Celiac, so excited to have a menu that I could order anything from. Amazing food, and a real treat.

A real treat because everything on the menu is gluten-free and dairy-free.

It’s been the first time in years that our family members with gluten and dairy sensitivities could order off of a full menu. We know it’s very difficult to procure a fine dining menu without wheat or milk products. But the chef has done an amazing job creating delicious dishes that don’t disappoint. I would highly recommend this establishment for the food and amazing service

We three friends went for a pre-theatre meal. On entering we were lucky that the helpful gentleman on the front desk showed us how to get to the restaurant. We were given a lovely tabke by the window and opted for the set menu for theatre diners. I ordered a delicious martini and my friends had a carafe of red wine. We all started with the smoked salmon, which was delicious and there was gluten-free bread as well. We had different main courses, my venison was fine but a little tough and over cooked. The desserts were gorgeous - creme brulee and cheesecake. We ordered some more wine during the meal, I had a single malt whiskey and we ended with coffees. The price of the drinks pushed the bill up by a lot. I guess that's how they make their profit but it seemed excessive, we ended up paying around £120 per head. Service was lovely and we all said we would return.

Our first time ! It was Sunday afternoon so it was not as lively which was great ! Food was fantastic and the service matched. Will definitely go back !

Food was excellent although wine was overpriced cheapest bottle starting at £60. The beef and venison was excellent.

This is a high end restaurant in a beautiful building - but everything is gluten and dairy free. Any diners that might object to this - frankly wouldn't even notice - as everything tastes as good as if it was packed with gluten and dairy. However, for those with any allergies or intolerances, who are starved of comfort food like "fish and chips", this place is a marvel. Well done! Also some nice English wines (along with an international selection) and overall not overly pricey. Well done!

A perfect birthday dinner for two diners with dietary restrictions!

Service We had a birthday dinner and did the tasting menu. Service was great - very attentive. You could get many extras for no extra charge, when I asked for more bread they unasked gave me the recipe to make it at home as I pointed out how great the gluten free bread was. I also got a free birthday cake. It was all done very appropriate for a celebration meal and the waiter was well trained joking around and making you comfortable. Food We had the set tasting menu and it tasted great. It was a highlight for the person with intollerance as well as the normal guest. It had the most expensive items on the menu included in the tasting and you could really get the whole tour of the menu in one. The portion size was generous and we were quiet full afterwards. It felt like a very pleasant fine dinning experience with elevated plating and cooking methods. We particularly enjoyed the scallops and the venison. Ambience It is legere and comfortable but you feel not out of place if you dress up or down. The restaurant is quieter and you can focus more on your table but the bar is also pleasant and you can talk over the music and it is comfortable to sit there for a while just talking away and getting free bar snacks included.

Service is slow and unprofessional. Staff needs to be trained properly to match the food and dining setting that is being served. Despite the poor service, food is spectacular both in presentation and taste. 15% discretionary service fee.

The ambience was great - mezzanine overlooking the bar. Had booked a taster menu based on website, but when sitting down, it was clear that the taster menu had shellfish which my wife is allergic to. There was no variation to this. We went a la carte. Food was good but very pricey for what it was - £42 for fish and chips. Service was ok. The wedding anniversary chocolate dessert was a nice touch. We had an good overall dinner but it was not as special as I had hoped for a 25 year anniversary.

Traveling internationally with a severe gluten allergy and lactose intolerance is challenging to say the least. I was beyond excited when I saw the story behind Indigo restaurant and cannot express how absolutely amazing it is to be able to look at an entire menu and know that I can safely eat everything on it. That aside, the food went above my expectations. The staff were friendly, helpful and made me feel so comfortable as a table for one. I will absolutely visit again on every trip to London in the future! 5 stars for every aspect!

My wife and I had dinner last night and everything was excellent. She has a gluten and dairy sensitivity. For her to be able to select anything on the menu and not have to adjust or modify is outstanding. We visited the restaurant last year when visiting London and had to return on this trip.

We had a fantastic and very romantic evening here before going to see a show! The staff was very attentive, kind and helpful and the food was fantastic. Very relaxing dining experience - make sure to block off a couple hours for the full experience.

This is my favourite restaurant in London. Impeccable service, wonderful food and non-alcoholic options! Being gluten-free I can enjoy a high standard of food, get handmade bread (most restaurants do not do this for their GF customers) and divine desserts.

Had roast beef and trimmings which was delicious The seasonal crumble was excellent and house red merlot likewise. The restaurant is expensive but I would still recommend a visit.The pre theatre menu seems good value but is not always available.

Food was great; a good choice on the Pre-Theatre menu, including a vegan option for starter, main and dessert. All staff were friendly and professional. Service was faultless. Restaurant and toilet facilities were immaculate.

Excellent for coeliacs - all gluten free - no stress

I have a number of food intolerances, including gluten, and it was wonderful to eat fabulous food at a restaurant where I didn't need to worry! The staff were really helpful and went out of their way to modify the food around what I couldn't eat. This in it's own right is a fantastic restaurant with wonderful food, but to cater for food intolerances/allergies in the way it does is outstanding. I just wish I lived closer and could visit more often.

If I could give this restaurant 6 stars, I absolutely would. Indigo is one of my favourite - if not THE favourite - restaurants worldwide. The fact the entire establishment is gluten free AND dairy free is mind-blowing. As someone who is gluten and lactose intolerant, yet still indulges in other animal products, the offerings on the menu are perfectly tailored to my tastebuds and dietary requirements. The food is inventive, fresh, and flavourful. On the menu, you can find high-quality GF + DF versions of usually wheat-and-dairy filled British classics, such as Fish and Chips and Wellingtons, and more modern fare, such as Grilled Spiced Monkfish and Quail Balotine. I also appreciate the commitment to seasonal and sustainable cooking practices. I've dined here with people who don't avoid gluten and dairy, and they have also adored their meals. They are not excellent for GF/DF items - they are excellent and happen to be GF/DF. I absolutely need to highlight the homemade bread and dairy-free butter. I dream of it. I ate my roll and the entire butter spread so quickly, that my server brought me over two extra portions. I ate both of them immediately. They're that good! The atmosphere in the space is cozy and intimate, and the serve is superb. Truly a standout restaurant in London, especially for those with particular dietary requirements. A must!

Excellent pre-theatre location forThe Tina Turner Musical at the Aldwych theatre. We spent £100.00 per head for a four course meal with a delicious bottle of Sauvignon Blanc and still water. Service was very attentive.

Terrific restaurant with excellent service - the menu is fully gluten and dairy free and the food was absolutely delicious - it was so lovely for one member of the group who is coeliac to be able to choose any of the dishes and the rest of us who don't have any food intolerances enjoyed the food hugely! Great restaurant for Coeliacs and gluten sensitive diners

So refreshing to find a venue catering for dietary requirements-even beyond the stated GF and DF. The service was wonderful. Lovely friendly staff. Food was delicious. Knocked the score down on value as I felt the price a bit excessive for a very small bit of lamb and tiny starter. Even on London standards. However it was sublime and we very much enjoyed our visit. The little birthday surprise for my sister was lovely too.

Wonderful fine dining, with the added benefit that my gluten-free and dairy-free mother could eat anything from the menu without having to worry about what she was eating - she was so happy!

We had the pre-theatre menu of smoked salmon starter, grilled monkfish main and bitter chocolate tart dessert. It was all very good although the monkfish could have done with a sauce as it was a bit bland.

This place is beautiful and the food was fabulous. I have to eat gluten and dairy-free, and you have no idea how much it means to have a menu where I can order ANYTHING! But my three dining companions had no dietary restrictions and all loved the food!

We ate here as a couple pre theatre. The setting is lovely but you eat the food not the furniture. It took a long time to order drinks when we arrived. My partner had the tomato starter, lamb and the brûlée, these were good. I had the salmon which was too salty for me, the monk fish which was well cooked but bland and the chocolate tart. This dessert had large salt granules under a chocolate disc on the top of hit. The salt hit with a mouth full was really unpleasant. We should have gone next door for pizza.

We had a very nice dinner at Indigo, the food was very well presented and tasteful. Drink prices are quite expensive (especially the wine) but even with that in mind we would definitely go there again.

Lovely meal - wanted somewhere safe for my friend who is coeliac and the food here was great, very tasty (especially the chips!) and although on the pricier side, the portion sizes were great and the service was excellent - would recommend!

Once again, we had a great experience at Indigo. This was our second time here, and it did not disappoint. It's not particularly kind to the wallet, but it's worth every penny. My wife has Coeliac disease, so this is one of the only restaurants in London where she can truly relax and enjoy eating out without the worry of cross-contamination—she is also dairy intolerant, and it is also dairy-free! The staff are brilliant, and we will be back many more times in the future!

This is always my restaurant of choice for any special occasion/theatre/day out in Central London. I am gluten free so being able to choose anything on the menu is so special and the homemade bread is such a treat I never get at any other restaurant. My partner isn't gluten free but agrees the food is some of the best on offer in London. Feels like a hidden gem in the centre of town. Always amazing service, thank you. We will definitely be back.

Went for lunch here because everything on the menu is gluten and dairy free and it was so good. My husband who has no allergies absolutely loved it too, delicious. Proper restaurant quality food and great service..

Desserts, appetizers and drinks had flavors out of this world, but 2 out of three main dishes were a bit bland- go with the lamb over the chicken and monkfish!

Stunning! I am gluten free and we wanted I really nice meal for our 20th wedding anniversary – We found it at Indigo! The whole menu is gluten and dairy free. The food was cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious! We had the tasting menu – Wonderful. Cocktails were lovely too. Leroy was excellent – Very attentive and friendly. They even gave us an anniversary chocolate cake. Would highly recommend. Lovely atmosphere on the mezzanine.

We were staying in London for a few nights and wanted somewhere that catered for my gluten intolerance in the knowledge I could relax without being worried about becoming ill. Having read other reviews we decided to book this restaurant for an evening meal. We were served delicious warm gluten free bread rolls complimentary, and enjoyed them so much, we were offered more. For starters we had the scallops, salmon, followed by fish and chips and chicken. Desserts, we had chocolate tart. The food was amazing and service was excellent too. We cannot wait to return back.

Loved this restaurant , yes it’s dairy and gluten free (all dishes) but it even impressed my normal partner. The service was attentive but personable , we were never rushed or sat waiting for wine! Will be going back to try their Yorkshire puddings !

We Returned to my wife’s favourite restaurant last night for another wonderful dinner. We introduced our friends to the excellent food and they loved it! We always feel great after eating here. My wife is gluten and dairy free and the beauty of this delightful restaurant is that every thing is always gluten and dairy free so you don’t have to make any compromises. You also don’t have to feel left out or different because of your intolerances. 

Wonderful birthday celebration meal with vegan and GF options

My daughter has coeliac disease, and it was so wonderful to be able to have an excellent dinner without having to worry about the multiple food requirements and allergies in our party. The biggest thing for me though was, how kind our waiter Leroy, and the rest of the team was with my mother-in-law. She's extremely unwell, but we really wanted her to be part of the birthday celebration, and she was so well cared for. A blanket, and pillows were brought to make her comfortable, and nothing was too much. Well done Indigo, you made our evening so special with your great food and kindness.

Aa someone who can't eat gluten or dairy, I found Indigo to be the most wonderful, relaxing experience. For the first time in years I could just enjoy the experience of eating out and choose whatever I wanted from the tasty list of dishes. Friendly and attentive staff, delicious food, imaginative cocktails and the best gluten free bread I've ever been given in a restaurant. We will definitely be back!

Booked for my partners 40th Birthday and didn’t realise the entire menu and tasting menu is Gluten Free - blew my mind, didn’t realise until we arrived which made this even more amazing. Lovely meal and service by staff. Had the pre-theatre menu, two courses and some sides. You would not know the food was gluten and dairy free, it was all delicious and full of flavour, as you imagine things made with butter would taste. The freshly baked bread rolls were so yummy, with a delicious seaweed infused butter, very moreish! A real gem of a restaurant if you are looking for a special meal that’s gluten and dairy free.

The kerb appeal of the Aldwych is stunning and the interior divine. From the moment we arrived we were treated like welcomed, valued guests by every member of staff we came into contact with. This place offers hospitality at its very best. We had wine in the bar first, as we were early. Then we enjoyed a 3 course pre dinner meal which was not only beautifully presented but also delicious. We sat up on the mezzanine overlooking the bar which was lovely. Me and my friend can't think you all enough, for our perfect experience with you.

Delicious food, great service, wine a little pricey!

We had the tasting menu which was a visual feast as well as delicious. I also went for wine pairing, which was superb. I need gluten free so it was wonderful for the whole menu to be both gluten and dairy free. We were celebrating my birthday and the restaurant provided a slice of chocolate cake with Happy Birthday icing at the end of the meal, which was a really nice touch. Our waiter was both knowledgeable and fun. We really had a lovely experience and can’t wait to visit again.

Indigo is a wonderful restaurant. Surroundings extremely comfortable and stylish. Food of excellent quality and very well prepared and served. Staff and service friendly and professional. For people with gluten and dairy allergies the menu is a delight. All dishes are safe to eat. A great place for small and larger gatherings. Everyone catered for.

I booked for the set menu and i cannot rate Indigo highly enough. i booked only one day in advance, granted it was a tuesday, but still managed to get what i would say was the best seat in the house, lovely big table for just the two of us in the mezzanine overlooking the bar. from the moment i walked in i was greeted with the smiles faces, and warmest welcome. they offered to store our bags and coats, seated me promptly and warmly before describing the story behind the cocktail menu. i have the ginger one and my mum the blueberry, forgive me i cannot remember the names, and while a little pricy, for the creativity and quality i was not disappointed. i started with the ham hock and my mum had the tomato’s and both were fresh, light and summery. next we had the steak and sole and these were definitely the stand out dishes. while we were in a rush and disappointed not to have time for dessert, which i can only imagine to have been just as wonderful, since it was my mums birthday they brought out a cake and candle which was such a kind surprise. we needed to catch a train and the concierge were so kind in flagging us a cab. the whole evening was an absolute treat and i will certainly be returning to celebrate more special occassions at Indigo. Particular stand out was our waiter, Leroy, who was kind, helpful and always attentive throughout the evening. such professionalism was shown from all the staff but if our thanks could be passed onto him directly that would be lovely. a truly sensational waiter who showed the utmost skill and enjoyment for his job.

Great find -went there for pre-Theatre dinner, all gluten -free, lovely elegant restaurant, beautiful food and perfect service ! Especially Leroy who was an absolute delight .

My family ate there because it was a lovely hotel, unfortunately we were disappointed by the incorrect temperature of the steak. Love the fact that it was a gluten free menu.

The restaurant is situated on a mezzanine above the lounge of the One Aldwych Hotel with a lot of natural light and ambience. The food is always of a very good quality and served well. The set menu is reasonable value with a two or three course option. The 3 of us all had a main course form the A La Carte menu which were well prepared and cooked, without being outstanding. The restaurant is very well located for theatres at the Aldwych corner of Covent Garden (Drury Lane etc) and offers a fine dining experience compared with a lot of the tourist rubbish in that area.

Great service. Chose the tasting menu, and all the courses were explained. Everything is gluten and diary free, so it's great that every dish is available without having to refer to an allergens book. All some really interesting cocktails, too.

Being coeliac and dairy intolerant means eating out at a restaurant can be a challenge, with little choice or understanding by staff. To be able to go out and eat anything from the menu was such a wonderful experience so we went for it with the taster menu. The food was exceptional and the wine outstanding. Years later and Indigo remains my top favourite for gluten/dairy free meals. The ONE place I can eat in and leave feeling fantastic. What I respect most is the fact the food centers around whole foods - real balanced meals, rather than refined and fried foods as is common with gluten-free. Menu is seasonal, which is a plus and creative with subtle flavours. Their desserts are also fantastic, perfect amount of sweetness. If you value great nourishing food and a proper dining experience, do not hesitate to go!

Great food for gluten free & dairy free. You don't have to dress up, but I wouldn't go casual either.

One of best meals I’ve ever had! I am celiac and dairy free so it was incredibly relaxing being able to share and enjoy a meal with my family for a change! Everything on the lunch menu was gluten and dairy free, with so many fresh choices, as well as vegan and vegetarian options too. We were there for lunch which opens from 12:30, and the service was lovely and very speedy. The restaurant is on the mezzanine floor of the hotel and very easy to access, with a really relaxing atmosphere, looking over the beautiful lobby bar. The location is great as the restaurant is within walking distance of all the main theatres. The gluten free bread was served warm with seaweed butter which was an amazing combination. The meal offered so many unique flavour combinations that we’d never had before, we especially love the saffron mayonnaise and whipped cream horseradish. We also got surprised with a gf/df cake for my family member’s birthday which we all loved. The meal was such a unique experience and we will definitely be coming back!

It is incredibly hard to fine a venue that truly understands the meaning of 'gluten free'. When we discovered that Indigo is totally gluten free (and dairy free) we couldn't wait for an excuse for us to try it out. Living with coeliacs is usually a life constantly questioning staff over ingredients and preparation and frequently resulting in a limited menu with also the caveat that there remains a risk of contamination. It was such a lovely evening being normal and not having to interrogate the staff or be constantly on alert for mistakes (we've been subject to a few). Delighted to have a full choice on the a la carte and tasting menu the ingredients are also from trusted, British independent producers with seasonal and sustainable cooking. We chose the tasting menu, and one dish was easily substituted due to a preference without any fuss. They also surprised our daughter with a special Birthday dessert. The food was exceptional in both taste and presentation. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The setting was smart and comfortable with interesting art pieces dotted around. We will be returning.
