Indian Cottage, Kilsyth Road in East Dunbartonshire

Visited with family for a special event in late October, approximately 20 people. The service was excellent, the buffet was delicious and the staff made everyone feel welcome. Very reasonably priced and a lovely, relaxed experience. Thank you!

Very poor, not one part of the meal was any good or came anywhere near the description on the menu. The lamb tikka tandoori was tough and salty. The paratha bread was greasy and tasted like it was made from old dough

I visit this restaurant on a regular basis for lunch as love the food and staff very friendly but Went for Christmas dinner 8 adults and 1 baby aged 1 year really disappointed portions were smaller than the lunch menu chicken pakora 3 small pieces curry dish was only over half full my granddaughter ordered steak medium rare it was well over cooked she could hardly chew it cheese cake and gateau was still frozen ice cream dish was 1 scoop I complained about gateau and they took it away returned 2 which they had defrosted in the microwave we were supposed to get tea / coffee but it didn’t appear we were not asked after waiting 20 minutes we decided just to leave I wanted to complain more but my family did not like to they do not like a fuss went up to pay the bill and asked about coffee and they then offered to bring it but too late the final touch was the bill they charged us full price for a baby of 1 year.

My Husband and I tried here tonight for the first time and it was honestly the most amazing food great choice nice and cozy atmosphere and the staff where so Lovley 10/10 if you haven't been your missing out 👌 we traveled from Falkirk and it was worth every single bit of journey ❤️

food was ok nothing special variety was poor shame as I wanted to try this place for a long time just not a lot of choice desserts all lying out not covered just didn’t feel it was good value for money unfortunately won’t go back

Decided to try this place out after reading reviews. Wanted to try the buffet but unfortunately it's only on at night. Doesn't look much from the outside but plenty of parking. It's so lovely inside. Decided to stay for lunch and i wasn't disappointed. The food tasted soooooo fresh. What i really loved is the curry came in a separate dish. I'm so fussy about the about of sauce on my plate and i like to do it myself. The staff were so perfect. Service was spot on. Can't wait to return to try the buffet the next time. Great find in Kirkintolloch.

Visited this evening for my dads 70th birthday, can’t fault a thing. Buffet was fresh and topped up during our visit, the staff were friendly and attentive and could not have been any nicer or more accommodating with our family. Our waitress in particular made the kids feel at home and us parents feel so at ease! So sorry we hadn’t caught the name of our waitress as she is a credit to your team! We will be back, thank you for such a lovely evening

So nice to be back! My family and I moved from Kirkintilloch just before the first UK COVID lockdown back in March 2020, and had not been back over that direction until last night (Oct 2021). Visited the Indian Cottage in the hopes that their buffet was back on and that we could once again enjoy their fantastic food, which we have missed A LOT since our move. Glad to say they were open and back to normal (with face masks of course). The food was a pure delight, and the choice available at the buffet was amazing as usual. Something for all ages too! My two 5 year olds enjoyed digging into the fresh fruit and selection if dessert cakes, while my 7 year old raved about the rice and the curry selection. My wife and I tried it all! 😁 Service was top notch as always, with nice friendly staff who were great with the children. Can’t recommend the Indian Cottage, Kirkintilloch highly enough. Try it for yourself and hopefully you will have just as great an experience. Only downside - wish they would sort out the car park and building exterior. All needs work, and in its current state it detracts from the positive experience that awaits customers once inside.

Was really looking forward to the buffet and we booked for 6 o'clock. When we got there, there was hardly any food in the containers. The veg pakora was in bit's, hard and cold we think it had been there for a while. Chicken pakora non existent and the nan bread was soggy as it was kept warm over boiling water containers. We took what was there and thought we would wait and see if they restocked before we went up for seconds but not once did the staff check the containers. Very poor chicken chasni as plenty sauce left but no chicken. In fact more sauce in the containers than chicken or lamb. When we were asked if everything was OK I said no there was nothing in the containers which was very poor for a buffet. They then decided to check the containers and add some pakora and nan bread. Too late for us as we had just had to make do with sauce and nan breads which cost me £34. We used to come here often in fact it was a toss up between Bombay Dreams in Cumbernauld or Indian Cottage, wish we has went to Bombay Dreams. I don't know what the issue was but I would advise they check how many customers they have and make sure there is plenty food for the buffet customers not just the customers picking from the menu. Unfortunately we won't be back.

Meeting up with family members for the first time in a long time - we all enjoyed the food, service, cost, and the portion sizes.

Go in most weeks Once Monday to Wednesday for 2 for 1 lunch, went in last week cost £2 less and that was with the government” eat out to Help out scheme” when queried they said they weren’t doing normal deal which is 2 for 1 lunches Every day because on Monday to Wednesday it was Al a arts menu only but Thursday to Sunday deal back on. Won’t be back

Food was excellent and bill was only £21.65 for 3 of us (2 adults 1 kid). Only thing I would complain about is how they can justify £3.90 for a pint of diet coke! Think someone is hiking their soft drinks prices to compensate for the Eating out deal 😡

Arrived Monday lunchtime with partner. Usual lunchtime menu unavailable due to ‘eat out‘ promo by govt. Not wanting to miss an opportunity, the owners substituted this with the A la carte menu only. Had 2 starters 2 mains 1 soft drink total £18. Would normally have cost £36 !!!. Aye right. Food just ok. Portions both tiny. We both felt restaurant substituted the menu to get customers to pay more. Normal lunchtime menu both eat for £14.50 for 3 courses.Been eating here since It was opened by Billy Padda in 87. Unfortunately won’t be rushing back. Shame on you guys.

Food was really tasty , portion sizes were really big. Even when full you just wanted to keep eating. The staff were so polite and friendly we will he going back.

Living in England, I love coming home to get a food Indian takeaway. Ordered pakora and a lamb tikka masala. Popped the the tikka in oven to keep warm and tucked into the Pakora - happy days! They were excellent and you can’t get them into Wiltshire. Then what a shame - night and day, the lamb tikka masala was a massacre! Sweet with no spice, but the wise sin was the lamb was in slices similar to a kebab. So disappointed

My wife and I had our first date in the Indian Cottage 19 years ago. We decided to celebrate that event on the anniversary of our meeting. Having dined at the Indian Cottage a number of times in the intervening period we noticed a deterioration in the food and surroundings and eventually stopped going. How things have changed!The restaurant has been beautifully refurbished and new owners have taken over. The service is excellent and the food was out of this world. We will be back!

First visit to this restaurant and have to say was very impressed. I’m not usually a fan of buffets but thought this one was very good. They seem to put the food out in small amounts so that it’s not lying in the Bain Marie for any length of time, the result being that the food was always fresh.fresh .and

I’m not usually a big fan of buffets, but was very impressed by the look of this one when we visited for lunch recently, so went back for dinner the other night, and it didn’t disappoint. Everything was hot and fresh, and the staff were constantly checking the dishes. Narin and Sunita looked after us well, as did the rest of the staff.We’ll be back soon.

Used the Just Eat app to order a delivery tonight. Burnt poppadom that I'm pretty sure wouldn't be served to you if you sat in. Pakora was decent and good size. Then the worst curry I ever remember having in my life. If that's what they give out as a Karahi, the chef needs to go learn how to make one. Absolutely dreadful taste, plenty of chicken but not very edible. Tried and binned. Thirty odd quid aswell.

Living close to the Indian Cottage we are able to dine there regularly and have always enjoyed great food and service. Whether its the set buffet which has a good range of tasty starters, main courses and sweets... washed down with a pint or two of Cobra; or individual curries from the menu, the food is always very good. To elaborate, the starters are tasty, the poppadoms are crisp and tasty, the accompaniments are extensive and varied. The main courses are great, the lamb bhuna being one of my favourites, as the lamb is always tender and full of flavour without being too hot. As the restaurant is set inside a converted church, the ceilings are high and there is a good sense of space and openness. The staff are always friendly and attentive, and I would not think of going anywhere else for a good curry.

Good Friday evening and pretty busy at 7.30pm when we went. Quickly decided that the buffet was the way to go ( you can go a la carte if wished but little point as the buffet caters well for most tastes).

Food is great. Take away & sitting in, we went for the sit in buffet and the food itself was great however the reason it’s a 4 star on not 5 from me is the they didn’t fill the starters enough. There was a couple of pieces of pakora left and it didn’t get filled again , plenty curry and rice however I felt the starters weren’t enough . I’d still eat here and recommend , that was my only gripe .

A 20 minute wait for a takeaway order (1 main and 2 starters) when there were only about 6 diners and nobody else waiting for takeaway.I had a lamb tikka starter in my order which turned out to be 4 small pieces of very dry, overcooked lamb and a pathetic salad, costing £4.95. At over £1 per piece how can they justify this? Usually the quality of the food is good but on this occasion definitely NOT value for money.

This restaurant is lovely. The staff are very nice too. We went to the buffet night which was quite good and a good price for it too.

4 adults and one child arrived for buffet early dinner, although the restaurant was quiet we did wait to be seated and then for drinks. Food included in the buffet selection wad Nice, however we again waited for plates to be cleared, in fact we piled them ourselves eventually... good value at £95 for us all including drinks but service not great

I attended the restaurant with my daughter and decided to have the buffet. Absolutely the wrong choice I’m afraid. I opted for the Chicken pakora to start, only to find that there was four or five bits left and it was so hard it was inedible. I then went to choose a main meal and if I’m honest, I couldn’t stomach it by now. There was curry that had been stewing for approximately 20-minutes, thevdregs at the bottom of the container and it was rotten. The Nan Bread was like rubber and even the popadums were soggy.

I didn't read the reviews before ordering a home delivery. Will never get one again. We were promised delivery within an hour, we live just over a mile away. I could have walked it quicker. So an hour and a half later, having phoned and been assured it was on its way, I could only think it went via The north of England!

Food usually lovely. DO NOT order a home delivery from here unless you order 2/3 hours before you want it. After numerous phone calls, each time told on its way with driver, we gave up after two hours. No apologies. Shocking service for regular customers.

The buffet here is always extensive and worthwhile. It does seem to have gotten more expensive recently but still worth it for a treat. And the staff are really welcoming

Came here after work couldn’t be bothered cooking, buffet menu was on . I have had it a few times, so what the hell , starters were nice but the main meals were dishes that I have never eaten and I have eaten many over the many years they looked cheaply made and they were cold so come on Indian cottage put on popular dishes would I go back not a ooohhhh yyyeeessss But a mayyyybeee the loos were good

The food was good but too much waiting for the tureens to be refilled . Also the used plates formed towers on the tables waiting to be cleared. Too much waiting and not enough waiters.

This was to be a Mother’s Day treat for my wife and have never been so disappointed with this restaurant before.

We came on a Saturday night for a quiet meal. Unfortunately this was not to be as it is a very echoey and there was a party on the upper tier and we need up having to shout at each other

This was our first visit in over approximately 15 years (just never seemed to get round to going)...........however, on recommendations from family and friends we finally decided to visit on a Friday for the Buffet Lunch.

Visited here early one Friday evening to meet up with friends who live locally, they recommended the place so we were eager to give it a try. I was not disappointed, there were 4 of us all opting to eat from the main menu but we were given the option of the buffet.

The buffet is excellent value for money. All you can eat and all the best dishes! Excellent service, too.

Been here so many times and cant complain food is always lovely and service always excellent. My recent lunch visit was september weekend and it was so busy but nothing was a bother to them even though they were rushed of there feet.

I visited this restaurant on Saturday and the service and food were excellent. The king prawn tandoori was fantastic and all the food was very well presented.

Best curry for miles Ravi and Mani and all the staff look after you. Nothing is too much troubled just ask.

Been a lot of times to the Indian cottage's buffets on Fri/Saturdays and it's the best Indian food I've tried without doubt. Always good and plenty to choose from. Staff are always kind and pleasant too.

Hadn't been to the Indian Cottage for years until tonight. There have been more than a few changes in terms of decor, layout and staffing, but the main point - the food - is (mostly) still pretty good.I say mostly, as the three of our party who had the Indian food were more than happy with their selections. The two 'Europeans', however were not. Especially my elder daughter, whose 'medium rare' steak could have roofed a house, and was covered with onions (she doesn't like onions!). I do suspect it's the 'sizzling' hotplate they use for the steak - it was probably properly cooked in the kitchen, but well overdone by the time it gets to the table. My mother's Chicken Maryland was also overcooked, but nowhere as badly as the steak. Neither complained - it's not their way - and the place was busy so would have been a problem getting replacements in time.So if you go, go for the curries, etc., but beware the cooking of non-Indian food!

Great night with wonderful food. When I asked for indian masala tea, they made it for me even they didnt have it on their menu! Very friendly staff. Highly recommended!

Again the Indian Cottage was very friendly and staff very polite and nothing asked for is too much for them. Food as always very tasty and good value. Surroundings as you are eating are pleasant. Each year we hold two events there for our local canal festival and they are always very accommodating, even for those who prefer European food ( that is always a minority).

Visited for the first time, on a weekday evening. An interesting venue, bright and airy. We chose food from the menu, which offered a good range of "main stream" dishes. Service was quick and food was tasty and well priced.

Not the biggest selection to choose from but I pretty much tried a bit of everything on offer and honestly, everything was absolutely lovely, very fresh and tasty.

I am up visiting my cousin who know I like a good curry. We booked a table at the restaurant and got there around 18:30 we where quickly show to our table. The then ask us what we would like to we placed our drinks order. Then went to the buffet bar and the spread of what was on offer was very very good, I could not fault it from the cold/hot starters to main everything was very fresh as the food kept getting replenished. The best part was the lamb which just meted in my mouth. After that we still had to tackle the dessert which again was very good and even ice cream. Then you could have coffee or tea. Would I come here again yes with a doubt.

21 of our friends and family went to celebrate a wedding anniversary. The food was fantastic and the service was great nothing was to much bother. Kids loved it to. I would definitely recommend.

My wife and I are just back from the Indian cottage I have not been for a while you have a choice of the menu or the buffet , the buffet was wonderful freshly cooked and clean , worth a visit 2 soft drink and all you can eat for £31.50

After receiving a recommendation I decided to surprise my wife and daughter. On arrival met with a friendly welcome. Chose to have the Buffett. Ordered drinks and all was good. Good selection of food and was very nice. Service poor as we had several dirty plates left on the table whilst having dessert. Throughout the meal we were never asked if we wanted more drinks or if everything was ok. Restaurant was not busy and waiters appeared to only have time for locals. Very disappointed and don't think we will be back

Spent last night with 3 lovely friends having a very enjoyable buffet at the Indian Cottage. The rice and naan bread were topped up very quickly when it ran out and was delivered to our table by Ciaran who was very helpful, as all the staff were. Lots of choice, the lamb was so tender, thoroughly enjoyed the whole meal.

Just popped in for a quick monday lunch today and was pleased with the brilliant level of service I received from Kieran. He couldn't of been more helpful and his local knowledge meant we were able to plan our perfect afternoon sighseeing. Food was good too!

Regularly come here for buffett on a Friday night. It is reasonably priced, food plentiful, choice ok and not too spicy. Nice at end of a busy week when you don't want to cook and looking for something simple and comforting

Excellent buffet as always! Great choice of starters and main courses - I always have too many starters! Everything very tasty and good salad bar too. Restaurant always very clean and staff are helpful and friendly. Our party of three enjoyed everything and managed to fit in a wee piece of gateau and cream and to finish off a nice coffee.

My wife and I visited here tonight for a belated birthday buffet. Once again the food was amazing, constantly topped up with freshly cooked items. The service from the waiters was superb. Constantly clearing empty plates without being "in your face", and always willing to help. We have never felt rushed in here and there is a lovely ambience inside. Over the years we have been regulars here and willingly travel the few extra miles, it is so worth it.

Great curry and and great deal. As we were a very large party we had the buffet which had a wide range of options including a delicious vegetarian curry. Despite the number of people, the restaurant did not feel crowded. Tables were cleared quickly and staff were pleasant and helpful. All one would want from an Indian restaurant - good food, clean and comfortable, adequate parking and great value buffet.

We hadn't booked and turned up around 7pm on a Tuesday evening. Restaurant was busy, with two large birthday parties, yet still managed to get comfortably seated. Staff are all superb and attentive without being "in your face". Food was piping hot and freshly stocked up as necessary. This is one of our favourite treats and as such, we are recognised by all when we do go. Lovely friendly atmosphere, yet intimate too. We will definitely return

Great place to pop in for quick buffet after work. Two of us. We had the buffet. Up to three courses. Have as much as you like. Great choices of starters, mains and desserts like carrot cake, Victoria sponge. Drinks included Two pints of beer, one soft drink and one tea. Bill £25. Excellent value. Will be back.

I'm not long back from a lunch with my family to celebrate my wife and I 30th wedding anniversary, as I start work later it's a quick lunch. I knew that this place was here and short drive from my house. We all got the self service buffet, I was very impressed with the various options for starters,I had various beautiful starters , followed by a fantastic lamb bhoona which I had to have two portions of,I just managed to squeeze in a bit of carrot cake and fantastic caramel shortcake,very good staff and I'll certainly be back,well done to all the hard working staff in this brilliant restaurant. ..

The staff are very friendly and the food is great. As a vegetarian there is plenty to choose from on the menu. The prices are very competitive - try the buy one get one free lunch time menu - fantastic value. It is a good place for parties and celebrations. My favourites are the Tandoori King Prawn and the Vegetable Kashmiri Korma with Mangoes.

Nothing special. - buffets on most night - food hot but not sure how long it sits in the buffet.Saving grace is the good staff but in a very empty restaurant there is a real lack of atmosphere- you would be as well buying a carry-out and eating at home

Booked the mezzanine level for my birthday. On arrival the staff assisted by carrying in my large birthday cake from the car. We were introduced to our own personal waiter, Billy, who made sure we had everything we required and was very attentive throughout the evening. The food was first class chosen by my guests from the a la Carte menu. There were 15 of us in total in my party and everyone enjoyed their meal and the surroundings. We were not put under any time pressure although we were almost last to leave. I would certainly have no hesitation in recommending the restaurant both for the standard of its food and also the friendliness of the staff.

Delicious food, modern decor and amazing staff. Nothing is too much trouble. All food is cooked to order and fresh. Prices are great. Have had lunch offers and buffet and all has been fantastic.

The Indian Cottage is our preferred Indian restaurant. When we visit we tend to have the buffet, which is great, as are the lunchtime specials - extremely tasty and staff are always friendly and attentive, but we've never had a home delivery before... till last night. It was fab!... the best curries we have had in years. The richness and depth of flavour was just immense and all the accompaniments were spot-on as well. Came on time and the delivery guy was very polite. Faultless!

Service and atmosphere top notch. Food great and very authentic indeed. Excellent value and in fact I'd have expected to pay more for the quality of the meal. Will definitely be returning, plan to do more business in Glasgow so I can visit again soon!

My friend and I had a lovely lunch yesterday in the Indian Cottage. It was very good value for money. The food, service, staff, surroundings were all lovely. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meal and would highly recommend this. I have been to the buffet nights before and they are very good value for money too.

The Indian cottage is 1 of my local restaurants which I visit a few times a year. The food has always been good along with he service. But now both food and service is excellent. The atmosphere is nice and layed back, thanks to the professional staff. Good selection at the buffet which is topped up regularly for freshness.I can now say that this Is my favourite restaurant and can't recommend enough.

Totally disappointed, phoned the Indian Cottage for a delivery asked how long deliveries were taking as might collect order was told only a few orders in front of ours so wouldn't take long, placed order, staff member taking order very helpful this is really where the positives end! After 1 hour I phoned & spoke to a friendly member of staff to be told order had left & wouldn't be long, after another 25 minutes phoned again to be told again the order was on its way, when delivery driver arrived he was friendly but when asked he did say the order had been in his car for sometime, the food was lukewarm, all needed reheated which resulted in the food not being enjoyable & most of it going in the bin! We go to the Indian Cottage quite often as a family & never had a bad meal even when there has been 16 of us we have all left happy & any deliveries before we have always enjoyed, even more annoying my sister who lives near me phoned & her order arrived in 30 minutes. Also one of us was going out & ended up having to change plans!

I've always had great service here, it's clean and has a good choice of food. Lovely curries at the buffet. Would go back!

Use this restaurant all the time. Food is tasty and staff can't do enough for you . Buffet is especially good with a great variety of dishes.

Visited Indian cottage for the first time tonight and I must say what an amazing place the buffet is absolutely lovely everything piping hot and fresh it is by far the best Indian buffet I have ever visited a great atmosphere staff really friendly and reasonable prices to definitely be back to visit soon
