An absolute delight! Visited with my mum over the August BH weekend for a dinner. Place was busy BUT - the owner himself and his team made sure all the guests were promptly attended to and looked after. The team/staff were polite and smiling. We personally enjoy the sizzling dishes and their fish tikka did not disappoint with soft chapatis, crispy poppadums, delicious pickles and chutneys. Will visit again if and when I go back to Bournemouth.

Was in Bournemouth for a long week-end and I'm so lucky this restaurant was on my doorstep. I'm a vegetarian and I thought the food was outstanding, one of the best I've ever had. The service was very good, and management very efficient. Nice and spacious inside. Price was very reasonable.

Very good and attentive service. Great! The food - here Chicken Vindaloo - was spicy but not too spicy. The chef came especially to explain the level of spiciness. Class! The location (busy street) and the ambience, including the music that was a bit too loud, were still ok. - overall highly recommended - 4.8 stars for me!

Visited on a busy Saturday night and was glad we had pre- booked. We both enjoyed our curries mine was lamb achari and I must say it’s the nicest curry I have had in a long time . My husband had chicken tikka shatkira which was also good. There were a few mistakes but quickly rectified, the garlic was burned in one dish, giving that horrid pungent taste, there was no hesitation recooking the dish. Then I was charged for a glass of wine I didn’t get, again sorted straight away. All in all a good night with fantastic food,

Ordered mattar paneer and naans for myself, but the curry was having very less salt making it less tasteful.. I am from India and in my lifetime eaten in many indian restaurants, therefore the expectation was high and also the time taken was quite high, almost 20-25 minutes for take away.

Went for dinner and ordered drinks first which was a Budweiser beer and lime soda. After taking few sips found that the beer was expired (on 31st July). Then i was told to get another brand instead. Ordered vegetarian kadhai paneer, okra curry as sides, garlic naan and tandoori roti. Kadhai paneer is very expensive 16 pounds and was not even close to kadhai panner taste. Okra curry was salty and okra was very bad quality and hard. Naan was hard and thick. So i would not recommend this restaurant for food at all and the negligence for serving expired products. The service was nice but the food is very average and expensive.

Came here as a birthday treat, we had only just been seated and hadn't even had time to look at the menu and the wait staff were hovering over us to take our order, (I appreciate being eager to serve but there's such a thing as breathing space). We ordered poppadoms, came with dips which was unexpected, the chutney was delicious however the mains took a very long time to arrive. Food was on par with take away, nice but nothing special the rice was large enough for two people in my opinion. Was given a hot towellette and an After 8 mint by the lovely lady working there, which i imagine was supposed to counterbalance the 10% service charge that was not advertised or explained at any point. Overall I would say it's overpriced for what you get and the man I'm assuming is the owner needs to stop making people feel rushed, it will lose you customers.

Went for dinner with my boyfriend last night and it was amazing. Excellent food, great atmosphere and very nice staff. Special thanks to the boss, who gave us the best table and even gifted us a beer glass for our collection ☺️ Thank you, Shamal!

Great food, nice atmosphere but most importantly a friendly and attentive team that really cares about their customers. We dined midweek/early evening and the place was packed - a testament to the food and service. This place deserves every success.

Reaturant was nice and busy when we arrived, we were shown to our seats promptly. Food was really nice and fresh and tasted amazing, interior and exterior is really nice and modern and everything was clean. Biriyani was a bit too greasy for our liking

Well, the staff need to have some manners. If you are trying to run a fine dining and don’t know how to talk with customers. These older guys as a service staffs needs to be changed.

What a fantastic restaurant! Arrrived at 8 without a reservation, and it was packed. We popped for a drink at the local pub The Hop and went back at 8.30 to be promply seated and served the most delicious indian cuisine evet. Fantastiv food, grest vibe, superb staff and service. Everything was wonderful. Highly recommended. Thanl you so much for a great evening.

Been here before a couple of years ago it was good then when visiting Bournemouth. Visited in July 2024 and the curry was delicious. So good we went back again 2 nights later for another one. Only gripe I have it’s a little bit overpriced. But the curry sauces and the chicken are Delicious. Highly recommend the Madras and Vindaloo. Even on a hot night! In Bournemouth for the day and we both fancied a curry before leaving. Choose this place due to it being the second highest Trip Advisor rated Indian in the area. The first was over in Westbourne and is part of the same ownership. Didn’t book given we planned to walk in at just after 5pm and it was a good sign that there were a few tables already there and people kept coming in steadily. It looked a clean and modern restaurant. Menus clear especially dietary requirements (gf especially important). Typical (to us) range of choices. Service was prompt and polite. We shared a couple of curries plain rice and I had a plain naan. For us the food was temperature hot and tasty and portion sizes were good. We were in and out in less than 90 minutes to begin our 3 hour journey home. Will definitely return in the future.

Had a lovely meal here on Saturday night. Food was sizzling when it arrived, really tasty. A very relaxed atmosphere with plenty of space and attentive, gentle, kind staff. Asked for a mushroom korma, expecting there to be a small amount of mushrooms but it was loaded. Exactly what I wanted! Our whole meal was really yummy and we would come back again. Only downside is its a little pricey.

Not very good and authentic Asian. Names of dishes were complete contrast of what you get. Lamb tawa and chicken tawa had cheese in it. Who does that?

We visited the Indian Ocean Restaurant in Bournemouth with our family and had a terrible experience. The staff were extremely rude and inattentive. When we arrived, no one provided us with plates. We had to specifically request them, and even then, they only brought a few. We had to ask again to get enough plates for everyone. The starters arrived without any sauce or chutney. When we asked for these, they brought out large bottles of sauce in a very disrespectful manner. It felt like they were doing us a favour rather than providing good service. The staff, including possibly the owner, treated us poorly. They spoke to us in Urdu/Hindi, assuming we couldn't communicate in English. We hadn't spoken to them in Hindi/Urdu or placed our order in Urdu /Hindi, so this was presumptuous and inappropriate. Overall, our experience at the Indian Ocean Restaurant in Bournemouth was so bad that we decided to leave without having dinner. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, especially those from the Asian community, due to the rudeness of the staff.

Food was bland, service was very poor, staff were rude and the restaurant was very disorganised. Was not very busy when i went for my meal but overall i am not impressed and will not go there again. I was hoping for a 3 course meal but left after my starters.

3 out of the 4 dishes we had were alright. The last dish was horrible. We ordered TM and it tasted like ketchup!. The owner was very kind and gave a full refund for it. However the place is massively overpriced Vs the amount and quality of the food. We would have paid 98 pounds for 4 meals which were sub-par and one was awful. Won't return but thankyou for the polite attitude.

Don't expect authentic Indian food, it's just plain and taste less food for Britons. Biryani is not actual biryani but chicken pulav.

An ok Indian restaurant, food was ok can't fault it, didn't have any wow factor, standard fare. No real complaints.

The service was lovely and very catering for. The food looked delicious, however, the tofu must have been old or the chicken not as well cooked as I spent the evening throwing back up my food and I hadn’t had anything else for it to be anything other than this food. This is just a note to make sure the food is 100% in condition. At the time it was lovely!

Probably the best Indian meal we've had. We ordered the chicken tikka korhai and the masala. Both were delicious. Nan bread was so light and hot. The staff were very friendly and courteous. Beer was cold and fresh. Definitely recommend to anyone.

The food was lovely, full of taste. Staff were great, too. If anyone likes lime pickle, this place severs the best lime pickle I've tasted.

No indoor seating but the food was sooo very good we needed to give 5 stars all round. The outside isn't pretty but all our 7 take away meals last night were outstanding. Thank you so much, its been a pleasure

Eat here before food is good can't fault that however twice in a row now we have barely sat down and they hound you to order not even a drink offered as yet. Place was quiet so not sure on the rush. Literally every 2 minutes coming over and always walking by your table it makes you very uncomfortable. First time just accepted it paid a nice bill to tune of £130+ but last night this happened again I asked what's the rush we have just sat down not even had chance to look at menu and so it continued so we just paid for the drink we ordered and left. Such a massive shame as food is really nice. Sadly won't use again as not even an apology offered

Beautiful place with excellent food and amazingly warm service. Starters till mains and that beautiful coconut ice cream served in a half shelled coconut to finish our meal was out of the blues. A must visit for everyone, and nevertheless the host has been great throughout our meal and service.

Early January, so sadly very empty. So lacking in atmosphere through no fault of the restaurant. Indian music in the background, which I like. Comfortable chairs, clean stable tables. Good location, big windows along the restaurant front. Staff were friendly and attentive. Bit of a language/ understanding struggle. Make sure you are clear about what you want. Generous food portions, really good quality and flavour, very nicely cooked. If we were local we would use this place regularly.

It was a very very rainy evening this early December. We were only passing by Bournemouth and we’re craving for Indian food. The restaurant is bright and nicely decorated. The service is excellent. The food is all right but nothing exceptional. The naan was probably not cooked in a tandoor. The chicken tikka masala was a bit strange. Far too smooth and sweet sauce. Not what we’re used to. But if you’ve never been to India maybe that’s what people expect… Anyway not the best but not the worst either.

Booked an early table before leona lewis concert as the restaurant is just a 5 Min walk from the BIC car park. The poppadoms were the best I've had .... ever. Freshly cooked and melted onnthe tongue. Plentiful chopped onions and pickles too We like to try something different and the curry didn't disappoint. I had Achora with slithers of ginger and tomatoes. My husband had the hot Pina with lamb and hardboiled egg. It had a nice flavour and after kick. Service was excellent and quick as we needed to get to the concert. By the time we left at 7.15pm it was packed. Definitely return again

My wife and I ate here on a Monday evening. The restaurant was pretty quiet so no issue getting a good table. The staff were very attentive without hovering and the service was paced well. The food itself was superb and as good as any BIR food I have eaten. We are looking forward to visiting again soon.

Shame my jalfrezi only had 4 small pieces of chicken in it. The front of house gentleman should be in the kitchen perhaps as his interpersonal skills with us were non existent. Place was clean and tidy. There are much better Indian restaurants.

The hosts of the restaurant are welcoming. The food is incredibly over priced even by today’s standards. £4.95 for a portion of chips is obscene really same for a portion of rice. Typical standard curry will set you back at least £13. Appreciate it’s a seaside town but it’s really not worth the prices they’re charging. Other restaurants nearer the town are better priced with equal quality or better. However they do give you proper servings of pickle tray compared to any other restaurant I have visited.

The device was amazing . We had a one year old with our group , a high chair was provided abd every effort made to cook food suitable for him. Our meals were superb and served in good time piping hot and delicious . You could taste how fresh it all was . We will definitely return , nicest Indian restaurant I have been too ever . The order was delayed so arrived 20 minutes after the original time given. We ordered two pickle trays (1 per person) and an extra mango chutney. We only received one pickle tray which was not enough for three of us. The meals were quite spicy. I ordered a korma which is usually mild and was stated as mild but was more of a medium heat and I couldn’t finish it. I ate about a third and had to leave it. The Rogan Josh and chicken tikka main meal were also stronger in spice and therefore hotter. Th

A nice Indian restaurant. We booked a table, but there still tables free if we'd been a walk in. Gets very busy on a Friday night. Offered both Kingfisher and Cobra beers. Some previous photos had shown red and white chairs, but I didn't see them (fortunately!).

We ate several dishes (lamb and chicken) and everything was just delicious. The staff was kind. The wine was amazing. I‘d say this is the best Indian restaurant in town.

Ordered chicken tikka masala. Received lamb tikka masala. Decided to eat it as it was really good. Told waiter my order was incorrect but very nice and could he let the kitchen know. Was ignored. Lovely food. Service not so good. Was expensive too. Asked for water for table, did not receive.

First time visit, the staff were very accommodating as 2 people in our family are disabled and needed a space big enough for wheelchair access. The food was delicious. Everybody enjoyed their meal. The staff were friendly and provided a great service. The restaurant was very busy for a Thursday evening which is always a good sign. I would definitely recommend the fish tikka sizzling dish, my mum does not like spicy food but commented on how delicious it was. Prices a little more expensive than other Indian restaurants we have eaten at but the food was good quality, will be certain to visit again.

Great tasting food, excellent service

Not the fault of the restaurant I don't think but the delivery driver was very sheepish when I asked him how it had taken 30 minutes to travel less than 1.5 miles. When I suggested he had been to multiple drop offs first he claimed not to understand. My food was lukewarm and therefore I did not enjoy it as much as I should have.

This is the very worse and rude service as i seen soo far in UK, they behave like i asked for free food. Instead going there and getting irritated by the front of house staff alternatively we can go to mcdonalds and buy nuggets. Worst service and average food, don’t go and waste your money.
