We ordered a takeaway for delivery. There was a missing portion of rice. On calling to explain that they had missed something, the person on the phone acted like an absolute idiot. Don't know anything? Haven't a clue?? Blah blah blah Ridiculously expensive for poor poor food. Never ever again. To loose a customer for the sake of a portion of rice. Well done. Idiots!!!¡!¡!

Say in for a meal on a very rainy Wednesday night. We were surprised how quickly it got busy with it being a week night and by the time we left, the restaurant was full. Food was all really good, very tasty and generous portion sizes. BYOB so no alcohol served but this wasn’t an issue for us. Slightly more expensive than we had expected but not too bad these days really. The waitress serving us was very attentive and helpful, especially as she was the only waitress working on a very busy evening.

We ordered via Foodhub for delivery. The menu choices were great with several less common options. We used the menu for 2 which had lots of choice and at £24 is great value. The food was good quality and we enjoyed all of it. Will definitely use again

Our visit to India Gate restaurant in Newton Stewart left us feeling somewhat disappointed. While the food itself was enjoyable, we couldn’t help but notice the stark difference in prices between the restaurant menu and the takeaway menu. It was disheartening to see that dining in cost more than twice as much as opting for takeaway. Furthermore, the wait times were longer than expected, and the staff appeared visibly stressed. It was evident that they were working tirelessly, and we couldn’t help but feel sorry for them, especially considering the outdated order system they had to contend with. Despite the tasty food, the overall experience fell short of our expectations. The combination of high prices, long wait times, and stressed staff left us feeling less than satisfied. We would rate India Gate restaurant 2.5 stars out of 5. While the food was decent, the overall dining experience left much to be desired.

The food, was lovely, the service was prompt & friendly, however the prices were astronomical. Chicken Chilli Masala £14.95 PLUS £3.50 for rice, £3.25 for a small glass of cordial!!! Checked with my local in Blackpool, & it was £8.75 for the curry plus £2 for rice.... Good food, but not that good, the price spoiled the experience for us.

Terrible service when booking a delivery online, delivery option on website but they would not deliver, took the money and hung up the phone whenever a refund was asked for. Do not waste your money, they would not believe we asked for delivery and kept saying we asked for collection.

Food is lovely but check your order before you leave the premises. Both times I've ordered takeaway meals there has been items missing. When I called to tell the restaurant I wasn't offered a refund or the items replaced because I couldn't go back to the restaurant to collect. A woman who received her meal before me stood and went through her whole order and had a good few items missing from her order. That tells me they regularly miss out items if customers empty their orders before leaving the premises.

Good takeaway, slipped up by forgetting to deliver the rice but sent a taxi with it after a short wait. They could have added some pakora or even poppadoms or something to make up for the error, but didn’t. Food itself was pretty good through, lamb and chicken was good quality meat. Portions generous as well. We would definitely use them again if in the area. Other takeaway reviews locally are not great but I recommend India Gate.

Me and my boyfriend went to the India Gate with 2 friends. All 4 of us ordered 4 different dishes and we were all delighted with them. We started with poppadoms and pickles. The poppadoms were crisp and warm and completely grease free…perfect poppadoms. I chose the chicken tikka tandoori and it was delicious. Sizzling away as it was bought to the table from the kitchen. Generous sized, juicy, succulent chunks of chicken with a tasty sauce and a very, very generous portion of rice. The service was efficient and friendly, we were not rushed at all. We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening and would definitely return.

Oh my goodness this place is wonderful! Such tasty food and the chicken tikka is authentic , tender and extremely tasty. Popadoms and naan breads a total triumph too. Really friendly and kind young waitress. Absolute credit to the area.

Having heard that the restaurant was taken over sometime last year, I went to try it out and it was absolutely lovely. Food hot and plentiful, and so tasty. The staff were friendly, too. Restaurant could be doing with upgrading, but won’t put me off going back! Looking forward to our next visit.

The worst Indian takeaway we have ever had , ended up in the bin £53.00 later , rate it at a 1 out of 10 , same meal anywhere it would be £36 ish would not recommend it . If it wasn't for the wife I would have back and give them a mouthful.

Went for dinner on a Saturday In January, place seemed disorganised and short staffed lots of uncleared tables which resulted in a wait to get seated Food was decent nothing special typical Indian offering , tasty enough but not anything out of the ordinary. What stood our was 2 things, the impersonal service that had a production line feeling to it and tired décor and furnishings - in particular a filthy carpet! As soon as our starter was finished and we placed our cutlery down within 10 seconds the plates where whisked away and within 15 seconds our main course arrived, hardly had time to gather ourselves. In addition this place was refurbished 15+ years ago, as a local I recall it, and its hasn't been touched since, the carpet is filthy- very off putting when you're eating there - overdue for a refresh and a refit!

Great find in Castle Douglas. It's always a lucky dip eating out when you don't know the area very well. The Jewel certainly didn't disappoint. All the guys paid great attention to us, and we wanted for nothing. Rafi was the star 🌟
