Take away sat 01.04.23 ordered a takeaway meal , told one hour for delivery, after several calls back to check on the status of my order , I finally got it 2hour 20min later , the worst service I've ever experienced from a takeaway and will never use them again .😡

We ordered from here this evening and I had a Saag which was beautiful the meat was tender and juicy , my husband ordered a lamb biryani and he said it’s the best he’s ever tasted which he’s tasted a few after travelling all over the world as a chef.

Wow what an absolute gem of a place. We went to the five rivers punjabi grill for our friends birthday and we can honestly say it is the best Indian food we have ever had!!!! The experience was superb and the staff are so lovely and attentive. We can't wait to go back. Thank you 5* ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Passed this a few times and it looked great. Finally went on Sunday and the outside is deceiving. I quickly realised this wasn't what I was expecting. Inside is more like a cafe than a restaurant, not a cosy place at all with chairs and stuff stacked in an area to the right of the door. I don't expect a great selection of beers so I asked for a dark fruit cider...that was just for show. I ordered a bottled cider and I was asked if I wanted a glass or just the bottle...I'm going for a meal 🙄. At the bar I glanced through to the kitchen and there was scraps of food all over the floor and on the kitchen sides. I wouldn't have minded so much but the kitchen staff were sat around on their phones and the restaurant was empty bar for one couple. No reason to have a dirty kitchen. We were told by the bar woman/ waitress (just the one doing everything so clearly not busy regularly, at least in a Sunday) that our table was ready. I picked up my drink and noticed the sell by date MAY 2020. I took the bottle to the bar and complained. I was given a weak 'sorry, I don't know how that's happened' I pointed out it was nearly 2 and a half years out of date, how the hell can that happen? I didn't eat, if the kitchen is so dirty and the drinks be so much out of date, I wasn't risking. Indian food can disguise a multitude of sins. This was clearly stock from before the lock down that they still couldn't sell because a lack of eat in customers. If they do that with drinks I dread to think about their food hygiene and how long they keep ore prepared meat. The waitress came and apologised and said the manager was on his way. That was a lie too, no manager on site, he never came. Whilst I was away from the table (the rest of my party still had food), the waitress came with the bill and said 10% had been knocked off the overall bill. That was £4...they never refunded the cost of my drink in the first place 😠 I'll stick to Bollywood in Wickersley, a proper restaurant! *1 star given as you can't give 0

Been a few times but last night was changed my meal from buna to lamb rogan josh brilliant will keep going back

This is the first time I have eaten at Five Rivers Punjabi Grill and it did not disappoint. The food was amazing and I will certainly be returning. The meal was also brilliant value for money and portion sizes are great. The kids menu for a also fantastic.

We came last Saturday and don’t have enough good things to say about this place. The food was delicious, authentic, generously portioned, and the hospitality was stand out! Despite living 20-30 mins away, we will definitely be making the journey to come back and will tell friends about it too!!

We decided to make an off-the-cuff visit to this lovely restaurant and take-away in Maltby, near Rotherham. Wow! What a gem. The staff can’t do enough to help and the food was stunning. We had a complimentary poppadom each and pickle tray. Great start, and pr work, by the staff! For starters we had the onion bhajis and vegetable samosas… all made on the premises. Non of your bought-in stuff. I had the old staple, chicken tikka masala and pilau rice, and hubby had lamb biryani. We had a plain nan and a Peshwari nan. My word!!! There was enough in the two portions to feed at least five very hungry people. We have tomorrow’s evening meal sorted out with the remainder, and we could have a friend round too. 😉😂 The menu is not extensive, but covers all the basics. If there’s something you’d like that’s not there, if they can, they’ll make it for you. The prices are very reasonable too. We’ve been struggling to find a good place for Indian/Pakistani/Bangladeshi/Punjabi food locally. I think we’ve just hit gold! Give this place a try for dine-in or takeaway/delivery. It really is excellent.

This is the best Indian around we have been to all in Doncaster but nothing compares to 5 rivers we eat here at least once a week

Went here Saturday night must say we've been to alot of Indian restaurants and this is now our favourite! the food was beautiful big portions and the staff was so helpful and would cater for any needs will definitely be returning

Visited this evening (Friday 19th November 2021) with almost 30 guests for a surprise 50th birthday meal. We had a fantastic evening, staff (Bobbie) was absolutely fantastic and couldn’t do enough for us, as was the manager himself. I have never been in a more welcoming and friendly restaurant as this, nothing was too much trouble and I can’t thank them enough for making our evening so special. The food was amazing as always. I can honestly highly recommend this place to anyone. Well done Five Rivers & thank you! 😊

Went hear Sunday night and it was the best Indian I have had am glad we went the staff was very friendly the place was clean and the food was just full of flavor definitely recommend

This is the first time we have used this restaurant, when I went in I was greated with happy friendly hosts. I can tell you all that it is by far one of the best places I have ever ordered food from, tasty, nice, none oily sauces great taste rice and sundries. It is rare for me to leave a review but this place was well deserving of the time thank you.👍

We moved to the area a few months ago and tried Five Rivers. The food was fantastic - well prepared, aromatic and pungent with fresh herbs and spices. The last two times we've ordered the food was really substandard. Just sloppy gravy with curry powder and chilli powder. I can only assume the previous chef left, or perhaps gave up the will to live/cook. Sadly we won't be ordering again as it's very disappointing to see such low standards in their food after having such high ones previously. Time to find a new favourite.

Would not recommend at all.Last week ordered food from Just eat.Arrived 20 minutes late and was wrong meal. 30 minutes later I received correct replacement meal .I was promised a full refund which I have never received .Starter of mixed meats was ok but main course of chicken tikka was tasteless.Steer clear of this place.

First time takeaway here and it definitely will not be our last. It was so tasty and piping hot, they even called us when it was ready to collect. Very tasty and NOT a plastic container in sight, no leakage oil and packed great. Thank you for a really enjoyable meal. Regards Lynda & Andy

Ordered a takeaway from here based on recommendations from people in the village. It all started to go wrong when we ordered. The charge for delivery which I accept. They charge extra to order through just eat. And charge extra for paying through Apple Pay. The charges were almost more than the food!! Anyway. Order placed - delivery time one hour. Two hours later it arrived with no apology or explanation. I don’t mind waiting two hours if I’m told it will take that long - I can then make a choice - wait or go elsewhere. I had prawn Pathia which tasted very nice although prawns were few and far between - I did find a couple hiding under a piece of tomato!! Can’t remember what my wife had but she wasn’t particularly impressed although she enjoyed it. So, overall I wasn’t impressed at all. If the food had been excellent I could perhaps have forgiven the late arrival especially if they had acknowledged that it was late and apologised. I’m summary - food was ok but short on the main ingredient and delivery was unbelievably bad. An hour late is just not acceptable.

Fantastic. First time we've ordered, despite it being on our doorstep. It is hands down the best Indian I've ever had. Great flavour, big portions, reasonable price and quick delivery time. Not greasy in the slightest, which is my usual pet hate. Will definitely be ordering again.

This place is the best in rotherham for spicey food the quality is outstanding the taste is awesome and it is really value for money portions are very above average i can feed a family of 5 inc drinks for £40 and still have food left highly recommended if there is 1 thing to moan about it is the service speed but good things come to those who wait 😍😍😍

First time visiting the five rivers punjabi restaurant. Definitely won't be the last, this place is by far the gem of Maltby, very highly recommended. The Food and service was outstanding. Friendly and welcoming atmosphere, by far the tastiest Indian food I have ever tried. Reasonably priced, and also large portion sizes.

The food is fantastic and reasonably priced. If you like Tandoori try the mixed grill. It's huge and the best we have had. The staff are really good and so friendly. We go with family or friends and often take the kids. The kids love it and the staff are really good with them. Would recommend for anybody.

Had a take away from here (just eat) the other week and was thoroughly surprised by how nice the food was ! So much so that I decided to have my birthday meal here on Tuesday with the family, 8 of us in total. The food took a little longer to come than would have liked, but ! It all came out together, piping hot and just as nice as I’d remembered it ! The atmosphere might not be your typical ‘Indian’ restraunt, and if you go in a large group, be patient, think there’s just one guy in the kitchen cooking it all. We all said how it was one of the best Indian meals any of us had had and therefore can highly recommend it to anyone that wants delicious meal ! Highly recommend and I will be going back soon!

Probably the best Indian food I've had in a long time. The service is a bit average and the restaurant was freezing cold.

We arrived and parked at the rear of the restaurant. It was pitch black with no lighting at all. I felt vulnerable to be honest and unsafe. We then went inside regardless and immediately could hear loud and rowdy customers. Don't get me wrong, everyone's entitled to have a good laugh but they seemed proper rough. Won't set foot in here again.

Thought we’d try the Five Rivers after reading the reviews & recommendations. Reasonably decent restaurant / bar. Starter over cooked. Chicken tough to cut. Poor customer service. Table sticky & grubby. Wouldn’t recommend or return.

Excellent food best in the area

It wasn’t busy when we first went. Friends had told us about it so we thought we would check it out. The staff were very attentive and friendly. The food didn’t take long and we couldn’t fault it. Portions are very generous and we enjoyed our visit and the lovely food.

Food OK, had table booked for 7 pm sat at 745 got menus at about 8pm went to the bar to order some drinks didn't have Pepsi max so asked my hubby what he would like while doing this the guy wearing a Nike t. Shirt pulled his tongue out at me which my hubby saw and was not impressed and nor was I. Idid bring this matter to the person in charge and had no apology but to be fair we did receive a bottle of wine for our wait 3rd time there for me and will not be returning in the near future.unfortunatly

I came for the boys 23rd birthday they have disabilities so hard sometimes to find a place that looks passed they ...well what can I say they were amazing food was perfect and they even gave the lads free drinks all night for a birthday treat just want to say Thank you guys for all you did wish you all the best top marks for food simply the best we've had

Delivered on time, food of good quality, onion Bahjis very nice but a couple of them were over cooked.

I have now visited this Punjabi Pub family run restaurant establishment 3 times in total with family and friends and we have never been disappointed.

Had a meal from there and it had metal pieces in it. My partner then had to go to A&e for 6 hours for xrays as she had accidently swollowed some metal before we noticed it. The manager offered to knock 50% off of the bill even though we didnt eat more than a couple of mouth fulls . Tried getting intouch but the manager never returns calls. I have now contacted foods hygene services and Maltby free paper. So in short dirty ,dangerous and avoid at all costs.

Had a home delivey takeaway for first time from Five Rivers tonight for a change from our usual other Maltby based Indian. For fairness to compare we ordered same items as normally ordered. Delivery times - told half an hour before ordering but was around hour and fifteen. Food quality- Decent, but apart from the popadomso, we both agreed bhaji starters, egg fried rice, garlic naan, and lamb saag were not as good. Chicken madras on par. Don't get me wrong not bad just not as good as usua place. Value - nearly 6 pounds dearer for 2 people for same order we have from elsewhere, means combined with other factors above we will be sticking with usual.

The staff were attentive and friendly and there was a great view through the window. Poppadoms and the pickle tray were brought out whilst we were browsing the menu, my wife had chicken tikka to start which were the biggest pieces I've ever seen and my onion Bhaji were delicious. I asked for Lamb vindaloo as it wasn't on the menu, when it came it was full of flavour and just the right heat (not ridiculously hot like some places serve it), it even had potato in it like a vindaloo should. My wife enjoyed her prawn tikka masala too. The garlic naan was lovely and is cooked in a tandoor (unlike most places in Rotherham) so was light and fluffy. I couldn't fault any dish. We live near the town centre in Rotherham and travelled to try this one in Maltby as most of the restaurants locally are pretty poor, so Five Rivers is now our go to Indian, try it, you won't be disappointed.

Well what a shock ! This place is a hidden gem genuinely

The food was OK but the service was shocking, cloth's and general cleaning items on the bar and stools as we entered . Generally had a rundown feel and look. Spraying disinfectant on a table next to us got the smell all over our food. Did not have coffee for the end of the meal, surly staff.

Food arrived 30 mins after ordering. Chicken madras was spicy and full of flavour. Lamb saag was as good . Garlic naan and bombay aloo also very tasty. Better quality than a take away from the Taj Tickhill and reasonably priced.
