Neelagiree Restaurant in Rotherham

Visited today with family. Selected Neelagiree after reading many good reviews, however, I was still completely blown away by the amazing taste, quality of food, and quantity. One bite of the 'houseboat beef fry' and I was transported directly back to the backwaters of Kerala. Bravo to the Chef! Kerala style chicken biriyani was also very flavourful, quantity was more than sufficient, and again, reminded me of authentic Kerala taste. Chicken lollipop and Chicken 65 were more or less similar in taste, yet, they are ready to customise to our liking based on how hot we want the dish to be. The subtle music in the background was very calming (good choice of soft music), service was quick, restaurant manager and staff were very courteous as well. We visited around 8:30pm, and hence, were very lucky to find parking close by, however, there are plenty of paid parking lots closeby, which should be able to support during peak crowd hours. All in all, this was the best Indian Restaurant that I have been to so far in the UK. Will be visiting again, 100%. Thank you for the amazing food experience, @Neelagiree Restaurant!

Came here to celebrate my birthday with my wife, she’s been here before and booked it for me as my first time. I’m a massive fan of Indian food and Neelagiree does not disappoint. Fantastic food and brilliant service. I recommend Chicken 65 and Masala Dosa to get things started, and I had Chettinad Chicken with Pilau Rice and a gorgeous garlic naan, all washed down with an ice cold, crisp few pints of Cobra. South Indian Keralan food at its best! Service was outstanding, thank you as always 👍🏻

Went last night staff friendly. Lovely starter however really disappointed with the main course ordered a king prawn dish and the prawns were the cheep frozen ones. Ordered garlic Nan and definitely did not taste garlic. Won't be going back.

Proper indian taste @ good price

A group of 17 of us came for a work night out. We ordered our meals ahead as the restaurant requested, As you can imagine there was alot of food ordered between the group of us, the staff remained calm and patient throughout our visit. The food was all served fresh, hot and the portion sizes were really generous. All the staff were very welcoming and dispite been a rowdy bunch they didnt stop smiling and joined in a good laugh with us. The vene is super tidy and clean with lovely decor that has a lovely warm feel to it. Food was super tasty and you can even take what you cant eat away with you. Thank you for having us, your staff cannot do enough for your customers and we all enjoyed the visit.

First time I had been. Food fantastic carnt fault it. I'm just sorry that I was in a hurry to leave to get to the Theatre and forget to leave a tip. I will return and make sure the tip is paid. Fantastic staff

Service was very friendly and efficient. Food was very tasty and worth the value. Good portions too. Atmosphere was pleasant. The restaurant is well kept and tidy. The only negative being that it was a bit too cold inside.

Not so pretty outside but amazing inside. Staff can't do enough for you so lively and polite. Food is out of this world. Extremely well presented and enough to fill you. Can't praise enough. Toilets are downstairs but have disabled access toilet. Lovely n clean place. Nice n bright n colourful. They will pack your food for takeaway if you can't eat it all.

One of the best AUTHENTIC Indian food in the UK! The place is an absolute must go. We loved the food and the taste. The wait for the food is a bit long but it is absolutely worth it. The food is so fresh and delicious- it takes us back home immediately!

Perfect place to step in when you crave for that Kerala’s authentic taste. Had been to this place for a couple of times and really enjoyed the food and ambience. The food tastes and smells the same as our traditional Kerala food. Overall ambience is excellent with nice Malayalam songs playing in the background.Last but not the least, great staff with excellent service.

Great atmosphere and service. Tried the chicken biryani, Gobi Manchurian, chicken 65, porotta and beef coconut kothu. It was literally a feast to the taste buds. Highly recommended.

Disappointed after reading reviews as poppadoms were not crispy, korma was missing coconut , fish curry was not as spicy as expected for a medium curry. Rice and nann were good. Overall very expensive for the standard we got .

The ambience is quite nice and it bestows a palatial vibe as you enter the restaurant. Cultural icons like the Guruvayoor elephant figurine, Kathakalli portrait hints about Keralan cuisine. The menu looks comprehensive but compared to an average Indian Udupi restaurant, it's like a foot note. That's the case with most Indian restaurants in the UK. The food itself is fine for the price, the textures were on point. However, what it lacked was authenticity. The potato filling in the Masala Dosa was a mish mash of all veggies, despite the flavourful tempering. The Chinese fried rice lacked flavour and requires some exposure to the Indo Chinese methods in general. Overall, a decent experience but don't let the grand ambience raise your expectations through the tall roof. Truly can't fault the price either.

Ambience, service is good, Food taste is not upto the level I expected. Order chicken lollipop, Chicken Manchuria, Butter chicken, Chilli chicken Butter Naan, Hyderabadi Mutton Biryani and Hyderabadi Chiken biryani Biryani is not upto the level which I was expected. Even quantity received is also very less. Curries are sweet rather than spicy.

Worst experience ever. Food was okay. But their service was horrible. I bought takeaway from there 2 times in a row and was much impressed with their Lamb biriyani., so after few days i invited my friend's family for dinner. And from the moment we sat down there the lady who introduced as a manager or someone was giving us an attitude. We ordered 3 biriyanis which i suggested them and one kappa and fish curry combo. When the lady served us the food i noticed that there was NO FISH in the FISH CURRY. and i asked her straight away about that and she told us fish is in the bottom.. and then we ordered 2 🍵 and started eating. Even aftr eating halfway i couldn't find any slice of fish in it. And when i call the lady and asked about it, she accused us for eating the fish and lie about it. She told us that 3 of her chefs confirms that there was 3 pieces of fish in the curry. My friends burst into laugh when they heard it took each of her 3 chefs to put a piece of fish in the same curry'. Then she told us that she is going to ask the chefs again., and aftr 10-15 minuts she bought us some fish curry with FISH in it. I declined it because we felt ashamed infront of other native customers. Why should we argue over a piece of fish bro..? Its not about a missing piece of fish, its her bad Customer service that i cant accept. I cant understand her logic. We are never going back there in life.

Visiting Neelagiree for Lunch this afternoon following a takeaway we had a couple of weeks ago. Really enjoyed it and very helpful staff. First time trying a Masala Dosa - excellent! Will be back again.

We've had takeaways delivered from here before, always been lovely. This is the first time we've been to the restaurant. Absolutely lovely meals. The staff are so pleasant too. Would highly recommend to eat here for the best Indian food I've ever had. Thank you Neelagiree.

It's the first time that I visited Neelagiree today. There are many Indian restaurants here in Sheffield, but as an Indian, I want the real flavor, aroma, and taste of my Indian food if I'm having it from outside. Neelagiree is the one here in Sheffield that I found the best in all. I was able to experience the real taste of my favorite Indian food. It has a very good option for South Indian as well as North Indian cuisines, provides a thali (combo) option for Sunday lunch, and has a special Kerala menu that's a must-try. It's a worth visit to your tummy as well for your pockets with the best quality of choice. Serves both Veg and Non-Veg and all dishes are simply mouthwatering delicious Indian dishes. It was a happy chance that my friend found this place, close to Sheffield, for Onam sadhya. I was craving a satisfying Kerala sadhya and Neelagiree delivered for a good price. The staff was friendly and helpful. My friend (who is having sadhya for the first time) fell in love with the meal. And I could happily tell her that this was a very good sadhya (I tend to become judgemental when it comes to Indian food in Uk 😝).

I must say it is the best indian kerala food i have ever had after coming to UK. The food is at best and the tatse spice and flavour reminded my hometown. The staff is very kind and generous. The manager named Ajith is too lovely. His way of treating customers and the staff is so pleasant that anyone would love to go ter on and on. The girl who served us food was just awesome. Her smile, the way she treats customers is so welcoming. Food taste is just as the way you want and it is exactly pakka kerala cuisine. I cant name one or two best foods. A must visit place if you are nearby Sheffield.. Dosa was excellent with sambar and tomato chutney..Garlic Naan and Chettinad chicken were fabulous..They had a separate menu for Kerala dishes..Avail the nearby parking spaces for free during the weekend..Would be good if they start providing breakfast and lunch too..

I personally felt an Indian restaurant. The starters we ordered were serviced hot and delicious . Hyderabadi chicken biryani is something to taste at this restaurant, good spicy. Finally Thanks Ajit at the restaurant manager was good to guide. Maria at the service does a great job. Good atmosphere with really good Indian food. Would recommend and sure to visit again.

Beautiful food, well cooked and presented. Really good choice of options. Well decorated and maintained interior, and prices, for the actual menu items, are pretty average. Unfortunately, there were issues on my visit. I only went in on a Sunday because of their huge sign outside telling of their Sunday Buffet for £12.99 each. We got the family together so we could go down and try a variety of different foods in a new (to us) restaurant. When we got inside, we were seated and given menus. We said we wanted the buffet and they said "We don't do a buffet", so this seems to be a bit of a bait and switch. By this time, we were in, hungry and sat so felt we had no option but to order from the menu. After ordering from a list of items for a Sunday lunch menu (and being told we could order from anywhere on the menu by a friendly staff member), a couple of our items were delivered to the table. After 5 minutes, with no sign of the rest of our food, I finally managed to find one of the two staff who said those items were starters (this wasn't mentioned in the lunch menu list), and I should have said if I didn't want them as starters. There was no acceptance when I explained that there was no reference to them being starter items, I was just told I was in the wrong, I should have said I didn't want starters, and they could bring the rest of the food out if we wished. I agreed and almost 10 minutes later, with the "starters" almost cold, the rest of the food came out. This was an hour after we arrived, and we put that down to the limited number of staff. That food was delicious, the portion sizes were good, and the staff apart from that incident were very friendly. Come the bill however, the advertised £12.99 per head was well exceeded - as far as the staff was concerned the sign on their building (which has been there a while) might as well not exist. I was disappointed by the bait and switch marketing, frustrated by the response to an issue experienced, and despite the quality of the food, it's not enough to draw me back.

I have really enjoyed spending the afternoon at the Neelagiree Restaurant in Rotherham. The food was exquisite, delicious And was presented in a wonderful way. In specific the Beef fry was undoubtedly one of the best I've ever had. I will surely be returning soon for more mouth watering delicacies. I would also love to recommend this place to anyone who desires some authentic Indian cuisine.

Food is always good and service is always bad, have to wait hours for food even if the place is empty and quite few times messed up my order and drinks too even when its not busy, Never apologize for mistakes and never try to compensate as well.. Its only the food brings us back and its always the service makes us feel not to come back again...

Authentic south indian dishes are available. The best part is the rate.Unlike other indian cuisines,the price is really affordable without any compromises in the taste. Try the whole tandoori,its worth every penny. Nb : Don't forget to tell the serving team to increase the spice level if you are an Indian guy.

Food was good but the service was really worst we went around half pass eight and the restaurant was nearly empty but they took more than 1 and half hour to serve food.
