The Indian Cottage in East Dunbartonshire

Went there with my wife for dinner. Usually a buffet on but as we were the only ones there it wasn't available. They did do us a mini buffet for the table. Combination of 4 different starters, 4 different currys, a rice and a garlic naan. Was excellent. Think we just got a quiet night. Will definately be back.

Went for lunch on Thursday, genuinely was terrible. They should up the prices & actually give you a half decent sized portion. The chicken pakora was 3 tiny sized strips. The mains there was barely any sauce at all and the naan bread fell apart it was that thin. I will stick to takeaways from here as that’s usually better quality at night but over all extremely disappointing. Used to love going for lunch here, I know the cost of living crisis has affected everywhere and their wanting to seem competitive for lunch but at least charge 3-5 pound more and give a decent meal.

Great offers such as e course meal for 2 people £19.95, also have a buffet at night's, kids eat free with a paying adult. Plenty space can choose to sit on ground floor or upstairs. Great selection of food and drinks, good service and can just walk in.

First-time visit, but we'll definitely return. Very clean and well-lit, with attentive staff, the food would have to be exceptional to surpass all of this, and it did. Quality of the buffet was outstanding. Definitely a place I would 100% recommend.

Went here for the first time tonight. It was lovely, food was good, service was excellent, staff were nice and friendly. Will with out a doubt be back in the near future for the Buffett.

Takeaway, food was good (much better than the stuff we threw away the other week from a well known Lenzie based Indian restaurant), pakora was nice, chicken pakora was juicy and not dried out, rice was fab, bhuna was nice and not watery at all, poppadoms crispy and fresh, garlic naan was amazing and still hot by the time we got home, the spicy onions were delicious. Not been in ages and avoided because of bad reviews, glad we went back! Keep up the good food guys 😁

Long time since we had last been but my wife and I turned up last Saturday night for our 8pm booking and we were the only 2 people in the restaurant. Fortunately whilst eating another 6 people came in but still very quiet for a Saturday night Despite this the food was good and service was very quick The fact the restaurant was so quiet on a Saturday night would put me off going back as there was no atmosphere and appeared almost as many staff as customers

I've only ever had takeaway from here. It's always ready at the promised time and the staff are welcoming and friendly. The quality and portions are some of the best I've experienced. Looking forward to trying sitting in!

Best indian restaurant in Scotland!!

This used to be a very good restaurant. We were there at Christmas and couldn't fault it. This week we returned and found the opposite. The chicken wings were dry and tasteless. The rice was cold and the curry was watery. The chicken in the patia was dry and also lacked flavour

Very nice Indian restaurant in kirkintilloch town. Nice Good, Family atmosphere, especially the upper sitting section is so nice.

Had a nice buffet, and the staff were very friendly.

Food, service and price all spot on absolutely no issues as far as I'm concerned will definitely be back.

Went for a family meal last night. Service was first class. Plenty of choice on the menu. Food was delicious. Staff were very friendly & helpful. We hadn't been there for food in a long time but definitely will be back soon!

Simply said, the food is excellent! And the 3-course menu for 14.99 GBP is a great value, with large portions. My only gripe is that the service, though efficient, could be more helpful. For example, if you bring me a platter with three sauces, briefly tell me what each one is and what they pair well with--don't just drop it on my table and walk away. But again, the food quality is superb, especially for the money.

Been going to the cottage for years for parties and buffets and carry outs But Thursday will be my last for the curry I got was not fit for a dog.Bring back Ravi for he would make sure it was edible.

Picked up a curry on my way to see gran. Pretty solid curry actually. Probably not the wisest choice to go for the prawns but so far no complaints. They didn’t go cheap with the sauces- more than enough. Cheap and cheerful

I hosted a family dinner there for 34 of us. I know its a lot at one time so we went there to talk it through. We were assured that we would have upstairs our own waiting staff the buffet would be brought up and whatever we needed it would be there. I could not fault the area we got , the service, the food. I would recommend it for large parties.

Another lovely lunch at a great price ( £12.95 or £13.95 for two) I once again had vegetable pakora and lamb curry, and Himself had fish & chips, all very good. I’d recommend it.

We walked right off the John Muir Way and followed our noses into this restaurant. Because we didn't stop for lunch until 3pm, we got the pre-theatre menu. It had many excellent choices. We all had vegetable and mushroom pakoras, followed by delicious nan (and the largest I've ever seen), curry vegetables and chicken tiki masala. We had a very nice house merlot and ice cold draft Tennents. The service was impeccable. Side note: the bathrooms were spotless. A wonderful stop that we were all very happy with.

We had not been to the Indian Cottage for many a moon, but went for lunch for Himself's birthday. Ravi ( whom we later discovered was now the owner!) was welcoming, friendly, and funny. Himself is not a curry eater, but enjoyed his chicken soup ( which Ravi informed us was tinned, in case that was a problem. It wasn't!) Omelette & chips got thumbs up also. My pakora was outstanding, fresh and crispy, and the lamb curry was splendid, so much so that I asked if I could take the rest of it home with me! A couple of ice creams, and our food bill FOR TWO was £12.95. We'll definitely be back .

We have driven past this place often and never went in . Today we did and the only downside was we had not tried it sooner. Everything was fresh and presented well. We went on a wednesday and had the set menu. The staff were smart and friendly and the young lady who served us was lovely and took the time to explain the different dishes on offer.She also allowed us time to enjoy our food and did not rush us. I do not know her name but she was a delight. I will be back with our very large family as they have a buy one get one free deal on their lunch deals.Please try this placeyou will not be sorry.

Visit regularly with family for Sunday buffet. Food is excellent and the choice of food on the menu meets everyone's tastes. Service consistently good and staff friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this great restaurant.

One of the better quality Indian restaurants in the Glasgow area, I mainly have a buffet dinner when I use this restaurant as they have a brilliant choice at a very reasonable price.

This has been a firm family fav for us for over 20 years. Staff are first class and friendly. I love my lamb sagg with chillies and it always hits the spot. Good work chaps.

Just had a great curry. Meal fantastic. If you can’t find what you want on the menu, just ask. They are only there to help everyone. From first timer to Indian food to experienced, seasoned foodies, everyone has a great experience.. Food and drink are very competitively priced and decor great. They also have the option of a buffet or a la carte. Both are wonderful.

Haven't been to the Indian cottage in over 10 years, but have recently moved back to the area so my fiancé and myself decided to go tonight for a tasty Indian buffet. We were both very impressed with both the service and the food. We took our young son with us aswell and we were made to feel very welcome which makes all the difference. Both of us ate and drank well for less than £40, great value for money and we will most definitely be back!

Visited with a number of friends and the manager laid on a special platter delivered to our table. Food was absolutely super and staff are really friendly and helpful. Give this place a try, you will not be disappointed.

Been visiting the Cottage for about seven years now and have never had a bad meal, from either the buffet or from the menu.

Lunchtime - buy one get one free - chichen pakora followed by south indian garlic chilli chicken - to die for - yum yum!

Had a nice lunch , good value at £11.95 buy one get one free,the dishes are the usual ones, bhoona,curry,patia and korma.There is another deal of £12.95 bygof with better tikka dishes.Both menus also have a good selection of starters .Service was efficient probably as there were not many customers in.Have been a few times here for lunch and will definitely come back.
