Imperial Garden in Cherwell

We had a very disappointing meal on Saturday night. It took over an hour to get our food and the delivery charge was £7.00 which really pushed up the cost of our meal. I appreciate it was a Saturday and would have been very busy, but it was early evening. As soon as we received our order and took the lids off the foil trays our hearts sank. The food looked overcooked, beige and greasy. We don’t have a Chinese takeaway very often, it’s usually a real treat, so we were looking forward to this, sadly we were all disappointed. The king prawn balls had obviously been cooked twice and were overcooked in burnt thick batter with very little prawn. The crispy seaweed tasted very strange and too much sugar on it. It tasted to both of us like their oil needed changing. I love tofu, but the black bean sauce was too overpowering and thick. The sir fry mixed vegetables in Szechaun sauce tasted just like overcooked vegetables in gravy. Even the prawn crackers were not nice, too thick and not fresh tasting. My husband said his crispy chilli beef was nice, but the egg fried rice was overcooked and beige. It just wasn’t a nice meal. I called them up because I didn’t want to leave disparaging feedback without speaking to them first, but to be honest I couldn’t get a word in edgeways. The manager just constantly talked at me, so much so I said I was going to have to put the phone down. They did offer us free king prawn balls on our next visit, but we decided that we won’t be using them again.

Food is great used this place every time i order Chinese never had a problem Food deliverd hot and fast..

i went here for a succulent Chinese meal and left a changed person i became a born again christian and prayed to the spring rolls

fish was so alive and fun. the young china boys treated me like a king very good food but do not come i got treated very well all most too well it was weird i felt turned on . (ps the fish is dead.)

Chicken curry was swimming in oil and the rice was all stuck together. Worst chinese carry out in a long time. Won't be returning.

First time ordering here, ordered in person then went to get money out (only except cash in person apparently) food took little longer than that so overall waiting time was great. The portion sizes are a nice size and everything was delicious. Only slight complaint was I swore I ordered banana fritters but when called back she didn't have it on her list, maybe it was me tbh. Overall will be returning!

Food was good but for the second time ordering, the delivery took well over 1 hour. 1hr 45 mins tonight. Ordered online- it confirms the order but no indication of how long the order would take. Convinced the food wasn’t cooked until I called to chase as it was still 40 mins after I called before food arrived! (After being told it was on its way and would be 15 minutes).

First time here. and was sceptical due to negative comments.. but 5* service, food, atmosphere highly recommend

Ive ordered a number of times from here and love the service from you guys but unfortunately I've been really ill since last ordering from you and have been diagnosed with food poisoning.

This place abuse their fish in their tank. They have a great tank and a good filter but clearly something is going wrong because one of their fish was upside down on the bottom of the tank breathing really quick and the other was just sitting in the bottom corner. Don’t particularly fancy eating somewhere with such a depressing display in the corner

We have used this Chinese takeaway for the past year since our usual one got rather expensive and skimpy on portion sizes. We get the Chinese delivered and I have to say we have never had a bad one. Delivered within expected time and always fresh and hot and always a friendly delivery driver. I couldn’t fault it. I do think some of the reviews are possibly fake, especially when they only have done one review. In my opinion it definitely is one of the best local takeaways

Lovely small Chinese takeaway. Phoned up an order to collect. Told 20 minutes. All boxed up and hot food eaten by me and my mates. Keep up the good work.

Food is alright... bland...and found a bit of bone in my rice... and make sure you have the correct CASH because if you are even 10p short they start moaning

This is my default Chinese takeaway now. Generally, the food is good, with no minimum order value and reasonable delivery charges. Perfect for a single disabled person who is unable to collect.

We have been customers for years and always happy. This time my daughters dish smelt different and didn't taste well. I called asking for replacement because she was hungry and we waited 1.5 hour. Lady on the phone said "food is good maybe your daughter not hungry". I said I want replacement but she said they don't have a driver so I said if I would order another meal they would send the driver so I want a replacement. She then started shouting at me. It was on loud speaker and my daughter was shocked. This lady was extremely rude and was loudly shouted at me bot letting me speak. someone did came with my daughters dish and I asked him to smell it and he was still arguing that its the soy sauce. We checked the fresh food and it was all good, completely different smell and taste. I won't be buying there again after being shout at like this. Extremely disappointed. I'm disgusted

Does not have great reviews, but it's been around forever and food is better than some in town for sure.. delivery has been made with in 15mins everytime so far.

Love... welcome, the food. My choice when I want to order from the range of eateries who serve takeout nearby. Dont forget to UPDATE to latest version of their app before ordering!

Best Chinese takeaway in Bicester

We ordered last night and the food was out of this world. I think there has been a change in chef or ingredients because it is definitely the best Chinese in Bicester now.

We’ve been ordering with them for a while, however the last few times we’ve had issues with our orders, waiting up to 2hrs to get our food. Unfortunately, the last time we ordered we had the worse experience ever. After 1.5hrs wait, we rang them only to find out that, even tho they took the payment through the website, apparently they never received our order. Really disappointed and annoyed with this after such a long wait. We will definitely not be ordering from them anymore!!!

Normally order from here every week. Recently noticed the portion sizes of ribs getting smaller and smaller. More bone than meat!. Given them benefit of doubt the last few times but probably time to find another Chinese that delivers.

Best Chinese in Bicester I think. The Orange Chicken is very nice actually tastes like chicken and the orange sauce is perfect (unlike some) and the duck is absolutely delicious isn’t pure fat! Chips are quite dry though and some times delivery takes a while.

Website says 45 min delivery. 1 hr 40 mins,to arrive but only after 1 hr 10 mins I called them. They claimed the driver had already left. 30 min drive to me later (10 mins tops) it arrived No apology from owner on the phone and driver said he only just left. So owner lied? 1st experience as well as my last.

Rang and booked for collection later that evening. Great customer service on ordering and delivery. Booking online would not process. However the food was poor and pretty tasteless

I've been ordering here for the past few years, the food is nice and prices are reasonable but on far too many occasions I have had to ring them up to find out where our food is as its been way over an hour, and most of the time it's clear they've forgotten our order, as it literally arrives 10 minutes after I call to find out where our food is. If it keeps happening we will go elsewhere.

I never complain, but as a regular customer of 4 years, I phoned up to explain, hoping they would put things right as I have ordered this dish many times. But no, because 'no one else had complained' on this particular day, they weren't prepared to entertain there may be a problem! That in itself is a warning. When the food is good, all is well, but when its poor don't expect them to put it right.

My friend has been a chef in various countries for over 40 years and I'm a lover of Oriental cuisine and we love their food. I have a feeling that the negative reports may be from rival establishments. I'd suggest you order the meal and make your own mind up rather than be influenced by the naysayers, you won't regret it. Had food from here on the 6th February 2021, the king prawn rice had chicken in it, and for someone who doesn't eat meat was shocking to see it in my food. When complained the person on the phone was very rude and dismissive. Save to say we shall not be getting food from there again.

Salt and pepper squid was a little bland and the taste of the oil was strong with such delicate food , King prawns and soft noodle was very generous with prawns worth a re vist

Used to absolutely love this place and ordered from here all the time. Unfortunately the last few times we have ordered from here the food really hasn’t been very nice at all. Sadly the food has really gone downhill and I’m afraid we won’t be back 😞

I have been using this Chinese for years however tonight I ordered £50 worth of food and everything was absolutely vile!!! I phoned up to complain and the lad on the basically called me a liar so I took the the food back down to the restaurant to talk to a manager when I arrived I was greeted by a young Chinese lad who couldn’t of been any older than 16!! He was abusive and rude. Next minute the female manager came out slammed the door and said she was calling the police. this place used to be really good but it’s no wonder they only now have 3 stars on trip advisor.Please please please do not use this grotty little place and warn other people as well. If I could give 0 stars I would!!

Staff are rude, food is appalling avoid at all cost!! Wok and roll is only up the road and it is so much Better than this place. They are serving pork dishes and telling people it is quorn. It should be shut down!!

Avoid at all costs. Placed an order for £40 this evening that we have not received. Rang the business to challenge and question them and was met with a disgracefully rude attitude and shouted at throughout the call. No attempts to rectify the situation, all blame passed elsewhere. Utter disgrace! Safe to say, we will never be using this business again and urge everyone else to go elsewhere too!

Food was kind of ok when it eventually came. My order took over 2 hours to come! When I ordered it said 1 hour to be delivered, I waited 1 hour 20 mins and rang up and got told it would be another 25 mins so we waited. 2 hours and 20 mins from ordering, our food finally arrived. I'd love to know what took so long to cook and deliver such a simple order! Apasaloute joke!! Will not be ordering from here again, we might die of starvation by the time its delivered!

Apparently "chinese quorn" (which is suppose to be soya based) comes with skin and fat, tastes very much like pork. Owner very rude and told son he didn't know what he was talking about (he happens to be a chef) Use the Wah Hong instead as their quorn tastes like quorn Worst chinese ever

ordered a quorn sweet and sour, apparently according to them "chinese quorn" comes with fat and skin.........Son is a chef said it pork, they are adamant it is chinese quorn and he doesn't know what he's talking about. Dish is being sent to trading standards as quorn is soya based so wouldn't have skin or fat! Wah Hong hurry up and reopen cause they clearly don't use "chinese quorn"

The Special Fried Rice was poor quality, unlike previous orders & the Prawn Crackers tasted stale. It could not be eaten. If you try to resolve any problems with your meal then be prepared to face opposition & arrogance, without curtesy. It's the worst customer service I've ever experienced from a food establishment.

In my opinion, comfortably the best Chinese takeaway in Bicester. Good price and tasty with really friendly staff, eager for feedback and very welcoming.

We ordered "non-pork" fried noodle, but there were pork in it. Extremely disappointed since we emphasized we didn't want any pork in it.

Saturday night takeaway whilst on a weekend break. One of the best take aways ever. Delicious mixed Hors d’oeuvres, scrummy Thai fried rice, yummy Thai sweet chili king prawns and lovely stir fried vegetables in garlic sauce - slightly crunchy s they should be. Very good!

Food always arrives piping hot and is delicious. Wide range of options to cater to all tastes. Would not go anywhere else.

Have used Imperial Garden a lot and can recommend them. The food is always delivered hot and is delicious, one of my favourites throughout the UK.My only critique is that it's a higher delivery fee given my location, and this varies which is quite annoying as £5.00 delivery is high on top of the meals.

Totally disappointed! Ordered the double cooked pork and the sauce looked, felt and tasted like congealed fat, I just couldn't eat it. spring rolls were over cooked and the chips were under cooked. Definitely won't be ordering from here again.

The only Chinese takeaway that has General Tso's Chicken. Yum!
