Worst service, indiscipline staff

Probably the best curry I’ve ever had. I know some may say it’s boring, but I chose the butter chicken - and wow, look at the colour!!! It was unbelievable. Best butter chicken I have ever had. My partner had the chicken bhuna and said it was brilliant too. Staff are always lovely, food was brilliant and fast service. Good prices too!!

We were very late when we arrived at the restaurant and asked if it was possible to arrange a table, the staff had no qualms about serving us, with a warm attitude. The food was to die for and my wife and I had to commend the chef for his cooking , as we consider this is the best Indian food we had ever experienced. The starter through to the main course was an absolute culinary experience. Truly Astounding !!! Guys your service and our experience was second to none, and thank you for your total professionalism - you made our night!! Next time we come to Kings Lynn we will definitely be coming to see you and booking a table, hopefully earlier this time !!!!

The best indian restaurant in kings lynn, the food was awesome as usual, full of great taste and flavour, as well as the fantastic service from the staff,very friendly and effecient,We have been dining at this restaurant over the last 30 years, and its quite simply the best quality indian in town.

Deliciously food and great service from Habib and his colleagues . I came here every night when I was in King's Lynn. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Absolutely disgusting, the Currys is sweeter than the deserts, shocking, place should be shut down with a lack of communication and poor quality food, no real pics of currys. Stay away

The family and I have ordered from here a few times . First Indian takaway I have tried and I love the chicken and mushroom biriyani, its very filling, big portion and delicious. My partner and mum love the korma and order it every time. Delivery is usually quite good, never been later than estimated time of arrival. The chips are also very nice. The only issue we have had is the naan bread either comes soggy or burnt in delivery but its not a big issue. I appreciate that for most of the deliveries they have kept the hot food seperate from the cold drinks which is often an issue I have with other restaurants. Would recommend :)

We were seated by bar. Immediately the waiter started spraying air freshener around the bar area which was really unpleasant. We tried to have a conversation about wine but he was very difficult and contentious about the choices, which they do not really have. Our meal arrived which was fine but not brilliant. Loud conversations between 3 staff members in bar area overshadowed our own conversation. We found the main waiter not very helpful or friendly. Wouldn't go again.

Ordered a takeaway at 6:33 pm.. waited until 8:07 pm, thought it was odd nothing had turned up, phoned up to see where the order was...and was told it had gone to a different address and we had to Re-order. Even though we ordered through just eats!! The address is clearly stated... just had abuse hurled at us on the phone, being a regular customer for years before and having numerous deliveries to this exact address! Will no longer order from here. Feel cheated.

Absolutely horrified to have our food delivered with no rice last night, not even helpful about sending rice out of if I wanted to wait 2 hours or cook my own. I WILL NOT BE HAVING YOU AGAIN.

Ordered food to be delivered after waiting 3 hrs I rang the shop. Manager answered with no care at all! Absolute joke!! DO NOT ORDER OR VISIT THIS PLACE ABSOLUTE RUBBISH!

21/2 hours late no communication from restaurant very disappointing

I've used the India Gate for over 20 years for takeaways and dining in and found the food good, mostly. What is terrible is their delivery times. We've had a number of late deliveries over the last year or so, but we've been reasonable about it. Today I placed an order online at 6.15pm for a 7.30pm delivery. This was accepted by the restaurant and the delivery time agreed for 7.30pm. At 8.10pm I clicked on the delivery not arrived link on the app and got a response the food would be delivered by 8.50pm. This is unacceptable. The food was actually delivered at 8.35pm, over an hour late considering we ordered in good time. The food was just about cold, the bags were a sloppy mess as all the oil had separated out and leaked out of the containers. To add insult to injury, the restaurant did not supply the popadam we ordered and paid for either. So, we had to mop up all the oil and put the food in the oven for 10 mins. Kind of ruined our evening. I then found out that our guests had recently telephoned the restaurant to see if there was a table for 4 available. The call taker abruptly said 'no chance' the put the phone down on them. How rude is that? They decided never to use this restaurant again. This place has gone downhill. I will not be using them again.

Ordered at 6pm for delivery at 7:20pm. From 7:25pm the app showed as our food being delivered but we hadn't received it. Left it until 7:45pm and decided to give The India Gate a call, just to check really, incase it had been delivered to wrong address. The guy on the phone initially queried if we'd actually ordered through Just Eat and then said "it's with the driver" and abruptly hung up! We decided we'd give it until 8:15pm and then call back if our order hadn't turned up by then. It arrived at 8pm, so 40 minutes after estimated time. The driver immediately apologised for being later when we opened the door. We didn't overly mind it being 40 minutes late, we weren't going anywhere. But when we dished up (which was upon receiving) none of it was hot and the chips were hard and chewy - just awful! Naan breads are very small for price compared to other Indian restaurants we use and £9 for 4 onion bhaji is way too much - we expected double for that price, not sure how that is justified 😫 Flavours were nice but we were just really disappointed that it was luke warm at best. Can only assume that the app was right and our order had indeed been with the driver since 7:10pm. Probably won't order again which I don't like to say, but when you're paying nearly £70 for a meal, you want it to be hot!

Tandoori chicken didn't have much taste, chicken balti was ok.

Food was vile chips was rock hard they obviously were cooked day before and just sat there.

Just ordered delivery came quickly but the chips had been cooked and sat there that long they was rock solid with no potato left inside them. Literally worst chips I’ve ever seen ! Chicken curry tasteless. Such a shame as Indian food usually is very flavourful. Won’t be ordering from here again !

Really disappointed, usually India Gate has great food. But this time, some of it was burnt and the nan bread was seriously undercooked… it was still dough.

The food was lovely when it did arrive 50 mins late, maybe not my best order, when ring the guy on the phone laughed at me and said he would give something on the house but nothing extra was given, 50 mins is far to late for a delivery.

Chicken tikka Bhuna was tasteless

Driver was a tad late but understandable as my house is quite hard to find. Was very pleased with the food, incredible quality and it tasted great. The delivery driver was also very friendly and overall I would say it is 5 stars, I would order from them again.

Really late and the food was cold. The delivery status after I called them changed to delivered as it said it been with courier for 40mins! It wasn’t delivered!! Food was cold!

The food was lovely, however, we didn't receive the full order, and had to contact them for the rest. The delivery driver did not read the instructions to come to the side entrance, as our front door doesn't open.

Awful We have been going here for a long while and it always seems go be 50/50 lately. But last night was horrendous. Starters were wrong... and when they came out they were cold (45 minutes of waiting since ordering) They forgot the side salad on one too. Then they didn't clear our dishes away... started to then got distracted by the phone The loud phone for delivery orders kept going and they seemed to care more about that to be honest. Never asked us how the starter was either Then we complained and they offered discount. Waited a while for mains... but in between they were arguing in the kitchen very loudly again... quite nasty it seemed. They even locked the kitchen door ! Then the mains come out and we have every spice range... from dupiaza (which they brought out bhuna) to jalfrezi. And everything tasted the same. Even the waiter couldn't see what it was ! The only thing nice about it was the naan Ended the evening arguing as they decided to only do 10% off. And it's not cheap there !!! We will not be returning for sure. Shame.

Takeaway was excellent, chicken bhuna was cooked perfectly, lovely succulent chicken in a very tasty thick sauce. I can highly recommend!

It won’t let me set it to 50 minutes late. Restaurant was very rude. Called twice as we were told to call back after 10 minutes - driver was late by 30 minutes by then. We were then told another 20 minutes then he hung up on us. Shocking customer service - will not be ordering from here again!

Lovely food and delivered well early

It was a Saturday night walk in without a booking. My wife and I were lucky to get a table and were seated quickly. The the service and food were very good. Would recommend.

We ordered two korma dishes and they were not that on tasting they didn't taste like a korma at all, so my children wouldn't eat it. The plain nan bread was the smallest I have even since in ally life. Don't think we will be ordering from here again.

But driver called me saying food outside so 8 went to see nope no one in site nor any food I asked out front or back and he kept sending me back and forward speaking very rudly, my partner took over and turned out he was no where close, then took of with our food no refund and no food we was angry to say the least I don't want no excuse like was given to my partner but just letting people know how rude and disgusting the treatment we got was (December)

Plenty to eat and tasty. Arrived bang on time.

Walking past, this was one of the best smelling indian restaurants outside India we have ever come across, couldn't wait to try the food. We had a great meal here, thought the food was excellent, very tasty and plenty of it. Staff were very polite and friendly. We went for the banquet deal which was very good value.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS !!!!! If i can save just 1 person from experiencing what I have then this review is worth it. DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE UNLESS SICKNESS AND DIARRHOEA IS HIGH ON YOUR LIST OF NEEDS. Ordered from here dec 2022 and had severe sickness and diarrhoea but didn't link the two. Ordered again Feb 2023 and the same issue and not doubt the cause. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. This place is should be dismissed at any level for eat in or take away.

Me and my Daughter dropped in yesterday 11.2.23 at 5.30pm and the place was empty apart from one couple. I asked if we could have a table for 2 but we hadn't booked, the man replied we are fully booked, so I said we will only be an hour but he wasn't interested. I have been going here for years, but that will be the last time I set foot in the place.

Found this purely by chance when visiting Kings Lynn. Menu is comprehensive, and we choose something simple. The poppadums were fresh and hot, the main courses , simple, tasty and could never be described as too small. The special byriani was excellent. Service was good. I would certainly eat here again if in the area.

Arrived at 7 pm last night . Only1 other couple in there was seated straight away . With a heater blower pointing at us . Was cold in there . We had to go and ask young male waiter on (his phone ) if we could have some drinks as we was waiting 15 minutes . Then he put menus on table and said do u know what u want I said give us chance to look. Ordered onion bargies for 2 . Came with no mint sauce . So he had forgot it . 3 times asked for table water. When he brough water wss 2 botyke and 2 full glasses . As like it was u want water have loads .Still on his phone Main meal came was nice .but my friends said his wasn't very hot . When we finished he took plates brought the bill. Wasn't asked if we wanted deserts or coffee .never going back again. .Monday 30th January
