I think the fact that the restaurant had only one table in at 7:30 on a Saturday night spoke volumes.! Food and service was very basic and I won’t be returning again. It was MUCH better before when the previous Italian owner (Giuseppe) owned it .

I hadn't been here for a few years, but wanted a quiet family meal including a 4month old. The service was excellent, very attentive without being annoying. The starters -whitebait and insalata were lovely. Mains - Vitello Saltimbocca and Alpino calzone folded pizza were very good. What let the meal down were the spaghetti dishes we had. The spag was very overcooked, and the tomato/cream sauce was miniscule - a lot like eating tinned spaghetti but drier. Also, we all had tiramisu to take away for our dessert. This was very disappointing - very little cake, far too much cream and no grated or powder chocolate to be seen. Tescos is better, and a lot cheaper!

I’ll be in here most Fridays having my usual, took me along time to find a place in Salisbury which does great food and has good service, never have a bad experience with the food reminds me of the pizzas I’d get in Spain whilst visiting family. 10/10

Great food chef has never has let me down grubs always spot on, (I personally recommend the calzone) the staff are very welcoming and friendly would recommend to anyone looking to take out their partner or going out for a nasal with family or friends

On a short break in Salisbury. Overall disappointing having read previous reviews. Although the restaurant was empty we felt pressured to choose and ordered olives while we considered the menu. I ordered veal and my wife gluten free penne. The waiter returned to tell us they had no veal which eliminated half the à la carte menu. He should have told us this before we started our meal and we should have gone elsewhere. However I accepted chicken instead. It turned out to be tough. My wife's penne was tasty.

From the outside, wouldn't think to go in but the place was recommended and I was pleased I visited. Restaurant is upstairs and very quaint and has a romantic feel to it. Service was good and we're friendly Starters: meatballs and brushetta which was nice Main: cannelloni which was delicious and lasagne which partner said was very nice but he could have eaten more Dessert: tiramisu which he ate, so I think must have been good. Drinks: Cider, coke and two lattes. Very reasonably priced at a bill of £58. I would recommend you give it a try.

After reading reviews we were looking forward to visiting but were sadly underwhelmed. Certainly the service was excellent but our dishes were very average. Risotto, veal with mushrooms masala and a pizza. Just ok. No pizazz in either presentation or flavour I’m afraid. I wish I could praise an independent but with so much choice of restaurants in Salisbury this place needs to up its game. ( or its chef ) unfortunately we won’t be returning.

I went to this restaurant with my mother and husband on a short break to Salisbury. We were very lucky to find this restaurant! Do not be put off by the entrance,you go up a flight of stairs,but when you enter the restaurant it is bright and friendly. The food is freshly cooked and delicious,we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The price was very reasonable too!

We were using Salisbury as a stop over and had booked ahead for a Saturday night. On seeing the entrance and having to go up an uninspiring stairway, my wife was a bit concerned. However, when reaching the restaurant doorway, we were met by a lovely lady who showed us to our table. With high ceilings and wooden floors, when diners came in whilst we were eating, the resonating sound made for a great atmosphere, probably much to do with a larger group of ladies on a night out! All the tables quickly filled up and with only one waiter, it was impressive how he dealt with everyone so efficiently. There is a wide range of traditional Italian food and we started with whitebait which was fresh and beautifully cooked, and our main choice of veal with spaghetti was a good one, this also cooked very well and with plenty of flavour, complimented by a nice glass of red wine. I am sure as time goes by, the restaurant will develop a reputation for good Italian cooking at a reasonable price.

Do not be put off by the exterior! Me and my husband were visiting our son for the weekend who is based nearby. Absolutely amazing meal, delicious food and outstanding service. Could not fault this restaurant, you must give it a try.

Absolutamente deliciosa comida italiana en Salisbury. Comimos aquí un lunes por la noche y fue fantástico. El dueño fue tan encantador y atento durante toda la noche. Los menús tenían mucha variedad y muy bien de precio. Todos comimos entrantes que estaban deliciosos y luego todos comimos pizzas, que fueron algunas de las mejores que hemos tenido. 2 platos más refrescos llegaron a 20 por cabeza, lo cual fue genial. We visited this lovely traditional Italian restaurant for Valentine’s Day. It was refreshing to visit an Italian restaurant that isn’t part of a chain. The interior is quirky, but the food was great. Now we know this restaurant is here, we’ll definitely be back.

Desde el exterior parece muy poco atractivo y la entrada y la escalera ciertamente no te dan ganas de subir las escaleras para descubrir lo que hay dentro.Sin embargo, estábamos en una situación de necesidad y cuatro de nosotros nos aventuramos con una leve inquietud. No deberíamos habernos preocupado. La decoración interna es muy anticuada y necesita mucho cuidado, pero el servicio y la comida no podrían haber sido mejores y me fui pensando "¿por qué no me he aventurado a subir esas escaleras antes?"Esta es una recomendación definitiva si la comida y el servicio son primordiales. The service given by the owner was immaculate and we were made to feel comfortable in the cosy atmosphere. The food was just as satisfying, way better than anything a chain restaurant can offer. I would reccommend this to anyone of any age, being a teen/young adult myself.

My husband and I discovered this place at the beginning of January and I love it! A warm welcome awaits you from Franco (who is one of the nicest chaps you will ever meet) and his equally as friendly son. You are made to feel like family and the food is absolutely delicious. We went back two weeks later and it's now my firm favourite, you feel like you are on holiday when you visit. So thanks Franco we shall be back for sure :)

Everytime we go to dine here we are always greeted with a warm welcome and great atmosphere,the food is always cooked from fresh and I'm slowly making my way through the whole menu,it's like being in a sweet shop where there is too much to choose from,the desert menu is to die for, probably the best are the profiteroles,made in the kitchen and not brought in, unlike most places I might add,I would say to anyone who is thinking about dining here that they definitely won't be disappointed since the change of ownership,if it's not the food that will draw u BK it will definitely be the price, definitely worth it,can't wait to return with the family and have yet another great evening,ten out of ten in my eyes,also great place to wow a lady on a first date as it's not to loud

At the last minute we rang for a birthday lunch for 2 - and I mentioned it to Franco (mein host!!)who put up a cheerful birthday poster/ impromptu birthday cake etc We had 3 courses- mushrooms/ pasta/ cheesecake and delicious coffee. El restaurante está dirigido por un padre y un hijo que realmente se esfuerzan no solo por servir comida italiana realmente buena, sino también por hacer que el cliente se sienta bienvenido con divertidas bromas y conversaciones. Cada parte de la comida era de primera clase y el vino era perfecto. Los licores después de la cena fueron fantásticos. Está un poco escondido pero vale la pena buscarlo. Decoración pintoresca y un ambiente maravilloso.

I am a big fan of the Italian cuisine and where ever I try a new Italian place, I go for spaghetti carbonara as for me that is the best way to measure the quality of the food.

Went to Alpino in a group of six hoping that the food would be as good as it was a few years ago on my last visit. It wasn’t. Terrible service and the food was awful. I ordered a calzone only to be told I couldn’t have it because “something wasn’t right with it” and it would be burnt. So instead I ordered a pizza with ham, pepperoni, prosciutto and some chillies. That was not what arrived! I was presented with a pizza with spaghetti Bol. sauce, chicken and a few chunks of ham. I explained that’s not what I ordered and explained again. A few minutes later the same pizza came back with just a few bits of pepperoni on. It was now cold so I sent it back again. A few minutes later the same poor sad, now over-cooked pizza was returned to me. I made a joke about it being microwaved and the waiter starting shouting at me!

This restaurant used to be busy at any time of day or week. We visited on a Friday night, there were 6 other diners, it should have sounded alarm bells! Whilst the manager/waiter was pleasant and clearly Italian, (if not, he had a good grasp of the language) the good was lack lustre, tasteless and totally overpriced. "Slop on a plate" would be my best description.

Had a great dinner with my wife. Food was delicious. The service was very welcoming and personal. We would both highly recommend.

I’m absolutely staggered by the previous good reviews. There is no doubt about it that alpinos is Italian authentic and extremely welcoming and friendly, but the food is awful. We aren’t picky eaters at all, but none of us could finish our meals. Even the basics, bologneise, risotto & carbonara were just revolting. So disappointing and a complete waste of money.

Definitely come again plenty of choice of home cooked food made from authentic Italian ingredients. Such a difference to the majority of mass produced rubbish being served in most of Salisbury’s chain restaurants. Staff friendly and nice atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Myself, my mum and my sister came here for a rare dinner together. We had main courses which were delicious, and then I tried a new and as yet unnamed desert, mascarpone with vanilla and sponge fingers dipped in chocolate... this has now been nick named (by us) Orgasmic Italiano, oh my goodness it was amazing! Also the staff were great, lots of laughs, lovely food and good wine made for a fabulous evening!

The restaurant was basically empty at around 8pm in a high-traffic area of Salisbury. That, and the fact that practically every Italian word on the menu was misspellt (primi pLatti instead of piatti, arabiata with only one R and one B, etc. etc. etc.), probably should have been a hint of things to come, but the reviews on here were overwhelmingly good, so it seemed worth a go nonetheless. The service was pleasant and attentive (as indeed one would expect when one's table is the only occupied one in the whole place).

Warm, inviting, friendly, and truly delicious. The charming decor is outshined by the even more charming owners and staff. A fantastic affair where you feel like one of the family. The food was scrumptious and fresh and seasoned to your liking. They went out of their way to be sure we were happy. It is well worth the search to find this hidden gem of Salisbury. The next time we visit the UK we will be sure to stop here again. Absolute perfection!

This welcoming restaurant is in the city centre but was not too easily found. It's up a stair from street level but the quest was worth it. The food is very good and reasonably priced. Service was excellent.

Desde la calle pasaría fácilmente ya que la entrada es pequeña y sencilla, pero una vez dentro, en esta mi primera visita a este maravilloso restaurante, la escena es la de un auténtico, agradable y familiar restaurante italiano.

He vivido en Salisbury por 4 años y este sigue siendo uno de nuestros restaurantes favoritos. Una pequeña joya secreta que es fácil de perder debido a la puerta de entrada de la planta baja con escaleras al restaurante en el primer piso. Excelentes ofertas especiales para el almuerzo y la cena, y simplemente la mejor pizza que he probado fuera de Italia. Olvídate de las cadenas habituales y dale un gusto a tus papilas gustativas. El personal es amable y cordial y da la bienvenida a los niños, no se deje intimidar por la decoración, que puede no ser del gusto de todos, más auténtica italiana que una cadena genérica que se ve igual. ¡Lo amamos!

Alpino is a little slice of Italian in Salisbury. Although not a large restaurant it has a very welcoming atmosphere and the staff are friendly and the food is good if not really traditional Italian. The restaurant is located on the first floor so will be a problem for wheelchair users, also the loos are on the 3rd floor.

We came for dinner on the strength of the reviews and we weren't disappointed! Couldn't fault any of our courses and the banoffee pie was as good as any dessert I can remember having. The whole experience was so much enjoyable (and tasty) than any of the chain restaurant options and with the set menu options it was great value too. We will be back soon!!

The food is delicious and great value. We always visit when we're in Salisbury. So much better than any chain restaurant offers.

It is hard to find a certain place to go for a lunch that you can depend upon. The limited lunchtime menu on the offer is very good value

We've visited Alpino's twice already this year. The restaurant offers really good service, value for money and delicious food. Everything we have tried has tasted of home cooking. Moreover, the portions are not too big (an increasingly rare thing these days), but are just right. The house wine is much better than house wines in general are: in fact we thought it had more character than the Gavi, though that was also good of course. It is worth climbing the stairs to eat in a restaurant that unlike so many in the centre of Salisbury is not part of a chain.

There is a board outside, but the restaurant is tucked away behind a little door and up a couple of flights of stairs. To say it's worth the effort is an understatement! Forget the Italian 'chain' restaurants: this is the real stuff! Delicious and freshly-cooked Italian food at realistic prices, with lovely friendly staff to serve it: who could ask for more? Whether you choose the a la carte or the 'special' menu, it's value for money! It's my favourite eating place in Salisbury!
