamped the whole restaurant and it looks really smart. The service is top quality and so is the food and we both enjoyed our meal very much. The house wine went well with the food. Best restaurant in Crowthorne.

There is no off-street parking. But then it is walkable if you live in the village. It has gone through three name changes in two years and is now under new ownership. I am pleased to report that Eric still works there. He is a great waiter so say 'Hi' when you see him. The change of ownership has resulted in many changes. It is now really comfortable and the food is excellent. It is good to see it being well used. If you do drive, you can buy a bottle of wine in the Tesco next door to drink at home, so everybody wins.Try it soon and support this excellent local business

Visited this restaurant with my wife last night.Without a doubt the best Indian food we have ever experienced.Tucked away in a small parade of shops in a residential area but well worth seeking out. Highly recommended

We love this restaurant as it has finally shown the mediocrity of the 3 indians in the village. Very good indian food and excellent service with a smile. The decor is fantastic and I hope they keep up the good work and food. Now we do not need to travel to Wokingham for a good curry!

Under new management with a new menu with different food items on menu . So much better than the old restaurant.The staff made us very welcome and the service and food was great .

Four of us went here for a Saturday evening which was surprisingly quiet. You could not fault the service, very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The starters were very good especially the lamb tikka, followed by the mains which were also all well presented and just the right size. They were even happy to make up a dish which wasn't on the menu and to add spice to any other dishes. All followed by dessert and offered drinks on the house which was a very nice touch. All in all a great experience with excellent food, we shall definitely be going back.

A new owner took over this restaurant and refurbished completely. It was nice to see a new restaurant full of customers. I like the coloured round sofas around the big tables and the bar area. It looks much more spacious than before. Food is much better too and the menu' has some different dishes from the "normal Indian menu". Very good food, very good service. We will be back.
