Imperial Dragon in Derby

AVOID Food ordered via Ubereats. Was an hour late, tried to call numerous times for an update and no one picked up. So I'm left wondering if I'm even getting a delivery at all. When the food finally arrived, it was cold and unsatisfying. A thoroughly dissapointing experience in every way. Avoid.

Inedible food, human hair inside, full of fat and had to go down and practically fight for my money back! Never going here again!!

Rang up the other day as I have a dairy allergy to ask if the crispy aromatic duck pancakes contain milk as sometimes they do. They replied: we don’t know. We don’t know? Someone who sells food that could kill someone with an allergy should know. Their excuse was they buy them off a market so they don’t know the ingredients . Was so blunt on the phone and I think this is appalling for people who can be hospitalised over uncertainty from a good company. Sort it out

Last night, I decided to have a chinese takeaway from my 'usual' takeaway (not this restaurant, I hasten to add). I haven't had a chinese takeaway since last year, due to a number of reasons, among which was that my usual menu choice had changed due to a change in ingredients brought on by the lockdown early last year. Anyway, I drove to my usual takeaway, just to find that it was closed. I decided to go to Imperial Dragon, with some trepidation, since I have had a couple of bad meals from there in the past - chicken so stringy, it looked like it came from an old hen. I ordered a chicken curry with a large egg fried rice, to be told it was over £10, since curries come with chips or boiled rice,. This isn't exactly what the menu says, however I was hungry, so I agreed to have chips and rice. No problem, I'll save some for lunch today. When I got the food home, I was somewhat disappointed to discover that Imperial Dragon's interpretation of what a chicken curry consists of, leaves quite a bit to be desired. My chicken curry comprised of slices of chicken breast meat - which is fine, curry sauce - OK, and 4 peices of onion. Thats it! Where are the peppers and carrots that were there two years ago? Where were the rest of the vegetables? Maybe I shouldn't complain, but there was way too much chicken, and I am fairly sure that egg fried rice is made with eggs!? No egg in sight. Just had the remainder for my lunch, and I must admit, it's better the day after. Still, I won't be bothering with this place again.

I’ve just attempted to eat possibly the worst meal in my 26 years of existence. Having had 2 prior poor meals from here I thought I would give them the benefit of the doubt as both the other times they were really busy.. that was the first mistake. Having got my food home it was piping hot which was fantastic. Piled a selection on my plate (second mistake) and cut open the first what I thought was a chicken ball. However what I found inside was worrying (photo attached) it was dark rubbery and smelt absolutely nothing like chicken. The chips were quite possibly the best thing about the whole meal, they even managed to ruin egg fried rice. They included all the ingredients apart from egg, not I’m no Einstein but there’s a clue in the name. Crispy chilli chicken was like eating bouncy balls in sweet sticky honey with a hint of chilli. The beef in the beef curry was probably not beef and more like rubber from a Michelin semi slick tyre. It’s safe to say I’m expecting to spend most of my night in the bathroom and will not be returning here. My company are paying for this meal and I feel ashamed putting this on my expenses.

Ordered takeaway tonight, all delicious. Salt and pepper squid and prawns in honey particularly tasty with crispy batter. Arrived dot on time. Would highly recommend and can’t understand why it doesn’t have more points on trip advisor

Food was here within 20 min. Best food i have ever tasted. Im a regular and its alway tasty and on time but tonights service was brilliant

We ordered a meal on just eat, the site says delivery 30-50 mins, the time given was an hour and a half, so I rang and asked why an hour and a half they said they were very busy. I asked if they could guarantee the meal at 8.30 and they said no, so I cancelled. They should not be accepting orders if they couldn’t do it in the time frame. I am diabetic and had been driving for 4 hours, I was not happy. The women on the phone didn’t give a toss, just eat however were brilliant and repaid my money straight away

We always use this Chinese takeaway, we order mainly over the phone but I do also like ordering in there because all of the food is cooked freshly in front of you. The delivery driver is sooooo nice and always asks how the family is. We would totally recommend.

I had rang up and asked if they delivered to my area as they have done in the past but didn't say on just eat. I was told yes but I'd have to wait for a delivery driver and to call back but took my order anyway? So I rang back and said don't you need my address and they said no because you told me collection! He kept saying that I told him collection, calling me a liar when I had two witnesses in the room who heard me ask. So now I've had to get my mum to fetch it (Ive broken my leg).The man on the phone was very rude and unclear on both phone calls (when I was very loud, clear, specific and polite) Will no be going here again with that disgusting attitude.

We read the reviews on here and worh half great and half awful we didn't think it was worth the risk.However we did risk it and it was amazing! The chicken balls were the best the children have ever eaten and my thai red curry was 5 star! Chinese never normally get a thai red right but it was gorgeous.We placed 4 separate orders over the phone as we were at a local BMX event and then collected together and paid separately.The chicken in all dishes was tender and tasty and all sauces were at the correct level of spice and taste. Boys loved the steak cut chips too.Brilliant place - I think it may have changed hands since this 8 bad reviews. I would say definitely ignore those and enjoy your takeaway.

Ordered a Chinese onlibe from the imperial dragon. The delivery was speedy the driver was extremely polite and friendly i believe owner? Ood was just as expected and in plenty of portion really goid thank you.

Ready to collect 20 minutes after phone call. There was probably the most duck in a 1/4 crispy aromatic duck that I’ve ever had. The prawn dishes were also delicious.and even the kids’ chips were just how I like them - hot, crispy and tasty.A really pleasant surprise.

Kung Po Chicken??? Don't make me laugh. That was it any kind of naturally occuring chicken that I have ever seen or bought! An absolute disgrace. Salt and chilli spare ribs....? More like deep fried fat!!! This place should be closed down.

3rd takeaway in almost as many weeks and I am not the biggest fan of Chinese food! But, the Thai selection is gorgeous, probably the best takeaway I have ever had. Collected twice and had to wait no more than a few minutes, also had food delivered, reasonable wait time and turned up hot and fresh. I only wish we had found you a few years ago. Looking forward to my next order.

We regularly order food from here and find it is always really tasty. Generous portions and reasonable delivery times - we both love Chinese food and this is the best we've had in the Derby area.

Booked well in advance for 9.30 delivery but came late. Had to call restaurant who said its on its way. Food however very good.

really great quick service and delivery driver was ace on checking names etc but unfortunately the meat was really fatty. plus at over £17 which included a delivery charge thought quite pricey. most places would have chucked in prawn crackers. 😞

Great value for money, very tasty and sizable portions (had 2x chow mein and appetiser platter for 2 of us, still havent eaten it all, completely full). Pleasant deliverer. Asked to bring plastic cutlery in delivery instructions which they did. He arrived 5 minutes after time scheduled but wouldn't consider that late as you have to be flexible with traffic etc.

chicken was overcooked but everything else was good.

After reading so many positive reviews I was expecting much better food than I received. The entire order tasted stale, as if it had been made literally days ago and re-heated. It was horrible. The texture was completely wrong and left us unsatisfied. I've tried the same order at other nearby restaurants but thought I'd give this one a shot and it doesn't half compare to the others. Very disappointing.

The delivery time was an estimated 40 minutes however it took over 1 hour and a half for the food to be delivered, and when it arrived it was cold. A very poor service, and I certainly wouldn't be ordering from there again.

Avoid at all costs, takes money for order nearly £50 and make you wait nearly 2 hours and still no food, saying it is our own fault for ordering on a Saturday night. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!

I don't usually have an issue when ordering from here; the food is lovely but, last night when I was eating, I bit into a chicken ball and it was extremely hard and chewy. I cut It apart to find it wasn't actually chicken, I'm assuming it was pork, so an error was made by them

Made an order with them today via Just Eat, order was placed at 19:00 and paid by card, I Received a delivery time on 20:30. Waiting for food to arrive got everything ready, at 20:25 receive a call from just eat saying the take away have cancelled my order as "too busy" no other explanation why does it take over 1 hour to realise you can't make an order and don't even offer an apology! Oh and also being told I have to wait up to 5 day for a refund. Joke of a place, will never order from them again!!
