Incredible restaurant: delicious food, great value and gracious staff. They make you feel at home!

We moved from Stotfold to Cornwall 6 years ago. My parents came down to visit this week and bought us an India Lodge take away. Still amazing quality food, by far the best curry we have had in 6 years. We miss the India Lodge and the staff, especially Parvez. Thank you, we will be back for meal when we are next in the area.

We are very lucky to have India Lodge in Stotfold. Excellent quality and food. We've visited local restaurants in the neighbouring towns only to realise our local India Lodge is the best, by far.

The food here was fresh and of excellent quality, we were a party of 14, and the service was a bit slow. The restaurant was full, which shows how lovely the food is .

We had a great meal in this restaurant. The parking outside was good. There was a nice atmosphere on the Friday night we visited. The staff were pleasant and very helpful. The food was delicious. We will definitely return!

The food is fantastic, the service is impeccable, and the atmosphere is quite, calm, and overall really nice. The delivery service is fantastic too, which adds to how great this restaurant is!

Our local curry house. Having tried many in the local area, luckily for us this is the one that we will always return too. Since moving in 2020 we have been loyal customers since. Never a bad meal.

We went to this restaurant on Wednesday evening with a group of friends we loosely refer to as the 'Curry Club '. We meet once a month ish and go to a different restaurant. This month was India Lodge in Stotfold. The service was very good indeed, the man who took our order knew about the menu and he accommodated one of our people with a special request. The food was delicious and well prepared, presented & cooked. The staff were very patient with our friend who has a disability and showed nothing but compassion for him. A firm favourite with the Boyz from our little club. ❤️

We regularly order from here and can honestly say we can’t fault the curries we have had, but unfortunately tonight when we opened the bag of the poppadums to see a dead fly there was a complete and utter disgrace, having called the restaurant and discussed this they did not seem to be bothered as the poppadums are complimentary such a shame as we use this very very regularly

Great food with really good service and atmosphere. Been dining here on quite a few occasions and it never disappoints. Highly recommend.

Restaurant serves a new lager. Very smooth. On the food side, I know each chef has his own methods and the same dish can be different at different restaurants. The chicken madras I had here was totally different from what I'm used to. Not sure i like the difference. Curry sauce was like a soup almost as if it had been blended, the same as my friends vindaloo.

1 meal and 1 beer 24 pound and the food wasn't all that it was ok I had a chicken chilli massala plain nan and pilau rice and a bottle of cobra which was 6.50 !!! I won't be going bk there are better restaurants out there and cheaper with better food

We had a take away whilst visiting friends and really enjoyed the food. The restaurant was packed and looked very pleasant

Was overcharged and the man took the bill from out my hands after we had paid. I’ve just come home and added it up. We had leftover food which they didn’t put in our takeaway box. And the service was bad. We had to keep calling them over and ask for things multiple times. Wont be returning as feel like it’s dishonest.

Always friendly with great food

Just called in Tuesday night while working away with my 18 year old son. We were seated straight away by the very friendly staff. We ordered Tikka Korma and a lamb Tawa which took about 15mins while we had a drink. Meals presented really beautifully and was delicious. This place is a little gem. Thank you India Lodge.

So to start off, the food here is very nice however the service left a lot to be desired. After booking a table, we were left for around 5 minutes just waiting to sit down. After we were shown to the table, we waited half an hour before anyone came over to even take our drinks order. The waiters were very confused as after we requested to make our order, several different waiters came over asking the same thing and not knowing what we had ordered. The food came relatively quickly and as said was very nice. After asking for the bill, we were given a hand written illegible bill which was completely wrong and was over 50% more than our order. After bringing this to the waiters attention, they laughed and joked saying they were just being greedy this evening. They then corrected the bill and after we paid, it seemed they did not want to engage with us by even thanking us for us custom. Overall, the service was very poor and because of this, we won’t be returning.

I've been a customer on and off for 10 years. Last night, I went through the process of placing an order over the phone, to be told they don't take cards (the place has always favoured cash, but I didn't realise it had stopped cards entirely). I asked to cancel, as I didn't have the cash. The team then tried to deliver the food I asked to cancel and I ended up being (effectively) called a liar and barred by the manager, who said it was my fault (he did say that) and insisted we'd discussed amount and delivery time, which at best was a one-way conversation as I'd ended the call by that point. This has been terrible customer service and I expect people to admit when they've made a mistake. Everyone does, I understand that. This was a classic case of miscommunication. My issue is how that was dealt with. I'd ordered food from elsewhere; why would I have done that if I expected India Lodge to fulfil the order? I guess I won't be ordering again as that hand has been forced by the manager. Very disappointed.

Really lovely dinner - we ordered a few different dishes and everything was spot on, perfect flavour and spice. Would 100% recommend and order again.

Fabulosa. Best curry house we've found so far. On first name terms with the Boss and the Manager, Malik and Parvez. Super friendly and super efficient team. Anything on their menu can be adapted to your taste buds. They work so hard to bring you the best experience. Take their advice - their experts and have amazing knowledge

The staff are so friendly and the food is always amazing! Don’t order in Just Eat, support small businesses like the Lodge. So many options including all the classics but the chef recommendations are great too 👍🏻

Wow a great find by myself 😇 Food was great service was great beer was great friendly service and prompt food came out hot and tasted fresh and flavoursome really nice. Well worth a visit.

I was looking forward to my meal which I had delivered - a treat for me during difficult times. I’m so disappointed though. Starter was extremely oily and cold. My curry smelled and tasted like the spices in the sauce had been burnt. There was a bitter flavour I’ve never experienced from having similar dishes from other restaurants. The man who delivered just asked for the money while glaring at me. Won’t be going back again as it was expensive, poor customer service and it just tasted all wrong. Most upsetting was that I wasted my hard earned money.

Above average quality and taste for your high street curry house. If this were in my area in London, it would be my new local. The paneer was delicious and the poppadum chutney tray was absolutely sensational. I also enjoyed the beer on tap, which is reasonably priced. My only advice to staff would be to not pressure you to order so quickly, and don't be too keen to clear things away. I'm sure there is an old Indian saying from the Karma Sutra about the pleasure of taking your time whilst eating.

Very nice and detailed menu and my choice was made a little hotter on request and was beautifully souced and cooked. Staff were great and attentive.

Their vegetarian dishes are out of this world. It was probably the most delicious vegetable korma I have ever had.

After moving to Stotfold last year we thought we'd try out the local Indian. The food was great and the food arrived quickly. The only thing we found to be annoying was that the waiter was trying to get us to order more food, also insisted that we paid by cash, even though we informed him that we didn't have any on us. The price wasn't cheap, but saying that Indian food never is?

A really excellent meal. From the salmon starters to the shashlik duck main, all the food was great. The staff are super attentive and very friendly. Highly recommended.

A big disappointment if you know good food

2nd time visiting. Disappointed. The old man who works there thinks he's prince Charles the way he swans about the place. Service was terrible and the staff were rude. They can't handle larger table sizes they just lose all control over what's going on. Toilet facilities are poor and trust me you're going to need them if you eat here 😅. Starters were cold. The only decent thing on the menu is the lamb talwa. Rowdy people in there sometimes. It should be called Bangladesh Lodge as I don't think the people who run it are authentic Indians. Parking is not great.

Unfortunately a main dish was missed off the order and one of the other dishes duplicated.... Considering I wanted a Chicken Tikka Moricha , not a bland Chicken tikka massala I was very unhappy. Also to rub salt in the wounds when we called we actually had questioned the amount but actually realised we were wrong and made sure we paid EXTRA than quoted as we're honest people. To then call and be told they're too busy to deliver nd we had to collect it, was not on, as there weee 3 other people eating ( why make everyones meal cold) Also the meal was not particularly hot, considering ot was only being delivered within Stotfold. Such a shame as the people there are lovely.

A lovely place, all the staff are lovely and you felt looked after, the food is beautiful and came out in good time.you don't feel rushed either, just left to go at your own pace,which I like. Reasonably priced too. Definitely reccomend to everyone.

Fantastic food at a fair and reasonable price. My partner had a tikka masala and I had the chicken bakara which I had never had before and it would be something I would definitely recommend. Wasn't overly spicy but provided the perfect level of heat. Great selection of sauces for the poppadoms and the sides of Keema naan and sag panir really made a great meal. Would highly recommend

My takeaway arrived in good time, and thats were it ends. Bottom of the bag was swimming in oil, the prawnes were over cooked, the red peppers were like mush, shant bother again, will try the clifton takeaway next time.

moved to the area about 3 years ago and I wasn't sure about a new Indian restaurant as I can never find one as good as my old local. I had a takeaway for my first experience. I was impressed but not Wow'd. this however came when I first dined in. from the second you open the door, you are met with a friendly team who can not do enough for you. service is second to none. fantastic service and great humour. food takes an ideal amount of time between courses. portions are plentiful and the menu is vast so caters for all. the food is so flavoursome and they even make you a special is you want it hotter. now I visit every time I have colleagues or visitors down to my work. India Lodge are a true credit to themselves and the local community. I travel a lot for work and have experienced a fair few Indian restaurants around the country and Europe and can safely say, I don't think I have found one yet as good as India Lodge. fantastic as always for the Alphr team.

The cuisine and service were first class! Although living in Stevenage for many years, last Thursday was our first visit. This is the best since the old Kwality's on Tottenham Court Road in the late 60's! Colin WG

We where the only ones in there they struggled to bring all our food out, forgot dishes food was cold tried to warm up my dish with a candle no joke ! They forgot a starter and and then took it from someone else’s shame really been there before and it was good needs improvement !

Have visited many times and always excellent food and service all the waiters vey attentive a wet wipe is provided at the end of the meal to clean your hands.

Came here for a pre-christmas meet with a selection of friends. We were about 10 adults, 1 toddler and 2 under 6months. The waiters were very accommodating for our group. They even made my wife a special little meal, as she was unable to eat the offerings that were available in that days buffet. The staff interacted with our children so that we could have our food in a bit of peace and quiet too! Overall, the food, staff and setting made it a lovely way to finish off our year.

Having lived in Stotfold for most of my life I have been to India Lodge many time. Recently I went on New Year’s Eve with my boyfriend and it was none other than delicious. Firstly staff are always friendly and accommodating and it makes a real difference. Food is quick, filling and very delicious. Portions are generous and price is reasonable. Great to sit in or to take away! Lovely place.

Ordered a take away last week from here, the food was all very nice indeed, it was wrapped up nicely too and still hot when I got home. The Staff are very friendly, it's reasonably priced - will definitely be returning.

Had a really disappointing curry from this restaurant last night, the biryani did not taste fresh and the jal frezi sauce tasted bad, won't be ordering again. The staff and delivery driver were however very courteous,as a chef myself I would have to say the fault goes to the kitchen

After waiting 2 hours for starters 2 were returned because they were cold, then returned main meal because it was not cooked. Apparently other tables had similar problems on this occasion. Perhaps the popularity is its downfall. They just could not cope with the numbers and running the take always on this occasion. More disappointing was the lack of apology so this may not be a one off?

Visited on a Friday evening, didn't book but staff fitted us in, treated as if regulars and delivered first class food

We went to the India lodge for my Gran's birthday last night and could not fault it. The service was great, friendly and helpful staff. Food was lovely; we also got some complementarity vegetables with our mains and when it was time to bring out the birthday cake the staff joined in on the sing-song, making my Gran's birthday special. On leaving the staff thanked us for coming and wished us a good night. We've been coming to the India lodge for years now and visit only once or twice a year so it was a pleasure to come back! Great customer service and food is lovely

Average food and awkward and rude service. When ordering he tried to tell us we hadn’t ordered enough rice and naan which was uncomfortable as he thought he was right and then when a wrong side dish was brought out it was even worse. No apology, just tension as he clearly thought it my fault he had misheard. I told him to leave what was brought incorrectly just to end the unpleasant encounter.

Had a lovely meal here for a birthday celebration. Staff were were helpful and accommodating when i asked if i could bring a birthday cake. Food was very good and very tasty.

Me and my husbands boyfriend went there on a Saturday evening. We were immediately confronted by some sort of salesman asking if we wanted to buy some Gillette razor blades and some meat..we declined.

Visited the place after seeing all the positive reviews here. The food was strictly ok. Chicken rather powdery. The rotis huge & thick. Service nothing to write home about. They charged us extra for the popadums and when questioned said that the additional cost was towards chutney 🤣. They did not charge us for the tap water.

Must try Lamb Jalzala, amazing.

Ordered a biryani. The rice was so spicy hot it ruined the taste of the rest of it. Thought biryani was a mild dish!! The prawn puri was certainly not the best I've eaten either.However staff polite, it was ready when they said it would be. We all get an off day so will try again before I try somewhere else

I have been here a few times over the last few years and it never disappoints a fantastic curry in a great atmosphere a real gem in an out of town location my advice is they it you will be surprised

Came here with my friend last night (Wednesday 27th) it was pretty quiet with only a few tables in. I've never eaten here before, but heard such good things! The restaurant is a lot bigger than what it looks. We had 1 main and 1 rice each, shared a naan and had a drink each and the bill was just over £14 each! Really good value for what we had and we definitely left full. Curry's were creamy and rich. Would definitely come again! - They have a special offer on Tuesdays where you get a starter, main, side, and rice for £13 (I think!) Worth a try!

Visited with family members and impressed with menu. Not impressed with attempt of staff to be funny by saying that part of the order would be delayed by an hour as it was a chefs special. The food itself was very good even though the portions are small, more substance less sauce. The main problem is the sweet, all are served from the freezer, Unable to get a spoon in them far to cold in the mouth to enjoy. Either have to ask customers with the mains order what they want for sweet or get a selection out and throw away whats not used. Plenty of profit margin. Staff didn't really want criticism when he asked if meal was OK. Time will tell but I doubt if they will make improvement

I've been eating here since I was a kid and it's always been incredible food and amazing funny and caring staff. The best Indian I've ever eaten and the best restaurant I've been to. Love all the specials on offer and the whole menu. Great atmosphere, would definitely recommend to anyone whether it's a romantic night out or a family meal. Love it

Excellent food. So tasty, always served I good time. Food is beautifully presented and guests made to feel so welcome. Very attentive waiters in this family restaurant. Reasonable prices and they have special deals on Tuesdays. Sunday is a buffet lunch - so you can try a bit of a few different dishes. You won’t be disappointed if you’ve never been before.

Ordered 30 minutes prior to collection of a take away, wasn't ready as promised, had to wait another 30 minutes, when my order came it was swimming in oil and almost inedible, hardly any one in restaurant, couldn't quite figure out why the wait, and poor quality of food. Will give a miss in future.
