Went to Indian Ocean restaurant last night with my family, I am in my daughter's support bubble, had a wonderful meal, great service, looked after by Jamal who couldn't do enough to make it a brilliant experience, gorgeous food, brilliant staff and so reasonably priced, social distancing was very well done, everyone felt safe,5 star evening.

Indian ocean is the only place where we go out to eat indian.The curries are the best especially the chicken madras and chicken chilli tikka masala.It was my birthday today and loved my complimentary strawberry daiquiri from my fellow liverpool fan.I have to say it was the best strawberry daiquiri i have ever had....

Just eaten at Indian Ocean taking advantage of the government offerThis restaurant has gone to a lot of trouble to implement covid restrictions and they have done it well,all waiters with masks on partitions between tables and yet it still having a relaxing atmosphere.Food was great too wewill definitely be going back.

First meal out after lockdown and it was worth the wait. Visited 6.30pm on a Saturday and have to say the service was excellent, all staff well trained on the current guidelines and polite as always at Indian Ocean. Fantastic food - £14.99 pp for 5 courses. Well presented and very tasty. Been here many times and it always hits the spot. Give It a go if you haven’t been before.

Had a lovely meal here . We had the 5 course deal for 13 pounds 95 pence. The choice was varied and the food excellent. The staff are very friendly

We are regular visitors here never been disappointed. Large size restaurant well staffed good size free carpark at the side. We usually have the set menu slightly more expensive at the weekend but still worth it. Our service a little slower than usual even though not that busy. We had to ask a couple of times for our next item of our set menu. Hopefully this is only a one off maybe our waiter a bit distracted.We will still call here as we love the food chicken Tikka thawa a personal favorite

What a great time good and super food. A 5 course meal at a set price of £13.99 not that but you can take your own wine in and they don't charge corkage what a night we had highly recommended and will be going back.

Can’t believe the recent mediocre reviews of the Indian Ocean, we have been going for over 5 years and it is consistently excellent. Went for valentines meal which was probably the best meal we have ever had. They have introduced a few new dishes on the menu, the wife decided to try one, sizzling fish platter, it was amazing,I stuck with my usual tandoori mixed sizzling platter which was excellent as it always is. Staff here are brilliant and very attentive , Jamal served us and was excellent, shah friendly as he always is, thanks again for a fantastic meal, we are looking forward to our next visit already.

We were staying quite remotely so had little choice and opted for here.Good friendly service. Completely empty at 2130 hrs on a Tuesday nightBut they had had an indian wedding we are toldMixed starters were good. My wife’s duck dish just ok and my Chicken Methi not as good as Walsall recent visit. Felt like they had put left over chicken tikka pieces in it.Slightly surprised re prices, higher than average for this part of the world I thought.

went for the five course set menu it wasn't great the food was average the service was very poor wasn't helpful at all no pleasantries nothing from the waiter will not recommend or go back cooking of food was rushed onions and peppers under cooked

My colleague and I are working up in Oldham, and we fancied a curry, so went on the trusted TripAdvisor, and found the Indian Ocean restaurant.This is where TripAdvisor is so good, the reviews were good, so we booked a table.We arrived at seven, we met by a friendly member of staff who set us down, he took our order within five minutes and the starters arrived within five minutes, we ordered our main meal and a few drinks and within 5 to 10 minutes everything was in front of us.The food was absolutely delicious, the fact that they were Asian families in the restaurant says a lot about the food. After about an hour we ordered the bill, which was extremely reasonable.I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough, if you are in Oldham and I’m looking for somewhere to have a meal please go here it’s brilliant!

Accommodated 30 family members for son's 30th birthday celebration! Cake provided by us and taken to restaurant, no problem.Been to many Indian restaurants over the years but without doubt this is up there as one of the best!Wonderful food, well presented and ample portions!The service was professional and excellent in every regard!Will be re-visiting! This is our third visit here. We had the set menu. For starter i tried the garlic chicken chaat it was very tasty. For main I chose the chicken and cheese kofta one of my favourites from our local takeaway. It was very tasty nice and spicy. Followed by ice-cream and coffee then a shot of Bailey's to finish off the night. Would recommend it. Staff polite and friendly.

Celebrating our son’s 12th Birthday and he decided he wanted a curry for his birthday meal, heard of this place and decided to try it, 10/10 food and great staff!

Came here by recommendation and i was not dissapointed at all, the food was lovely and service was spot on. The restaurant is modern and stylish so all in all a great place and i would recommend any one to try this place if they get a chance.

In town for a short overnight stay with work colleagues and went here for dinner with 8 people. Easy to find, easy to book and the food was great. Unlikely to be anywhere near Oldham in the future but if I was I would certainly go again.

Came here as the previous place that I booked (last night) turned us away, shame on them. Rang up and booked a table instantly even though they are busy themselves. Will definitely be back at some point!!

Called here on a Sunday evening with friends. Ordered from the £13.99 set meal which is good value. Nice surrounding with a car park. Staff friendly &" helpful food cooked well with good portion sizes. Started with a favorite chicken chaat puri, followed by thawa chicken Tikka both delicious. With a side order egg fried rice for me then ice cream & coffee to follow rounded of with a Bailey's. Not sure if this is standard as we were quite a large group. Would call again as a good enjoyable experience

Went to ocean Indian for the first time last night went to order my main meal and the waiter bent down and quietly recommended that I may wish to choose different meal as he,d got a couple of complaints about that dish in the past and I asked what he,d recommend the dish he said was beautiful and I would not usually of ordered it they were friendly with being in your face and making you feel rushed the whole experience impressed me and my friend will be back again soon plus I,m disabled and the disabled toilet was large and spotless only thing I could say even though it didn't affect me is if your in a wheelchair the turning circle from entering the corridor into the toilet area maybe a little tight I never measured it but just thought I,d mention it so people are aware of it

We came for an early valentines meal, as usual the food was amazing at a great price. Really enjoyed my night.

I’ve visited Indian Ocean a few times prior with no issues.

Every time we visit from Australia we come here for a top quality curry. Have even been known to come in twice per trip. Excellent food, always spot on what ever we order. Very efficient & courteous staff. Very reasonable prices for both food & drinks. Thank you Indian Ocean you never fail to impress us

We have been going to the Indian Ocean for years now and I must admit it is my favourite place to eat. Food is always first class, staff are amazing. We have never had a bad experience here. I was quite shocked to hear some negativity about the Indian Ocean recently and following our latest visit I can honestly say the standard of food, service and surroundings are the best! We would not go anywhere else and will continue to go to the Indian Ocean as the whole experience is consistently first class. Thank you shah and all the staff, you are a credit and please keep up the good work!

Went for my 50th Birthday and our wedding anniversary meal. Excellent food and service as always highly recommended as always.

We have tried most restaurants in oldham but we still go back to the indian ocean, they have got everything just about right, the price, service, atmosphere and most importantly the food.

We only ate here once and that was enough.

Called in for a table for four and although busy we were taken straight to a table.

Always go here. This is our go to place of we fancy a curry for tea. Never had a bad meal and it is always enjoyed by me and my family! We've even had a few family gatherings here too. Added bonus you can take your own wine!

The staff are friendly and welcoming, the restaurant very clean and nicely decorated, modern, we have been as a couple but more recently as a family, the staff were great, a high chair provided for our little one and we were well looked after. We had a party of 8, the food was excellent and whilst the prices are already reasonable the bill was still lower than expected as we ordered off menu and they put it through on the weekly special deal, we hadn't realised we qualified for it, it was a nice surprise. They don't ask for tips when you pay as some restaurants do but they are well worth a tip!

I went for the midweek deal, I found it excellent. Really good value, with good quality food. Nicely spiced. The service was good and efficient. Would definitely try again when in Area.

We have not visited this restaurant for a while. It was very quiet when we arrived but soon got very busy. The food was excellent and the service was great. The price was also very competitive

I went for a meal in the Indian Ocean and for a change I chose the Thawa Chicken, this is strips of chicken, pepper, onions, garlic etc, served on a sizzling hot plate, with rice or Nan bread, it was absolutely delicious. It is rated with one chilli, which means it isn’t very hot, however you can taste all the spices and the food, it seems to get a little hotter as you eat it. The surroundings are very nice and the staff clean and accommodating. We chose the ‘’special” deal, this is popadom & side dish’s, a starter, any main course from the menu, ice cream & coffee. £13:95 (King prawns are extra) they also do a very nice Nan bread, it’s quite thin, and not as stodgy as it often the case. They have a full bar but, allow you to take your own wine. The Indian Ocean is a lovely restaurant, it is very clean and has wonderful food, I would recommend a visit.

Went as a party of 20 hence had the party menu at £13.95. Excelent food but not the best value for money at £13.95 per head. It included a nan bread and chips to share by 4 people. I would have much preferred the option of dhall or another nan bread instead of the chips. Very nice interior, but the staff a bit slow to serve the drinks on arrival. Would still go back.

This is definitely my favourite indian restaurant and I've been to a few. The food is always beautiful and well presented. The 5 course meal is amazing value. Its not a set menu but anything of the menu. Staff always very pleasant and never a wait for food. Cant recommend this place enough. See you soon

Dined here with a friend last week and the food was superb. We went midweek and there was a special offer on for for courses for £15 which was ideal. The food is not your usual Indian food they have some very unique exquisite dishes on the menu to choose from and the food was cooked to perfection. I will definitely return even though I live 30 minutes away.

Eat her twice this week, had the Tandoori sizzler twice. The staff in this place are first class. So friendly and pleasant and very attentive. the food is excellent and the menu is very varied.

Came here last week and walked away satisfied the food was of a high standard imo the service was excellent and the prices were cheap for £20 per person I got poppadoms followed by the Shami kebab starter then came the Bengal fish and to finish off with ice cream and coffee great value for the price I recommend this place, ample parking too I will come again

Wow had a cracking meal last night with my wife and two kids.

We were a group of 14 family and friends ranging from 4 to 70, one a wheelchair user. We parked three cars easily and received a warm welcome on entering the restaurant.

Been to this place on a lot of occasions got a booth. Very tasty and good service, did not choose the special deal just went off the main menu and the food was very tasty. Will definitely call in again

my wife and myself visited the indian ocean we fancied a curry so we went here we had the 12.95 menu very good popadoms , starter , main , sweet and coffees at the end 5 course . I had lamb chops starter , main chicken tikka Balti , ice cream and coffee my wife had the same. nice restaurant , nice service 9/10 will be going again .

Had a problem with my starter but in all honesty they did try to solve it .. even with the problem I still would recommend it as the food its good there.

I work in Oldham and often spend a number of nights away from home. As a result I have visited many restaurants and pubs in the area over a number of months and I consistently return here, often multiple times a week.The reason? It is quite simply the best Indian restaurant in the area that I have come across and possibly one of the best that I have ever been to.The restaurant is quite large with a number of booths as well as a private room and tables. It is well decorated and exceptionally clean and well cared for.Service is exceptionally friendly and professional, I am welcomed like a local now and I have found no reason to fault it, even turning up 5 mins before they finished serving.The food is superb and if you take advantage of their fixed price menu it is exceptionally good value. The range is extensive and the quality without question. Some of the best Indian food that I have tasted.What is there to fault? The only thing I could mention is that there is no dedicated parking and you have to park in the car park of the warehouse next door. When the food is of the quality that it is that really is no hardship!

A group of 7 ate here straight from a hard day at the office. Were going to go for the full menu but waiter offered us an full meal "deal" on everything bar a few items that had a surcharge, fair enough. The portions were full size and everyone enjoyed the food. We had various starters, mains, rice & breads and plenty of drinks. All in the bill was less that £130, a bargain I'd say and I'll be back.

Excellent restaurant and staff are great they cannot do enough for you, the food is excellent and the great thing is that they allow you to take you own wine which is a bonus. It also has an excellent atmosphere and great value for money. I certainly Highly recommend this restaurant.

Food was delicious and had a pleasant afternoon, the only criticism I can say is that the staff aren't very hospitable and there wasn't any interaction. They were also slow to clear the table as our mains arrived and our starters were still at our table even though a number of them had walked passed us on numerous occasions. The food made up for it but like I said the staff need to make more of an effort

I hadn't been to Indian Ocean for a while, but the food was so much better than I remember. Everything from the poppadom dips to the mains was spot on. The garlic naan was one of the best I've had - really well flavoured. Overall a great meal. One of the cheapest yet best quality Indian restaurants in Oldham.

I booked a table for 6 people online with no problems, the table was ready on arrival. The service was excellent and the food was some of best (if not the best) in town or the surrounding area. The restaurant and toilets are very clean and the staff smart and tidy. You can take your favourite wine with no corkage charge and, they have a good selection of beer. This is my favourite Indian restaurant and I would recommend a visit and would advise you book in advance, Saturday night is exceptional busy. 10/10.

I have been coming to this place for over 20 years and sometimes things change because it is bound to over 20 years but I love the food and the people who run the place, especially Mo and Sha. I can't recommend it more highly. Love the place.

Been to this place on a lot of occasions and it is a good place with good food. However, after the main course the service standards drop off dramatically. Long wait for dessert and followed by a further long wait for coffee and that put a spoiler on the night. I will go back purely due to family invitation but will not be in a rush to return of my own accord when I have the feeling I have been poorly treated.

Another great meal here. Always really nice food and good service. Cobra on draught. Chicken Tikka Lava was gorgeous. What more could you need, great prices too!

I have been here several times.Always enjoy it.Good value and service. Pleasant relaxed surroundings and I have taken my own wines. I would recommend that you book in advance during busy times as even then,the wait can be tedious but once at your table, I'm confident that you will enjoy what's on offer

My girlfriend and I have been coming here for well over a decade. One of the first Indian restaurants in the Oldham area to offer a 'set price' menu.Always great value for money and above all a range of delicious dishes to choose from. Being a vegetarian presents no problem as they are always more than happy to make a dish to suit you.I guess their success has come at a price as it's now hugely popular and can get extremely busy and noisy towards the start of the weekend. My advice would be to come mid-week when it's quieter, you won't be disappointed.

Food was very good tonight shame the waiters although very good at serving they are not so good at understanding requests.very reasonable prices and there is a deal for £12.95 where you get a popperdom and accompanying sauces and a starter of your choice and meal of your choice ice cream and a coffee toilets are adequate. Restaurants does have disabled ramps at the entrance. Very near parking facilities where there is a small car park. They said they had No wifi but later said they had but it was not working .They got a drink wrong twice and at the end over charged for an extra meal on the bill so always check your bill..if I was judging on the food only would be 5 stars tonight.. the food can vary a bit as it depends on who's cooking that night..as I have been many times it's been mostly good but still better than most places I've been.. but they are always very good if something is not right to put it right when requested too.

Wonderfully evening at Indian ocean had a table for 5 excellent service gud job lads I ate the ocean special felt like I was diving in the ocean will definately be back guys maybe with my diving gear

8 of us went for a meal at this restaurant on Thursday night , this was my first time having an Indian meal , I prefer Chinese. On entry a young waiter came straight to us to show us to our table he was so polite and courteous. We all had starters of pompadoms and dips which was so fresh and crisp, we all had different mains and I had Chicken Korma with rice and chips (share) , It was really delicous and creamy, the rice was so light and fluffy. All the staff were very attentive and eager to please you, the restaurant was very clean and beautifully decorated. On leaving you are offered a shot of Baileys and after dinner mints. We loved our visit to the Indian Ocean and can't wait to go again, I'm a convert.

I went here with my partner for our Christmas celebration. We had a wonderful time . The staff are so friendly and very attentive. Nothing is too much trouble. The food is fantastic and the prices are so reasonable. It's even a bring your own wine, which is unusual for a restaurant. Ice buckets are even provided on request. They have recently had a make over and the new decor is just so posh.

We have been to other restaurants but we always come back to the INDIAN OCEAN, the food is lovely, the service great and the price you can't beat for what you get.We always go as a table of 4 and never been let down as they are always busy, they also cater for large groups which the food and choice you get is unbelievable.

We tried this place on recommendation from a friend and we were not disapponited at all, they do a 5 course meal offer which is brilliant, the food and service is very good. we have been going to this restaurant for the last 6 months and i cant fault the place at all.All i can say is try the place and you wont be disappointed for anyone who has not been.

very disappointing portions small, and food could of been alot hotter as after 10 minutes everything was cold to finish off because of this we asked to take curry which was left home with us once home decided to reheat the meal and realised they had taken some of the chicken out of the curry there was definitley 5 or 6 pieces but when opened there was only 3 im certain of this as id left some aswell as my wife, would not reccomend to anyone

Been here a few times always with a group and we they offer a good deal of popadoms, starter, main with rice or nan, ice cream and coffee for £12.95. Other additional items can be chosen and paid for separately. All staff are efficient and helpful. We always get a separate room or occasionally shared with another party but still a good atmosphere, need to book if you have a group or you will have a long wait.

A group of us attended here, when your group is large, you get to order of a pre-defined menu for £12.93, you get poppadoms and onions and chutney, then you can order a starter, then a main course from the actual menu, and you get pilau and naan with that choice, the naan is shared between 4 people, can't remember if you get the choice of a pudding, as we had a birthday cake that we took. It has a bar but you can also take your own. The food was really nice, and extremely tasty, the staff were attentive and pleasant. We had an area to ourselves where we didn't disturb others, which I think is considerate to the other diners.People who wanted other items could order them, they just paid the extra at the end.

Good place to eat and friendly staff. Serve alcohol but this does mess with your taste buds so wasn't that bothered.Would recommend for a nice evening

Visited this place yesterday with 3 friends for Eid dinner. Didn't know what to expect, however was really glad we picked this place as the food was very authentic Indian/Bangladeshi.The starters were brilliant and not covered in oil like wise the main was the same.Really enjoyed the meal and will definitely return again, highly recommended.

Tuesday match after a Saturday victory in Barnet.Not expecting much from the footy (5-4 victory was a welcome end to the evening) & food whilst well cooked, flavoured & served promptly, was not exactly to my taste.Always a bit unfair to criticise on the basis of an expectation of meal spiciness which was misfounded - a little too tame (stuffed cheese peppers) for my taste buds - but there you have it. Food was good enough to go back again but would turn up the heat - for medium read mild - next time.

I visited Indian Ocean midweek after work with colleagues and had no problem getting a table. We took advantage of the set menu - starter, main, dessert, coffee as recommended by a colleague who has visited the restaurant several times already.The food was delivered to our table within minutes of ordering and wasnt hot in temperature. The food tasted yummy and the portions are a decent size.Within minutes of me finishing my main course I immediately had diahroea 3 times. I chose to go into the disabled toilet for some privacy only to have the door opened on me by one of the waiters.He did apologise however it was a humiliating experience that I wouldnt want to repeat.Do not park in the Aldi car park next door as you will get a parking ticket if you stay more than 2 hours.

Absolutely horrendous! We were taken to our table but once we had sat down the waiters seemed to be doing nothing & uninterested in serving us. We had to call the waiter over to our table to take our drinks which took another five minutes to arrive, after that we had a look through the menu & decided what we were going to eat; after we knew what we were ordering we had to wait ten minutes and no one was coming to the table so we had to call a waiter over to come take our order. After the waiter had taken we were supposed to be given popadoms however we had to wait 10 minutes before it actually arrived. After eating popadoms we had to wait for our starters for 20 minutes & when we asked the waiter were was our starters he said its on his way but it took much more longer. They didn't bother clearing our table for the starters or main course, waiters walked by and seen the table & just didn't bother with it. We tried putting in a complaint but the manager was not accepting it. We were denied alcoholic beverages due to our race, overall I will never recommend this place to go eat!!! Absolutely ridiculous!

We have been going to Indian ocean frequently for over a year now with the odd visit precious to this. Tonight I went with a friend as a belated 30th celebrations. I feel like I'm being disloyal writing this but I feel really let down. The mango chutney was watered down and had remains of left of poppadoms in it before we even started, my starter was raw lamb chops which was a huge disappointment as the lamb here is normally beautiful and my friends chicken was pure fat and gristle. When the main arrived I was iffy abut eating it. I cut into the chicken and it was discoloured black and red. Staff not really as friendly as normal.. a little of new faces and a lot of huffing and puffing around us. Not planning on returning in the future which is a shame because it is genuinely a lovely restuarant depending on which waiter you get and if you don't go at peak times.

We have been here many, many times with both family and friends. Food is superb and great value for money with the set menu. You can take your own wine, which means it's a really cheap night out! Particular favourite curries from the menu are: Saagwala, Thawa and the Akbari Cham Cham which has a delicious smokey taste! Never had a bad meal. Can't recommend enough!

Busy restaurant. Booked a table for 6 adults last Saturday. Table was ready on time and we were offered drinks straight away. You can take your own wine but have to buy beer or spirits. Meal took a while but they were very busy and when it arrived it was very tasty and everyone enjoyed the evening. Staff were helpful as one of our friends eats gluten free and they offered advice. The meal and drinks were very reasonable.

We have dined at this restaurant on numerous occasions and never had a bad meal or poor service. Admittedly we tend to go in the early evenings when it isn't overly busy. The choice of meals is extensive and the quality of the service exemplary. There is a lot of competition in the area but the others would have to exceptional to beat the Indian Ocean.

Visited this restaurant while working with the guys from Edmunsons Electrical...Beautiful food full of flavour and a pleasant atmosphere. Thoroughly recommended...

On arrival the friendly staff took us where the rest of the party were seated. Soon the wine was flowing and the poppadoms arrived , lovely and fresh. Starter soon arrived followed by the most delicious main meal of tandoori mix special. Definitely recommend Indian ocean and soon be visiting again.

Went in a party of around 35 including teenagers for end of season football meal,the food was excellent well presented and prepared.The staff were lovely and very helpful the service was very good as with this rather large party they were kept very busy. We would definatley go again.

Visited this restaurant again to celebrate my 70th Birthday. Once again we enjoyed first class service along with excellent food.

First time at this restaurant and the last.The meat dishes that we ordered for starters were cool (not in a good way) just room temprature. the tikka lamb chops had to be sent back, so cold).The curries we ordered (3 different ones) were all described as medium hot but all three had no heat in them at all (and I can't take hot ones so these were really lacking heat). When this was mentioned the anwser given was that medium has no (spicy) heat ?? odd , all the other indian restaurants must be doing it wrong.Ordering drinks, there are no prices for glasses of wine on the menu.

Been going to the Indian ocean for over fifteen years, its gets better and better, the food has always been good especially the jalfrazie and the lamb sagwali, we always think of the Indian ocean when we want a curry, nice atmosphere good décor clean toilets, fast service and friendly staff. oh and very reasonably priced, can't beat it.

When we fancy an Indian meal we usually think of the Indian Ocean first. It offers a great bargain on a five course meal deal but the main menu is very competitively priced. The quality of food throughout is excellent everyone we go. You can take your own wine but to be honest it's not really worth it as the restaurant a very nice house wine for a really low cost. We have also had a takeaway delivered from the Indian Ocean and the food quality was equally as good as the restaurant food. Highly recommended

We have been going to the Indian Ocean for years now and I have been meaning to write a review after each visit.Really cannot fault this place the food is amazing, the staff and service are second to none and the place itself is very nice! Overall an excellent dining experience and looking forward to going back soon!I really can't believe the recent negative reviews! The food certainly has not gone down hill it is very high quality as are the staff who we have got to know over the years! Can't fault it! Thank you!

Shame this place has gone downhill was really good one time, the lighting also makes it hard to see the menu it could do with brightening the place up a little more, service could improve much more food needs a little more taste as some dishes taste alike, not in a rush to come back
