Indish in Cambridge

Ordered a takeaway other the easter weekend and wont be going there again. All of the food was bland and tasteless, the lamb dupiaza tasted the same as the lamb jalfrezi, there was no difference between the dishes. The cheese and garlic nans had no cheese or garlic in them. Special rice was under cooked (rice was still hard) and tasteless. I contacted the manager re my feedback and said he would look into it. Still waiting for a call back........ They don't seemed to be bothered... not acceptable.

The food and service were very good. The only downside was that the acoustics were not very good, which made a group conversation (party of 7) difficult.

Clean, warm and contemporary with lovely staff and an extensive menu. We had our first visit to this very welcoming restaurant and we weren't disappointed. Prices were quite high for the area and it was a pity that they charged extra for rice or naan with the curries, but what we ordered arrived quickly and was warm and well cooked. The stand out dish was the Lamb Shashlick Bhuna, which was generously portioned and tender. The disappointment was the Tawa Chicken, which was short on chicken and just a soft mush of not very tasty ingredients ..we definitely won't have that again. Service was excellent and our waitress was very friendly, but we wish she wrote our orders and requests down as we had to chase several items/requests, which she'd clearly forgotten for our family group. Unless you've got an absolutely perfect memory I'd rather servers just wrote my order down and saved me the annoyance of chasing missed items and special requests. Overall it was a good meal, though their prices mean it will be an occasional treat I'm sure anyone going there will enjoy their visit, just stick to the traditional menu.

We ate here this evening, we had Popadums and Dips, two Mains, Naan and drinks. The staff were courteous and welcoming, not overly rushed to take the order but we weren’t in a hurry and sometimes it’s nice to take time. We were given the choice to sit where we wanted and the decor and appearance of the Restaurant was clean and pleasant. The food was freshly prepared and tasty, we didn’t have any issues with our order, helpings we’re good and represented pretty good value in our opinion. We are visitors to the area, if we come back in the future we would be likely to revisit Indish, if we lived here we’d be regulars I think.

Food was very pleasant and testy. Service is very good and polite. Good variety of dishes. A bit cold near the main entrance as thee is no porch.

Just so you all know, you are ordering from an extremely misogynistic business. They left a comment on my personal instagram account, victim blaming me. Not knowing me or the circumstances of my experience, they have clearly shown the opinion they have of women in general. Therefore, if you have any respect for yourself as a woman, for your mom, sister, aunt, grandma or daughter etc, you will avoid this place at all costs. They need to learn their lesson - this behaviour is completely unacceptable. P.S. I have proof, tripadvisor doesn’t let me upload screenshots

Our food was top notch, probably as good as any Indian food we’ve had in the past, unfortunately the restaurant didn’t have enough staff the night we went so extremely slow, they did apologise when we were leaving

I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala and the Naga Lamb online to collect. They were ready ahead of the collection time. Both were delicious and generous portions. The Naga Lamb was well spiced with chilli. The service was friendly and efficient.

Probably one of the best curries we have had of late. Freshly cooked and good portion size. Polite and attentive staff. Would have no hesitation in revisiting and recommending this restaurant. Only disappointed was it closed at 10.00pm on a weekday. That aside five stars. Keep up the good work 👍

Used to be good but takeaways are poor compared to when you sit in. Not sure who cooks the takeaway food but it’s definitely not the chef who cooks the food when you sit in.

Based on reviews we placed an order for a takeaway from Indish. It was delivered quickly but the meal was a surprising disappointment. Starting on a high note the rice and naan were nice, but all the curry dishes were tasteless. The sauces were unsophisticated and the chicken was bland, tough, stringy and well over cooked. It made us think of left overs from a chicken dinner that had been plopped into a curry sauce (that was over sugary or under spiced) the following day and microwave reheated for too long. Based on other reviews we don't know what went wrong but, unfortunately, as regular curry eaters it was the worst curry we've had for many months or years.

This is an unassuming restaurant in Cherry Hinton. Lovely, attentive staff. Interesting menu. Walk ins are welcome but bookings advised for a Friday night.

Friendly service, good value and tasty food. Definitely recommend the gobi manchurian - delicious! Not sure what more you want from your local Indian?! Lovely!

Had takeaway from this restaurant, The lamb biryanis was excellent and so is the chicken. Just the right balance of spices. Flavourful and yet not too strong for our taste. The vegetables curries that come with it as sides is equally good.

Hi usually really excellent but tonight New Year’s Eve I place my order online at 8.50am knowing it would be busy I’ve rung twice and they used the excuse they are busy as New Year’s Eve our meal was booked for 6.30 pm it still hadn’t arrived at 820pm when I rang again they used same excuse ,when I said maybe you could have rung to tell us it was going to be late I was told we are busy when I said maybe you should shut your online down if you can’t cope I was told it will be there here we are still waiting no meal yet .we have used you all threw lockdown when you have been open but feel now maybe it’s time to go else where also In between lockdowns we have been in to restaurant very unhappy customer’s

I have had a lot of curry in my life and used Indish for the first time recently. I loved it and it reminded me of the curry of my youth and childhood which can be hard to find these days. I will be going back for sure :-)It was very good value and the quality of the chicken was top notch- Thanks

Waited a while to be seated and was not busy. Service was slow and not very friendly. Food was lovely however. My main problem was the waiter not wearing a face covering at all.

Didn’t feel welcome,took 10 mins to see us in.Only 4 other diners in but waited nearly 45 mins for food.Not friendly,shame used to feel the opposite when it was Sitar.

Ordered a takeaway here whilst stopping in area. After paying asked for VAT receipt for expenses as no vat number on copy they handed me. After couple of minutes scrabbling around manager told me that they didn’t charge vat on food. What he meant was...

The waitors here are lovely, however if you are looking for a traditional Indian restaurant this isn't it. The food was really bland. We ordered a take away and I had to wait 20 minutes past my allocated time slot.

Just cost £49,45 for the meal that was disgusting lamb so tuff couldn’t chew Chicken biryani was so dry the rice was clumped together all the curry’s were the same should have been 3 different ones. The best thing was the nan bread that cost...

I've been here a few times as it's local to me. They have kingfisher and cobra on draught (so many places around only have bottles). The food is really decent too - everything you'd expect from a curry house. Prices are comparable to anywhere else...

This is a modern Indian restaurant with a vast menu. The food was delicious but best of all was the fantastic service. Great value for money.

Superb value, best Lamb Vindaloo and Biryani in Cambridge. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Dont feel the need to go to bigger establishments...this will do just perfectly.

i remember a couple off years ago a wrote a review about the sitar restaurant i visited 3 times and every time it was very poor last night 2nd august decided to give indish an online order it was 40 pounds my meal a chicken ceylon rice and bombay potatoes it was absolutely rubbish ive had this meal from hundreds of restaraunts over the last 40 years and this meal was the worst ever my mate had a lamb jalfrezi the lamb was as tough as old boots ive contacted them of which was a waste of time they were not interested at all any body reads this review avoid at all costs

Went to the Indish as part of my village Curry Club and we were not disappointed.Really tasty Indian food freshly cooked.This place used to be called the Sitar which was good then went downhill. New Management brought the place and my what an improvement. All your traditional Indian dishes on the menu plus indish Signature Dishes.I had the Hariana Lamb which was historic. The service was friendly and welcoming with prompt food delivery.You can even book online.We all really enjoyed our meals and are definitely coming back real soon and so should you. 5 Stars well deserved

It's a while since I visited this Indian restaurant in Cherry Hinton (previously called the Sitar) but it was a very pleasant surprise. The interior has been re-vamped and is very pleasing (a big change) the food was good and the service while attentive, allowed our table to relax and enjoy our great conversations without being rushed at all. A good night was had by all in my party, I won't leave it so long before I go again.

Having give this restaurant 3 opportunities to get it right we have decided that we won’t be back. 3 tables were eating when we arrived with no one waiting, we waited over 30 minutes for our food after placing the order. When it arrived the plates were cold, the serving dishes were cold and the food was barely warm. It really is time that these issues were sorted. We didn’t bother complaining this time as the last two complaints haven’t been listened to, we’ll have to vote with our feet.

We hadn't been here since it changed hands and thought we'd give it a go. The interior has been refurbished which is a lot nicer and the staff are very polite and friendly. The food is lovely so we will be returning here can highly recommend.

My wife and I have used this restaurant to both eat out with friends or collect take aways several times during the past year or so. We have always enjoyed great food and very friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Been here a few times over a couple of years when I've been in Cherry Hinton and this place has always done a good curry whether I was with friends or family it has always been an enjoyable experience. However it had deteriorated slightly the last couple of times, not by much but just noticeably enough. The service had never been a particularly strong suit either though never bad admittedly. It was an all round decent curry house though.Was in the mood for a curry whilst my dad was down in the area and notices it had changed name. The inside is much more vibrant and improved compared to what it was. The menu has a much better lay out and the service was good. It was relatively quiet but it was a Tuesday night and the place isn't that big to start with. The food including the sides were great. Didn't wait long. My dad & I really enjoyed it whilst we had a nice catch-up. Overall a really good revamp, whether or not it maintains this, only time will tell but to anyone in the Cherry Hinton area, this is currently a really good curry house.

Visited Indish for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. I loved the scaled back menu and all the flaws great quality. Will defiantly come back.

Following my third visit to this newly reopened restaurant,I have to say that the food is fresh,delicious and reasonably priced. Waiters are friendly,polite and very helpful,without being intrusive. My friends and I have enjoyed our visits and came away feeling happy and satisfied. The ambience has also improved,and despite limited space, the hygiene standard is high. Always seems to be popular,so reserving table online is a must. There are also expanded services with a new lunch menu,and takeaway option.

This was for many years The Sitar which I rated as my favourite Indian restaurant but then it slowly deteriorated and I stopped going. I decided to try it again as I had heard that it had completely changed. It has now been revamped with new decor including coloured bubble tanks and back lit walls, with a new chef. I can now say that it is back to what it was and is now back at the top of my list. The food, staff and ambiance are excellent.

We went to Indish after being informed that the sitar had changed hands and had been completely redecorated and revamped. The restaurant has completely changed and for the better too.The menu has been completely changed and is broken down with Chefs recommendations, traditional and Indish signatures dishes.Tandoori dishes are also available.Really nice environment, seeing as we were the only table in the place we waited too long for the food which i hope will improve with time. Food was generally good, I had a Naga Lamb and to tell the truth i have had better but the group rated the food has very good. I think this place will improve with time and we will defiantly give it another go again in the not so distant future.
