La Pondicherry in Rotherham

Another lovely meal at La Pondicherry. We eat here every three weeks. Cannot fault it. Excellent service and friendly staff.

Very worst packing, poor in hygiene, worst behaviour to customer and i rejected the order straight away. Your reply and your packing will shows your standard… Keep it up

This lovely restaurant is very close to where I live. I went on a Wednesday gourmet evening £15.95. The food was fantastic great value for money

Ordered prawn curry, and the prawns were very tough and rubber, the curry sauce was very watery which suggests it had been frozen. I was expecting much better for the price.

Ordered at 18.45 for a 20.15 delivery. The food arrived at 20.42. The food was very nice once here.

food was hot and tasty. only thing is we ordered £40 of food with starters and poperdoms and only got 1 youget and mint dip. which I paid for. could of put a few dips in

My wife took me here for my birthday 2 years ago and can honestly say it's was amazing hence why I give it 4 stars 🌟 but 6 months after we went to order a takeaway spending over £30 and although my wife says hers was OK mine was absolutely horrific and totally tasteless and to be fair has put me off returning even though the sit down was gorgeous as stated....Can you please explain how takeaway and restaurant dishes can be so different?

What has happened to this Indian? It used to be one of the best, I ordered a takeaway tonight it arrived on time by a very friendly delivery driver but the quality of the good was so poor, did not feel fresh or authentic, tasteless dry and chewy!

Food is definitely not authentic. Don’t know what they were trying to do, trying too hard but the curry was just a container full of pickles and far too overpowering and the rest of the food had no flavour.

Good food, excellent portions. Promt service. I had the steak which was ok. Not brilliant but it wasn't really a steak place. I wanted something different while family wanted curries. They noted the curries were fine and the biriani was very tasty.

Fantastic restaurant! We visited for our wedding anniversary and enjoyed it that mich we might just make it our tradition. Staff were helpful, polite and well mannered whilst the food was fresh and delicious. So delicious we had our leftovers wrapped and took them home!

Not worth the ridiculous prices. Paid 18.40 for these two items (via Deliveroo).

Very average food, naan bread over cooked plus service wasn’t great didn’t listen to half of the things I tried ordering. Then didn’t bring out the item I did order needs improving.

Confusion over the booking but once that was rectified, all was good. A nice clean restaurant and the food was very nice.

We called in and ordered food to take out. Food was fantastic so fresh and tasty and Sammy who took our order was great at advising what I might like to try from the menu as not had much experience with trying something new. Really nice decor, Sammy was very friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable, think this will definitely be a regular treat for me. Price very reasonable for quality also.

THIS PLACE HAS GAVE ME TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE FOOD POISONING! My visit was 04/05/24. I've had probaby 10 showers since lastnight and haven't left the bathroom properly for 24 hours. We knew it tasted strange and the meat texture was off, but trusted the place and carried on eating. What a bad Decision!

Never really bother with reviews but honestly the food was so bad I can’t not! I ordered paneer massala and my husband ordered paneer pasanda both curries looked identical and were insanely sweet with absolutely zero depth of flavour only difference in taste was my husbands was sweeter so presumably they made one curry and added mango chutney to make the second one. Both curries were watery and left puddles in the bottom of the dish. The rice was like baby food with some spices thrown in, was definitely not basmati! Only saving grace was the fries and the garlic paratha which is all we ate the rest was horrible and dispute trying to eat it it went in the bin.

Great food! A few more paneer based veggie curries would be a bonus, but the current option on the menu is a beaut.

We had the Sunday banquet meal. Lovely food, well presented and good price.

I ordered for a specific time and was informed it was ready 25 minutes early. They then said that was an error and it would be cooked fresh for the time I requested. However, when I collected it, the food was barely lukewarm and had to be reheated in the microwave.

Came here for a couple's meal. Food not great. Poppadoms were really nice, starters wasn't nice at all and same for the main. Over priced. Very friendly and attentive staff, shame about the food.

Had takeaway meal. Popadoms with pickles and onion sals. Salad was soggy and not fresh. Main course dishes were very watery, again, and lamb in one dish was rock hard. Pity because the meals are well spiced and flavoured. Definitely not worth the money, and will not be having food from here again

We went on a Wednesday evening and you can choose from the set menu which is good value. It's two courses plus a nan and rice. Service is great well looked after, and they are very attentive. The only thing that frustrates me is the cost of the beer (cobra) this £5.95 a pint. I don't believe anyone should be charging that price.

Being on business in Rotherham I tried here. ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT FOOD. THE PORTIONS ARE GENEROUS. The starter was brilliant, chicken Chat, and the main for garlic chilli chicken, keema rice and chapatti was amazing

Disappointing takeaway overall. The curry was bland and oily. The lamb starter was dry and overcooked. Only the bhajis were nice.

Gave this place another go at the weekend for a takeaway. Been three times in last couple years and it was once again completely tasteless and covered in oil. The only thing edible was the naan bread. Avoid and go to pubjab instead

We'd heard some great reviews from friends who have been but also saw some not so favourable Trip Advisor reviews so had to give it a go. What surprised us was how quiet it was for a 7:30 booking on a Saturday evening. The service was friendly and not rushed, drinks brought promptly while we scoured the menu. It wasn't easy to chose as there were many dishes that we hadn't heard of. I ordered a mixed kebab style of starter that was really flavoursome and well presented, far better than the usual spicy fodder at other restaurants. The choice of main needed some assistance, I asked what was a dish with 'ginger' as I'm not a 'map of bonanza' curry type of person. The dish was again very tasty and exactly the type I love. The other diners were just as complimentary about their choices. It was up there with the best Indian food we have tasted. The only surprise was that no desserts were available to finish the evening off? I would definitely recommend giving it a try based on the service and quality of food we had on the night, we will be going back and we travelled from Chesterfield.

Absolutely beautiful food, I ordered the chicken tikka masala and it was just the best. The texture and the taste was just bang on. The service was welcoming and was ready on time for my collection, I will most definitely will be returning to try other curry’s ❤️

I visited La Pondicherry tonight and must say was very disappointed! I understand they were extremely busy however I feel there should’ve been much better communication between staff members. First of all, we were sat at the table right outside the kitchen (table 17), I was facing the kitchen and saw one of the waiters put both of our curries in the microwave , which put me off from the start! Both of our curries were very tasteless and watery. I found a piece of metal in my curry and we ordered a cheese and garlic naan which had no cheese on. I hate to complain, however after spending £70 for 2 of us it’s not good enough. Unfortunately will not be returning :(

After making a reservation at La Pondicherry online one week prior we arrived at 7.55pm for a reservation at 8.00pm. We were greeted immediately to be told our table was not ready. We were asked to leave and come back at 8.30pm. There was no explanation give and no apology offered. We could clearly see that the place was busy however a RESERVATION is made for a REASON. This place really needs to focus and upgrade their customer service skills and understand the meaning of a RESERVATION!!!! We chose not to return at 8.30pm for obvious reasons. This experience cost a grand total of £25 in return taxis. Should you choose to dine at La Pondicherry I would recommend you have a food back up plan back at home. We will not return.

Starter really nice but Currys were horrible very watery and tasteless meat like rubber spoke to waiter but nothing was done we won't be returning

The food here is absolutely amazing so fresh and great tasting! Loved the fact after the starters staff check when we were ready for the main and gave us a light break rather than bring it straight out! It’s been awhile since we last went but definitely will be back soon just hope they still have the scallops on the fish starter menu- delicious!!! There was a large party in but still food was fresh and in a timely manner! Brilliant service!

Was really looking forward to trying pondicherry but was disappointed, the staff seem great the starters were slightly above average but the main meals were worst than ready meals the chicken is frozen cheap chicken the stuff you get in a 25kg block and the sauces have very little taste. The place had a strange toilet smell too, it was a bit off putting. Won’t be trying again !!!

Food was ok , curry quite sweet and watery but ok , but i was over charged it said 26 on the order but at the restaurant it was just under 32 !!

Lovely meal on new years eve 🎉 We had pre booked, they unfortunately couldn't find our booking, but soon sorted it out and seated us :) Staff are great and good service. Food is amazing, will be back soon!

Order was ready for the specified pick up time ... food was tasty...however on the downside I had to leave some to reheat for tomorrow ha ha.

Very rude service that we vacated without even reaching the ordering stage. We wanted a seat next to the walls and there were plenty free but they preferred us to leave rather than relocate us. It was the first time we went and it will be the very last!

Omg I saw a rat scurrying under the table and the place was dusty and stunk bad. Do they even have cleaners? We just abandoned our food and ran out as fast as we could. Don't like rats. No way!

Tummy ache straight after and had to be hospitalised. I think the food wasn't cooked properly but I kept chewing anyway thinking it was just me.

The staff seemed too busy and stressed that they really didn't want us to be there and were very rude and abrupt with us. We just left because we didn't feel comfortable and went to an Italian instead.

La pondicherry is by far the best restaurant I use. Nothing is ever too mich trouble for them. We come on most special occasions. Spent last Christmas day there and we are there again this year. All the staff are amazing. Ignore the fake scam reviewers. Try it for yourself I assure you that you won't be disappointed

The waiter sneezed in my food and gave it me anyway. I said can you get me a new one. He said that he would have to charge for another. I said you just sneezed in my food. He told me to eat it. I told him get lost and went. AVOID!

Very Very disappointed with the food... Chicken tasted as it had been boiled or frozen and then thawed out, lots of water in it, no texture to the chicken. Not big nice chunks of chicken.. Curry was very runny, lacked thickness and taste. Garlic naan ok, nothing to write home about and chicken pakorras to start with.... For the price of £35 with a rice, two mains, naan and starter I wouldn't recommend the takeaway, no taste, texture and the chicken has been thrown in the bin as stated above. First time take-away.....Won't be ordering or visiting the venue again.....extremely poor....

Always lovely curries and staff

This restaurant is great. No complaints at all. For those with Hearing Impairments or Sensory needs, it is very noisy when busy, it's just the building that makes it that way.

This is without a doubt the best Indian restaurant I have ever dined at. The service is exceptional, with the manager spending time talking through different items on the menu. Then once the food arrived it was presented beautifully. The taste of the food is fenominal. This food is truly deserving of multiple Michelin stars.

Just ordered 2 meals ( tikka and korma ) 1 rice 1 nan 1 popa 1 chutney Just ordered for home delivery live round the corner, very disappointed watery curries small portions and very expensive for what we got will definitely not order from here again wish I’d just gone to McDonald’s.
