Il VELLO Doro @the Golden Fleece in Wiltshire

This was my first visit - 12.30 pm on a tues - the restaurant was very busy , always a good sign - but that means you need to book ahead. Waiting staff were friendly and helpful. Despite being so busy our food arrived quickly and all our dishes were very tasty. We had two courses each but didn't have any drinks, and we paid under £20 each. We'll definitely come again.

Probably the best value Sunday roast around, especially the belly pork. Great food, staff and atmosphere.

We have been visiting Bath and been out for the day, looking for a place to eat. We drove past here and thought it looked nice. A u-turn in the lay-by proved to be a very wise choice. The service was great, and the food was amazing. I ordered sirloin steak, asking for it to be cooked rare, expecting medium rare as it comes in many other places (which is fine). However, it came as ordered and was delicious. Other dishes included carbonara and pizza, both of which were devoured. My daughter had the pizza but couldn't finish it, as it was pretty big. All in all, a good find. If, and when we're down here again, we will definitely seek you out. Thank you.

Wow, the best Sunday roast in ages! The red cabbage is just yummy. Seven difference vegetables plus potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, and the most perfectly cooked belly pork, with tasty rich gravy. Delicious meal.

Had Lasagne and the garlic pizza bread for takeaway and it was the nicest Lasagne I have ever had! Hats off to the chef! Would definitely be coming back

We ate here last night with 4 of us and a baby and it was brilliant! The staff were lovely and the food was gorgeous! We all had 3 courses and it didn't disappoint. Great place. Italian / pub style. Easy to book and very nice & helpful staff. Menu is quite large and Italian inspired dishes. I’m sure there is something here for everyone. The only thing really I noticed was the rather hybrid menu where they cook carbonara with cream (and not traditionally with eggs) and they have Hawaiian pizza as well. But overall a decent selection. We had a selection of starters and mains of pastas, meats and lasagnes. It was great moorish food. Tiramisu lacked abit of coffee and mascarpone. Was more like a layer cake but again… tasted nice. Definately recommend dinner/lunch or both at this place!

One of the best gluten free pizzas I’ve ever had. Went for the first time last week and shocked that I’ve never come before. Can’t wait to go back.

We wanted somewhere local to celebrate my mum’s 70th Birthday that would be big enough to take around 30 guests. Ali and the team were amazingly accommodating, nothing was too much trouble for them. The food, a selection of the finest antipasti, followed by pizzas, was fresh and delicious and was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. Thank you Ali and all of your staff for helping to make it such a wonderful occasion.

Been here several times, will definitely return. Great food and location. Staff were friendly but service was a little on the slow side this time due to the amount of people being served. Food was quick once orders were taken.

Having driven past numerous times, we decided to check this place out as a change from the usual pub food...been there twice in 2 weeks. A great restaurant, fantastic staff and the food is amazing. This is now my new go-to for eating out. Photo looks a bit tricky as I removed a person.

After another visit for a birthday celebration. The food was amazing, not up to the usual service on the night we was within the 1st few tables to be seated, but 4 or 5 tables after was served and cleared long before we even got to order desserts. They said it was because of a large group of 20 +. I'm sorry, but if you can't keep your high standards, don't take the booking

We've been here a couple of times and never been disappointed. Staff are always friendly and accomodating and the owner always makes you feel a part of the family with chats and regular check ins.

Went to this restaurant for a Birthday Lunch. I do not eat chips.Asked for a jacket potato to no avail.If I ordered potatoes would have to pay extra from the main menu .Decided to go without. Nice for a change but better places to eat.

Had a lovely meal, Pizza was a lovely authentic Italian one, service was excellent and the atmosphere was chilled and relaxed, will definitely be returning.

Service was lacklustre, felt like an inconvenience. Gluten Free options for a Sunday were more about exclusion than inclusion. We have been many times but would not return.

We have always had lovely food and friendly service . Recently we had a party of 27 to celebrate our golden anniversary and they went out of their way to help us celebrate .

Pizza's and calzone are the best I have had in this country and that is my honest review thay don't agree with my inside but are thay worth it that is for sure this is my local owner is brilliant good sence of humor and has a good team behind him. So fully recommended the Pizza

Very enjoyable Italian restaurant and pub. We went for lunch which has its own menu with lunch offer prices. Very reasonable prices, good service and the food was delicious. Good sized carpark but did get busy (Thursday lunch).

Everything was good, except watch Yr bill, as they added a service charge on top for 3 people, we got them to take it off

Fathers day treat from my son, took the opportunity to have the Wednesday steak special. From starter to the dessert the food and service was excellent and nothing was rushed . Thoroughly nice evening and will definitely make a return.

We went to I'll Vello D'Orro for Sunday lunch. 3 of the four of us had traditional Sunday roasts - two beef and one pork belly with all the trimmings and I had Lasagne. Everyone enjoyed their well prepared, cooked and hot roasts. I thought my Lasagne was OK. The deserts were excellent too! We've been to this restaurant before and always have good food and friendly service. I reccomend a visit to this lively restaurant to anyone.

Always love coming to II Vello Doro. Food is sublime as always cooked fresh, staff are always friendly and welcoming (nothing is too much trouble), and to add to this, it won't break the bank. Highly recommend, and as someone who travels the world for work, it is still one of my all-time favourite places to eat. Have eaten here numerous times, and it has always been yummy 😋.

Three of us visited here a few weeks ago. Strange seeing so many glowing reviews; maybe I just got unlucky. Starters were not great. Dry garlic bread, and a sad plate of 4 undercooked breaded garlic mushrooms with a side of wilted salad. We all had a risotto or pasta dish for main. Pasta was fairly average, a decent portion at least. Porcini risotto was awful - bland, completely devoid of any flavour, had never been in contact with any seasoning or even any salt. I think it was just rice, water, and mushroom. Didn't try the pizzas so can't comment. Servers were friendly enough but by the end of the meal they had all disappeared to prepare the cutlery for the next day. Had to get up to find someone to ask for the bill, and again 15 minutes later to actually pay the bill. Based on my experience, I wouldn't recommend this place. If you like flavour in your food, go further on to Bath where you'll get much better food for the same price.

Best Pizza I have eaten in the UK. Totally unexpected, a traditional country pub serving a genuine piece of Italy, outstanding. No rush and to finish off...... Homemade desserts........ You will go back......

This was our second visit to Il Vello Doro and both times we've thoroughly enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere. The staff have a good sense of humour and are friendly.

Booked a table for Friday lunch, glad we did as it was very busy. Greeted and seated very politely and efficiently, drinks order and delivered. Food ordered and delivered quickly considering on the number of full tables we were surprised at how quick. Oh my goodness was a treat we both had, it was absolutely delicious, himself had the lasagna and I had chicken al crème with chips and salad, we had an extra of garlic bread with cheese. Dessert’s of course himself had the lemon cheesecake which of course I had to test, I have to agree with himself it was delicious. I ordered the tiramisu and I wouldn’t let himself test as it was too good to share. All in all, wonderful service, delicious food and we will be back. Thank you all.
