Indian Chef in Rotherham

We recently moved to dinnington, and have wanted to try this spot. Such a lovely place, amazing customer service, and generous tasty food. I would recommend the Chicken Tikka with garlic naan. The owner himself is a lovely individual - happy to live by such a lovely indian takeout with GREAT food

Just order a takeaway at 6 . 30 pm today it was cold and very bland cost £25 not worth money shall not order from them again Paul todwick

First time I’ve ordered from here but it won’t be the last. Really lovely food, perfectly spiced for me. Friendly service, even when I messed up the order and had to ring to change it. Can’t rate them highly enough.

Absolutely awful!!! Avoid this place at all costs! Food arrived over 1 hour late and was cold when it finally did arrive. £30 wasted! First time ordering from Indian Chef and the LAST !

Had a takeaway from here as it was highly recommended by friends. Delivery was a little slow. The food wasn’t really to our taste. Portion size wasn’t as good as other restaurants. Not much chicken in the Korma (or the other dishes for that matter). I don’t think we’ll be back. Follow on - we tried again. Delivery was 90 minutes instead of the quoted 45. The food was cold and in my case not at all tasty. Think I might stick to my guns this time and go elsewhere.

Always nice food. Never an issue. Kids and adults enjoyed every bit of food and nothing left. Fine the next day too which is not normal I find from Indians. Beautiful food and friendly staff.

Just had a takeaway from here and never ever again , we had the tikka masala which can only be described as lemon juice and vinegar,,,threw it all in the bin , all my years of eating curries and have never been able to say I’ve had a bad one until tonight. Please read the reviews before ordering On the plus side the delivery driver was nice , shame the food wasn’t

Just ordered a Chicken Tikka Masala from them. It arrived and tasted bitter, either the top came off the salt or some ingredients were used wrongly. It was absolutely vile. Like no Tikka Masala I’ve ever had before. Avoid!

I can’t recommend this little gem of a takeaway enough! The food is just fantastic, so authentic and really hard to beat. You won’t be disappointed 😊

Frequented Indian chef for many years azad is a lovely fella but I think now his high standards are being let down Had a meal a while ago that had so much lemon in it was almost inedible put it down to nothing than an off night Tonight we returned my chef's special biryani was tasteless the Madras hot sauce which I requested was calmer than a Korma, my wife's dopiaza was no better The bahji starter was thin and over cooked like biting card board, the other starter was meat samosas and these were under cooked and outer was not crisby but very soggy Naan bread was garlic but could find very little if any in it Azad I am very sorry for this poor review this is not what you built and we have had many very good meals from you over the last 20 plus year's but you are being let down,

I have just moved to the area and fancied an Indian takeaway... I saw all the stars this take away had but didnt read the reviews... What a mistake... This was the most atrocious Indian meal I have ever had... the chicken Balti had no taste at all, just a plain chicken flavour and nothing else... the Chicken Tika Masala just tasted of vinegar and nothing else... the sheik kebab was cold and tasteless, and the onion bhaji was like a flat beef burger shaped, cold gunge... The pauperdoms were soggy and tasteless, and the mint dip was just plain yoghurt... The nan bread had the texture of neoprene... Never again... Everything went in the bin! Absolutely disgusting! I wasted £35.00 on revolting inedible muck!

Absolute disgusting I will never ever order from here again!! All the order was so cold like it had come out of the fridge not the pan, prawns was off and didn’t taste like an Indian!!

Weve stayed away from the Indian Chef for a while as we had a bad meal some months ago. Today we thought we'd give them another chance. Big mistake ! Soggy popadoms - how long do they have to sit before going soggy ? I'm guessing overnight. Lamb Kalia had no mint and no green chillies - it was a mild stew and not the fresh hot dish that they produced in previous years. Lamb Dansak was bland - none of the freshness that it used to have - no hint of lemon. Lamb had lots of gristle still attached - I know it will not be prime cuts of meat but trim the rubbish off at least ! Foil tray of rice not filled - how cheap is rice not to fill the container? Last time I called the restaurant to advise of the poor meal - it seems that this is now the norm so I wont waste thier time. Pity as this used to be a great takeaway

As my normal takeaway is inaccessible due to road closure, I thought I'd give this one a try having read mostly good reviews about it. I went in just after opening so they weren't at all busy, ordered Chicken Achari for myself, Chicken Makhani for the wife, two naan breads, two Pilau Rice and a portion of chips, I also asked for coriander on mine. Got it home, the Makhani had become Tikka Massala, only one naan bread, no coriander, and not enough under cooked chips to feed a mouse! At £25 it wasn't cheap, absolutely no excuse for the mix ups, food wasn't a patch on my usual place, normally I'd have rang them back but I live 15 miles away. Definitely won't be returning.

Good food , staff very polite, have eaten Azad’s food for many years and will continue to do so. Take a way is always on time and hot.

Absolutely fantastic Iv been coming here for probably 15 years. Sometimes we have takeaway at home and sometimes we eat in. Tonight we ate in. Masala cod perfect crispy on the outside with beautiful Chucky cod inside. King prawn tikka masala fabulous not too hot lovely and rich and creamy. Mushroom rice my favourite. My partner had chicken methi proper authentic methi cooked same as in Goa. Outstanding service. Thank you great night. Look forward to coming back soon. Zoe and John. Xx

We visited the restaurant at 5pm on a Saturday evening. Despite it being booked out for a private party the owner squeezed us in and opened the restaurant for us.The food was fantastic, tasty, well spiced and plentiful. Nothing was too much trouble and the owner made us feel very welcome. A lovely meal and a place I will go back to.The only criticism is they don’t have a highchair.

Heaven forbid on any occasion they dont have the time to take your order at the time youre working out what you want. They disappeared for 10 minutes and I got fed up on waiting for them to come back. It was a simple "give me a sec" to which was replied "ok be right back", which never happened. Will make me think twice about going. I have been in the past and had perfect service, and lovely food, but that was because I knew what I wanted I think.

Great food, just ask for mild, medium or hot, nothing is too much trouble. Just take your own booze it makes an enjoyable inexpensive night out. Love it.

2 hours waiting for a take away, promised twice it was close but they just tell lies! Wouldn’t recommend them try elsewhere.

The food was absolutely faultless sizzling starter for 2 was fresh absolutely lovely lamb madras,chillie chicken garlic narn & keema rice portions very large very good value for money no alcohol is served on premises but bring your own...soft drinks available.The owner is such a lovely Freindly man.

Very welcoming environment. Food is delicious and nothing you ask for is too much. Reasonably priced in comparison to other places. Do a great sizzling starter for two consisting of grilled peppers and onions etc but with chicken tikka meat lamb kofta and fish. Very tasty. Lamb Malaya my favourite dish. Bring your own alcohol. They do sell soft drinks ie Coca Cola etc

Visit here quite often, lovely little local place, great homemade food and a great host. We always have a good meal, be it in the restaurant or a take away. love it.

Delicious food, the owner is a lovely friendly man and can’t do enough for his customers, ask him for anything at all and he’ll bend over backwards to accommodate you. And did I mention the food is delicious! Highly recommend.

We ordered a takeaway from the Indian Chef two weeks ago it was delicious well cooked. The prawns and lamb were both succulent and well spiced. I am recommending both the takeaway and the restaurant menus. Well worth a visit.

As usual the food was absolutely fantastic and the service was great. I am moving away for 6 months so we decided to have a last family meal together before I left and Indian Chef and the staff did not disappoint - Thank you Azad for a fantastic evening! Cannot wait to return in 6 months time!

Love the food from this restaurant but have been left waiting almost 2 hours for delivery three times recently so not recommending it for that . We will pick up our order in future . The food was cool when we go it . Still very tasty but would have liked it to be hot . They put the phone down on me when I rang to complain about the food being cold when delivered . I won’t bother with delivery but would recommmend you try the food .

Food arrived in time but was cold. The korma once it was on the plate lumped together and the rice was overcooked. Overall not happy.

unfortunately, they delivered the wrong dish. although this was replaced, it is the second time this has happened and meant we had to wait another 20 mins for our main course. the food is generally good, but I don’t want to receive a veg dish instead of the more expensive king prawns we ordered!

food would have been ok I think had it not been cold due to delivery. ordered food and was told an hour and 20 before delivery. Lived with that. it then another 20 mins after that before it actually arrived.

Absolutely inedible and such a shame as we have never had a problem here before. The chips were old and had clearly been heated through. The rice tub was only half filled and was very dry. The sauce on our curries looked fine when we took the lid off, but after 10 mins on the plate it went thick, lumpy and dry. It was tasteless. I have noticed similar reviews in recent months. Photos sent to Just Eat and refund processed - sorry guys just not up to scratch!

Didn't give me 2 garlic naans as ordered and paid for got 1 plain and was said I will be refunded for the naan bread and wasn't but the food was delicious couldn't fault it portions in my opinion are slightly small but great quality tasty food

Great quality food but the portions were really small a portion of rice isn't big enough for two people and a portion of chips isnt big enough for two people either and the nan breads are really small again not enough for two. Quality of the food was absolutely spot on, just up the portion sizes guys and would be perfect.

Very strange tasting tikka masala. not what I was expecting. very sour flavor. won’t be ordering again. quite expensive really.

Expensive. Food 45 minutes late which we did get an apology for, however, we got two of the same curry even though we ordered two very different curries. The curry we did receive was inedible, the sauce was lumpy and tasted like it had gone off. So we resorted to eating poppadoms and naan bread. Not impressed for £30+

As vegetarians we know we will always have a huge choice of beautiful dishes at Mr.Azad’s. He is introducing some new veggie dishes soon, one of which my husband tried tonight, Vegetable Mowabi. It’s full of fresh veg, green and red chillis, mint and corriander.

After 2 hours the order didn't arrive. I had to collect it and leave my guests at home. After asking if the food I was being given was the original order and being told yes. I had to say this would be cold by now and the staff member told me they had made another. This evidently was true and I had to wait a long period for it to be brought out; oviosuly being cooked. I finally brought my order home at 9.45pm. This was ordered at 7pm! I was offered more food as compensation and refused this as we already had enough food. I was then offered £10 refund which was minimal considering the order was over £50, extremely late, and missing an item!

Ate here with a couple of friends, one of which has been telling us about the place for ages so finally we listened to his advice. Food was great everything was very freshly prepared from the pickle tray to the mains all the food looked and tasted great. I had the lamb nuwabi and brinjal bahji with naan and chapati all were excellent, both mates said thier food was great aswell, clear plates all around. Will be back. The owner was talking to us throught the evening and he was very friendly. 5 star service and food

We’ve been going to Indian Chef for many years. I love the selection of vegetarian dishes. They are always well cooked and well presented and taste lovely. My favourites are Bringle Baji and Vegetable Balti are my favourite dishes. I don’t eat indian food anywhere else!

Called here last night for the first time in ten years. Food was delicious and served piping hot. Great service and value for money. I had the Chicken Bhuna and really enjoyed it. We wont leave it so long next time.

been using Indian Chef for years and years. mostly really good stuff I’ve had the odd one that wasn’t great over the years but pound for pound been the best Indian take away for a long time. that was until tonight. ordered a chicken tikka balti and when I opened the container there was enough oil in the bottom to start another gulf war. I had to strain the whole dish to get rid of the oil hardly any sauce at all left when I’d done. shame cos it tasted ok and everything else was ok. but I’m going to look elsewhere next time I fancy an Indian takeaway.😥

The staff confirmed food would be delivered between 45 to 1 hour. 1 hour and a half later, the driver was ‘just setting off’. They offered a measly £1 discount or poppadoms, refused to compensate any further, and said a 10 minute drive would only be five minutes. Delivery guy then refused to hand over the money before the food (as they have ALWAYS done) and drove off without handing us anything. I’m never using this place again. Good food isn’t worth appalling service.

If it's a stunning Curry your after I can recommend the Indian Chef at the bottom of Dinningtons's high street. They turn out the best dishes in the area. Be careful making your choices though as there's some really hot dishes. If you just want a nice blend of spices I'd order an Tikka-Bhuna, not too hot but full of flavours. I recently been having their Lamb dishes.

Ordered chicken Tikka pasta and it's was perfect the best pasta I've had and last time I ordered a prawn pasta and that was perfect I would recommend their pasta dishes to everyone great meal and perfect size portion

Great food and fantastic service

WOW, what an experience. Had takeaway. We ordered 3 main dishes and then sides. All the main dishes were so disgusting. The tika masala was like clay in texture and tasted purely of vinegar. The chicken was nearly cold. The other dishes we had, we played a guessing game of "what am i eating". With your eyes closed you had no idea at all what you were eating. To top it off, there was something really sharp in my curry and i ended up in A&E; to see what i had swallowed. Never ever again.

The first time I visited this restaurant I never got past the lobby. I thought that it was just a takeaway, perhaps with a pokey table. This was a big mistake. we have since been back on a number of occasions and we have always been delighted with the standard and quality of the meal, the friendliness of the owner, the depth of his knowledge and advice.

Been eating take away from here for over 15 years and still love it. Nothing is too much trouble and weve never had a dish that we didn't enjoy. Plenty of choice for us vegetarians too. Great service and always time for a chat while we're waiting for our food. A local gem.
