The community shop is run by friendly volunteers. We found it to be well stocked when we stayed on holiday in the village. It has all the usual things and even some eco products and local produce. There is a cafe there and both indoor and outdoor seating. Worth checking opening days/times in advance. We found it to be shut on Mondays but I wonder if it depends on when volunteers are able to open the shop?

Lovely cafe in this picturesque village. They only do cakes/scones and tea/coffee as we found when we went hoping for something savoury. Shop is amazing and sells the locally produced gin

Almuerzo encantador sentado con vistas al pueblo en un día muy cálido. Menú para el almuerzo pequeño pero todo sabroso y saludable. Tuve sopa de guisantes y menta servida con pan de granero crujiente. Maravilloso. El personal es amable también. Lo hará un as regular para visitar.

In the middle of this quiet village is the most amazing cafe and shop. The staff are all volunteers and so welcoming and helpful. The shop carries the basics and some very good fresh bread. We ate breakfast and lunch and the portions were large and delicious. I had salmon and scrambled eggs and he had the egg and sausage sandwich and then I had ham & cheese sandwich and he had a potato jacket. The sandwiches are huge because the bread slices are large. We ate every breakfast and lunch here when we were not on day trips. I would recommend staying close by as this is a nice respite from the hustle and bustle of the other Cotswold villages.

The cafe has very friendly staff, who serve a wonderful selection of cakes and light meals. Without doubt, the fruit scones melt in your mouth and must be the best in the area. All the cakes are handmade and are a credit to the cook. Located on a hillside which provides extensive views over Ilmington, it just makes the stay even more enjoyable. Everything sparkles and is a delight to visit anytime.

What a great place, a well designed restoration of previous Chapel building in heart of a beautiful village. A sunny day wandering round 11 stunning gardens, watching Morris dancers and ending with scrumptious tea and a large variety of cakes. Special thanks to ALL volunteers for making numerous cakes and serving a huge number of people on the day with grace and humour when under pressure on a special occasion. A community shop that is a fantastic asset to the village.

We called for coffee on the way to Hidcote gardens and had a lovely welcome. First class coffee served with toast and marmalade. The latter was a sharp sweet variety which went down well. The cafe is in a modern extension which blends in completely although giving modern standards. The shop is amazing with possibly the best collection of magazines I’ve seen. Lots of nice things to eat along with daily essentials. It is like an upmarket corner shop. We will go out of our way to return.

Our cycle club visited this cafe on both the Saturday and Sunday of the Easter weekend (over 60 cyclists over the 2 days) On the Sunday , our arrival coincided with the arrival of about 20 motorbikes (many carrying passengers) . This did not fluster the staff , orders were taken with efficiency and a smile for all staff.... Food was served as quickly as the busyness of the cafe would allow and was hot (I opted for a bacon sandwhich) and well presented. For a cafe that is run by volunteers , I don't think you could find a better place. Just a shame that it is so far from our starting point but , on a day like today , that didn't matter

Met the OH for a coffee after I'd been walking on the foulest of mornings and this really is a little haven. Warm and bright with good views of this pretty village from large windows (or the terrace on a better day) we got a great welcome and enjoyed generous, tasty coffees. The cakes looked amazing and they also do a good selection of hot and cold sandwiches, plus local wines and beers. The adjoining shop has all sorts of tasty treats (again much local produce) plus groceries and newspapers. Highly recommended - there's a small car park at the back as well as the on street parking, which gets busy.

Had been for a long walk around the lovely Cotswold country side and just got back to the car and saw the sign for the Community Café, so we thought we’d give it a go. Very glad we did. Ilmington is a beautiful Cotswold village with lovely stone houses, gardens with flowers, fascinating walk-ways, but , it seems only 2 pubs AND the Community Shop & Café. This community enterrprise is thus essential to the life of the village. When we passed through the shop, we found it stacked full of the usual needs of the villlagers . The café was in full use as the many visitors to the NGS Open Gardens over the Bank Holiday weekend had come there for something to eat & drink. The "coffee ( or tea) home made cakes" were enthusiastically received. the ladies who served were charming and heroically understanding of their selfish guests who retained their seats when others needed their seats to be able enjoy their refreshments . Maybe it was too tempting to sit on the terrace & enjoy the sunshine but the shop staff ( mainly volunteers) were doing all they could to make people welcome

Called on-route on our way to Chipping Campden for some tea, was pleasantly surprised by the cafe in this converted church. The Church on an elevated position with a panoramic view over the village. There are tables and chairs outside during fine weather. They serve a lovely pot of tea and sandwiches with lots of salad, or if you wish other reasonably priced light snacks, including breakfast. It has free wifi for people who need to catch up on their emails and a shop for anything else. A pleasant place to stop also for cyclists and walkers who may be passing, but remember they close at 3.0pm extended to 4.0pm during the summertime, see their website.

A fantastic venture staffed mainly by very friendly volunteers. The shop is well stocked with lots of local produce. Had a really tasty lunch in the cafe a fairly simple menu but everything freshly prepared and cooked. The cafe is well located on the upper green in Ilmington. In the summer it's lovely to sit outside. This cafe is great for just a tea and cake or lunch. Really lovely to meet friend here, I've done this many times. The cafe is clean and serves good portions of food. The cheese and ham ploughman's are partially good. The only downside is the limited menu, but I think they are trying to expand it. The cafe and shop are run by volunteers, so if it's busy you may have to wait. I'd rather wait for freshly prepared food and to support a community cafe.

Living in Ebrington over the hill from Ilmington I can only say we are deeply jealous of the village community shop they have created. It is brilliant and has everything you would need. Run by volunteers it has first class provisions and well organised in the old catholic chapel. Obviously popular with the village it has become our shop of choice rather than going into the increasingly twee and tripper focussed Chipping Campden. Well done Ilmington! Coffee shop and cafe is also a godsend for walkers and cyclists - first class venture

Came to this place on a 'cafe' style bike ride with a friend. The cafe is in an extended part of a converted church building, with a nice 'farm shop' in the original building, selling things like locally made fresh bread and other produce. That day was extremely icy, and unfortunately both my friend and myself had fallen of our bikes, due to the quiet and slippery roads in the nearby village of Armscote. We weren't too badly hurt, so managed to get to the cafe only slightly behind schedule. The building was warm and cosy, selling and array of nicely baked cafe food and drink items. We explained to the woman there that we had fallen off and she was very kind and got out her medical box to bandage us up. This was an extremely kind gesture and left a long-lasting good impression on us. Anyway, i had the teacake which was very nice, whilst my friend had the flapjack which he said was very good. Overall, a great cafe with kind and helpful staff.

This little cafe serves the best coffee/ hot chocolates in Stratford upon Avon, in fact I haven't had better anywhere. I was meeting up with an old friend for the weekend, and the owners of where we stayed mentioned the Village Store. We popped by to check it out and wow, what an innovative store this is. They serve the village with papers, book shares and games, and serve food, so we immediately planned to have breakfast there before we headed back home. Breakfast was just lovely, hot, fresh and reasonably priced. The staff were super friendly and even though it was busy, they were very attentive. The deli was stocked with lovely produce, and the gift and card section was very tempting! I would like to credit the owners with what they provide for their village, a real hub for the community, I only wish I could create the same where I live, it would be a social success for sure. We plan to return for another reunite next year, and we will defiantly return here agin.

We took our grandchildren aged 5 and 7 to Spotty Pots on a damp afternoon in the school summer holiday. As it was our first visit we needed some guidance but were given all we needed. It was busy when we first arrived but once everyone had chosen their item the noise subsided to a gentle hum. The children loved painting their wares and did a really good job. We had worn clothes that we were happy to get splattered if necessary but both children managed to keep the paint on the pots which was a bonus. Of course, delicious drinks and cakes were consumed and thoroughly enjoyed. The slices of cake were huge so the five year old needed help - what a shame ;) We found that the staff were a quiet presence and were friendly without being intrusive. All in all it was a lovely relaxing experience, the wares returned from the kiln looking far better than I had expected. The only slight negative, and this is not the fault of anyone at Spotty Pots, was that trying to leave the car park at 5.00pm was not easy because of kerbside parking further up the road which blocked our view of the oncoming busy stream of traffic. Nevertheless, we would not hesitate to go again but would try not to hit the rush hour upon leaving.
