Conceited arrogance. Simply they sent us the wrong order, it was way too hot and went in the bin. Phones them up 3 time and left messages, no reply. When we got through they asked why did it take so long to complain, seriously! Took no responsibility, said they never get things wrong, blamed Uber Eats, who is the supplier here? Reason I never went back to their over rated restaurant was because I had a huge, dead, bluebottle in my chutney one time. No apologies then either.

Honestly the best restaurant ever! Customer service on point and the food was to die for, definitely a customer for life x

Ordered take away online. Took over half an hour longer than time estimate. Bhuna watery, bland and chicken poor and chewy. Biriani arrived without the omelette (and most of it's spicing). Instantly forgettable - seems impossible to find an Indian restaurant in Tameside with a chef who can actually cook. PS: Third time I've used this place, they got the hat trick up. There's been something missing every time I've used them. Overpriced, overrated and over for me.

They are doing deliveries during lockdown. Just had a jalfreizi and a bhuna and we loved it! Delivery was prompt too

Change is as good as a rest we decided to try the Indian Ocean as it is local. Food arrived within the hour as we were told. Good start but that is where it ended. Popodoms were fine with an average chutney tray. Shami kebab i have had on numerous occasions but this was unlike anything eaten before. Small In size they were powdery in texture and any sign of meat absent. Saag paneer puri was a mixture on a overcooked chappati and as hard as nails. Main courses. Chicken Tikka Pathia was lacking in chicken. In fact when i opened the carton i thought it was just a sauce. Tasted okay but not the best i have had. Lamb chops were fine but the accompaning passanda sauce which is described as mild was far too spicy. We usually go to a local competitor so can only use it as a comparison. The meal was priced in the region of £10 more. Usually there it's enough to freeze a portion for maybe another occasion, not in this case. In fact the competitor even includes 2 free beers. So the difference is far in excess of £10 diffence if you take into account the extras you get elsewhere. Would I go again, no.

Just like to begin and say I’m new to tripadvisor, after visiting this restaurant last night I had to share my pleasant experience with you all. Excellent food and fantastic service. When we arrived at the restaurant we were pleasantly greeted at reception and taken to the table by our waiter. Would like to say really like the fact that you are assigned one waiter and they follow through with bringing your popadomms, drinks, taking your order all the way through to bringing you bill at the end of the evening. When out for a relaxing evening no-one likes being swamped by many different staff members coming over all the time and intruding like I’ve experienced in other local establishments. Our waiter was very pleasant and polite and always on hand to deal with our requests and take drinks orders etc. Think his name was Adeed. Also this place is very child friendly as I could see from another table and wouldn’t hesitate in bringing my kids here. Maybe for the Sunday buffet! Overall, really enjoyed the experience and will definitely be returning. Keep up the good work Indian Ocean and would love to see more young charismatic staff.

We went here tonight to celebrate a birthday, we'd never been before & I've got to admit I was impressed by everything, the staff, the service, the food. There were 30 of us & they handled our party no problem. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The food was excellent, we're already planning to go back. 👍

I’ve been using Indian Ocean for years now and can’t fault the food. However I have just found that they were given a rating of 1 for food hygiene in June. This sort of makes sense to me by the reaction my stomach always has the following day (and I’ve got a strong stomach). If you look it up this rating gives 3 categories Food Hygiene is poor, facility compliance is fair and confidence in management is “little”. About 3 years ago they stopped accepting card payments for takeaway food and it was never reinstated. All seems a bit dodgy to me so think I’ll give it a miss from now on until these two things are sorted out. The rating would be 5 for food but points dropped for the other things.

It was my first time at this restaurant after seeing a post on my Instagram a few days ago. I have tried many Indian restaurants in Manchester even the most prestigious ones on deans gate and I’ve never been as happy with the service as I have at the Indian Ocean. Young, friendly & energetic staff is the making of this place. Special thanks to the young gentleman with the curly hair and the lady with blonde hair. They were ever so welcoming and were always on hand to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. We were greeted with a warm welcome at reception and asked if we’d like a drink in the lounge or would prefer to go straight to our table. We decided to eat straight away as we were hungry lol. The young gentleman took us to our table, handed us the menus and asked if we’d like any poppadums and drinks. One thing I’d like to mention is this was a Saturday evening and the restaurant was quite busy and in most other restaurants this impacts on the service but Indian Ocean is the exception. The drinks and poppadums arrived very swiftly and the older gentleman then came to take our order. Me and my partner were very pleased with how efficient and hard working the staff are at this place. They were staffed correctly and each and everyone of the customers was smiling which was lovely to see. No complaints all round. We also liked the fact there was always a few staff floating around in the restaurant on hand to answer any questions. Food arrived piping hot and was absolutely delicious. Overall 10/10 and I’d highly recommend this place.

Very welcoming from the minute you walk through the door, all the staff are polite and friendly. Excellent food and service. We will be returning in the next couple of weeks.

i am not a big spicy eater but I found the staff in Indian ocean where excellent with me they brought whatever I asked for and cooked it the way I wanted it, been to other Indian restaurants and never got it the way I asked for but they where really good

Come here a lot with family and Christmas time, family tradition and new additions to the family, it’s imperative for it!!

Been coming here for years and still haven’t found anywhere that does it better, certainly not locally! Had some bad press recently but I eat from here once a week if not more and never had a problem. New introductions of daily specials are to die for, not like normal curries, these are made the traditional way of low and slow and I’ve tried them all, each one different and each one superb, keep it up chaps... and Trish!

I went here last night whilst on a business trip to Manchester and I was not disappointed.

Been going here for years but afraid to say was very disappointed service not the best waited over half a hour in between courses starters were nice mains were not as good the place looked tired chair I was sat on ripped and tatty we were a party of six we won’t be back

A very large restaurant but that didn’t detract from the service or the standard of food. We all enjoyed our meals and would return on our next visit to Oldham.

We went to Indian Ocean to celebrate a recent birthday with family. The table was booked for 6:50 on a Saturday night, for 18 people, so we had quite a big order to prepare. Firstly, after ordering, they brought popadoms to the table as an appetiser, like at the vast majority of Indian restaurants. However, these popadoms came to £7.00 for 4, which is extortionate.

Came on Sunday and had the Buffett, the food is amazing, really hot and fresh, really enjoyed the Kashmiri chicken it’s gorgeous and a bargain for the price, will definitely be visiting more on Sundays

Amazing food and service. Will be back again without a doubt. Lamb Jaflong and Vegetable Rice was perfect, and my partner had the delicious sea bass dish. Great drink selection and house wines too! Highly recommend!

The staff are awesome! Totally friendly, relaxed, they know the menu, will advise if you are not sure, they will make modifications to whatever you order, that proves to me they cook to order and dont have vats of food ready to go. Its a clean, no rushed atmosphere where you can have a party or just a meal for you and your squeeze. Will be back again in the fall when I visit...... Tonight was my first visit to the restaurant.Very calm and relaxed atmosphere, staff are helpful and friendly. I really enjoyed my meal, very good value for money.They even brought a little cake with a candle for my friend for her birthday. Defiantly will be returning.

We saw the advertisement for the offer of Sunday Buffet on the Facebook page for the Indian Ocean.

Came here for a casual evening meal and definitely made the right choice by coming here! The chicken tikka masala was lovely and creamy and the garlic naan was to die for!! Service was excellent, our waitress was so welcoming and friendly. Can’t wait to come again!

Ordered a take out which we picked up, only to find when we got home that we were missing 2 out of 3 main meals. Although “replacements” delivered within 30 mins one was tepid at best (makes you think it’s just been picked up off side where it was left from original order) We’ve been coming here for 15 years plus but have noticed of late service has gone downhill. We stopped visiting the restaurant due to one too many poor experiences and now won’t be using takeaway service again. Real shame as when they get it right the food is excellent

Another wonderful meal tonight. Great company. excellent service and nice music. We have been eating here since it opened 20 plus years ago, over the years we have seen many changes not always for the best. The current chefs and team are excellent.

Fantastic food, we all loved the mixed share platter. Friendly staff Reasonable prices, especially if you have the early bird. Definately adding to our favourite list and already discussed a return visit.

We beg to differ on the recent review of the Afghani curry... my friend always chooses this one. She said it was absolutely superb, in fact better than where she normally goes to.

I ordered the House Special, Afghani, worst curry (if you can call it that) I've ever had. It looked like curried cat food, diced (like diced sized veg) it's so dry its un-eatable no sauce at all. I informed the staff immediately and they had the nerve to charge me for it. I paid them and walked out, I've been eating curries for over 45 years from places such as the old Aganta, Gate of India and other famous Ashton curry houses. It didn't look like a curry and didn't taste like a curry. If this is a signature dish............ It's time to sign off!

Havn't visited for a while but came with the family and the meal was faultless. My husband LOVED the lamb chops starter (bearing in mind he's very picky when it comes to lamb chops). I had a meal off the peri peri menu for a change. I had the butterfly chicken and it was amazing! Staff were so friendly, very quick and efficient when we asked for anything. All in all was perfect :)

We had a fantastic dinner that was great value as we used our Meerkat meals 2 for 1 on starters and mains.

Booked the Sunday buffet for a 50th birthday celebration for 33 people this afternoon. From arriving the staff couldn't have been more helpful, helping dress the table and looking after the party so well. Even a younger member of the party got a kitchen tour and mints after!! Everyone loved the food and have said they will be back. Thanks Indian Ocean, you're the best

We sampled the new peri-peri menu yesterday evening and were so impressed by both the service from the staff and the excellent food. We had the medium peri peri half a chicken and also chicken wings with a garlic and herb dressing along with a selection of sides including garlic bread, channa, peri-peri fries, onion rings and two salad type options, all of which were excellent and complemented the chicken perfectly. The chicken also came with a selection of chutneys. The chicken was perfectly tender (which we were looking out for having had very dry chicken at some other well-known chicken restaurants!).

Have never had a bad meal here and am pleased to say this didn't change when going to try the new peri chicken menu... there was a good range to choose from and strengths to suit everyone's taste will be back soon to try something else

Just been to the Indian Ocean to sample the new piri-piri chicken menu! I was really impressed!!. Generous portions. Gorgeous chicken and a big choice of sides to choose from. Really reasonable prices. And as always - outstanding service.

Didn’t know when we booked but it was buffet night. Food was lovely, good atmosphere and the staff were great. I took a cake with me which they brought out with candles on and sang happy birthday to her. Very reasonably priced aswell.

not been for sometime but Indian Ocean still upto scratch, we had a lovely meal on their early evening deal. we thought it would be lacking in some way but no way as already said it was well up to standard. its in the diary for another visit very soon.

What can I say , this place is superb , we have used the a la carte menu as well as the Sunday Buffet , both are excellent , the food is truly delicious and the staff so polite and attentive . The welcome you get is always warm and the customer service spot on .

Been here the past 2 Saturday's and the service and food are excellent. The staff are very friendly and professional and make you feel very welcome. Food portions are generous and the early bird deal is superb value for money. Cannot fault anything and we'll be back again very soon!

You can’t beat the Early Bird deal for great value and quality! It was our second visit in just over a week this evening and we had another fab meal. This time there was eight of us and we all enjoyed it, no complaints whatsoever. Good, friendly service and lovely food for a great price, what more could we want!

Went with my partner and her son and our friends, food was nice, service was a little chaotic, they didn’t know if we was waiting for our starters or main course. My partner didn’t get what she asked for with her main course, was a bit surprised because it is normally very spot on.

Fresh hot food from a well established restaraunt, good buffet set up or you can order from the menu, great service from the staff & plenty of conversation as well. Been going here on & off for quite a few years now & still at the same high standards. Good prices & selection on food & drink.

I took my family and my Aunty & Uncle who were visiting from India, the management and staff were amazing and looked after us. They made us feel welcome and took showed great patience and answered all questions truthfully. My uncle and aunty were very impressed with the setup and we all enjoyed the lovely food that we ordered. Everyone walked over with a big smile and we could share jokes and laughter together.

We met friends for an evening meal. Our first visit to the Indian Ocean. My first impression was not great. The entrance was dirty and needed a good sweep out.

I visited the Indian Ocean for a drink with Buisness colleagues and I wanted to make a review for a barman that literally went out of his way to make our night. He was very attentive and really made an effort to put the customer first. I apologise for spelling mistakes but I think his name was Rory. So please make sure that he is acknowledged and rewarded to his incredible five star service to us. Thank you and we will be returning I’m sure.

I went with my daughter and partner and my lovely granddaughter on Saturday 3rd nov ,we sat in the comfortable lounge bar for a drink before we shown to our table there was no rush the staff was excellent and on hand all the time we ordered our starters and they brought my granddaughter main meal out with our starters ,we had tandoori lamb chops which were beautiful and cooked to perfection we were left to wait a while for the main course which we asked for and again the food was fantastic my granddaughter had her sweet then so she was never without anything ,the service and friendliness was excellent ,it was that good we booked again for Christmas day which was amazing last year.

Such good curry, so blooming tasty. Excellent service too. Best place to eat in Ashton! Make sure you have gin with your curry, it’s marvellous!

We tried Indian Ocean for the first time. We usually go to a Indian in Stockport but decided to give it a try as its nearer. Plus we looked to use the Meerkat Meals offer - though the set menu turned out to be better value so went for that.

Really lovely food, all the staff are super helpful and great with the kids. Excellent value for money.

Love Indian Ocean and love the fact they deliver even more. A great range of Indian meals delivered tastings as good as in the restaurant.

Lovely food but service not as good as usual. Asked for five minutes before main meal had to ask for it after half an hour. Asked for the bill twice restaurant not busy either. Will go back as food is lovely. MAybe employ some more staff.

We booked a table on Sunday for the Sunday buffet. On the website it said the buffet is from 3pm. We arrived at this time and we were asked to sit in the lounge. When we were shown to our table we were told the buffet wasn’t ready yet, and it would be an extra hour. As we came for the buffet, we decided to go home and come back an hour later.

Myself and my wife often go here as the place is amazing the food is excellent the staff are helpful nothing is ever to much trouble no matter what you ask, the atmosphere is relaxed and you feel chilled out

I have eaten in many Indian restaurants in tameside, this is the best by a country mile.The staff are friendly and very knowledgeable of the menu giving suggestions to our requirements. Bar service was good , very extensive menu starters and mains something for everyone's taste.

Just a quick review to praise the staff and chefs here. I was there last week for evening meal with business colleague and it was simply amazing as always. I visit many Indian restaurants but this place is a cut above the rest.

The restaurant was only 1/2 full, but it took 40 mins to get a drink and order our food! 1hour 20mins from arriving on time for our reserved table, our starters turned up. No apology and very poor customer service throughout, not somewhere we would rush back to. Food was average.

I come up from Canterbury to visit an old army friend. We normally eat in Uppermill Saddleworth, but I fancied a change and what a surprise. We were greeted at the reception with a warm welcome and taken straight to our table. They do a special deal. Popadoms, a main dish, rice (of your choice) chips and nan bread for £10 pp. This suited us all as it is what we normally have. The food was absolutely fantastic with a great mix of spices. This coupled with the service meant an enjoyable evening, except the Manchester rain ☔️ . We will return.

My wife and I visited last night (my wife had been before about 25 years ago, but I'd never been before). They were very knowledgeable about their ingredients, and as we are both vegan, this was comforting to us. Everything we ate was wonderful, with a depth and complexity of flavours that was delightful, and left us knowing we'll be going back again, and we'll let our friends know as well.

My Wife & I have now had several meals delivered to our Home. The quality of the ingredients is excellent, the quantity is more than ample. Always delivered within a few minutes of requested time. Overall hard to fault, thank you

The service in Indian Ocean since Amaani opened had been brilliant. It was always good before but has raised the bar in recent months.

Been many times over the years and has slowly gotten worse. Not enough chicken in the madras to feed a cat, as well as being no spicier than tomato ketchup. Overcharged on chips and rice but too polite to comment. The popadoms are also pricey compared to other establishments.

We had a family wedding meal in the Indian Ocean restaurant few weeks ago and we find the food excellent and the service is very quick and staff are very friendly and welcoming nice restaurant and good location

Had the early bird menu on a Thursday night. Food was gorgeous, the early bird deal was brilliant for the price and the staff were really friendly. It was a nice family outing

Buffet had been pre booked for 26 at £20 a head. For this you got 1 drink of your choice, poppodoms, chutneys, 3 or 4 different starters to try, 3 different curries, rice mans & chapattis. Absolutely brilliant value, good service and very nice food. (Cobra on draught was spot on too). Recommended.
